summary "Your crush is ugly," he said. She replied, "I bet yours is." He stared at her. "Tell me. Are you ugly?"

ugly

Sasuke Uchiha's left eye twitched a mere millimetre.

The Sai-guy was back, talking and laughing and flirting with his girl best friend. His. Sasuke's.

At the back of his mind came a nagging voice that sounded suspiciously his. The voice was as low as his and just as monotonous. It said, "The dobe's way wrong. The bastard does not look like me. Never." The guy only had dark hair (darker) like him and dark eyes (blacker) like his were, but those attributes did not make the bastard look like him.

For one, he was way handsomer than that Sai. Inwardly, Sasuke nodded to himself. Proudly nodded.

Finally, Sakura bid her good-bye to Sai and spun around to approach Sasuke.

They had been best friends since kindergarten, along with Naruto Uzumaki—the dobe. The three were what anyone would call "The Prime Examples of Best Friends". For thirteen years, they had been friends and never broke apart.

"Hi, Sasuke-kun," greeted Sakura, sitting on the bench beside Sasuke. She looked at him with a huge smile and continued, "Sorry for the wait."

Sasuke only looked back at her.

As best friends, it was a number one rule that there would be no secrets. But because Sasuke was an Uchiha, and Uchihas were mysterious, he managed to keep a secret for himself. A secret he did not know when to reveal.

Sakura cocked her head to the side, a confused look on her face. "Sasuke-kun? Are you OK?"

Because he was Sasuke Uchiha, he could say just anything.

"That's the crush you were always talking about?" asked Sasuke, putting on an indifferent look. Sakura, on the other hand, could only raise an eyebrow upon the question. "The guy who had black hair and black eyes, pale skin and low voice, tall stature and athletic build?"

Somehow, Sasuke missed the fact that he was all those things he mentioned.

"Oh, and a part of the soccer team like me?" he finished.

Sakura did not speak.

"He's ugly." Sasuke looked away sharply. "Your crush is ugly."

From Sakura's tone, Sasuke could infer that she was infuriated.

"Hah, I bet yours is," replied Sakura, folding her arms across her chest childishly. Despite being an eighteen-year-old, she still had her childish streak.

Sasuke looked back at her and contemplated. For seconds, they stared at each other.

Then Sasuke spoke.

"Tell me," he started, moving forward until their foreheads touch, "are you ugly?"

Sakura's eyes widened. Somehow, she deciphered the secret Sasuke kept from revealing.

&&he crushed on his best friend.
