RUE'S LAST SONG
Katniss, Katniss what would you do
If it wasn't for your ally Rue
The one that hopped from tree to tree
Was small and fast and free
When you were stung by tracker jackers
She gave you the leaves
That seeped the pain from your body
She taught you her song
That delicate tune A string of four notes
To try to warn you.
When she fell in the net
Then got speared in the chest
You sang her a song
And then laid her to rest
Without your small ally
You would already be gone
But now since you are the Mockingjay
You can share Rue's Last Song.
FLY AWAY
I see the trees fading;
I am losing consiousness.
Katniss' voice stays with me.
Deep in the Meadow...
It's so dark now.
So much work to open my eyes.
I know I will be leaving soon.
Under the Willow...
The Mockingjays have stopped
To hear Katniss sing.
I can't wait to leave this place.
A bed of Grass...
I will soon fly with the Mockingjays.
Soar above the sky,
Looking down on those below.
A soft green Pillow...
I look up at Katniss,
Give one last shuddery breath.
I squeeze her hand.
Lay down your Head...
I hold onto this moment
for as long as possible.
Now I must let go.
And close your sleepy Eyes...
I close my eyes.
Let that breath out.
Then slide into darkness.
And when again they Open...
Her song stays with me
in the darkness.
It stays with me in this darkness.
The sun will Rise.
And she sings the last part.
... Here is the Place where I love you.
