He walked through the halls of the mansion still tense as he had been in battle. It was always late when he returned, he had many responsibilities. Though it'd be dark outside and in, he never did bother with the lights. This was not unusual considering he was blindfolded. Even so, he knew there'd be light at the end of the hall. It was the only one ever on at this time of night.

He continued on steadfastly. He didn't stop to knock or turn the handle. He just swiftly pushed the door open from the small crack it had been and took several steps inside. Only then did he ever stop to shut the door behind him. Relaxed - finally, he left his troubles on the other side. On this side she would be sleeping, as always, except for that very first time.

[...]

It was his new obligation to go out everyday and do what was needed to help restore his friend's memories. She had asked him earlier if there was anything she could do to help.

"You've already done enough here. There's nothing you can do to help."

Later that night he returned expecting everyone to be asleep, but one light was still remained. He walked quickly to the end of the hall and barged into the room. There she was seated, rolling crayons back and forth.

"Why are you still awake?" His voice took on a harsh tone.

"I just wanted to help." She hadn't heard him come in.

"I told you what to do-" He began raising his voice.

"Nothing." She completed his thought. "I did nothing... but wait for you."

"Well, you can't do that either!" He slammed her door shut and quickly walked to his own. He would have slammed his door just as hard, if not harder so she could hear, but something stopped him.

In her room she now stood by the door placing her hand on the switch as he placed his on the handle.

"Goodnight."

A light turned off and a door was shut. In that moment they finally clicked.
