Figuring things out

Lizzie was usually good at figuring this out. But for some reason this time she hadn't noticed the most obvious thing. She couldn't believe that her older sister Casey had been secretly dating their step-brother Derek for about a year now. It made her feel somewhat stupid because she hadn't figured things out sooner. Lizzie knew she wasn't stupid but it just made her feel slow and just proved she didn't realise everything that went on.

Well maybe Lizzie had realised that Derek had stopped pranking Casey, so she had gone to Edwin to find out why. Because she knew he would know more than she did because if Lizzie didn't notice something Edwin always did. But for some reason Edwin was less willing to tell her. The only reason she had gotten it out of him was because she had physically forced him to tell her. In the end he had just given up because he had never been very good at keeping anything from Lizzie.

When she was thinking about all this, Lizzie was meant to be working on her English report that was due in three weeks. Yes she was sort of a keener, Casey was her sister so what did you expect? Her bedroom door opened so she turned around in her chair to glance over at the door. She smiled as Edwin moved past the door before closing it quietly behind him. He walked over to her with a smile on his lips. "Hey," she murmured, turning back to her desk and closing her copy of 'Romeo and Juliet'.

Edwin just walked over to her bed and sat on the edge. Lizzie meanwhile got up and placed the book back on her shelf before sitting down next to him, her body slightly turned to face him. He leaned over as he planted a gentle kiss on her lips. Lizzie sighed and kissed him back just as gently. They both knew they still needed to figure out how to tell everyone that they were in love. This was probably the only thing Lizzie could make Edwin keep this secret because neither of them wanted anyone to separate two teens in love. They both knew they were only going to be able to everyone after they figured out how to.
