AN:

Yo!

So, I'm having my June Hols and decided to post up a chapter to avoid doing my homework. I'm probably going have to start on it real soon but I dun wanna.

This chapter is just for laughs, I was writing it without any plot in mind and somehow I made Ria look like a complete buffoon throughout the entire chapter.

Alex surprisingly has a sadistic and comical streak in this one but it's fairly small so you won't even notice a bit of it. I hope!

The ending though has a slight tinge of ROMANCE in it but it's just your typical blushing face and doki doki in the heart. Heheh, I'm playing the love card extremely slow in this story.

Thank you for being patient and kind to me for waiting for this story despite that I'm not updating that much anymore. Hope this chapter will give you guys a few laughs in your day!

Just realised I gave some spoilers. Oh wells!

Disclaimer: I don't own Prototype. Simple and clean cut.

The scene depicted at the borders of the Red Zone, with numerous Blackwatch troopers gunning down as many infected as they could, trying desperately to contain the infected civies from entering the Yellow Zone. Commanders were screaming orders at each other as they continued to kill the approaching mass of infected.

"This is no good sir!" A low ranking soldier panted to his commander. "There's too many of them!"

The aged commander heaved a sigh, absentmindedly putting a bullet through an Infected's skull before making up his mind. He turned to his small soldier. "We'll need to enter the Red Zone and destroy its source. The Hives. I've received data from HQ that there are two Hives located near the borders. Destroy that, and we'll be able to make it back home to a cold bottle of beer. Understood?"

The soldier saluted. "YESSIR!" He talked through his receiver on his shoulder. "All units, advance towards impending Hives. I repeat, all units advance towards impending Hives!"

With their orders, the troops made their way towards the source of the never ending infected.

However, they might as well pull the orders off because the Hives were clearly being taken cared of by a crazed, chicken formed woman who was very much batshit insane. Said chicken formed woman was currently smashing as many skulls as the eye can see, screaming/screeching like a drunken fellow. A really badly drunken fellow.

"Yeeee-HAW!" The woman cried out as she saddled herself on a Hunter and rode it into battle before using her 'noble' steed as a throwing disk towards her targets. She jumped off towards the Hives and punched a wall to gain access into it. Once inside the red goo infested building, she enabled her 'Lady Deathstrike' mode in which she released her extended and quite deadly nails. Courtesy name goes to Marvel, whose character's abilities is very much similar to hers as well.

With her lethal nails out, she started to attack the main pillars that held the building from completely collapsing. A few Hunters interfered her 'work' but she disposed of them quickly enough and within minutes, the first Hive building was down.

Alex stood in amazement, seeing the work of Ria Carter on the Hives. At first, he was mildly amused at how happy she was at receiving his gift, but now, he was in complete awe at how she handled in obliterating the Hives. Even he would have taken a few long minutes in destroying the buildings but she finished the work as though it was a daily chore. A legit WTF moment for the almighty Zeus.

Damn, I must be getting out of shape. Alex reasoned to his subconscious, totally not feeling inferior by her. Totally.

Alex's attention was suddenly taken by the scene of the building collapsing into complete rubble. His face frowned out of worry as he had not seen Ria emerging from the building and he's suddenly worried whether she was caught within the rubble. His eyes squinted the destroyed remains of the building and was about to descend from the roof to go and search for her when he saw a hand forcing up from them.

His frown lessened quickly to an expectant smile as he watched Ria pulling herself out from the rubble, completely fine. He chuckled in amusement as he watched her pull an accomplished look and patted her butt from the dust and red goo. Ria turned to the roof where Alex was on and pulled a satisfied smile in which he returned back all the same.

But then, a familiar and not really welcomed roar emitted from the second Hive. A roar that alerted Alex's senses of an even larger threat and one that made Ria giddy from excitement. Glancing back up at Alex, who had a clear 'No' expression on his face, Ria smirked and headed right into the second Hive with intent to see what large booty was in store for her.

"Ria!" Alex called out for her before pursuing towards the Hive as well before being tackled in midair by a horde of Hunters. He grunted in pain upon impact of the floor as the Hunter roared in anger at him. Alex scanned a quick route towards the Hive but his way was blocked by the Hunters. Annoyed and out of options, he readied his Claws to dispose the freaks of nature off the face of the earth. But he'll need to do it quickly. Ria won't be able to handle fighting a group of Brawlers on her own.

Ria was obviously oblivious to Alex's worry about her safety because she flat out entered the Hive with a cocky attitude. She was confident and slightly arrogant about her abilities and she felt sure that she could handle a Brawler. I mean, how bad could a Brawler be? She asked herself mentally before turning a corridor towards the roar of the monster.

