Chapter 22

I lift my head to look at the cracked wall as I wiped my eyes off one last time on the back of my hands before I straighten my shoulders out. There was more work to be done that I needed to finish so I could distract myself from thinking about Spock and our fight so I could come up with yet another apology that I owe him. Like I owe that man anything, his fault we're stuck on this stupid planet in the first place. As I start to grab for a piece of fruit I hear the door creak open causing me to sigh out load and drop the food back onto the table in frustration.

"I need a fucking break from you, take the hint." I say as I start to boil with anger again as I turn around to get into another fight with him before I gasp in surprise.

"Don't I know you human girl?" Asks the Klingon leader from back in the day when they tried to steal the Enterprise from us and boarded the ship.

I grip the table tightly as I start to panic as I look over at Spock who was held a gun point by the three Klingons with green blood dripping from his nose and mouth. They probably got the drop on him because his guard was down due to our fight which distracted him from paying attention to his surroundings.

Who the hell would have guessed the same Klingons would end up on the same planet as us?

"I think I do, human." He says as he starts to advance towards me with his phaser pointed at me causing Spock to struggle under the other two who were holding him still.

I look over at Spock who shakes his head at me before I look back at the Leader and release my hands from the table with a dark glare on my face. When the Leader takes another step closer to me I shoot forward closer to him and grab the arm with the phaser and swing around him, bending his arm to drop the phaser in my hand before I kick the back of his knee cap, dropping him to the floor.

"Drop your phaser!" I yell at the other three as I point my phaser at them while holding the Leader onto the ground, ready to snap his arm, before one of them shoots me in the arm before I could finish my sentence.

I yelp in pain and release both the phaser and the Klingon as I grip my bleeding arm before getting elbowed in the face and falling to the ground with blood dripping from my face and arm.

"Puny Human!" The Leader yells before kicking me in the stomach causing me to yell in pain as I curl into a ball to grip my stomach before he kicks me in the back as he picks his phaser off the ground.

I lay there gasping for air in pain as Spock struggles harder to break away before getting punched in the stomach by the Leader and pushed down to his knees by the other two. I glance up at all of them with tears in my eyes as I struggle to reach for anything close to my position as Spock looks up at me gasping for air as well. I should have listened to him when he was shaking his head at me; he knew I would try to take one of them down like a moron.

Me, take on a Klingon like I was some badass fighter when I was nothing, but a child.

I close my eyes to hold back the tears while I calm my pain and breathing down as the three of them argue in Klingon before I pull myself off the ground using the wooden table. All four of them look over at me, struggling to get to my feet, before I reach over and slide a dirty knife closer to me.

"Kill the Vulcan, leave the Human to me." The Leader says as he walks over to me while the other two lift Spock off his knees to drag him outside.

"You may have me, but leave her out of this, I will fight you." Spock says as he tries to reason with them before being pushed outside and thrown into the dirt while the two Klingons chuckle at him.

"I'm going to enjoy breaking you down. You will beg for death." The Leader says before he clicks his phaser to his belt and switches to his large blade while I grip the knife tightly in my hand as I stand straight up, spitting the blood from my mouth.

I take a deep and count to ten in my head before grabbing a piece a fruit and throw it as a distraction as I turn to face him. He throws his hand up to block his face from the fruit before I grab that hand and pull him forward with such force my knife goes straight into his neck. He chokes up blood from his neck as he tries to raise his knife to stab me before I push him to the ground trying to calm my nerves while I stand there watching him slowly die on his own blood. I reach down and grab his knife from his hand before stepping on the knife to hold it in place while I watch him struggle to remove he knife.

I wipe my face on my hurt arm, smudging his blood more on my face before clenching his knife tightly in my hand as I make my way towards the door. I walk over to the fire place and grab a piece of fire wood and throw it against the wall to make some noise to draw one of the two into the house, hopefully before they kill Spock. He is never going to look at me in the same way again, no one will since I am killing Klingons which can start a galactic war between them and the Federation. They started it.

"What is taking him so long?" One of them growls before they both turn around at the notice coming from inside the broken cabin.

"Go check it out so we can leave this rotten planet." The other one says before pushing the first one towards the cabin making him growl in protest before opening the door and walking into the cabin. He looks around the cabin until his eyes land on his dead Leader lying on the ground with a knife in his neck.

I close the door behind him before I jump on his back and stab him multiple times in the neck as he swings me around trying to detach myself from his back. He yells in protest before slamming me against the wall causing me to fall off as he grips his neck, trying to stop the bleeding from spurting from his neck. I stumble off the ground and walk over to him while gripping my arm in pain before I stand over him and kick him right in the neck causing him to stop moving.

