Chapter 56

I DO NOT OWN TWILIGHT!

I had to admit, the party was absolutely amazing last night. I ended up having a great time. When it was all over and I was curled up under my bed with every intention on going straight to sleep, however I couldn't stop thinking about Embry and Lilly. At first I tried to convince myself that I was wrong but I couldn't be, I knew that fucking look. It was definitely an imprint look. But I was also sure that he didn't just imprint on her either, he had done is awhile ago. That would explain the way that he was acting. I'm not exactly sure if Kim will be pissed or not. And if Kim ends up being pissed that means she'd have Lilly on lock down and under surveillance.

Damn.

I'm sure she will understand though. Then again it's different from her and Jared, especially since this is her little sister.

This was not going to be an easy situation for anyone that was involved.

Oh wonderful.

Well, I couldn't just think about this forever so I got out of bed and went to take a shower. Pulling on some jeans and my old Cheerleading sweatshirt. I slipped on a pair of Sperry shoes from Leah which I absolutely loved before doing something with my hair. As soon as I was ready I grabbed my stuff and left the house. I probably should have left earlier but I wanted to talk to Embry.

I had to tell Kim by the end of the day but I was going to give him a chance to do it. That's fair.

Thankfully when I got to school not to many people were there. I got out of my car hurrying into the building. I went in search for Embry and found him standing at a locker. Which is probably his locker since he opened it.

"Hey Embry," I spoke walking up to him causally. "Thanks for coming last night."

"Hey Piper and no problem. Did you enjoy yourself?"

I nodded. "Yeah I did and thanks for the gift." He had got me this cool sketch book and I was in love with it. "My art skills are definitely going to shine through because of you."

He chuckled saying, "No problem." Then he shut his locker. "I will see you later."

"Not so fast," I grabbed his arm and yanked him back. Probably not the best idea to do to a teenage werewolf but I was on a mission, and I didn't really think about it until it was too late. "I need to talk to you."

"About what?" He raised and eyebrow looking at my hand clutched around his arm. I let go of his arm sighing.

"Listen, Kim is my best friend." Yeah, this is a good way to start.

"I'm well aware of that," he had a small smile on his face but I could tell he was confused.

Shit, well here it goes. "And I would be a pretty shitty friend if I didn't tell her that you imprinted on her sister." I spoke lowly. It was lower then a whisper but with his supernatural hearing I knew he could understand what I was saying just fine. Besides we were the only two in the hallways right now. I had gotten to school early. I watched intently as color left his face. If this hadn't of been a serious matter I would have bursted out laughing.

"What are you talking about?" His tone was defensive. I didn't want to piss him off or anything but I didn't feel right not saying anything either. I couldn't just know this secret and not tell Kim. That's why I was giving him a chance to come clean now.

"I saw the way you were looking at her last night." He opened his mouth to speak but I kept going, "Listen, I know that I am probably the last person that you want to talk about with this subject but I needed to say something. If you don't tell Kim by sometime today I will."

"Why would you do that?!" He seethed.

"Because she's my best friend and I won't keep something like this from her!" I couldn't, I wouldn't.

He rubbed his temples. I could see he was getting angry with me. Shit, probably should have done this outside of school. Oh well, it was too late now.

"I can't tell her."

"Why not?"

"Do you really think Kim is going to like it?" He wondered. "I mean it's like Quil and Claire all over again, the only difference it that Lilly is older."

I frowned. I had heard a little about that whole situation but I wasn't in on the whole story. I just knew Quil, imprinted on Claire, Emily's 2 year old niece. I was going to continue to stay out of it though, it was none of my business. This however is my business considering Kim is my best friend and I love Carole and Lilly.

"I think Kim needs to know."

Embry rolled his eyes. "But she won't like it, and you know t. That's why you are avoiding my question."

I took in a deep breath. "I don't know what Kim is going to do Embry." It was the truth. I mean Lilly is her sister. "However, considering she's with Jared I'm sure she will eventually get over it. You don't even know if she will be mad."

"What are you going to do if I don't tell her?"

"I'm not going to keep this from her. I can't."

Embry gave me a look and nodded before walking away from me. At least he didn't phase.

"What were the two of you talking about?"

That damn Jacob. Had be been listening? Maybe he was listening and he just wanted to know what I would say to him. We'll see.

"Nothing much."

"Didn't seem like nothing." I turned around and leaned slightly against the locker.

"Nothing that concerned you. I'm surprised you weren't eavesdropping."

"I'm trying to get back in your good graces Piper, not piss you off."

I couldn't help but chuckle. "Well that's good to know." The warning bell rung at the point. "Got to go."

"Can I walk you to class?"

I sighed. "Sure." I stopped and thought about it for a second. "No funny business though."

"No promises," he said with a grin. Jacob and his damn grins might literally be the death of me.

"Jacob," my tone was a warning. I knew that if he kissed me then I would just make out with him in the hallway or let him take me to some abandoned classroom and that could not happen. I had to stick to my rules.

"I'm just kidding, come on."

