Thor had an older brother but he doesn't remember him. He was a baby when they got separated from each other. Odin loved him dearly but often argued with him because his son didn't want to be a king; he wanted to live in another realm and be the captain of a spaceship instead.

Odin later learned that in one of his many trips to other realms, his son had fallen in love with a mortal and wanted to marry her.

He took away his sons powers, leaving him as a mere mortal. Though he still checked on him every now and then. And he even witnessed him get married and have a baby. Still, he hesitated to contact his son. Hesitated to call him back home. His heart wouldn't handle rejection once again. It was clear to him that his son did not desire to live in Asgard, neither to be a king.

When he died in the explosion Odin knew it before he heard it from Heindall.

His heart broke so painfully; he regretted his desicion terribly only to find out later that his son had saved hundreds of lives by sacrificing himself. That made him proud but not any less heart broken.

Odin had many reasons for taking Loki.

That day after the war was over, he saw an orphan and not just a relic to be collected as Loki claimed.

He saw a little boy who needed a father and he was a father who needed to heal.

He saw a little boy who could maybe fill the space that his other son left empty.

Now Loki was his son, and he was a brother to Thor.

His sons grew up while Odin always feared that another tragedy would strike them.

And eventually, it did.

But that is another story...

Thor still doesn't know he had another brother, or that he has a nephew...

Of whom he would be more than proud.

Captain James T. Kirk is actually named after Thor for me.

I have weird crossover ideas, I know. Just couldn't help it since Chris Hemsworth played Kirk's dad in the movie.

=) Hope you liked it. I thought it would be interesting to write.
