He scaled the building, jumping from the flat monsters through the fume filled air. Twisting his body like a cat, flipping and summersaulting, until he landed. Then he would repeat the process, diving to his death, only to escape its clutches last minute. The ebony was free.

The other scaled the pavement, jumping over the erupting gutters and all the other crap in Gotham. Legs blurred, pushing his past at break neck speed. The air cut at his face and hissed in his ears, like a steam train. The ginger was free.

"Where are we going?" the ginger called to the ebony. He didn't sound the least out of breath, despite the fact he was running.

"A break in at the bank. It's about half a mile from here," the ebony called, mid-flip.

"And I was hoping for a little excitement. Nothing ever happens with those," he replied, sounding a little annoyed. The ebony just smirked.

-An Hour Later-

"NO!" The ginger screamed at the top of his lungs. He jumped up, from his fallen position amid ruble and knocked out men. Running as fast as he could, everything went in slow motion. The gloved finger pressing down, the snarl of a smile gracing the attacker's face, the gun jumping as it spat out the bullet. And before his very eyes the small metal sphere pushed through the air, straight into his teammate. The ebony's mouth opened up soundlessly as his whole body jerked violently. Blood exploded from the tiny body as he collapsed. The ginger caught the ebony in his arms, just before impact, calling out his name in desperate gasps. The wounded could only splutter and cough as droplets of blood cascaded from his lips. The red sea erupting from his side dominated the thin fabric he was clothed in, to sink into the grass. It covered the gingers yellow spandex and even stained his skin, white with terror. But he never noticed, too enthralled with his brother's pain. Trembling fingers brushed ebony locks, as shaking words attempted to soothe. And in the ginger's arms the ebony convulsed, each breath sharper and more painful than the one before. It was then, that the ginger was forced to watch his teammate, friend, brother, be set free for the last time.
