Remus woke as he felt something warm press to his back and arms wrap around his body. He smiled to himself, already knowing who the arms belonged to.

He felt the other man's breath on the back of his neck as he whispered, "Padfoot?" He felt Sirius stir and tighten his embrace but he gave no reply.

"Padfoot, may I ask what you're doing exactly?"

Sirius mumbled something that sounded like "coont slee" into Remus' shoulder.

"I've gathered that much," said Remus with a smile. "But why are you in my bed?"

"Oh Moony," Sirius whispered into his ear. "It's called spooning. Even you aren't that daft. Ah wait. Moony. Spooning. Rhyming is such a beautiful thing!"

"That wasn't even rhymin-"

"Plus," Sirius continued, ignoring his comment, "my bed is terribly uncomfortable. You of all people should know that."

Remus could feel his face going red before he felt the other man's lips being pressed to the back of his neck.

"Well, Padfoot," Remus said, gathering himself. "With all your useless junk scattered on it, it's no wonder you can't sleep."

"Ah, but Moony, are those books you let me borrow in this category of 'useless junk'? They're somewhere in my bed too, you know, among other things."

"Oh, you mean those books that you insisted on borrowing that you haven't even cracked open yet? Oh, and that you apparently lost in all that rubbish that keeps accumulating on your bed? Are those the books referring to? I'll probably never see them again!"

Remus felt Sirius chuckling, shaking both of them. "You are the only person I know who can genuinely get upset over books," Sirius said between his laughing. "One of the many things I love about my dear Moony."

"Well then, Padfoot. If you love me so much, why don't you let me sleep and go do some of this 'spooning' with Prongs? Or even Wormtail?" Remus tried to hide the smile in his voice but he knew that Sirius would see right through it.

"Fine then," Sirius said playfully. "If you really don't want me here, perhaps I will go snuggle up with Prongs."

Sirius started to pull away from the other man only to be stopped by Remus grabbing his arm.

"You and I both know that Prongs' bed is probably just as uncomfortable as yours. Who knows what's lurking in those sheets. And as you know, I'm the only one who can put up with your deafening snores. So I suppose for the greater good, you will just have to sleep here tonight."

"Right you are, Moony," Sirius replied before returning to his original position, arms wrapped tightly around the other man. Remus felt Sirius placed a small kiss on his neck before his eyes slowly drifted shut.
