This came to me last night, and I decided I may as well share it with others. It may be slightly OOC on Toph's part, but I generally have a hard time writing for characters that aren't my own, and I think I actually did a fairly good job accurately writing her and Sokka. Keeping with my inability as of the past few years to write anything longer than 500 words, this is pretty short. Just a fluffy little oneshot with established Tokka.
Disclaimer: I certainly don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender or any related characters. I just enjoy writing about them.
It'd been a long day of helping his father and others in the Southern Water Tribe with the construction of some additions and expansions to the village. Someone had miscalculated the thickness of the ice in one spot, and Kota had almost frozen to death after falling through. All Sokka wanted to do was get back to his warm home, to his new wife.
"Honey, I'm home," He called sarcastically as he opened the door, quickly shutting it to keep the warmth of the fire in. He had started to shake off his parka when he noticed her sitting on the chair by the fire, crying.
"Toph?" He squeaked, quickly rushing to her side. His heart had jumped into his throat at this sight. Toph rarely-if ever-cried. Something must be horribly wrong, he thought, for her to be crying.
"Toph, Toph what's wrong?" He questioned, kneeling in front of her chair, taking her hands in his.
She opened her eyes, milky white and slightly red from crying, and stared straight to the slightly left of him.
"Nothing's wrong, seaweed-for-brains," She said in a half sob, half laugh. "I'm pregnant."
Sokka's heart skipped a beat and for a moment, he stopped breathing.
"Pregnant?" He repeated, his voice just a whisper. "You're...you're pregnant?"
"Didn't I just say that, Meathead? You need to get your ears cle-HEY!" She was cut off by Sokka standing up, wrapping his arms around her, and lifting her up into the air. She'd grown considerably since she'd first met the Gaang all those years ago, but so had he, and him picking her up caused her feet to dangle a good half a foot from the floor.
"Pregnant! You're pregnant!" He shouted, laughing and crying all at the same time.
"Yes, yes, I'm pregnant! Now will you put me down?" She huffed, yet with the a grin almost as big as his on her face.
Sokka complied, then, as soon as her feet touched the floor, he rushed out of the igloo.
"Pregnant! My wife's pregnant! She's pregnant!" She could hear him shouting as he ran through the streets of the village.
"Oh, Snoozles," She laughed. "Wait 'til you find out it's twins."
Reviews, as always, are more than welcome, whether they're good or bad. ...Also can I just say that the line "stared straight to the slightly left of him" is my favorite line that I've ever written as of now? Because it is. XD Anywho, yes, reviews make me impossibly happy, and are greatly appreciated.
