Ichigo's alarm rang. He stood up and walked over to his closet, where a short, black-haired girl was sleeping. He quietly opened his closet door, just enough to peek inside. Rukia was sleeping soundly, as if nothing can wake her up. Ichigo thought to himself, 'it may just be another Saturday morning, but this one is going to be different.'
He reached into the closet and tapped her carefully on the shoulder. She turned around to find Ichigo staring at her and smiling.
"Good Morning, Rukia." He whispered to her.
"Morning? The sun isn't even up! What time is it anyway?" Rukia practically yelled. She obviously wasn't amused with an extra early wake up call.
"It's…" Ichigo said, glancing over at his wall clock, "5:34 AM. Now get up. I have something to show you!" He whispered enthusiastically, with a gleam in his eye.
"Can it wait? It's too—"
"No!" Ichigo cut her off. "If you don't get up right now, we might miss it! Get up, or I'll have to drag you out of my closet!" He practically screamed.
"Fine." Rukia whined, stepping out of the closet, and wondering what this surprise might possibly be, if it was so important for Ichigo to wake her up at five in the morning.
"And you can always sleep later, after I show you," He said, noticing how tired she looked. He then grabbed his blanket straight off his bed, and walked right out the door of his bedroom, coaxing for Rukia to follow him downstairs.
Once they were outside, and Rukia was speculating beyond comparison, Ichigo had told her to wait for him as he handed her his blanket and ran to the garage.
'What is this surprise? Is he trying to pull a prank on me? Is it something stupid?' Rukia marveled. Then she saw Ichigo dragging along a ladder, and watched him place in against the house, so it led to the roof.
"What is that for?" She whispered to herself.
"You'll see." He said, hearing her question. "Wanna go up first?"
"On the roof?" She asked, still clearly puzzled.
"Well yeah! It's the best viewing point closest to the house!" He answered back, trying to give her clues.
'Viewing spot? What can anyone see from a roof this early in the morning?' She thought to herself as she handed Ichigo his blanket and then climbed up the ladder.
The roof was cold, and moist with dew as she crouched down, trying to avoid falling. There was a chilling breeze that ran through Rukia's short hair and made her shiver.
"You cold?" Ichigo asked Rukia, watching her small form shiver."That's what this is for." He said, rapping himself and the shivering girl in his blanket, and settling down next to her.
"Thank you," She said blushing."So," She began after a short moment, "Why are we up here?"
"That's why." He whispered, pointing West, at the horizon. A glimmer of golden light began to rise above the hills and the city streets. The first birds began to wake and sing their morning-welcoming songs. The sky lit up to a pale blue, and clouds turned a soft pink. The sunlight began to warm the surrounding landscape, as if bringing it to life. It was the most beautiful sunrise either of them have ever seen.
"It's wonderful," Rukia whispered, settling into the sun's warmth.
"Yeah, it truly is amazing," Ichigo said, wrapping his arms around Rukia's waist
She glanced over at him, and caught his eye. A faint smile appeared across her face. This moment was genuine happiness, a peaceful bliss. Rukia placed her arms around his neck, and without realizing, they close the gap between them, her soft, pink lips meeting his, in a perfect innocent kiss.
It may have only lasted a minute, but it was one minute they would never forget.
Ichigo looked deep into Rukia's eyes, "I love you, Rukia," He whispered. "I love you too, Ichigo," she whispered back. "I wanna go back to sleep now." She whispered, with a smile. "Sure," Ichigo said, getting up. "I'd like to sleep too."
