I need to sincerely thank the 22 story alerts, 13 favs and 28 reviews. Thanking also everyone who read and/or was not complemented on the previous thanking.

Six years later

"Hey," Chuck said enthusiastically opening the door and seeing his sister, his brother-in-law and his niece. "Ellie, you could have called me and I'd pick you up at the airport." He greeted her with a hug.

"No, Chuck. It's your birthday." As Ellie was entering inside the house Devon was walking to the door and Clara was running in front of him. His sister walked to the kitchen to meet and greet Sarah, giving the last touch up on the dinner.

"Happy birthday Uncle Chuck." Clara beamed from ear to ear, jumping to his arms.

"Thank you little girl." She gave him a hug and put a kiss on his cheek.

"Dad is bringing your gift."

"Well, thank you already for the gift. Sammy, Casey and Steve are playing upstairs on their bedroom." Clara followed her mother to the kitchen, greeted Sarah and ran upstairs to play with her cousins. Devon entered the door, holding a small square box and gave him a handshake.

"Congrats on the 37, man!" Devon said, tapping Chuck's back. "Here, Ellie chose it really carefully. I think you're going to like it."

Chuck was going to open the gift when the bell rang again. Alex and Morgan were by the door, he having his arm around her shoulders and behind them was coming Casey, proudly carrying in arms his 14-months-old grandson, Noah. Casey got used to Morgan as his son-in-law and three years ago he had to accept him in real terms after he married Alex. Now, the tough and somewhat cold agent had his only weakness on Noah.

Chuck welcomed them as well, got from them the gifts and now that everyone was there, they were ready to start the dinner. They all sat at the table, shared a meal, celebrating Chuck's 37th birthday. He got the chance to be with his sister again for the first time in four years. They had the chance to talk how their lives had turned out. He, Sarah and Casey didn't go back to CIA work. They continued their own line of work, fighting crime as the proposals arrived. Morgan got the guts to quit for real his job at the Buy More and opened his own restaurant on Japanese cuisine, where he was the boss and sometimes the Chef's replacer. Ellie and Devon were still living in Chicago, working at the local hospital and Clara, near completing eight-years-old, kept them proud day after day, being the best student in the school.

The triplets, Samantha, Casey and Stephen were happy and also very smart. The six-years-old understood the difficulties of their parents' work. They were taught to hide, run and even fight back if necessary. It was a bit of a risk having that life, but they seemed to be prepared for every challenge. Apart from all that busy life, Sarah and Chuck could manage to have a normal life, like a normal family. They go to the park, to the cinema, they have dinners out, sometimes just the two of them, they drive their kids to school every morning, get a goodbye kiss from them. They read them stories, cuddle them on bed, help them with homework, attend to their school plays. They even have the measuring night every month, where the kids bring a crayon and mark their height on the wall. A green mark has always been higher marked than others, then a red one was usually marked underneath that one and a purple one was always lower. The green crayon marks belong to Casey, always the tallest, the red ones to Steve and the purple ones to Sammy, being the smallest of the brothers, but necessarily not the weakest.

It was now time to bring the cake and make a wish. Chuck thought really well about it. He looked around: he had his family and friends with him, a job that he could conciliate with his life, and everyone was good. The only thing he asked when he blew the candles was for his life to continue going that good as those last six years had been. Despite some many problems, he and Sarah deserved the life they dreamt of, together. Eventually the dinner was over and everyone returned home, so as Ellie, Devon and Clara who had checked in a hotel downtown to departure the next day. It was time to put the kids to bed and tell them.

While Steve and Casey were debating on who had been the first to reach the upper floor and therefore the first one to use the bathroom, Sarah and Sammy walked to the bedroom. The girl took off her clothes and dressed up the pajama, sat over the bed while her mother gathered up her wavy brown-blondish hair on a ponytail. Chuck walked to the two boys and with them dealt a solution, so they could stop fighting and brush their teeth. At the end they ended up sharing the small bench to reach the washbasin, brushing the teeth together. Both left the bathroom running, Casey ramming the brother to win the race. He took off the sneakers and the jeans, put on the tracksuit pants, took off the shirt, already unbuttoned over a T-shirt with the words Star Wars written across his chest, and lied down on bed.

Chuck then entered the bedroom with Steve over his shoulder, laughing. He put him down and sat on the edge of the bed next to Sarah and Sammy on her lap, waiting for the kid to get into bed as well. When he took off the sweater his brown hair stood up due to static electricity. They all cracked a laugh, including Steve, taking off the black square framed glasses and leaving them over the chest of drawers. He wide opened his hazel eyes looking himself in the mirror while putting the hair down and then jumped over his bed.

"So, mom, dad and Casey will be leaving for a mission tomorrow morning." Chuck said to his children. "This means you're staying with Morgan and Alex."

"How long is it gonna take?" Sammy inquired, looking between the father and the mother.

"A week, but we'll try to make it shorter." Sarah assured, putting a kiss on her head. "You two," She pointed Casey and Steve already exchanging suspicious looks. "I don't want to get calls from Morgan every hour saying you're planning another prank on him."

The two provided a salute, grinning. "Yes, mom!"

"Right…" She said on a sigh, knowing them too well. She put Sammy underneath the bed sheets and cuddled them to her chin.

"But," Chuck reinforced, looking at the girl. "Ms. Samantha "Tomboy" Lisa is also advised to behave well." The boys pointed the finger at her, laughing for not being considered the only frisky ones. Sarah and Chuck put them under the bed sheets as well and gave them all the good night kiss.

That was a night when the couple had nothing to worry about. Usually after they close the door a revolution starts inside the bedroom; they play until they fall asleep. But not day. It wasn't that early, but they were excused with the father's birthday, and they seemed exhausted. Within minutes, the triplets were soundly asleep and they could enjoy some time alone.

"I have the feeling Morgan will be calling us every hour." Sarah said being cuddled from being by Chuck.

"Me too…" He put a kisses on her neck, walking with his arms around her hip to their bedroom. "But that's for tomorrow."

What else could Chuck ask? He had a great job, a beautiful house, an amazing wife, three adorable kids and friends always around him. Chuck fulfilled every dream he had for his life. Dreams he never thought of having years ago. And Sarah? She couldn't ask for anything else either. She had everything a woman wanted and she could still be the kick-ass kind of woman. Mean men? Now they only exist on the stories they tell their kids. Nowhere else.