"You are in direction violation between the Federation and Klingon Empire." Spock says to the last Klingon with his hands behind his head as he tries to glance back at the cabin.

"Quiet Vulcan. You're numbers are already in the thousand, what is losing one more going to do?" He says before he kicks Spock in the back making him lay flat in the dirt.

Spock grunts as his face hits the ground, blowing away the dirt near his mouth before hearing a grown from above him and glance behind him as the Klingon solider falling forward. He rolls out of the way as the Klingon hits the ground with a thud as blood starts to flow out of his mouth causing Spock to look over at the knight in his back. A Klingon knife.

Spock tries to catch his breath at the shock of the dead Klingon before looking over in the direction of the cabin and see's me standing in the door way with blood dripping down my arm and Klingon blood on my chest and face. He slowly pulls himself off the ground as he stares at me in complete shock, unsure of what to do or even say, before looking in another direction at the sound of voices and feet stomping on the ground.

"Spock!" Kirk says as he runs up to Spock with a red shirt behind him with their phaser in their hands. "You're alive?" He says Jim disbelief and relief at the same time with a smile on his face before looking over at me in front of the cabin and drops his smile. "Holy shit." He says as I roll my eyes and slide to the ground in pain before the tears finally fall down my face in pain and frustration.

Jim looks down at the dead Klingon on the ground with the knife in his back while Spock looks back at me with that same look on his face. I refuse to meet his eyes as I drop my head before the red shirt pulls me off the ground and wraps his arm around my waist as Jim takes the knife out of his back before he looks back at me while pulling out his communicator.

"Enterprise, four to beam up." Jim says before tucking away his communicator and looks down at the bloody knife in his hand as all four of us get beamed back to the ship.

When we arrive on the ship, Scotty and Bones are standing in front of the Transporter before rushing towards me causing the red shirt to hand me over to both of them.

"We need to get her to the Medical Bay immediately!" Bones yells as he and Scotty wraps their arms around me and drags me off to the elevator while Jim and Spock stand on the Transporter bay as the red shirt walks away.

"Did she do it?" Jim finally asks quietly to Spock while he looks down at the knife in his hand and Spock just stares at the ground unsure of what just happen. We he doesn't say anything back it causes Jim to look up at him, worried, before putting his hand on his shoulder and walking out of the room. "I'll call Admiral Pike and tell him what happened with the Klingons." He says back to Spock who finally looks up from his spot.

A few hours later, after I have taken a long, over-due shower and had Bones heal my damaged arm from the phaser blast, I am now sitting in Jim's office with him, Spock, and Admiral Pike on video chat to talk about how long we were on the planet.

"Time seems to be faster on the planet then it was on the Enterprise, what one day was for us, was a few days for them." Jim starts to say as he reads off the PADD as I stare at the Klingon knife on his desk while Spock stares at the wall and Pike stares at me not listening to Jim. "The Klingons came by a few days ago and got trapped on the planet themselves before we were able to warn them about the barrier. Eventually Scotty was able to find a way through it to get them both out, but not before the Klingons had found them." He says before looking over at me and setting the PADD down next to the knife on his desk as Pike leans on his hands.

"I want to hear it from her about what happen, I know what the report says Jim, I need to hear it from her." Pike says as he lifts his head form his hands and drops them on his desk as Jim sits down at his desk before all three of them look over at me.

I take a shaky breath before I clench my first and start to rub it back and forth on my thigh as I try to calm my nerves. "I did it." I say quietly as I start to rock back in my seat like I always do before I have a panic attack and start to hyperventilate. I can't think, I can't breathe, and all I see is their blood spilling onto the ground and the looks on their faces before they chock to death. "Maybe we should wait another day to do this; she hasn't slept and is clearly still shaken up by all this." Jim says as he motions towards me with his hand before reaching over his desk to try and grab my arm to stop me from rocking.

"I did it! I killed them; I took their lives and watched them die." I yell at them as I start to rock back and forth harder while digging my fist into my thigh before Spock leans over and hugs me tightly to stop my motion. He wraps his arms tightly around my body as I press my face into his shoulder to try and catch my breath so I don't start sobbing like a child.

"We are done here." Spock says darkly as he glances back at Jim and Pike causing both of them to stiffen up in their seats before Spock lifts me from the chair and pulls me out of the office.

He drags me to the nearest closet and slams his hand on the controls before the door slides open and stumbles into before squeezing me tightly to his chest as my tears soak into his shirt.

I've never killed someone before let alone three people at one time, even if they were Klingons who attached us, this is something that will always stick with me for the rest of my life and I am not ready for that. "I'm so sorry." I start saying over and over into his chest as I grip the front of his shirt tightly in my hands till my knuckles turn white as he keeps me pressed against him.

