Even Demons Bleed:

A/N: Wow, it's been three years since this story was placed on hiatus. I am glad that the Kuroshitsuji fandom remains strong, and my interest came back after I had the chance to watch the 4th Kuromyu in Japan. With the Titanic-arc being animated and due to be released this year, I am certain the Kuroshitsuji fandom will rise again! Enjoy chapter 9!

Summary: In a world where demons have taken over and humans are a commodity, the Resistance fights to regain human rights. A routine mission goes wrong, and one human finds himself catching the interest of the demon in charge of destroying the rebel group.

No..no...no! Let me out!

The darkness descended over him quickly, pinning him against the glass cage. Raven feathers fell like ashes as a heavy weight descended against his weak body.

No...stop, please! Help me!

A deep chuckle reverberated by his right ear as he felt something wet and hot trailing up the column of his neck, tasting his fear. Frantic hands pounded on the glass surface again, crying out to the man in the white lab coat to save him.

He could just barely see the face of the man observing him with barely a speck of emotion on his face. But he knew that face. It was someone he knew too well. Black raven hair that was carefully styled. Piercing, crimson eyes. The face of a demon.

Sebastian… help...me…..

A scream tore through his throat as sharp fangs dove into his neck, crushing tendons and bones. He screamed...and screamed...until he could scream no more.

Ciel woke up with a loud gasp, hands flying to his throat as his body shook off the remnants of his nightmare. Where was he? He was in a glass cage, Sebastian was there. The damned demon was staring at him as he was eaten alive.

No.

He was safe. Ciel fumbled around in the dark, fingers brushing against the familiar texture of his sleeping mat and the cool stoney surface of his sleeping quarters. The child breathed out a sigh of relief, patting his chest to calm himself down. It was only a dream. A nightmare.

"S-sebastian…?" Ciel called out into the dark cave, sitting up quickly as another kind of panic settled down in his body. Where was the demon? Did he slip out to take a piss or something? He was supposed to be guarding him.

Shit!

Realisation hit him like a ton of bricks before Ciel scrambled to his feet, hands fumbling in the dark for the revolver. His gun is missing. That bloody demon is also missing.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

Alois is going to have his head for real this time round. Ciel cursed for the upteenth time as he grabbed his torch, exiting the small cave to seek out his missing captive.

Alois let out a sigh as he collapsed onto the chair beside him, having stilled the old man's pained thrashings for the last hour or so. Tanaka seemed to be fine for now. The leader thanked William wordlessly with a curt nod of his head before amber eyes snapped towards the taller demon questioningly.

"You are better than I thought. Even Madam Red and William's skills are limited to what little medical supplies we can salvage from your disgusting lot."

The perfect lips of the raven-haired demon curved into a gentle, knowing smile at the remarks.

"Thank you for praising my skills.I have been working on them for many centuries."

The blond demon scoffed before leaning over to tug the thin blanket over the sleeping old man's figure gently. The three of them had been working tirelessly to bring the pain down for their terminally ill patient under their captive's trained guidance and suggestions. Alois had to give it to him. Sebastian's skills would be valuable in the human resistance. That is, if he could be trusted.

"I have a new deal with you, Mr Michaelis. We-..." Alois snapped his head towards the exit of the medical centre, frowning at the loud commotion coming from the tunnels.

"ALOIS! SEBASTIAN IS GONE! YOU NEED TO SOUND THE ALARM!"

Alois sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose to control his temper as the child burst into the tent, running into drip poles and crashing into medicine cabinets, causing a huge ruckus. Alois did not have the patience to deal with him. Not right now.

"Mr Michaelis is here with me. There is no need to shout, Phantomhive." The blond demon snapped agitatedly, amber eyes flaring dangerously. Ciel stepped back in fear, seeing the all-too familiar crimson eyes from his nightmares reflecting off the leader's face. His chest tightened, breath coming out in sharp, wheezing bursts.

"You failed such a simple task. Your duty was to guard him, not fall asleep like a baby." The demon continued, delivering stinging words that shook Ciel to the core. "You are a disappointment, Phantomhive. Unlike your father, you are nothing but a child. You may be the youngest on the team, but you have no right to act like a young, pampered lord. We are at war right now."