It was actually kind of nice just walking next to one another. We didn't even have to speak to each other. I liked this however I wasn't going to jump up and get back together with him. Maybe in the future we would become something but now, most definitely not.

Once we were in front of my class it got awkward. "Um, see you later."

"Yeah, later." Jacob moved closer to me before sighing and just giving me a smile. With that he walked away.

I took my seat in art and sighed. First period hadn't even started yet and my morning was already insane. Damn. Why's it always me?

I think I am going to skip lunch today. There is no way I can sit at the same table as Embry and Kim; too awkward. At least the library is open. I can get a head start on my English essay. Shit, it's due on Monday and I haven't even glanced at the criteria or anything. Definitely not good. Not good at all. I am currently in the locker room changing for gym and contemplating what action I should take. Kim who's in my gym class wasn't here right now and wouldn't be until lunch because she had a doctors appointment ... it might even be the dentist. Oh well it was one of those two options, I wasn't really that sure. It was a little easier that way because if she was here I probably would have just stayed in the locker room with her and told her everything. That would not have been good. She definitely doesn't need to be told on school grounds.

I was so deep in thought, I had almost missed the buzzing of my phone. Well, I had missed it however I saw my phone light up.

Hey, so we are all just going to go out for lunch today.-Jacob.

It had became a rule a little while ago that everyone in high school could leave during their lunch period, the only thing was you have to come back. It's kind of like a three strikes your out thing. Whatever, I was fine either way.

I didn't text back right away, instead I decided to text Kim first.

Are you meeting all of us for lunch?-Piper.

It didn't even take her a minute to respond back.

Yeah. Come to my car when class is over, I'm sitting in the parking lot.-Kim.

I hurried up and put my gym clothes back in my locker so that I could get out of here faster. Technically, you aren't supposed to leave class before the period is over but as long as you don't get caught your okay. Successfully getting out I made my way to Kim's car while texting Jacob.

Doesn't matter. I'll see you in the parking lot when class is over.-Piper.

I spotted Kim's car in the parking lot and got in on the passenger side. "Hola."

"Hey there." She gave me a smile before going back to her phone. Probably Jared.

"How was your appointment?"

"Good." She commented. "I got my pearly whites all cleaned." She gave me a grin.

"Perfect." Yeah, I might as well keep is casual so I didn't spill. I was going to give Embry time to tell her but if he doesn't by tomorrow I'll have to do it.

"Have the guys decided where we are going?"

She glanced at me, "I think we are just going to stop right outside of the deli by La Push."

I nodded. That's good. It was quiet, quick and simple. The only thing is was there were tables for us to all sit and eat and while I usually wouldn't give a damn, especially since Jacob and I are playing nice, I didn't want to spill to Kim.

From the car we could hear the bell ringing. It wasn't long before the boys emerged. Kim rolled down her windows on her side and my side as the guys walked over.

"Your riding in the back Jared." I said to him as he came to the window. He rolled his eyes but got in the back behind Kim and Paul sat behind me.

"We'll meet you there," Quil spoke and he followed Jacob to his car.

"Where's Embry?" I wondered.

"He left around second period," Paul shrugged.

"What's wrong with him?" Kim wondered.

Nothing, my inner thoughts shouted, besides the fact that he imprinted on your little sister.

"I don't know. He probably just needed some time to himself.

I kept my mouth shut. That was the best way to go about it.

The deli was empty until we got there. I ordered myself a wrap with turkey, Swiss and mayo and had a Raspberry Snapple. As we all sat at a table Jacob sat next to me, Kim was on my other side.

"So are you two back together?" Quil asked as he munched in his chips.

"DUDE!" Jacob snapped.

"No." I said looking at Quil. "We are just friends."

"Oh. So no more you and Ethan?"

At this I crumpled up the plastic bag my wrap had been placed in and threw it at Quil. It actually hit him on the side of his face before it fell into his lap. HA! I noticed however Jacob looked pissed. I put my hand on his arm.

"Ethan and I are friends." Quil nodded. "Now stop asking dumb questions."

At this everyone laughed, even Jacob.

"Your so rude Pipes."

"I know." Sigh. "And stop calling me that!"

"Your right Paul," Quil nodded towards Paul. "Riling her up is a lot of fun."

"We aren't best friends anymore Paul." He only grinned at me.

"That's what I am here for." Kim said giving me a nudge and winking at me.

I have to tell Kim! It's already seven p.m. and I still haven't heard anything.

Should have come clean about everything earlier!

SHUT UP!

"PIPER DINNER IS READY!" Emily yelled, she was probably standing at the bottom or in the middle of the staircase.

"I'LL BE DOWN IN A MINUTE!" I yelled back to Em.

I finished my last three Trig questions before going downstairs. I was still dressed in my school clothes. I had been working on homework since I got home and started some other assignments that would be due next week, like my English essay. I didn't want to have to rush completing it at the last minute.

