Because I know, that you know, that we should be together…
He watched Jo from a distance. She was arguing with a scientist, he thinks the guys name is Dr. Hornsby, and he's glad that it's not him. Eventually Dr. Hornsby throws up his hands and walks away, muttering to no one in particular.
Zane follows Jo and he isn't sure why, but his mission is cut short when Fargo approaches him. Fargo tells him that he needed Zane's preliminary reports on his desk five minutes ago. He resumes his mission once he's emailed everything to Fargo.
Jo has apparently left and he checks his watch. He figures that it will take Fargo some time to muddle through all the data and if he has a question, he has Zane's number. After some seemingly idle chitchat with Sheriff Carter he manages to deduce that Jo is at the gym and he heads over there.
Sure enough she's working up a sweat with the weights and he joins her. Well, he starts doing his own workout in the same vicinity until she plucks the earbuds out of his ears and asks him what he thinks he's doing. He gives her his most innocent grin. "Working out JoJo, what does it look like?"
"Stalking," she places her hands on her hips and meets his eyes. "What do you want, Zane?"
As he looks down at her, he doesn't say what's really on his mind, which is "a taste of you." Instead he settles on, "Just get back to what you were doing, Lupo."
After another suspicious look, she starts doing squats and his eyes inadvertently wander where they shouldn't.
"I can see you staring, pervert." She says to their reflections.
Oh. Right. He decides to move to the treadmill to avoid any other incidence. They run into each other that night at Café Diem, this time by accident. She's cleaned up and so has he and as she's talking he finds his gaze focused on her lips. Then he says, "Do you, uh, do you want to get out of here?"
Jo's eyebrows come together, "What part of 'this was a mistake and it's never happening again' did you not understand?" She's referring to the night that they spent together after he had burned down her house.
He shrugged, "I guess the 'it's never happening again' part." He half expected her to pull away but instead there's a look in her eyes that he hasn't seen before and suddenly her hand is in his and she's dragging him towards the door.
He wakes up to an empty bed and when he runs across Jo later at GD, she points a finger at him. "That," she insists, "was the last time."
"Whatever you say, Lupo." He leaves her stewing and livid and his path brings him across Dr. Hornsby.
Hornsby shakes his head, "I see you had a run in with Lupo. She just doesn't approve of a little rule bending, does she."
"Oh," Zane says with a laugh. "I don't know about that."
