Chapter 26: Declain

AN: I do not own anything from Harry Potter.

Hermione woke up sometime in the middle of the night. She rolled over onto her side to try to find a more comfortable position.

She glanced over at Draco, who was sound asleep laying on his stomach, his face buried in his pillow. The bed sheet covering him was riding dangerous low on his hips.

Like a magnet she was drawn to him. She scooted closer to him, trying not to jar the mattress too much and waking him up. She couldn't help but let her eyes travel down the length of his body. With him sound asleep it was much easier to take her time and admire his body without being embarrassed and overly aware that he was watching her.

Soon her fingers took on a mind of their own and started following the path her eyes had taken. Lightly tracing her fingers over his bare back and down to the top of his bum. Checking to make sure he was still asleep, she slowly slid the sheet further down, exposing his entire butt for viewing.

Gaining more courage she ran her fingers over his cheeks. It was so unfair that he had such a perfect butt, when hers was…well not.

His cheeks clenched as she ran her fingers over him. She let out a squeak, which followed by a male chuckle.

"You're awake," she whispered.

"It tickled," he mumbled sleepily. "So, do you normally make a habit of fondling my ass while I'm asleep?"

She blushed even though he couldn't see in the dark. "No…I was just curious."

He rolled over so that he was facing her in all his naked glory. "Well, don't let me stop you. Please fondle away." He was waved a hand down his body teasingly.

She snorted, "You're incorrigible."

He leaned in and kissed her. "You started it." He smirked.

They laid there staring at each other for a moment.

Draco lazily played with her hair. "What's wrong?" He asked her becoming serious.

She looked at him, not realizing that she had spaced out. "What? Nothing's wrong."

He tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "I can tell something is on your mind, because I can see the wheels turning in your head."

"It's nothing." She hesitated. "It's stupid really."

"Spit it out woman, so I can move forward and shag you, then go back to sleep."

She rolled her eyes at him. "So romantic." She teased, then turned serious again. "It's just all of this seems too good to be true sometimes." She sighed. "And, I'm constantly torturing myself with thinking…waiting for you to get bored and move on to someone else."

"Don't say that Hermione. I've told you, we're in this together until we figure out how to get back or not."

"But then what? What happens when we get back? Is this," she gestured between the two of them, "you and me, are we going to be the same at school around all of our school mates? What if when we got here, there was no Crissy or Declan? And there was nothing to tie you down to me. Would you have stayed with me or left eventually to pursue your career or whatever?"

He ran a hand down his face and turned so that he laid on his back staring up at the ceiling. "I don't know Hermione. Can't you just be happy with how things are now and not worry so much?" He sighed sound more angry. "I don't want to talk about any of this right now. So let's just go back to sleep and discuss this tomorrow. I have to get up early for practice anyway."

She winced even though he wasn't looking and rolled over onto her side, facing away from him. "Okay," she whispered in the dark.

Draco looked over at her and realized he had upset her. So he scooted over and pulled her close to him. "Hey, I'm sorry. I don't want to fight." He lightly kissed the back of her neck.

She didn't say anything.

"I just don't want to think and worry about all the what if's. And just focus on the here and now, with you and Crissy and the little guy. Right now I have no intention of going anywhere. And whether we continue to try to get back to the past or continue to go forward with the present. We will figure it out when that time comes. I don't want you to worry yourself sick with constantly thinking about things that aren't there. I know I wasn't a good guy in the past and I know I'm not the easiest guy to trust sometimes. And I don't know where we would be if the kids weren't in the picture. But, that didn't happen, so we need to focus on what's in front of us now." He felt her nod in the dark.

"I'm sorry I'm being so difficult." She whispered wiping her face with her hand.

"You're not," he told her. "I'm just not used to considering someone else's feelings in situations like this. I'm not used to caring about someone other than myself."

"Okay," she sniffled.

"So…is all forgiven?" he teased trying to lighten the mood.

This was the first time Draco had verbally mentioned having feelings for her or rather 'cared' for her. And that didn't skip Hermione's attention. He might not have realized he said it, but she did. He had not been open with his feelings unless it is about Crissy or sex.

She turned over and faced him again. "I just need to know one thing. And I know you've already told me before. But, please just humor me and tell me again."

He looked at her waiting for her to continue.

