Itachi stares out at the quiet Kohna as he and his partner walks amongst the commoners of the village. The walk is silent and the scenery of little interest to him until he spies a young woman pruning a tree that held white blossoms with bloody red middles. Her pale hands work diligently and she only stops to get her pale blonde hair out of her face. Itachi stops and thinks about what pain that tree and his decision has caused him. Kisame has stopped and turned to wonder if he was coming. He walks away from the small house and hurries to complete the mission they had been assigned. Capture the nine tailed jinchuriki. Though something inside him pulls him back toward memories that wouldn't die. Memories of a young girl who he loved.
He remembered her pale face and the small amount of freckles over her nose. He remembered the honey brown hair that was always in a thick braid down her back and the dark red kimono and forest green obi she wore. He also remembered her voice that was a high pitch, but would come down when she was sad. The flowers she tended with her gentle ways had captivated him even if she never knew. It hurt to know that she would never know that. Her work in the tea shop amused him the way she would her here and there like a bird trying to build a nest. The way she handled her younger siblings was amusing as well. Sometimes happy with them others annoyed. She would have made a good mother if not for his children then some other man. He had ripped that from her as well.
He remembered her pale face hugging him when he left for a mission telling him to come back safe. Her soft lips passing over his own when he returned safe from a mission. He would never feel them again. Her worried tones whenever he hurt himself and the tears that threatened to spill from stormy grey eyes. Those lifeless eyes.
He remembered the night he killed his clan he asked her to meet him outside that damned tree. She came to him with trust in her eyes. He held her tight telling her he loved her. That must have been a lie deep inside. She had asked what was wrong, but he just kissed her. She should have left. He took a kunai to her heart. It was a quick painless death. His last gift to her. Her body had went limp in his arms and he held her until there was no more heat in her body. It was something he didn't deserve. You couldn't tell she was dead all you could see was that she was sleeping. A dreamless and eternal sleep.
Itachi grit his teeth as he prepared to die. He could feel his life slipping from his grasp and knew he had to be ready for hell. It was just a small burden to bear. He got his wish; his brother had killed him and would now have his eyes. He felt the rest of his spirit leave him and felt…a cool hand. He opened his eyes to see a young woman with stormy grey eyes and honey brown hair. Her pale face bore a smile. "Good morning Itachi." She knelt down and held him. He was too stunned to say anything she was dead…He had done too much to spend eternity with her. " Good morning Moriko."
