So...here it is. Day 31, the last day of my New Year's ficathon. I have posted one piece a day for the entire month of January, and this is the final one. Big thanks to everyone who has stuck with me, read, reviewed, and encouraged. It's been exhausting, but rewarding.

I've saved one of my favorites for last. Enjoy.

I might tear you from your daily life and steal you away.

I might promise you the universe and do just as I say.

I might say that I'm the Doctor and you'll always wonder "Who?"

Just because I am the Doctor and that's simply what I do.

I might grumble, moan, and mumble as I mispronounce your name.

I might sneer at your humanity and love you all the same.

I might say that you're a fool when you would think you're being bold,

Just because I am the Doctor and I really am that old.

I might wear peculiar costumes and bizarre accessories.

I might offend the mighty 'cause I do just as I please.

I might say things that make you think I have less brain than hair,

Just because I am the Doctor and I never really care.

I might use you like a puppet if the world needs me to.

I might sacrifice my life before I'd hazard losing you.

I might say that you're fantastic and stick with you to the end,

Just because I am the Doctor and I have good taste in friends.

I might demur if you suggest I tell you of my home.

I might snap if one more person goes and leaves me all alone.

I might say that I'm all right when pain has tossed me like a leaf,

Just because I am the Doctor and I've seen so much of grief.

I might just save the universe and never let you know.

I might love you more than anything and never tell you so.

I'm a madman and a joker and forever on the lam,

Just because I am the Doctor and that's just the way I am.
