It's a Cruel, Cruel World

In which Erza is elected to teach Natsu the facts of life.

.x.x.x.

"Gray!" Erza yelled, marching over to the bar and grabbing Gray by the back of his shirt he was surprisingly wearing. "You are going to do me a favor."

"What?" the poor ice mage asked as he was dragged over to where Lucy was standing.

"Gray," Lucy began quietly. "We have to tell Natsu." When Gray only raised an eyebrow in question, she added, "About… him."

His eyes grew wide with understanding. "Yeah… But why now?" Erza placed a hand on Gray's shoulder.

"We think it's time. He's old enough now. He can't go on not knowing forever. Soon he'll find out anyway," Lucy sighed. Gray nodded in agreement.

"So…" Erza began. "Who's going to do it?"

Two fingers simultaneously pointed at her.

"What? Why me?"

"Because he's scared of you," Lucy said simply.

"And how will that help me?"

"Um…."

"I think Gray should do it," Erza said. "That's why I dragged him over here in the first place."

"No way," he replied, shaking his head. "If I tell him, he'll think it's a prank."

"What about Lucy then?"

"I can't," said Lucy. "What if he starts crying or something? I don't think I can handle that."

"Just tell him to get over it!"

"I'm not like that! You are, though, and that's why you should do it."

"No!" Erza yelled.

"Erza," Gray said slowly. "I think you've lost this battle." Lucy nodded her head.

"Alright," the redhead sighed. "I'll go tell him."

"YES!" Gray and Lucy high-fived each other.

"Good luck, Erza!" Lucy yelled, running towards the door with Gray following suit.

"Yeah, tell us how it goes!"

Erza sighed again and made her way over to the table where Natsu was sitting and eating. "Natsu," she called. The Dragon Slayer looked up, his mouth full of food.

"Urhrmbgu?"

After an awkward silence, Erza sat down. "Natsu, I have something very important to tell you."

He swallowed. "Shoot."

"…Santa isn't real."

"WHAT?"