She followed where them monsters would be until she finally found herself in a spacious room with walls decorated with red and stinky goo. Ria walked into the room, inspecting the infested walls in slight disgust until her attention was directed to large reddish heap that was churning about at the end of the room. She had mistaken it as a heap of sludge that spewed off from the walls and now, it stood tall on four limbs. It reminded her of a Hunter except much more fatter and menacing looking and it was so tall, it almost reached the top of the room's ceiling.

"Uh... Hiya?" Ria mumbled out.

ROOAAAR! The Brawler roared out and charged towards her.

"Oh Sugar Honey Iced Tea!" Ria yelled out in fear and hightailed it out of the room. But she wasn't fast enough and was tackled through a broken window and out of the building. She felt the wind leaving her stomach as she landed back first on the ground from the 14th storey building. She felt dazed and tried to get her bearings quickly and spotted the Brawler in the same position as her, dazed but still not yet conscious.

"Alex!" Ria called out, turning to the many rooftops, trying to locate her friend for help. "Alex, where are you?!" She called out, staggering to a stand letting out a small hiss. Her left leg felt broken and she leaned on an overturned car. She straightened out her leg, positioning it properly so that Blacklight could heal her broken bone before the Brawler could come to.

The Brawler shifted from the floor and it shook its head to recollect itself. Ria panicked and quickly limped away from the area. Before she could even took five steps away from her spot, she tripped and fell down. The Brawler snapped its mangled head at her and roared in anger.

"Shit." She mumbled to herself and quickly formed into her Flyer mode. But with Blacklight currently healing her, the transformation omitted itself from transforming Ria's broken leg into a talon. Now, she looked like a ridiculous chicken formation gone wrong.

"Ah, fuck me." She muttered to herself.

She flapped her wings desperately to escape the incoming Brawler but barely floated inches of the ground before she was tackled by Hunters. She rolled on the floor like some ragged doll and quickly stood up, the tackle shocking her out of her Flyer mode. Ria stood, face to face with an enraged Brawler and a few dozen Hunters. Doing what any normal human being would do, she ran like a crying baby, screaming for its mama.

"ALEX!" Ria screeched, hobbling on one foot with them Freaks of Nature hot on her tail. She managed to hurdle over an overturned car whereas the horde that was chasing her merely charge at it with minimal damage and the car flew out of their way.

Ria turned to look over her shoulder and groaned at her bad luck. The horde seemed to attracted the attention of a few other infected Walkers and now, a stampede was chasing down her sorry ass. Ria took in a big gust of wind before screaming out for help, "ALEEEXXXX!"

Alex didn't heard his name being called, being far too occupied with his own share of Hunters. They kept on coming and coming and now he's worried that Ria might already be in deep trouble. His intuitions were proved right when his horde of Hunters diverted their attentions from him and instead to a running little woman screaming bloody murder. They joined the ever growing stampede that was chasing her and Alex just stood there, with his mouth agape.

"What the fuck?" He asked himself, witnessing his sorry ass friend running for her life and the horde of infected following her. A Brawler, a few dozen Hunters and a hellish load of Infected civies and Walkers were in said horde. If you looked at it from far away, it would have been the most funniest goddamn thing you could have ever witnessed in your whole entire life.

"What the actual FUCK, Ria?!" Alex cried out, still not moving from his spot. He wasn't sure what to do. Part of him wanted to help her out of the mess but another part of him don't even know whether to laugh his ass off or face palm himself at how stupid she looked.

"Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit!" Ria yelled out, still hobbling on one leg. With her exerted motions, it was difficult for Blacklight to heal her broken leg on time. Either that, or the virus itself had a sadistic streak of letting its host suffer in the most comical way possible.

"Help me, you fucking asshole!" Ria shrieked out, clearly not happy that her friend was not doing anything to help her. "Don't just stand there!"

Alex contemplated on doing just that but a part of him just didn't want to. And just then, his angel and devil side poofed onto both of his shoulders.

Come on, just do it. It's bad enough that she's got a broken leg.

No no, I think it'll be better if we just let this one pass.

Oh really? And this is how you're gonna treat your first friend?

Pretty much, yeah.

She's gonna faint from the exertion!

Where the fuck is the camera when you need it?

The horde's nearly getting at her!

Could've sworn I brought it along when we went out of Dana's.

Stop being an immature ass and listen to me!

