Prologue

Lying in the arms of the man she loves, Merlin cannot remember a time when she was so happy. Not even back in her home town of Ealdor had she felt such a sense of belonging. The blonde beside her shifted in his sleep subconsciously tightening his arms around the woman lying next to him.

With a smile Merlin placed a soft kiss on the forehead of her husband and closed her eyes ready to drift off into a contented sleep. Listening to the sound of gentle breathing from her bed mate, and feeling the warmth and strength of the arm surrounding her she placed a hand on her extended abdomen and prayed that her unborn child was able to feel the love its parents feel towards it. With a gentle smile on her face she drifted off to sleep, dreaming of a young blonde child laughing in delight with a laughing prince of Camelot pursuing them, in the background she can make out an indulgently smiling King and a proud observant group of knights watching over, and protecting the future of Camelot.