Sam and Emily were already sitting at the table when I got there. I sat across from them. Em had put together a meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, string beans and I could smell dessert. Wasn't exactly sure what it was but I could smell it.

"So how was your day today Piper?" Sam wondered.

I shrugged swallowing my mashed potatoes. "It was alright, I guess."

"Is Jacob bothering you?" Sam wondered.

"No, he isn't bothering me." It was an honest answer. "We are trying to get along at the moment. It worked today."

"Just today?"

"Well it kind of just started. You know, I have to take baby steps with him." It wasn't a lie so I didn't feel bad for saying it. Actually I secretly hoped Sam would think about it when he and Jacob were phased together.

"How is school going?" I smiled at Emily. Thankfully she knew how to change the subject and fast.

"Good. Can't wait for it to be over but good."

"You say that now but once it's over your going to wish to do it all over again." Sam stated.

I was going to reply to that when the door bell rang. Maybe it was Embry. Did he tell Kim!? Was she pissed at the both of us?!

"I'll get it," I spoke getting up and going to the door. Kim was standing on the other side when I opened it frowning at me.

"YOU KNEW!?"

Oh fuck.

I knew we should have said something to her earlier! Embry probably fucked it all up.

That's rude!

"I'm sorry."

"How did you not tell me?!" Obviously she was pissed and obviously Sam and Emily heard because they came out of the kitchen. I grabbed her arm making her come inside.

"I only found out yesterday night at my party and this morning I had him confirm it!" I got why she was upset but I wanted her to understand. "I told him he had this one day to tell you or I would do it!"

She gave me a long hard look. "So you haven't known all this time?!"

I shook my head no before frowning. "Didn't he tell you?!"

"NO!" She snapped. "I threw a rock at him and ran to my car to come here and yell at you before he could go into grave details!"

"What's going on?" Sam wondered. He was taking his alpha boss stance which made me roll my eyes.

Kim gave him a look, "Your pack mate imprinted on my sister!"

Shock.

Pure fucking shock.

That's what came across Sam's face. "When did this happen?!"

"Apparently months ago but somehow she found out yesterday." I didn't like the way Kim said she. I let it go though, I know she's pissed off and everything right now. I would most likely feel the same way if I were in her position. Shit I would have thrown 10 rocks at Embry, just for keeping this a secret so fucking long.

I was going to respond when the door opened and Jared came in. "Are you alright?" He asked Kim putting his hand on her shoulder.

"Damn, you just walk through the door like this is your house." I was trying to lighten the mood but considering everyone ignored me it didn't work.

"How did you know I was here?"

"It's my job to know," Jared spoke.

"Would someone just tell me the story, from the beginning!" Sam snapped.

"NOT BEFORE THEY TELL ME! LILLY IS MY SISTER!"

Oh shit, go KIM!

Sam glanced at Kim and I looked around but when I looked back to him, he was staring at me which made me frown."Why are you looking at me?"

"Because out of everyone in this room you seem to know the most!"

"Why don't you just make Embry come over here and tell you everything?!"

"I AM ASKING YOU!"

"DON'T YELL AT ME!"

"Alright both of you calm down!" No one was surprised Emily was intervening between Sam and I.

"Aren't you supposed to be patrolling?" It was obvious by his tone that Sam wasn't mad at Jared he was merely just wondering.

"Yeah I was patrolling with Collin and Brady." Oh yeah, the new boys. I had met them, they were friends of Seths and seemed nice. "But then Embry phased and started rambling and we saw it."

"Saw what?!"

"Well first he told Kim about how he imprinted on Lilly and then she threw a rock at him. That was the only thing we really got. He was just bugging out. You should probably go and calm him down." Jared sighed. "You know Brady and Collin can't really do much to help him right now and Jacob didn't pick up the phone when I tried calling him."

What is Jacob doing?

None of my business.

Yes it is our business.

Crossing my arms I smirked. "What's so funny?!" Sam wondered.

I ignored him and looked at Kim. "Why did you throw a rock at him?" I knew it wasn't supposed to be funny but when you think about it … it's humorous.

"Because he takes me into the woods and started fucking rambling! I didn't even know what the hell he was talking about, I thought he lost it! That was until he literally screamed at me he imprinted on Lilly and that you told him he had to finally tell me. After that he started rambling again and wouldn't stop." She took a breath, "I thought he told you before he told me so I got pissed and threw a rock at him while he was going on and then ran back to my house, got in my keys got in my car and came over here to scream at you!"

"Oh."

Sam glared at me, "Oh? That's all you have to say."

"Calm your tits." I muttered without really thinking about it. From the way he was glaring I knew he heard me. Jared scratched his nose trying not to smile.

"Alright, Jared you can stay here but I am going to go check on Embry."

"Right."

Giving Emily a kiss on the cheek Sam left. Of course he glowered at me one last time before officially disappearing.

Ass.

"Well," Emily sighed. "Good thing I made a lot of food."

Jared perked up at that causing Kim to slap his stomach.

"This is going to be an eventful night," I muttered.

If I only knew how eventful it was really going to turn out.
