"I didn't think I'd see anyone out here who wasn't a trainer," Said the boy with the green hair, who was gazing at her. He was dressed strangely with a baseball cap and a rubix cube attached to his waist with a strange necklace and bracelets.
"Who're you?" The girl asked uncaringly. She had only come out here to find some berries her brother wanted but her mother was busy so she had to get them herself.
"My name is N." The boy replied reluctant to tell her. "Who are you?"
"I'm Touko," she muttered, "and why shouldn't I be out here?"
He smiled, "Well for one thing, there's a lot of dangerous wild pokémon out here that could harm you if you're alone."
"Let them try." She growled softly pulling the last few berries from the branches.
He smiled again slightly softer. "You're not afraid of them?"
"No, they won't bother me. I'll just outrun them."
"What if you can't?"
"..." She sighed, "Well, I haven't been in any danger before you got here and that's quite some time. Is the lecture over with now?"
"Okay, I was just making sure you knew. Though just out of curiosity what would you have done if a trainer wanted to fight you and didn't take no for an answer?"
She sighed again. "I don't know I didn't plan that far ahead. You're here now though aren't you? Besides you're not exactly going to challenge someone without pokémon."
"What about team plasma, they might."
"Who are team plasma?"
"Well they want to set all pokémon free from their trainers so they can be happy. In fact, I'm their leader."
She smiled at him. "That's very nice but I have to go now."
He stepped in front of her. "Where to? At least let me walk you home so you don't get attacked again."
She gritted her teeth this guy was seriously bugging her.
"Thank you, N but I think I'll be fine now."
He smiled as she walked past him but called out to her as she began to walk away.
"Touko, just out of curiosity, why don't you have any pokémon?"
She growled and spun round. "I hate pokémon!"
N blinked in surprise and stared at her. She always got that reaction, she expected it.
"Touko," N said finally, "what happened to you?"
He spoke the words softer and she knew he was looking deeply into her eyes trying to read them.
Her shoulders sunk and she shrugged. "It was just another, pokémon attack."
He walked a little closer to her and turned his head to look at her, she was looking down at her feet.
"Touko, look at me."
She looked up slowly and saw him smiling. "I'll help you like pokémon, okay?"
She thought for a minute gazing into his curiously coloured eyes.
"Why would you want to do that?"
He moved a little closer so he was talking into her ear but very quietly.
"It's because, I wouldn't want anyone not to like pokémon. They are amazing, you'll see."
"Everyone says that."
"What?"
"They always say pokémon are amazing but they're not, they're horrible."
"Touko..."
"Just leave me alone!"
Her shouting caused some pidoves to fly away and she ran leaving N standing there looking at where she stood. He was silent for a moment then smiled sadly, he would change her mind.
He turned around and walked back into the shade of the trees.
