Bath time- Ash and Mary-Lynette

Eight year old Jesse sat on the bean bag in the corner of the living room and he was refusing to move. "But mom I don't want to!" he complained watching his mother stand there. Mary-Lynette stood there, shaking her head as she smiled. They had been going through almost the same routine every night for the last four months. Jesse seemed to be going through the 'no I don't wana!' phase of his childhood. But sometimes he seemed to be more willing and got into the bath without too much trouble. But tonight it was one of the tougher nights. He was completely refusing the idea of a bath.

Meanwhile his two year old sister Sarah had been bathed while Jess was aloud to watch some cartoons. His sister was now fast asleep in her bedroom so it was now his turn for his bath and Jesse was refusing to go upstairs and get into the bath tub. "Please mom, do I have to?" Jesse asked, almost begging. He seemed like he really didn't want the bath tonight.

Mary-Lynette sighed as she stood there, watching her son. They didn't seem to notice how hard she found it to disagree with her children. She found it extremely hard to say no to some of the most important things in her life. That included her husband who she found it extremely hard to say no too. It was hard for her to disagree with anyone but if she truly believed in something she would argue her point. And at this moment in time she wanted her son to have his bath time.

Mary-Lynette was the parent who almost gave into her kids. She found it difficult to say no to their 'innocent' little faces and they already knew that at their young ages. Ash was the stronger parent. The parent the kids listened to. His voice was the voice of reason and the voice that enforced the law in the household along with his wife's ideas.

"Yes you have to," a voice told the boy in the corner from the doorway of the living room. Both Mary-Lynette and Jess looked at the doorway. Mary-Lynette smiled while her son sighed, knowing the battle was almost over and he was going to lose. Ash stood in the doorway with a smile on his lips. His posture and the look on his face showed that he was ready to fight with his son if it came to it. Ash didn't agree or like it when his children questioned their mom's authority.

Ash couldn't help but smile at the situation. He knew perfectly well that Jess wouldn't dare argue with his father. Jesse gulped and stood up quickly. He didn't want to even try to win an unbeatable argument against his father. "I'm going now," he told his parents before quickly running up the stairs and towards the bathroom. They both listened as they heard the bathroom door close and lock. Ash turned to look his wife and smiled. Bath time was a difficult time but it was just another day in the Redfern household.
