A/N: I think it would've been safe to assume I was dead for a little while...My apologies. Here's a new chapter, (a much lighter one, hopefully). To be honest, I've had several brand new story ideas... but I'm reluctant to start them considering I already have a CRAZY line up to finish. So here we are:

CHAPTER 19:

Chuck's eyes felt heavy. Opening them was turning out to be harder then he'd imagined. He mustered up some newfound strength blinked hard, managing to open his eyes. The first thing he saw was a damn near blinding light. He shut his eyes again for a moment, blinking as he adjusted. And then he felt the warmth of the hand in his, the relieved gasp, the amazing smell assaulting his senses. Gazing up, he'd thought he'd died, because he was sure there was an angel sitting over him.
"Hey..." Sarah began, gracing him with a sweet, sweet smile. She looked worried, as Chuck immediately picked up on it.
"Sarah..." He couldn't help the relieved smile that rose to his face. "Oh god you're okay..."
Sarah couldn't help it; she let out a wry laugh. "Me? I'm okay?" she repeated. "I wasn't the one under fire, Chuck."
"But you're my girlfriend..."Chuck persisted sweetly. "I'll always worry about you first..." and then it hit him. "Jill!"He tried to sit up quickly and ended up huffing out loudly.
"Hey! Easy!" Sarah called gently, supporting him as he righted himself.
It was then that he fully became aware of his surroundings. He was in a white washed room- a hospital room. He was in a bed, and he could see patches where he was hurt. This was no ordinary hospital...this was Ellie's.
"Oh god..." Chuck breathed. "Jill..."
"Chuck..." Sarah glanced into his pools of chocolate brown. "Jill...she came after me, back at the apartment...She's dead, Chuck."
"Jill...dead..." Chuck sighed, rubbing his head. "This is...so much...Did you...you know,..."
"-Shaw." Sarah spared him the wait. "He saved me...us."
"And you brought me here...?" Chuck asked in awe.
"You'd lost a lot of blood...I wanted to be careful." Sarah replied, almost feeling the fear she'd felt when she'd found Chuck on the floor, nearly bleeding out.
"No...Thank you..." Chuck mustered a smile, relaxing when his lips found hers in a soft embrace.
"Always." Sarah replied gently.
Chuck cleared his throat slowly, not wanting to leave Sarah's embrace. "Ellie..."
"She handled this well." Sarah admitted. "Better than I did, anyway."
Chuck raised a brow. "That doesn't sound like-"
"Chuck!" Ellie watched the two through the the open doorframe, smiling. "You're up."
"Ah...I'd better go get some coffee." Sarah got up, to Chuck's dismay, awkwardly shifting out.
"No..." Ellie frowned. "We love having you, I-"
"I'll be quick." Sarah wanted to give them time, she'd have plenty with Chuck later.
Sarah left down the hallway as Devon brushed by her side. "Hey Devon..." Sarah smiled, looking into his blue eyes.
"Coffee break, huh?" Devon smiled. "Mind if I join ya?"
"Oh, not at all..." Sarah smiled, wondering what his motives could be.

"Chuck..." Ellie began, sitting in Sarah's now vacant seat. "When she brought you here...She was broken, Chuck. I knew you'd be an easy fix but...the blood...it shook her up, Chuck."
"She's tired..." Chuck agreed, feeling awful. "How long was I out for?"
"Just a day..." Ellie spoke gently, happy to see him well. "She was getting calls left and right, but she never once left your side."
Chuck's eyes shone with something Ellie couldn't quite believe. The two were head over heels in love.
"Calls..." Chuck began. "Who was calling her?"
"I tried to ask but...she said it was "classified" and that she didn't want to burden me...something about the team..."
"Oh god..." Chuck glanced up. "The team! I have to-"
"It's been taken care of." Ellie motioned down the hall. "In fact, we've got two very...interesting characters down the hall."
"Characters?" Chuck repeated, barely able to keep up. He felt like his mind was still numb from the drugs.
"Cute red head..." Ellie began, "and a gorgeous looking-"
"Bryce and Carina..." Chuck nodded. "Are they okay?"
"Yeah...wait, that's the Bryce you were complaining about?"
"Things were...different then." Chuck reassured her with a little smile.
"But wha-"
"Chuck." Ellie interrupted solemnly, wordlessly commanding all his attention. "Chuck."
Chuck found her eyes, ready to listen.
"I can't...We can't stand to lose you, Chuck."
"Lose me?" Chuck glanced at her incredulously. "I don't plan on going anywhere..."
"Chuck..." Ellie cut him off. "I know, but this..." she motioned to his wounds. "This business you're in...It's not woth it, Chuck."
Chuck bit his lip. If only Ellie knew just what he did.
"You're young...Life is just picking up for you..."
Chuck was beginning to shake his head but Ellie was having enough of it.
"You don't need to save the world, Chuck. My advice? Take Sarah..." Ellie's eyes were almost tearful. "Because she's definitely the one, Chuck..."
Chuck was watching his sister, his throat dry.
"Take her and get out now, while you can...I can't lose anyone else."
"El..." Chuck began, pulling her into a hug. "I'm not going anywhere, and neither is she..."
"I worry about you Chuck...just promise you'll give this some thought?"
"Okay...I promise."
"I love you Chuck."
"Love you too, El."

