AN: Hello to anyone reading this! (Which at this point, might not be anyone). So I've been a fan of this show for a long time. I love the actors, the storyline and the campiness of it all. I posted this story a very long time ago, and I never finished it. I recently had the inspiration to start writing again, so I thought I owed this story justice to finish it. Whether anyone is reading it or not doesn't matter. This story is for me and old self. Anyone else who enjoys it, that's just a bonus. :D
Chapter 1
Carl Montclaire was never a lucky guy.
Even with his guardian angel, Porter Jackson, he could never have a day where everything went right. In fact, he would argue that Porter somehow made his life even more chaotic.
It was lunch time, and Carl found himself running to Dr. Cassabi's room.
"DR. CASSABI," Carl yelled as he closed the door behind him.
"No need to yell Carl," exclaimed Dr. Cassabi, "I'm here, not 'upstairs.'
Dr. Cassabi turned around and to his surprise there was no one there.
"Carl?" he questioned.
"I'm standing right here," Carl muttered, but Dr. Cassabi still couldn't see anyone.
"Oh don't tell me that you're..."
"Invisible...Yeah I am! Where's Porter? said the invisible boy.
"He's just getting his Magic recalibration certificate renewed," Dr. Cassabi said, still not knowing which direction to talk to.
"And he couldn't tell me this?" Carl exclaimed.
"What happened?"
"So, I see a cute girl walking by right, and apparently there's something stuck in my teeth. So I tell Porter to make it disappear, and guess what?"
"He made more than the spinach disappear right?"
"I know you can't see me, but I'm nodding my head right now," he muttered.
"Just stand near the coat rack," Dr. Cassabi ordered. He looked outside his office door, making sure no one was about to walk in. With a wave of his hand, he used his angel magic and turned the 16 year old boy visible again
"Thanks," Carl said relieved, "I'm glad to see me again."
"Don't worry, I'll talked to Porter when he comes back," Dr. Cassabi said, "You should get to class though."
Carl nodded. This was just a typical day for him now. Porter wasn't exactly the best at his job, but Carl knew he was trying his best.
The bell rang and Carl began to speed walk to class. As he turned the corner, his body slammed into someone else and they both ended up on the floor.
"Owwwe," he exclaimed to himself.
"Oh great," a female voice muttered. Carl put his head up as he noticed the girl in front of him. She had dark skin, brown eyes, long braided hair, and wearing an oversized denim jacket.
She wasn't looking back at Carl. Instead, she was gathering all of the books and papers that were now scattered on the floor.
Carl looked up as he noticed everyone else ignoring the situation. He wasn't surprised. Most people at his school weren't very helpful.
Carl finally snapped out of his thoughts as he realized the girl was still struggling to get her things back.
"I am so sorry," exclaimed Carl as he started picking up her books or paper.
"Honestly don't worry about it," the girl replied as she shook her head, "I was too busy looking at my class schedule to look up. I am such a klutz."
Carl noticed the orange sheet she had in her hand was a timetable.
"You're new here aren't you?"
"Yeah, pretty obvious huh," she laughed in embarrassment, "Barely 5 minutes here and I'm already falling apart."
Carl picked up the last piece of paper and then helped the girl stand up.
"I'm Carl, by the way," he said with a bit of confidence.
"Mona," she smiled, "Sorry again."
"No stop apologizing," he laughed, "I crash into people at least twice a day."
Mona chuckled, "Do you happen to know where Grade 11 History is?"
"What a coincidence," Carl smiled, "I'm late for that class as well."
"Well you can always tell the teacher you were showing the new girl around."
"True," Carl nodded, "But what excuse will I use tomorrow?"
"Oh you are on your own there," she laughed. Carl smiled.
He was trying his best not to say anything dumb or weird. Mona was nervous too. She had a hard time at her old school and didn't want to start off her first day getting lost.
Lunch Time
Carl sat at his usual table, waiting for his best friend Jane.
He couldn't get Mona out of his head though.
"So on a scale of 1-10, how mad are you that I left you invisible," Porter suddenly popped in.
Carl was surprisingly calm when Porter suddenly appeared. It usually surprised him or made him nervous that someone would find out Porter's secret.
"Huh," said Carl, still thinking about the new girl.
"Uh Earth to Carl," Porter Jackson snapped his fingers in front of him.
"Oh hey Porter," Carl smiled, "Didn't see you there. Beautiful day isn't it?"
"So I'm guessing you're not mad that I left you invisible," he laughed, "Which by the way I had an excellent excuse for."
"It's okay," Carl shook his head, "If it wasn't for you actually I probably wouldn't have crashed into the new girl."
"The new girl?" Porter questioned, "Didn't we learn our lesson the last time?"
The last new girl Carl tried to help out spoke a different language, and ended up dating the school jock, Serge.
"Haha," Carl fake laughed, "Your humour slays me. But seriously, I didn't embarrass myself this time. Well, except for the part where I slammed into her."
"Real smooth," Porter smiled, "So are you going to ask her out?"
Carl shook his head, "Nah, she just got here. I'm going to try to be friends with her friends with her first."
"Wow Carl, I'm impressed," Porter smiled, "That's pretty mature of you."
"Oh there's Carl and Porter," the two boys heard as they looked up.
Jane and Mona made their way towards the table.
"Hey guys," the always smiling, red-headed Jane said, "This is Mona. She's new. Mona, this is..."
"Carl I know," Mona interrupted as she waved at Carl.
"Yeah, Mona and I go way back," Carl continued, laughing awkwardly.
"And this is Porter," Jane continued, "Carl's cousin."
"Hey," Mona smiled but Porter didn't seem to happy to see her.
"I just remembered, I have to go to Dr. Cassabi for an appointment."
Porter quickly got up, grabbed his backpack, and made his way out of the cafeteria.
"That was weird," Jane said, "Carl, is Porter okay?"
"I think so..." Carl shrugged. It wasn't odd that Porter needed to see Dr. Cassabi. They probably had some angel business to talk about.
"Who's Dr. Cassabi?" Mona asked as she unpacked her lunch.
"The guidance counsellor," Jane explained, "Kind of weird, but really nice guy."
Carl laughed. If only they really knew, he thought.
"So how was your music class," Carl asked.
"Great," Mona said, "Jane plays the guitar too so we're probably going to have a jamming session sometime."
"You should hear her voice Carl," Jane exclaimed, "She sounds amazing."
"Oh really that's great!" Carl smiled, "Glad to see you're settling in."
"I'm just lucky I found good friends like you two," Mona said.
The three of them continued their lunch and continued the rest of their day showing Mona around.
Porter, on the other hand, had new problems of his own.
