Poem tribute to Alexander the Great .

What were you, great King, thinking

lying feverish on your royal big bed?

Maybe that the stars were twinkling

or that the evening sky was too red…

Or maybe you were remembering

your childhood days in Pella spent,

Or how Aristotle in Mieza was teaching

you how wise kings were to behave…

Or maybe you were still mourning

the memory of the Theban lovers

who died next to their mates fighting

and proud of their roots like no others…

Or maybe you were deeply wishing

a stunning brunette by your bedside

who unfortunately parted worrying

about how his death you would survive…

No matter what you were thinking,

or that death was wandering around

Because great men like you are a blessing

and their immortality is what they leave us behind …
