It hurt. By god did it hurt. Worse than when one of Davy Jones' crew hit her on the head with the hilt of his sword. This pain was new and frightening. It seemed to consume her until it hurt to breathe. Until it took everything she had not to cry every time she saw them. But she was a strong woman. Her mother had told her that before she died. She would believe it until the day she died.

She had never shown weakness during her short life time. She had never shed a tear. Not for anybody. Because she was a strong woman and she took pride in that. Then she met him and her world turned upside down. She had fallen for him almost instantly. Foolish on her part but it was too late to do anything about that. She had given her heart to him the moment he said her name. Now she was paying for it.

But how could she have known he was betrothed to another? He never spoke of another woman. How was she to know? It wasn't her fault she was here. It was his. He could've told her and saved them both from pain. He could've thwarted her flirty attempts but he didn't. He smiled and sat back, watching with those eyes… Sometimes she cursed the day he was born.

It had taken her by surprise. A strange woman by Elizabeth had joined the crew and at first she ignored her. Thought nothing of her. Whatever she was here for was none of her business. Until said woman kissed him. And promised to never leave him. That she loved him and thought of him everyday. She had almost laughed, thinking he would push Elizabeth away. He did not. That's when she realized her life was over.

He never paid her any more attention. Was so infatuated with Elizabeth he forgot her. She pretended it was alright. That her heart wasn't silently breaking… But when Elizabeth confessed she was with child and his eyes lit up in a way she'd never seen before her decision had been made.

The sky was cloudless, the stars shining, the moons light as her only guide. It was beautiful. A beautiful way to end a beautiful thing. No one except two people, Captain Jack Sparrow and Gibbs were on deck. Everyone was sleeping. Jack and Gibbs were half asleep. No one saw her climb on top of the railing, no one saw a tear fall from her eye. No one heard her whispered, this isn't how it was supposed to end… They never heard the splash of a body hitting cold water. They never saw her sink to the bottom of the sea…

This isn't how it was supposed to end