Alex merely smiled at seeing Ria running in circles away from the horde and listening to his two sides bickering away when he heard the familiar sounds of gunshots. He jumped on top of a building and inspected the area. Sure enough, he spotted an entire Blackwatch troop approaching the Hive while gunning down any running Infected. His face turned to disgust at them but after hearing Ria still screaming, his lips curled into a smirk. He had a plan.

Ria was getting tired from screaming, running, jumping and basically trying to outrun the horde that was behind her. She needed to rest otherwise her leg won't heal properly. Each time she tried to exert more force on her broken leg, the bone cracked and the whole healing process had to restart all over.

Moreover, she's more pissed due to the fact that Alex ain't doing jack doodly squat to help her. What kind of friend does that to her? Geez.

Speak of the devil, Ria spotted Alex waving his arms at her from afar. "Ria! Run over here!" He yelled and she obliged to his command. What kind of plan does he have now?

Once Ria caught up to him, Alex started running along side with her. Roars from the Brawler and Hunters echoed behind them.

"So, how's the weather eh?" Alex asked sarcastically at the clearly winded Ria.

"Easy for you to say. You weren't the one running for the past 15 minutes. What kind of friend are you?" Ria retorted and panted.

Alex smirked. "The best kind." He grabbed her shoulder and right thigh firmly. Ria was too much in shock to react to his action before Alex ultimately threw her up a roof, well away from the horde that was now targeting on his ass.

"What are you doing, Alex?!" Ria screamed at him from above, confused why her friend would throw her aside like some leftover Chinese food.

"Just stay there and keep your head down!" Alex answered back, still running. Ria frowned as she watched Alex leading the horde away and she pursued after them at a safe distance. He seemed to be intentionally leading the horde to somewhere.

Back at the Blackwatch troop, the commanding officer of the group was slightly muddled over the fact of how little infected that were present. Surely, the deeper his troops enter the Red Zone, the more infected there were to be but there weren't even enough present to welcome them into the district.

"Something is not right here." He said to himself. One of his soldiers had just finished gunning the last of the few infected that were present when the ground shook underneath them.

"Earthquake sir!" One of the soldiers cried out and another one called out, "Zeus!"

The Blackwatch troop was immediately alerted as they spot Zeus appearing from around the corner of a block, running straight for them.

"Shoot Shoot Shoot!" The Commander cried out and his troops began to fire their guns at the incoming Zeus. Zeus didn't pay that much attention to the bullets that were attacking him and merely smiled. Once he was near the troop, he charged his jump and vaulted straight clear over the entire Blackwatch troop. And he kept on running.

"What the-? Did he just ignored us?" A soldier asked, a slight hurt tone in his voice.

"I think so. But where is he running to?" Another asked when the earthquake heightened as the seconds rolled by. A loud roar came from where Zeus had appeared and the stampede that was pursuing Zeus appeared from around the corner.

The sight of that many Infected approaching their sorry little troop was enough to make the Blackwatch men pee in their pants.

"Holy Fuck! Shoot, you idiots!" The Commander cried and began the tiring cycle of Blackwatch fruitlessly gunning down the entire horde of Infected.

"RRRGHH! Damn you, Mercer!" The Commander added as he gunned down countless of Hunters and Walkers. The Brawler proved to be more challenging and it was clear that his troop was nothing but canned tuna to these savages.

"That was your plan?" Ria asked Alex after witnessing him intentionally leading the horde towards those -maybe- innocent Blackwatch men.

Alex turned to her as he jumped rooftop after rooftop. "What? It's better than killing all of them one by one." He shrugged.

Ria rolled her eyes, shifting her body uncomfortably in his arms. "You know, you don't have to carry me like this." She wasn't that comfortable with the fact that he was carrying her bridal style back to Dana's.

"Yeah well, I'm not the one with the broken leg." Alex answered.

"If you had saved me from that horde earlier, there wouldn't be any broken leg." Ria cried.

"Sure sure, I'm the bad guy in here. But if you had listened to me from the beginning, then this wouldn't have happened."

Ria pouted, angry with the fact that Alex was right and it was her fault. But she blushed all the same because of the way he was carrying her. Her heart seemed excitable at that moment and she cleared her throat.

"But I'm still gonna face off with that Brawler some day." She said, determined.

"That day is not today. And neither will it be on any other day. You're not going to fight a Brawler unless I'm there with you." Alex gave her a serious look.

"What Alex doesn't know won't hurt him~" Ria grinned a cat smile at him. Alex rolled his eyes.

"Prick." He muttered under his breath.

"Asswipe." Ria answered back just as fast.

Alex smiled at her playful attitude, a blush faintly forming.