"Sarah... I know you and I haven't gotten a chance to speak much, but...I think we should."
Sarah nodded, having a seat across from Devon with her cup of coffee.
"Firstly...I just think you should know...I think you're a hero, Sarah."
Immediately, Sarah was blushing. Chuck and his family were...of a different standard of kindness.
"I just did what I had to." She offered up, rather lamely, in her opinion.
"But that's it- You didn't have to...you don't have to save the day...and yet you do..."
Sarah glanced up into his eyes. They really thought that highly of her?
"You didn't have to save Chuck..."
"I love him..." The words fell out of Sarah's mouth.
Devon was grinning ear to ear.
Sarah was about to back it up when she saw Devon speak.
"Awesome."
And then she felt the foolish burn that caused her to redden a little yet again. She'd passed his test.
"Listen..." Devon leaned in, still retaining that smile. "I don't know what it is that you and Chuck really do...I know it's incredible. But think about this...is what you're doing...is it worth your lives?"
Sarah was stunned at what he said, unable to formulate a proper response.
"Look...you found each other through this..." Devon reminded. "Maybe you should take what you've earned and...cash it in, so to speak. Play it safe."
He rose before Sarah could even digest what he'd said. "Just...think about it."

"Thank god we get to go home today..." Chuck smiled as he finished cleaning up. He and Sarah had both freshened up since their separate talks with the Bartowski/Woodcomb alliance and got together again.
"I know..." Sarah had a bit of mischief in her smile, and Chuck's heart nearly skipped a beat.
"Oh...I've been meaning to ask..." Chuck hated to change the subject, but had to.
"How's Casey... and Hannah?"
"They dialed in...they sounded tired, but they reported successfully." Sarah smiled at his thoughtfulness.
"They were together?" Chuck looked surprised. "They're not...-"
"No." Sarah shook her head. "Oh god, no. I think it was coincidence. "
"Oh..." Chuck nodded, curious about there wherabouts.
"Let's just...Check on Bryce and Carina...and then we can see your father...and then go home, I guess."
"Long way to go..." Sarah sighed, hand in hand with Chuck as they left the room.

Chuck and Sarah neared their room, walking hand in hand.
Suddenly, Chuck froze, Sarah catching on simultaneously.
" Did you hear that?" Sarah murmured.
"That...repetitive thudding?" Chuck nodded. "Uh...yeah."
"It's coming from their room..." Chuck breathed, as the two quickened their pace. They froze infront of Bryce and Carina's room. Sarah's eyesbrows rose and Chuck's jaw dropped.
"Just...Like...-" Carina and Bryce were in a passionate embrace against the wall, the two nearly entangled in each other.
"Funny." Sarah began sharply, causing thw two to jump. "You two don't look injured."
Carina smirked, seemingly strutting up to Chuck. "Well hey there, Chucky."
"I'm glad you're alright." He smiled genuinely.
"Me too." Carina smirked, pulling him into a hug. Bryce watched somewhat jealously as Sarah rolled her eyes.
Chuck glanced at Sarah unsurely, yelping when Carina's hand slipped to his ass.
"Okay!" He jumped back, watching as Sarah nearly growled.
"Glad you're alright Chuck." Bryce smiled as well.
"Well we were just checking in on you...but it appears you're busy." Sarah smirked.
"We are..." Carina smirked. "But...Walker, can I have a word?"
"Sure." Sarah nodded, watching as Carina pulled her aside. Chuck and Bryce continued to talk about their separate assault experiences.
"So the nerd's alright then?"
"Yes..." Sarah rolled her eyes, smiling all the while.
"Good..."
"Don't get any ideas..."
"No...I have my own boytoy now, Walker." Carina grinned. "Although I wouldn't turn my head the other way if I were you...especially now that i know the kid can take a bullet..."
"You and Bryce..." Sarah changed the subject. "You're a-"
"Don't you dare label it, Walker. We've got a good thing going here."
"Oh..." Sarah grinned, sarcasm just pouring out. "I'm sure."
"Shut up." Carina snapped, causing Sarah to laugh.
"Well...we're going to visit my dad first and then turn in..."
"Don't worry about it." Carina waived her off. "He already told all of us to report in tomorrow..."
"You think so?"
"You deserve the rest, Sarah. And Chuck too."
"Okay...Carina?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm really glad you're alright..." Sarah smiled.
"Who else would have your back?" Carina grinned as she embraced Sarah. "Take care, Walker. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Home sweet home." Sarah sighed as she dropped her bag, making her way in.
Chuck nodded, taking off his jacket. "I just feel lik- WHOAH!" Chuck was then pulled over by his tie.
"I've missed you Chuck." Sarah grinned in an almost predatory manner. She pulled him to her lips, as he felt his tie loosened, and his shirt then yanked off.
"Tell me about it." He mumbled against her lips, pulling her back up against him as the two collided with the wall.
The two were kissing heatedly as Chuck's hands found their way up her legs and eventually her thighs whe-
"Ow!" He pulled back, a perfectly sharpened knife in hand, straight from Sarah's thigh sheathe.
Chuck glanced up at her, the lust still in her eyes. Sarah lifted his hand, bringing it to her lips.
"Better?" She smirked, watching as Chuck nearly fainted.
