"Bloody hell, who are they?" Ron exclaimed, noticing two very attractive girls swan into the Great Hall, hands intertwined and giggling. Harry followed his eye line and gave him a look that could only be one of understanding and agreement. He knew the secret bro-code behind the 'who are they?' and it could only mean that they were ridiculously hot.
Hermione rolled her eyes at the pair, disapproving of the way they were objectifying the two girls. Well, that and the fact that she was a little bit jealous on Ron's part and despairing of the fact that Harry hadn't realised he really loved Ginny yet. She gave a quick glance to Ginny who was pointedly staring at her cereal, trying to act like this conversation wasn't bothering her.
"There's no use trying, boys."
"Well why not?" both guys replied.
"Because… they're Brittany and Santana." Hermione replied, with a manner of superiority.
Harry's face read total utter confusion. "You know, the seventh year girls who shocked everyone last year by admitting they loved each other?" she said. Ron nearly choked on the piece of bacon he was eating.
"You don't stand a chance, even if you were a girl. The whole school knows how deeply infatuated they are, even if Santana's in Slytherin and Brittany's in Ravenclaw. It kind of makes house rivalries look a bit immature, don't you think?"
"Wait a minute, isn't that the same Santana that was caught with Zabini in our fourth year?" Ron said thickly through his food, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "I said it once Ronald, and I'll say it again, you have the emotional range of a teaspoon. People do crazy things to hide their feelings from the people they love" replied Hermione.
"And you know this how?"
Her face tinged pink "At least that's what I've read."
Hermione noticed that although Ginny's face was now nearly completely buried in her bowl, her ears had flushed bright red, just like Ron's always did.
Between the Ravenclaw and Slytherin tables, Brittany pulled Santana into a deep kiss before they left to sit with their respective houses. Both Harry and Ron's jaws dropped into their breakfast.
"Honestly boys… what am I going to do with you?" sighed Hermione, shaking her head.
