Castiel liked watching his charge.
Dean was not only a complex human but an attractive one. He pleased Castiel greatly. And Dean was always surprising him.
It had been an exhausting three days for the Winchester brothers. They'd been hunting a Wendigo who'd been snatching, killing and eating (and not necessarily in that order) unsuspecting civilians who'd been camping in a forest in Wisconsin.
Drained, mentally and physically, they limped back to the hotel. Though they were unhurt, they were mostly sore. Sam fell onto the bed and crashed immediately. Dean allowed himself a breath and got some pumpkin pie (God he loved October) and some beer from the fridge. But when he sat down on the bed, no position was comfortable. Eventually, Dean gave up and laid down on his stomach, which hurt but it seemed to be the best idea.
Then there was a flutter of wings and a dip in the lumpy motel bed.
"Cas? What's wrong? You need help?" Dean asked, immediately wanting to make sure the angel was all right.
"No. But you do." Cas could see the tension roll of Dean in waves of what was almost certainly pain.
"'M fine, Cas." Dean murmured.
Castiel said nothing but started to roll his knuckles across Dean's upper back. When he reached a particularly tight knot, Dean gasped. Cas drew his hands back immediately, afraid he'd hurt the hunter.
Dean said nothing but that was all the permission Cas needed. He once more started working out the knot. And he didn't stop. Cas worked all the way down Dean's back, occasionally kneading harder on a knot. Dean accidentally let a sigh of content slip from his lips but he was so relaxed by Cas's ministrations to blush. And soon after, soft snores entered Castiel's ears.
But Cas didn't stop. He worked his way all the way down Dean's legs and even returned to his neck until Dean was completely relaxed. Aloowing himself a small smile, Castiel knew Dean would have no nightmares tonight.
Dean was very pleasant while he slept. The worry lines disappeared, the burdens he carried vanished and he always seemed to have a peaceful smile on his face.
Castiel loved watching his charge.
