I feel terribly sorry for this enormous hiatus! I kept all of you waiting for soo long (almost a year, what a bad person I am!) and I'm really, really, reeeaaallyyyy sorry! But I can't promise it won't happen again. School has been a pain in the butt and has taking away my life. So I'm sorry I couldn't manage my time to have a writing space and update this story.

I don't know how many chapters we have left but I can feel this story's end is coming.

I love you all for stick to this thing that's my first fic (a very strange fic) and all I can say is Read, Review and overall ENJOY! :3

We stood there, eternal seconds looking into each other's red eyes. His facade of miserable boy was gone, replaced by a sly expression and a curious glare. His eyes scanned me meticulously, maybe wondering if he should kill me. When he finally talked, his voice was like silk. "What did you do, kid?"

"I don't know why you mean with that. I didn't do anything," I tried to shoot him a sharp glare.

"Yes, you did. Your mind didn't stop," he sounded frustrated but his expression didn't change. "How did you do it? What did you do that you weren't affected?"

I wanted to tell him right away about my gift, but what he said at the beginning was stuck in my mind. "Why should my mind have to stop? Is that what happened to all of them? Or what did you do to them?"

"Answering questions with questions, not too clever, kid" he said as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Why do you care about them, anyway?"

"I won't answer any question you made unless you answer what I asked you," I almost snarled.

He smiled and arched his eyebrows. In a blink of an eye he was few inches away from me. "Don't dare to negotiate with me, kid. Talk or I will find a way to make you speak"

"Then start thinking, because I won't open my mouth and say a word"

Where did that bravery come from? I didn't know, but if felt good. I just hoped it wouldn't get me kill.

"Stupid child," he sighed, getting away from me. "Just forget"

I opened my eyes. Why did I have them close in the first place?

We were all gathered in the Great Room; I could hear our meal at the entrance. I scanned the room and look each face carefully. Sulspicia and Athenodora were there; I smiled. The face of a boy didn't fit in my mind. He was older and slender, and his expression was sly. I didn't know why but I felt as if I hadn't seen him before and somehow I also felt like if he has been here all along.

The sun was setting already after we finished; another weird thing. I could swear it was morning when we got there. Out in the woods, the chirp of the birds died slowly and the breeze got cooler as the moon replaced the sun. Before I reached the tree, I turned around; I felt followed. I expected to see Alec behind of me; instead, I faced the older boy and his obnoxious sly expression.

"I finally found out," he smiled.

"What?"

"About your gift, kid"

His voice saying 'kid' sounded familiar, as if I've heard him talking before. "You didn't know about it?" That was the third strike of weirdness. Something was happening.

"Now I do, and Stefan and Vladimir will be pleased to know that now there are more optable options we can steal," he grinned.

"Steal? What or who would you steal? What are you planning?"

"It is hard to say now, kid, since you are the enemy. But you will find out. Now, forget what I said to you"

That's when I felt it. It was a mix of déjà vu and desire and obedience.

"I want to know now. Tell me," I commanded as I concentrated in that weird mix that made me feel like I wanted to do what he asked me to.

His eyes opened more with surprise but his grin became wider. "It's getting stronger, your gift"

"Tell me," I said, more like a plea than an order.

"I hate you're having this effect on me, kid" he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm part of the Romanian coven; we're seeking vengeance, kid, but we're not going to strike all at once, like they did to us. We have a better weapon that's going to tear them apart slowly: me" he finished, pleased.

"You? Why you? And what does this have to do with stealing?"

He clicked his tongue in a mocking way. "I can sense and manipulate minds, kid. Now put the pieces together and figure out what it has to do with stealing."

Something rang in my bed, an amazing opportunity. But what he and his entire coven were planning, I didn't know if I wanted it to happen.

"You're gonna steal us?"

"Only the powerful ones"

"And what are you gonna do with them?"

"We are going to turn you against them"

"You didn't think all through, did you?"