Spock takes a deep breath trying to keep his emotions from showing, but the longer they stand there in the closet and the sounds of her voice begging for forgiveness, he starts to crack under the strain. He wasn't strong enough to protect her from the three Klingons and it got to the point where she had to take a life to defend herself and will now live with that fact the rest of her life. He should have been the one to take their lives and live with that burden that he could hide behind a wall in his mind; her mind is so scarred she will never forget this.

Spock pulls away from me and grabs my face between his hands to see can lift my head and meet my eyes as he wipes the tears off of my face. "You are not to blame for this; I have failed you as a mate. I could not protect you from harm and now you will forever suffer with this memory in your mind."

I wrap my hands around his wrist as I start to shake my head as I take a shaky breath while sniffling at the same time. "No…..don't say that." I try to say through my sobs as he bites his bottom lip and presses his forehead against mine as I feel all of his regret and sorrow pour into my head and mix with mine.

"I am sorry that I failed you." Spock says to her as his walls finally break under the stress in his mind causing them to fly through their contact into her mind combined their pain and suffering into one pile of raw emotions.

"I forgive you" I say quietly to him as I remove my hands form his wrist and pull him tightly against him before switching positions and press his face against my shoulder. Spock wasn't crying, but his shoulders were slightly shaking and I could feel everything he was feeling and all we could was just hold each other and wait out the storm.

When our episode finally passed we walked to his bedroom and sat on his couch drinking two cups of Vulcan tea while he had some incense lit in the corner to try and calm the tense and emotions. I take a small sip of my tea before looking over at him with a small smile on my face, I hated this tea, I hate all tea, but if it makes him feel better then I will keep drinking it.

"We should call your dad and let him know what happen." I say as I lean forward and place my cup of tea on the table before turning to him as he places his cup back on its plate and looks over at me.

"It is protocol for Starfleet to alert family members of situations such as this." Spock says trying to get out of talking to his father like he always does when I bring up the topic of him calling his father.

"Spock, please." I say as I stare at him for a few seconds before he places his cup on the table and walks over to his console while grabbing his chair and sits down in front of the screen. He stiffens up in his chair as he starts to make the call as I pull up a chair next to him and place my hand on his knee in comfort to let him know I was still here beside him.

As soon as his father appears on the screen his hands shoots for mine and squeezes it for reassurance as I wave slightly to his father who is surprise by the call and by my presence in the call. I pull up the greeting sign in Vulcan as I nudge Spock slightly to do the same thing before his father shows us the sign in return still shocked at us, he could not see our hands together, but I'm sure if he did, it would be even more awkward.

"I will admit, this is a surprise to hear from you as well as see you have company during our call. I expected your call after I spoke with Admiral Pike; however I was not expecting her." Sarek says from his side of the screen as I glance over at Spock who was trying to think of a response before I step in to cover him.

"Hi, I'm Danielle, I was with him on the last mission and I thought it would be a good idea for him to call you to tell you our side of the story." I say leaning over slightly to get a better look of him as he tucks his hands into his sleeves of his rob and looks over at Spock to observe his response to me.

"We both have turned from the mission and reported back to Admiral Pike about our situation with the Klingons who arrived on the planet after we did and advanced towards us first." Spock says as he runs his two fingers over mine, under the desk, pressing comforting thoughts to me to keep me calm about this topic.

"I am pleased to hear that both of you are unharmed and reported back to the Enterprise. I am meeting with the Elder Counsel and will be reporting with the rest of Starfleet about the Klingons crossing over into Federation Space." Sarek says as I let out a small breath that I was holding in before I look up at Spock with acknowledgement that the call can now end.

I just wanted him to call and let his father know he was alright and now that he knows, Spock will probably wait another few months before he calls again. "Well, it was nice meeting you, I am very tired after the events that have happened and I would like to rest." I start to say as I push my chair back from the desk and pull my hand away from Spock's as he turns to me before looking at his father.

"I too agree with her response and will call if more details arrive." Spock says as he holds his hand up to his father again before closing the call before he could respond. He straightens his shirt before looking over at me, slightly exhausted, as I stand from my chair and hold my hand out to him to take.

"Let's try and sleep tonight and hopefully I will be ok enough to talk to Pike and Jim about everything that happened." I say before taking his hand and walking over to his bed before lowering the lights and sliding into his bed that was twice as big as mine.

Spock follows behind me onto the bed and slides his arms around me to pull my back against his chest in a protective manner as I lay my hands onto his before I send comforting thoughts back to him.
