Sherlock Holmes and the Curious Village

John Watson's blog:
The things we saw that day in the village became the largest secret we would have ever encountered in our lives. The secret of the curious village…..
Sherlock Holmes and John Watson were driving in a rented car in the country side.
"Sherlock, why are we going to solve an inheritance dispute," asked Watson, "It doesn't really seem the type of thing that interests you."
"You're absolutely right, John. Normally, I would have disregarded the request. That is, until I noticed something interesting in this situation."
"But it's an inheritance dispute," John said.
"It's not just an inheritance dispute," Sherlock said, "Let me explain: Baron Augustus Reinhold died two months ago."
"So he was-"
"Murdered," Sherlock said before John actually said it. "Actually, not in this case. He died a boring, old death, nothing really interesting. It was his will that was interesting. It said "The Reinhold family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within this village. To whomever successfully locates this treasure, I offer the whole of my estate."
"That's a lot to offer."
"Indeed," Sherlock agreed, "And obviously, everyone went and searched for the Golden Apple. It is still not to be found. Apparently, no one had ever heard of this 'Golden Apple' until the baron had died."
"You're right; this is more interesting then your average inheritance dispute. But just what is this Golden Apple," John asked.
"Who knows? Could be a gem, or an antique of some sort, or something completely different. But I think there is more to the matter besides just some scavenger hunt," Sherlock deduced.
After driving along some more, Sherlock moaned, "Ugh, I hate the country. I've got nearly no signal."
"I hope St. Mystere is ready for a whining consulting detective with no phone service," John mumbled.
"Shut up."
They sat in silence until John picked a random topic to talk about, since he was bored.
"Did you hear that there closing the space shuttle program down in America? That ticked off a lot of people."
"I'm not a big astronomy person," he responded.
"Astronomy is important! How else would we have figured out that the Earth goes round the Sun?"
Sherlock said, "It does?"
"Of course it does, how could you not know that?"
"I deleted it."
"But that's primary school stuff! Everyone knows that," he argued.
"…"
They sat in silence, John still not believing that one of the smartest people he knew did not know basic primary school stuff, until they reached a fork in the road.
"Um… which way do we go," John asked.
"Look at the map."
John pulled up the map. "It's like a puzzle, or something." It said "My village is on a road that leads to no other towns. I look forward to seeing you there."
After a few minutes of thinking, he finally saw which village St. Mystere was.
"It's the one with the red roofs," he told Sherlock while pointing to it.
"Yes, I know. I already solved it. We should be there any minute now."
"Then why did I have to solve that puzzle?"
"Think of it as a warm-up. Aha, we're here," Sherlock said as he drove up towards the curious village.
A/N: So I did a Sherlock and Professor Layton crossover. It has the characters of Sherlock and the plot of Professor Layton. Hopefully it's good. I will make more chapters soon. Bye for now.