"Excuse me?" he snarled.

"Aro's gonna find out at some point. From my memories or yours. Or from third persons' memories"

"He won't, dumb girl. If he ever wants and dares to try to see my memories, he will forget he wanted that. And from you, no one won't hear anything if you're gone"

"I won't say anything if we make a deal"

I was taking the opportunity. I just prayed it would work.

"A deal? With you? Ha! You wish"

"Please. You're the only one able to take me out of here"

"And why would you want to leave this amazing coven?" he asked sarcastically.

"There is something off about them and I don't like it"

"Something off?" he arched an eyebrow.

"The wives told me your coven killed Aro's sister as vengeance. What I saw in Aro's head the day I came here didn't fit entirely with the story. And now here you are, telling me your coven wants vengeance, like if they haven't had any before. Something is off and I don't like it."

"You aren't that stupid, kid"

"I do my best to stay above 'stupid'"

He chuckled. "So, why this deal, kid?"

"First of all, my name's Raen, so stop calling me 'kid'"

"I know your name, Raen Witt, but I think 'kid' suits you better"

I sighed. "Anyways, I want you to help me get out of here because of what I told you"

"I don't think that's the main reason, kid".

"So what? Do you want me to tell you?" He nodded. I sighed. "I just might have found the bright spot of what I see as a curse, but I don't think this place and these people would let me enjoy my little piece of happiness. I wanna get out of here. Please help me".

"You fell in love?" he smirked.

"Will you help me?" I asked and frowned.

"You did," he laughed and shook his head in disbelief. "Yes, I will help you. But only because it will be entertaining to see you fight against your lover".

"Fight? Why would we fight?"

"Because he is right behind you, kid" he smirked and dashed away in a blink.

If I was still human, I would have got chills running down my spine, and my heart would be racing faster than a race car.

I turned as fast as I could. His dark red eyes were fixed on me in a way that I never saw before. It was a mixture of anger and understatement and disappointment. I had to look down, my gaze on my feet; I couldn't stand another second making visual contact with him. And I remembered our first fight about the same topic.

"Say something," I commanded, breaking the eerie silence that was built around us. But he remained with his mouth shut. "Speak"

"Do you want to escape alone now?"

I thought for a moment of what he meant and remember my exact words. "I… I want him to help us both, but I'm not sure if it would be totally alright if I drag you into this. It's my second resolution, you escaping from here with me, but I know Aro and Jane would do anything within their power to keep you by their sides. And the first thing I know they would do is kill me, and Jane would be more than please to torture me before my execution. I don't want you to stay here unhappy"

"That would be inevitable then, Raen, because if I don't go I would as well be heartbroken".

"I would ask the Romanian vamp to erase all your memories about me if one or the other situation happens," I remained firm in my decision.

"You would make him erase happiness from me? I would rather die with you than forget you"

I was dumbfounded for a brief half second. "What?" was the only intelligent thing that made its way out from me.

"You are not the only one that has fallen in love, Raen."

It took me a second or two to let that sink in and process it. After that couple of seconds, I smiled widely. That was his way of telling me his feeings and that was all it took him to make me feel weird and squishy again.

I rushed a bit and kissed his cheek gently, the only warmth I could get emanating from him. I looked right into his eyes, our noses almost touching. "We have to find a way to hide this from everyone"

"I am really sorry to interrupt you, lovebirds. I really expected a fight; this is not entertaining at all. And according to our agreement, kid, that is something I should worry about".

I noticed too late that he was no longer grinning.

"But you should worry about…" he fell on his knees and an animal-like scream came from his mouth, so loud it was the only thing I could hear. When his face impacted on the ground after an exhausting torture, he finished saying "her". And behind him was Jane, with her characteristic sadistic smiled now on me.

I'm sorry I have to leave it here, and that it turned out pretty weird and kinda fast.

I still hope you like it.

Have a great week, and make it great if it starts badly :)
