Dust to Dust
Journeying through the universe,
Across all time and space.
Seeing how things move through time,
Seeing what time's defaced.
…
Cities tall in grandeur,
To be felled in rage.
And I have to sit and watch,
For all the world's a stage.
…
From stone to bronze to iron,
Three steps not always made.
Some species fall, I can only watch,
As into history they fade.
…
Land falls into water,
Nature reclaims its place.
Eventually all comes to dust,
It's seen through time and space.
…
I cannot mourn, I cannot judge,
Can't change what must always be.
Have to turn away and continue on,
Sailing time's empty sea.
