Every Painful Step
.
Summary: Sometimes it's hard to just keep going. But there's always people around you that are willing to help you whenever you need them.
Natsume & Mikan
At the first sign of Natsume's return, Mikan raced downstairs.
Mikan hid behind a pole, watching Natsume's bruised and bleeding body. Mikan never felt so helpless in her life. She wanted nothing more than to tackle him down and make sure he received proper treatment for his wounds. But Mikan knew exactly what Natsume would say.
"I don't need your help."
It wasn't like he never said those words before. However, it was that tone he used that frightened her. He wouldn't let anyone help him, when Mikan knew he was dying inside.
She watched as Natsume's blood left a trail, she could see the pain in his expression, though she had to give him credit for hiding it so well. Mikan watched as Natsume vanished from her sight. Not once did he moan or collaspe. He held it together, something that took years of practice.
Years of suffering.
When Mikan was certain Natsume was gone, she followed his trails of blood. All the way up to his dorm. Her hand went to his doorknob, and sure enough, it was opened.
Opening the door slowly, Mikan flinched when the door creaked loudly. But Natsume didn't notice. He was already asleeped on his bed, leaving red marks on his bedsheets. Mikan smiled faintly. It was still the same old Natsume.'
Mikan tiptoed to his bed, lightly rolling Natsume towards the left to take off his bedsheets. Mikan went into Natsume's bathroom and came back with a wet towel to clean his wounds. Then, after the blood was gone, Mikan washed his bedsheets and returned them to their original location.
Normally, she would've left by now. But just before she did, Mikan leaned in and whispered, "Your not alone."
It was short, I know. But did you like it? The idea popped into mind when I read Thirteen Reasons Why. Review?