Ciel remained frozen on his spot. Painful memories of his father's death bubbled up, crushing his sanity. The air felt mustier than before - humid and corroded with a peculiar acrid bite that seemed to cling to the back of his throat.

Mother, where's father? Why is he lying in that box? Why is everyone crying?

Your father died a brave man, my Ciel. He died to keep us all free.

His breathing became quick and uneven as Alois' crimson eyes seemed to invade his mind. His heart was going at a million miles an hour, fluttering like a hummingbird trapped in a cage. A small thought crossed his mind, wondering if he even get away, or even make it to the exit.

William stepped forward, placing a firm hand on Alois' shoulder before he could kill the Phantomhive child.

"That's enough, Alois. The boy is still young, he has a lot to learn. Let him rest for tonight, Madam Red will be mad if you caused his asthma to flare up again. You can punish him tomorrow." The bespectacled man cautioned, watching the demon leader's glowing eyes return back to normal.

Alois sighed, waving William's hand away from his shoulder. "Mr Michaelis. Would you like to escort the young master back to your sleeping quarters? He might fall asleep along the way back. We cannot have him catch a chill in the drafty tunnels." The blond demon finally said, turning to his guest.

"Certainly."

Who killed him, mother?

Demons.

The child snapped. With a quick movement, the child whipped around to grab the firearm off William's holder, pointing it to Sebastian and cocking the gun. Ignoring the shouts of protests from William and Alois, Ciel tightened his finger on the trigger, his lone eye narrowing in anger.

"I believe I will be the one escorting the demon back instead."

"Do you need to go to the bathroom?" Sebastian asked casually, crimson eyes watching as the boy paced around the entrance of his 'cell'.

"Shut up." The child seethed, clutching the gun a little too tightly. Sebastian hid a smile as he turned away, relaxing into the mat.

"You should lock the trigger before you hurt yourself."

Ciel glared at the demon before pressing down on the safety-lock, sitting back down onto the ground, facing the taller male with a frustrated huff. It has been a week since this demon was put under his charge, and he was starting to get bored of playing the mean guard.

The people were starting to get used to having a second demon join their community. With Sebastian's miraculous healing skills and demonic strength, the demon was happy to help with everyday chores and hard labour. Ciel sulked further, remembering how Grell spilled to everyone that his Bassy might be joining him in one of their raids soon.

"Tell me more about your work." The child commanded, tapping the gun impatiently on the rocky floor of the cave. "What do you do? Are you a doctor or something? I noticed that you are always called away to help at the medical centre."

Sebastian rolled over on his side to face the child, staring at his sour expression.

"I specialise in Humanology, or the creation of artificial human souls to be precise." The demon started, eyes growing regretful as memories of his creations screaming begging dying… "My host body was a medical doctor before we- ...I took over."

Ciel fell silent.

"Do you enjoy killing humans?"

Sebastian blinked, cocking his head at the strange question coming from the tiny human child.

"I am not the one responsible for killing my creations. I give life to them." The demon paused, training his crimson eyes on the child, gauging his reactions.

"Are you scared," Sebastian shifted. "To be near someone who has killed your kind before?"

Ciel frowned, crossing his arms, hiding the glimmer of apprehension on his face.

"No. Why would I be. You are just a prisoner here. I can kill you whenever I feel like it." The child huffed indignantly, waving the locked gun casually to remind the taller man his place.

"Yes, my young lord. You certainly own my life now."

"Shut up."

"You're sure you're going to do this?" The man in the lab coat gazed at him in disbelief for a moment before letting his shoulders shake with laughter.

"Of course."

"But unlike the girl before, this time―say, what have you done with that girl?"

"Her? She's well. She's having a little trouble coming to, but soon she'll be fully alert. She's a very beautiful girl, and I've taken a liking to her. I'll treat her well."

"What did you name her?"

"Elizabeth." Claude paused, gazing at the sleeping doll.

"Elizabeth Midford."
