Chapter 27: Waking up to your dream

I looked at her gentle sleeping face as she laid down the white sheets. Her short blond hair was now reaching her chest. Her mouth and nose were obstructed by an oxygen mask.

5 months have passed. Ever since that final plan.

Rinto and Lenka are still together, stronger than ever. The Hagane took in Dell-san and Haku-san in their care. After all, they were Lenka's family, and Lenka was the legitimate successor to the family. But not wanting to put the burden on Lenka, Rinto still led the family for her.

But now, he wasn't alone.

"Hey, Rin... It's me, Len. I missed you." I said with a smile.

"You know, the Hagane and Kagamine families... they merged into one big family now. The Secret Police... it's finally here now, Rin." I narrated to her.

The families merged together into an organization for peace, just like how Rin had wanted it to happen. The Secret Police was led by Rinto, Lenka, and me, with Lily-san supporting us as the adult.

"It was Gakupo-san and Luka-san's wedding last week. You know, Luka-san wanted to put off the wedding to until you wake up, but then you'd be sad if they don't form their family properly, right?" I chuckled. "Luka-san is going back to modeling after their honeymoon. Too bad for IA since she's left with Miku-nee at home."

I could imagine her giggle at the stories I'm telling her.

"Miku-nee and Kaito-sensei are now a couple. We're surprised that they knew each other. Small world, huh? It's funny how Miku-nee was all tsundere to him. But you know, it won't take long until Kaito-sensei would decide to propose to her. She'd be very glad."

I clutched the middle part of my body. "I survived the operation three months ago, Rin. I'm recovering already. That's why...

...hurry and wake up, okay?"

A sad smile graced my features as I looked at the still sleeping Rin. She had fallen into a coma for 5 months after getting hit by the chair on her head.

Defoko-san had fallen into a pitiful state. She went out of her sanity, and it was painful to watch her mourn for her father and her already long-ago dead husband. The men with Lily-sama helped in getting a hold of Defoko-san and bringing her into a place safe. Gakupo-san and Lily-san had helped her by financing her expenses as she was sent to a rehabilitation center for mentally unstable people. We would often visit her to keep her company, despite what she did to us and our lives. Although, the only people she recognize are Gakupo-san, his sister, and Lily-san. And all she said were apologies, and called out to her husband a lot.

Meiko-san and Akaito-san are also in a relationship, and were now acting as Teto-chan's parents. Teto was now attending school, although she enrolled a bit late. She was glad that the family wars were over, but she'd always feel sad because of Rin's state and blame herself for her situation. We told her it was no one's fault.

"Everyone's waiting for you, Rin... You're the only missing piece, and our dreams will finally be fulfilled...", a tear escaped my eyes as I watched her. I always held onto her hand, hoping that a day will come and she'll grasp back and open her eyes.

A knock was heard on the door. I turned around to see Rinto and Lenka entering the room with flowers.

"Len. Rin." Lenka said as a greeting. I smiled at them in acknowledgement.

"My sister is still sleeping, huh?" Rinto said with a sad smile. "It has been so long." He took two chairs from the side of the room and placed them on Rin's bedside. Lenka, after arranging the flowers they brought, sat on the chair, muttering a small "thanks" and Rinto followed suit.

"You probably miss us already, right?" Lenka said and smiled.

"Len, is it really alright for you to get out already? Your wound is still recovering." Rinto asked.

"Yeah, is it alright? I was worrying about that at the wedding last week when you attended." Lenka looked at me with a worried face.

I smiled. "I'm alright. Besides, you do know how much I missed Rin, right?" They returned a smile.

"We do know how much you missed her. One time you fell asleep when you visited Rin, you were murmuring her name." Lenka said with a giggle.

"Hey, sis. Look at your loving boyfriend. He's still head over heels for you." Rinto said with a smirk. I blushed, but then laughed.

Just like this, the three of us would talk to Rin, just as if it was four of us talking. We never let her feel alone, and we would always make her understand that we're waiting for her.

"Rin, we've made all your wishes come true now..."

I never let go of her hand, which had wires connected to her as life support.

"...and the only thing left is you, Rin..."

God, please... Let there be a reaction from her... Please... give us another miracle... I beg you... wake her up.

"..I love you, Rin." I said and smiled at her.

Then, I felt fingers grasp my hand back, albeit weakly.

After two years...

"As the representative of the graduating class, let us hear the speech of Ms. Rin Kagamine.", the teacher who was the MC of the program said. Claps were heard from the students. I stood up and went up the stage.

Everything... all of this is a miracle.

"Hello, fellow graduates." I said with a grin.

"You see, I'm no good with formal speeches. But first, congratulations to us for surviving high school!" I paused and clapped my hands, which were followed by the students.

"You know, one thing I have learned the most during my stay at school was how to live. To tell you the truth, I was previously a home schooled girl due to some reasons and never got to experience outside that much. I saw the difference the first time I stepped into Crypton University. That time, I knew that simply existing was different from living. Existing was just the presence of the physical body. But when you live, you leave impressions to other people and truly using your time to do what you should to make people happy. So I tell you, in the next chapters of our stories, we should live it to our fullest and never regret anything. To cut everything short, all I want to say is thank you for the wonderful memories, and good luck to all your endeavors. Kudos, everyone!" hands clapped as I finished delivering the speech.

After the program, everyone had scattered in the school grounds for the farewells to each other.

I searched for Len, Rinto and Lenka, and I find them standing under a cherry blossom tree with Miku-nee and Kaito-sensei. They're getting married next year!

"Len!" I called their attention. They welcome me with a smile as I approached them.

I smiled. I never would have thought we'd reach this far. I never thought we'd finally achieve the days of peace that we strongly wished for.

"Alright, picture time!" Miku-nee exclaimed, getting the camera ready. I stood beside Len, who was beside Rinto who had Lenka beside him.

I could never thank God enough for waking me up from my deep slumber. And he didn't take away a lot of my memories, too.

"All together now, say cheese!" Miku-nee said as a signal. Len had his right arm around my shoulder and held onto his diploma with a big grin, I held out my diploma and smiled while in his arms. Rinto placed his hand on Lenka's head and made it lean on his chest, leaving a flustered but smiling Lenka holding onto her diploma, and Rinto had a smile on his face.

The camera went 'click', then I saw mom, Aunt Luka, Gakupo-san, IA-chan, the now married Meiko-san and Akaito-san, and Teto-chan approaching us. I'm really blessed to have these precious people with me right now.

I looked at Len who was smiling brightly. I smiled back, and gave him a kiss on his lips.

Thank you, God, for not taking him away from me. Thank you for still letting me be right here, in a peaceful world... loving my right hand man.

A/N: *sobs uncontrollably* Finally, the story has ended! I am so happy and sad at the same time. Happy because this is a big accomplishment in my part. Sad because I'm going to miss writing for this fanfiction. But overall, I'm totally glad that I finished this. :D

[Update: August 11, 2015] I also finally finished editing this story! I know I had many mistakes on this, since I wasn't a very good writer when I started writing this. Still the same story, just clarified some things and edited grammar errors. I removed the Author's notes, too, seeing as they're just nothing but greetings and apologies for late updates. xD
