Prompt: Loki and Sigyn as children

Characters: Loki/Sigyn

I do not own anything. If I did, Loki would be the main character.

Loki plucked a flower from the tended bushes and held it up to the sunlight. He removed his knife from his side and peeled off the thorns from the stem. The purple flower flew back and forth in the wind. These flowers could only be planted and nurtured by the hands of the Vanir and they were his favorite. Sharp thorns were it's only protection from invaders who wished to steal its beauty. The young god ran his fingers down the petals.

He was so entranced by the shapes and soft groves of the closed petals and leaves that he didn't hear someone walk behind him.

"My sister tends to these." He heard a young voice say. He turned around holding the knife out to him. The girl wore a violet tunic and her curly hair was tied back out of her face. She looked at the knife and back at him. Her lips curled into a smile.

"You won't need that." She said. Loki put the knife away and his pale cheeks turned a bright red.

"My apologies." He said. Sigyn lifted her dress to reveal the dirt and green stains on her knees. She kneeled beside him and took the flower from his hand.

"Do you know how to open the petals?" she asked him. Loki shook his head. He rarely spoke around new people. He was too busy observing and waiting for their next move. She leaned close to him. He could smell the aroma from the flowers and grass on her hair. It smelled so sweet. "My sister, Svanhild says that you have to sing to them because they're shy. When you sing it makes them feel less lonely and they can see the sunlight. It bruises them with light and they feel at peace."

She gave it back to him and placed her hands in her lap. "Svanhild is my older sister." She said. "I have four and a little brother. He's a baby."

"Oh." Loki said.

Sigyn lay back in the grass and watched the clouds go by. Her toes curled in the pool and her hair spread around her like a auburn halo. After awhile, Loki lay in the grass with her. Their hands barely touching, but he was comfortable. He held the flower up and hummed to it and soon the petals spread just like she said. He smiled and let the flower fly in the wind around them. His finger gestured it to brush her cheek and back to him. Sigyn smiled at him and turned her body to lay on her stomach.

"You have pretty eyes." She said.

He looked at hers. Those bright blue honest sea blue eyes of hers. He smiled. "Thank you."

"I'm Sigyn. You're Loki Odinson."

"Yes."

"I know all about you."

Loki thought for a moment before saying. "I don't know anything about you."

"What do you want to know?"

"I don't know. Anything, really."

She turned on her back and stared into the sky. "I like riding horses and singing." She began. Her fingertips brushed his and he smiled. She smiled back at him and continued.
