It was a rainy day in Danville. Phineas Flynn stared out the window, completely ignoring his stepbrother. Ferb Fletcher looked back at Phineas.
"Phineas!"
Phineas looked up. "Huh?"
"I said, do you want to play?" Ferb asked in exasperation, holding up a
controller.
"Not really." Phineas replied, watching raindrops slid down the window.
Ferb rolled his eyes then turned back to his game. "Hey, where's Perry?"
Phineas shrugged.
"Phineas! Isabella's here!"
Phineas jumped up at once and raced downstairs. Isabella was standing in the doorway, dripping wet and shivering. Phineas grabbed a towel lying in the clothes basket.
"H-hey P-Phineas." Isabella said, her teeth chattering.
"its forty degrees outside and pouring, and you didn't have an umbrella OR jacket?" Phineas asked amusedly, wrapping the fresh-out-of-the-dryer warm towel around Isabella. Isabella shrugged, a sheepish grin on her face.
"So, whatcha doin?" she asked.
"Nearly dying of boredom." Phineas replied.
Isabella laughed, and Phineas felt his heartbeat quicken slightly. He shook his head slightly, then sat Isabella on the couch.
"Phineas, your father and I are going out for the night. There's leftover pizza in the fridge if you get hungry." Linda said.
"Ok. Hey mom, can I make a fire?" Phineas asked.
She looked reluctant.
"Please? We're 15!" he said.
"Fine. But don't burn the house down." Linda said.
Phineas pumped his fist as she and Lawrence left. He looked at Isabella's still-dripping clothes. He ran up the stairs and went into his room. Ferb was still sitting on his bed, his eyes glued to the tv and his thumbs working furiously. Phineas guessed it would be at least three hours before Ferb came back. Phineas grabbed one of his old T-shirts and went back to Isabella. He handed her the T-shirt.
"Change out of those wet clothes, and I can put them in the dryer." he said.
She nodded then walked out of the room. Phineas kneeled down by the fireplace and flipped a switch and a fire roared to life.
"I wonder if I should tell Dad about that switch..." Phineas said to himself, picturing his father splintering and burning himself.
He heard footsteps. He turned around and saw Isabella standing in the doorway, looking down at her feet. Phineas felt his face burn and his heartbeat quicken to the point that he felt it might explode. The striped white-and-orange T-shirt went down to her knees and she had pulled her hair back into a messy ponytail, a single black strand falling into her eyes.
She looked up at him, and saw him staring at her as if he had never seen her before. She blushed. Phineas shook his head then patted the floor beside him. Isabella sat beside him, her face still red.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, watching the flames and glancing at each other. There was a flash of lightning and a crackle of thunder, then the power went out.
"OH COME ON!" they heard Ferb screech.
Isabella looked up confusedly.
"He was playing video games." Phineas said.
Isabella laughed, and Phineas' heart soared. He stared at her fire-lit face. She looked at him and realized he was staring at her.
"You know Phin, it's rude to stare." she said, scooting closer to him.
Phineas' eyes widened slightly as Isabella leaned towards him.
"Isabella?"
She ignored him. She saw her chance and she was taking it.
"Phineas... I love you."
Then she kissed him. Phineas tensed up for a moment then relaxed into wrapped her arms around his neck, and he put his hands on her hips. After moments that felt like lifetimes, they broke apart, staring at each other.
"Finally."
They turned to see Ferb smirking at them. They both turned bright red.
"How long have you been watching us?" Phineas asked.
"Since the power went out."
