So. The Future. It's weird right? Haha. Anyway.
A little girl sat at the table, her legs swinging freely off the edge of the chair, tapping the underneath of the table. She was waiting for her father to come home. The nightmares were scaring her again and her mother was too busy with the new baby. She did care, but dad could fight them off because he was so big.
"Riley Honor, where are you?" Riley's mother called from the baby's room.
"At the table mum. I'm waiting for dad." She called back.
"He'll come in soon ok? I think Zayna just woke up too. Why don't you go in and talk to her?"
With a frown much like her father's, she slipped down carefully off the seat and went up the stairs. Seeing a light on, she wandered into the room and saw Zayna reading.
"Dad hasn't come back yet huh?" she moved over so Riley could sit beside her. "He'll be here soon. He said so last night."
"He said that last week and he was gone for three whole days." Zayna chuckled as her little sister brought it up. They looked identical, but one was bigger than the other. Zayna and Riley both had gorgeous long raven black hair, the same colour as their father's and grey eyes like their mother. "That's not funny, because he got hurt." Riley glared at her sister.
Putting the book down, Zayna knew she wasn't used to her father going out and about again. While their mother was still pregnant, he refused to go out, but now that their little brother was born, she basically has to throw him out of the house.
"Dad will be home." Zayna told her. "I know he will. Don't be so negative."
Hearing a door open and shut downstairs, Riley ran down the stairs and almost fell down the last four, until someone caught her.
"Hey now. It's two in the morning. What are you doing up Angel?" her father smiled at her and put her on his hip.
"The monsters came back dad. In my dreams, of course." She burrowed her head into his shoulder. "You didn't get hurt did you?"
Her father chuckled. "Of course not. I learnt my lesson from last week." He walked past Zayna's room and popped his head in. "Five minutes, then I'll tuck you in." he kept walking along and walked into Riley's room.
"I'm glad you're back dad." She yawned as he put her into the bed. "Now they won't come near me."
"I'm glad I could help my baby girl." He kissed her on the forehead. "Night Angel." He put her nightlight on and turned her light off.
"Dad, you know you need to get a new job?" Zayna told him matter of factually.
Her father chuckled as he walked in to tuck his eldest daughter. "I'll get right on it Zayne."
"Good. It sucks waking up to listen to Riley have a whine." She smiled as she looked up at him. "Night daddy."
"Night Princess."
Heading back down stairs, he heard a baby fussing. "You need some help?" he asked as he changed into his pyjamas.
"Sure. Jack just wants his dad."
"Cadence?" he took baby Jack and smiled.
His wife looked up at him. "What Dick?"
"I apparently need new hours."

At eighteen, Zayna Grayson was looking at her options for university.
"Why can't I go to Metropolis?"
"Royal or Gotham is just as good honey." Her mother replied.
"What do you think Riley?" Zayna implored the thoughts of her fourteen year old sister. Riley looked up from her homework, clueless. "Never mind."
"Your father would want you to go to Gotham." Her mother chimed in, doing the dishes absentmindedly.
"What are you talking about?" Jack came in from his sparring session with his father.
"Universities for your sister. Where does Hudson want to go?" Dick washed his hands and grabbed the cereal for breakfast.
"I'm undecided. Morning Graysons!" Hudson Kincaid-Jones sat down at the table next to his best friend. Blonde hair, green eyes and tall, Hudson and Zayna had been best friends since the fourth grade. "But, wherever you want to go, I'll find something to do."
Zayna's parents shared a look that only Riley saw. "Sure you will." Zayna got up and picked up her school bag. "See everyone later!" she left with Hudson for the day, much to the glee of her parents.
"What's so funny?" Riley looked between her parents as the giggled.
"Oh, we know what's going to happen. If Bruce gets involved." Cadence shook her head. "Never mind darling."
"Ow." Jack massaged where his sister just hit him before hitting her back.
"Hey!" they were about to get into it when they looked up and saw their father watching on intently.
"Keep going. I want to see how far it gets before your mother breaks it up." He leaned back.
"I'm ten and I am more mature than my sister." He stood up and poked his tongue out.
"Oh yeah, real mature smart one!" Riley went to throw a spoon at him, but her mother now stood in her way. "Mum!" she whined.
"Riley." Cadence mimicked her voice. "Go get ready for school please."
Later that morning, Dick and Cadence sat on their sofa, looking through photos. It was hard to believe that this was their life. It had been hard, they worked a lot for it, but now it was just about perfection. Dick was one of the top cops in Blüdhaven, Cadence was now teaching part time and they had three beautiful children: Zayna, Riley and Jack. Wally and Artemis visited every so often, with their two girls, Samantha and Emily and Connor and Wendy had their son Alex who was around the same age as Jack. It all ended up better than what Dick ever thought. He found that balance. The reward? His life.
BLAHH. Done. Haha, I hope everyone enjoyed that! xo No flames/haters.
