One day he's a geezer who goes on the run

The next he's a midget who yoyos for fun

Then maybe a dandy with cape and cravat

He's been all these things but he's never forgot

To be always the Doctor, the man in the box

With the interesting hair and unusual togs

He's always been brave and he's always been clever

And the universe hopes he'll be like this forever

.

One day he's a madman with scarf and with hat

The next day the cricketer comes up to bat

With his celery stalk, such a fine, sporting fellow

And next he's a rainbow in red, green, and yellow

.

But they're all just the Doctor, the man in the box

With the flamboyant hair and the ill-advised togs

He's always so brave and he's often quite clever

And his friends really hope he'll be like this forever

.

One day he's all covered with question marks (truly!)

And the next his amnesia and hair are unruly

But the Time Lords are his, though he thinks they're a bore

And his hearts call him home when they're threatened by war

.

Yes, he's always the Doctor, the man in the box

With the old-fashioned hair and the oddest of togs

He's always been brave and he's always been clever

And his enemies fear he'll be like this forever

.

The war leaves behind a quite different man

With a plain leather coat and more blood on his hands

And he gives his place (when his healing's complete)

To a chap with great hair and cool shoes on his feet

.

We all love our Doctor, the man in the box

With the avant-garde hair and extravagant togs

He's always been brave and he's always been clever

And we all really hope he'll be like this forever

.

Today bowties are cool and suspenders are neat

Tomorrow who knows what new Doctor we'll meet?

He's been serious, silly, been short and been tall

But he's always the Doctor and we love them all

.
