Maybe It Isn't So Bad After All

Castiel sat staring out the window of the classroom, leaning his chin on one hand. It was Friday, last lesson before the weekend. The teacher kept drooning on and on about geometry and algebra and who knows what, but he was long past trying to pay any attention to it.

Outside the sun was shining and you could hear the children playing at the playground just down the road. Spring was finally coming, the snow had melted away almost completely, giving way for the first flowers of the year. In the trees and up in the sky the first birds were singing and flying about.

Castiel sighed softly, he'd really rather be out there than being stuck inside at school.

All of a sudden something hit him in the back of the head, almost making him leap out of his chair.

"Psst!" he heard a whispering voice from the desk behind him. "Cas!"

Throwing a glance at the teacher, making sure he didn't notice anything, he turned towards the voice calling for him. There he was. Dean. Crooked grin in place and a mischievous glint in his gorgeous green eyes. Eyes that soon made contact with his own impossibly blue ones.

Dean was gesturing towards something on the floor between Castiels chair and the wall below the window. Castiel reluctantly shifted his eyes from the boy behind him to the floor, where he spotted a crumpled ball of paper. He cast a questioning look at Dean, which was answered with an encouraging nod, before he picked up the little piece of paper and turned around to read it.

.

Cas

You wanna come stay with me this weekend? Dad's taking Sammy to some geeky competition and they won't be back 'til Sunday. I have the house all to myself the whole weekend!

Dean

.

He read through it twice, before he glanced back to meet a pair of hopeful eyes, patiently awaiting his answer. He had just opened his mouth to deliver his answer, when -

"Mr. Novak, do you have something you want to share with the rest of the class?" the teachers strict voice cut him off.

"No, sir", he replied weakly, somehow managing to both look and sound completely innocent.

"No? Then pay attention, boy!" With that the teacher turned back to the blackboard and continued with his lesson.

Pretending to be taking notes on the equations the teacher were currently preaching about, Castiel read through Dean's note once more, then folded it neatly and put it in the pocket of his jeans.

After waiting for a few seconds, Castiel snook a final look at Dean to give him a nod in the affirmative. In return he received a blinding smile and a quite flirtatious wink. Blushing he hurriedly looked away and ended up staring down at his own hands which were close to shaking. However, he couldn't hold back the wide smile that spread accross his whole face.

Maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

AN: This is just a little one-shot I started writing in my math class the other day (though my class wasn't about geometry or algebra, but second order differential equations, plus I actually like my math teacher - I'm just so tired of school). Anyway, this is my first published story ever, so please tell me what you think :D