"I just need to know that as long as you and I are doing this." She pointed between them, "that I'm the only girl that you are 'doing this' with. That you won't go and hookup with someone else, because someone catches your eye, or flirts with you…or if you do get bored with me."

He started to speak, but she cut him off.

"And if you do feel the need to be with someone else, then I need you to be honest and tell me that you want to break things off. I really don't want you to go behind my back and hookup with someone else." She took a breath. "I want to know. And if you do, then you need to know that this, between you and I, whatever you want to label it, will be over. I can't be with you if you cheat on me. Ever since the thing with Gwen, which I know wasn't you're doing, I still find myself second guessing everything, wondering if I'm enough."

There she said it, revealing one of her biggest fears to him.

"Hermione, I told you, when I'm with someone, then I'm with them, no one else. I don't cheat."

"I know, but you also told me that you have never been with the same girl twice. So how would you know that you won't cheat, if you've never had anyone to cheat on?"

"Because, I've seen the way my parents were, my father was unfaithful and it tore my mother up. I won't do that to someone. But, if I agree to this, that as long as you and I are playing house together I won't go behind your back and cheat without breaking things off with you first, then the same terms should apply to you as well."

She looked at him confused.

"You're not allowed to shack up with some bloke, if you're sharing my bed." He clarified.

She smiled slightly. "I highly doubt that will happen. Look at me, what guy is going to want to be with a woman who is 5 months pregnant?"

"I beg to differ." He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"It's your baby, it's different for you. But, yes I promise, it's you and only you until something changes." She blushed, realizing that she revealed more than she meant to.

"Good and I promise too."

"Good." She smiled slightly up at him.

"So…now can be go back to the part where you were going to fondle me?"

She pushed him away playfully. "I think the moment has passed."

"Well, then let me convince you otherwise."

Draco woke up and was pleasantly surprised to have a very warm, soft and naked Hermione wrapped around him. Her legs tangled with his, her arm thrown over his torso and her breast smashed up against his chest. Her face was buried in the crook of his neck, her curly hair tickling his face and her soft breath warming his skin.

He glanced down at their bodies entwined and smiled. Too bad she wasn't awake yet, because he was very awake now, up and ready to go in fact. He pushed back some of her hair that got caught in his stubble on his jaw and stroked a hand down her bare back stopping at the most perfect ass he had ever laid eyes on.

She sighed against his throat and snuggled in closer to his body. Yep, that was enough encouragement for him to continue. He quickly shifted his weight and rolled her over onto her back. It resulted in a surprise squeak from her. But, it soon turned into a groan as he started to kiss his way down her throat towards hers breast.

She blindly reached out to him and grabbed fistfuls of his hair as if anchoring him to her body. "Okay, I'm not going to lie, this is a good way to wake up." She mumbled, her voice still groggily with sleep.

He chuckled against on her stomach and started to head further south, when she jerked him back up her body.

"You can do that next time, right now I want you right here and inside me."

He would have been shocked at her bold demand if she hadn't blushed beet red afterwards. "Bossy," he teased against her lips.

He did as she demanded and pushed inside her.

They both groan in unison. He didn't think he would ever get tired of the feeling of her wrapped around him like she was. And it was a bloody good feeling.

He grabbed hold of her roaming hands and raised them above her head. Entwining their fingers together.

"Draco," she sighed as he started moving.

Yeah, that was another thing he loved, when she said his name like that, all breathy and sensual. They were just getting to the good part when a soft cry came from the baby monitor. They both groaned and paused what they were going.

"Oh no, not now." Hermione whined.

Draco rested his forehead against hers panting. "Maybe she'll go back to sleep?"

They both stilled and listened waiting to see if the crying stopped.

It didn't.

"Maybe we can have Ziggy take care of her?" He suggested.

They were still intimately connected and he was still very much aroused.

She narrowed her eyes at him, "we can't do that. It's selfish. And we can't keep relying on Ziggy to do everything we're not wanting to do."

"But, it's her job to do that."

"Well, it's still not fair. We're Crissy's parents, she's our responsibility, what's going to happen when we have two babies? We can't just pass off the responsibility to Ziggy everything something like this happens."

He sighed, why did she have to be such a know it all. "What if we got a nanny?"

She glared at him. "What do you think Ziggy is? She is our nanny."

"Okay fine. So that means no more morning shags then?" He sighed in defeat.

"I better go check on her."

He nodded. "Okay."

She smirked, "which means you're going to have to get off of me."

With one last sigh, he rolled off her onto his back.

She got out of bed and put on her robe that was draped over a chair nearby and walked out the door.

He looked down at his body and sighed again. She might be able to just get up and walk away, but he was almost in pain here.

It only took a couple minutes, in which he hadn't moved from his position on the bed, that the door opened up and in came Hermione.

"Damn it, I'm probably going to hell for this." She dropped her robe and stood naked next to the bed.

She crawled up the bed and straddled his waist. He put his hands on her hips.

"Where's Crissy?"

Hermione sighed. "Ziggy is taking care of her."

He smirked at her.

"Oh, don't you look at me like that. This is a one-time thing."

He smirked again. "Whatever you say love."

And he lifted her hips and guided her home.

They were in the kitchen, Hermione sitting down at their small kitchen table feeding Crissy some lovely looking mush out of a jar, as she munched on some cereal. He watched as Hermione attempted to spoon in the goo into Crissy's mouth and Crissy in turn only eating a little bit and then spit the rest out.

He smiled as he bit into an apple as he propped himself up against the table next to Hermione.

"Hey, can I ask you something."

"Uh huh," Hermione responded distracted.

"Who is Declan?"

"Huh?" she turned to him.

"Last night, when we were talking, you mentioned Crissy and Declan." He raised an eyebrow in question smiling.

She bite her lip and looked away briefly, then turned back. "This is going to sound crazy, but I had a dream about him. It was right after we went to the zoo. The dream took place a few years from now and Crissy had to have been 4, maybe 5 years old, and there was a little boy with her, no older than 3 and she called him Declan. And, I don't know." She shrugged looking sheepish. "I've kind of been thinking of him as Declan ever since."

Draco rubbed at his jaw, he hadn't shaved that morning and the stubble on his chin made a scratchy noise as his fingers ran along his skin.

"Declan. Declan Malfoy." He pretended to think it through, "I like it."

"Really?" she asked, unsure.

"Yeah," he smiled down at her and she sighed in relief.

He leaned down and kissed her as he ran a hand over her growing belly.

"You can pick out his middle name." she told him as he pulled away.

He shouldered his quidditch bag and smiled. "We can talk about it later, how about dinner tonight, we can go out, and you can pick the spot."

"Sounds lovely." She stood and walked towards him, wrapping her arms around his waist, she went up on her tiptoes and kissed him.

"Have a good day at practice."

"Make sure that little one doesn't get into too much trouble."

They both looked over at Crissy, who started finger painting with her breakfast. They both chuckled, watching her.

"I'll be home around 5."

She nodded, and he kissed her one last time before stepping back and apparated out of their kitchen.

Shortly after Draco left, Hermione got Crissy ready for the day and she herself changed into some stretchy leggings and a large t-shirt. Today she was going to try to finish getting her parent's house boxed up and cleaned out. She got a message from her mother late last night saying she had hired a moving truck to come by in a couple of days to take all the boxes and put them in a storage unit, until they figure out what they want to do with all of their stuff. She had also hired a real estate agent to come out and start showing the house in the next week or two, so everything, apart from the large furniture pieces, needed to be out of the house soon.

It was still hard to think that her parents had just up and left her childhood home to live thousands of miles away across an entire ocean. But, she had to remind herself she was no longer an 18 year old girl anymore, and there was a large gap of time missing between now and then. So, this could have been something they have been planning for a while now.

She packed a bag for Crissy with lots of toys to keep her entertained as well as snacks for her and herself since, knowing from experience there was hardly any edible food in her parent's kitchen.

Before they were about to leave, there was a tapping at the window. Hermione looked over at the window above the kitchen sink, outside it sat a large owl, the same one that came by the other day when Narcissa invited them to dinner at the Manor.

She walked over and opened the window and accepted the letter that the owl was carrying. The letter was indeed from Narcissa. She wanted to know if they wanted to join her and William for dinner that night around 7:00 at Silver Fox, a popular, but expensive dining establishment in Diagon Alley. Her and her parents ate there right before her second year, when they were shopping for her school supplies. So she knew that they accepted muggles in that restaurant, but with the understanding that they had to be accompanied by a witch or wizard.

It was usually frowned upon, to let muggles into places like that, with the chance of letting the secret of the Wizarding World get out and cause an uproar within the muggle community. But, this restaurant had a special ward around the place that only worked on muggles.

It was completely harmless and usually wore off in a month or so. But, it pretty much blocked them from telling other muggles about the place or places they have seen in Diagon Alley. And, it would change their words around so that it sounded like they went to a restaurant in Piccadilly Square or something, instead of in a place, that to them, isn't supposed to exist.

She debated on whether or not she should let Draco know of the change of plans for tonight, but since he would be home around 5, they would have plenty of time to prepare before they had to meet with his mother and boyfriend.

She wrote a quick response to Narcissa telling her that they would meet them there around 7:00 and gave it back to the owl along with an owl treat. Once the owl finished the treat it took off with the letter and eventually disappeared in the distance.

Hermione got Crissy all settled into the van and headed to her parent's home.

She tackled the majority of the downstairs of her parents' house the last time she was there, so today she was going to start working on the upper level, leaving her bedroom and garage for last.

Putting a barrier ward around the top of the stairs, she put Crissy in a little contraption that she found in the garage where Crissy could stand or even walk around if she wanted too. It had a harness underneath the seat that could support her wobbly legs without falling over.

She hadn't walked much since that day her and Draco saw her do it the first time. But, she was starting to stand on her own more often, by hanging on items that were sturdy and could support her weight.

She figured it wouldn't be long before she would be running all over the house.

Hermione considered taking that home with her, so Crissy could practice walking and help her gain more control and balance.

Hermione did pretty much the same as she did the other night with packing. Except instead of going through every little thing, she used a clearing spell, which helped empty out all the closets and drawers and laid them out on the floor so she could see everything.

Anything that looked like trash, she threw out. Her mother told her to take all of their clothes to charity, since they have already taken everything they wanted to keep with them. So she had boxed up all the clothes and shoes that they left behind.

All the big furniture pieces were staying in the house, so the realtor could show it furnished. Her family home was small and quaint, with only two bedrooms, her and her parents. Anytime they had guests stay over, Hermione had to give up her bedroom and sleep on the sofa. It didn't happen very often so she never minded.

She ended up finishing the upstairs fairly quickly and levitated all the boxes downstairs and set them in the living room.

Making sure everything was properly labeled, she moved on to the garage. The garage she had been dreading. It was full of power tools and equipment that she really had no idea what to do with. Her dad's old lawn mower sat in the corner, leaking oil all over the floor and a bunch of old paint cans stood stacked next to it. She didn't want to touch them for fear they would fall over and make an even bigger mess.

She found some old bags that she had been practicing on from when she, Harry and Ron went on the hunt for Horcruxes. She took the beaded purse with because it was easy to conceal when needed since it was small and compact. But she had practiced the packing charm on an old rucksack and an old purse that she used when she was younger.

The charm was still intact with both bags. So to make everything a little bit easier she was able to shrink everything worth keeping down and pack them in the bags. With the lawn mower and old paint she made sure to put them in a plastic bag before packing them away, in case they spilled while being moved around.

It took pretty much the entire day, but she finally got everything packed up and Crissy slept through most of it, which was good. Once she levitated all the boxes from the living room to the garage, they were good to go.

She gathered Crissy up and all of their stuff and prepared to leave. But, first she went out to the backyard to check on the bush of fluxweed that she needed to pick soon.

In order for it to work in the Polyjuice Potion it needed to be picked on a full moon. Which according to the calendar will be in a couple of days. She also needed to make sure that she uprooted the bush and replant it at their house, so they can use it as needed. But to be safe she wanted to wait to uproot it until after she picked it on the full moon.

Once they got back to the house, she was exhausted. It was only 4:00 pm and Draco would be back home in an hour, and they didn't have to meet with Narcissa until 7:00 pm. So she had time to sit and relax for a bit, before she needed to get ready.

She set Crissy down in her playpen and went over to the sofa and sat down. She flipped on the TV and changed the channel to a romantic comedy she remembered watching when she was younger.

It didn't take long before her eyes drifted shut and she fell asleep.
