"That is not what I am talking about, and you know it."

"Maura I am so hungry."

"Why is it that you think you are so hungry?"

"Because I missed breakfast because we got called to a crime scene at four o'clock in the morning," she points out.

"I saw you eating a doughnut an hour ago," Maura tells her.

"You were supposed to be down here in the morgue an hour ago."

"I came up to get some coffee. That's not a crime is it?"

"No, I suppose that it isn't."

A few weeks later Jane finds herself washing dishes in Maura's kitchen after one of her mother's dinners. She hears hysterical cackling coming from the living room. She dries the dishes, and then uses a paper towel to dry her hands. She heads into the living room, and finds Maura sitting on the floor with Jacey.

"What's so funny?" Jane questions.

"I have absolutely no idea. We were just sitting here reading a story, and she started laughing hysterically."

"What story are you reading?"

"Something about a little critter," Maura explains.

Jacey's grin turns into a full blown smile. Her smile morphs into a laugh. Maura holds the book up for her to see.

"That is her favorite one."

"Momma!" Jacey squeals wither her arms reaching straight up. Jane reaches down, and scoops her up off the floor. She takes a seat with her on the couch. Maura vacates her seat on the floor, and takes a seat next to them. Jacey wears pajamas with little hearts on them. She presses her head against Jane's chest, snuggling close.

"Jane you look exhausted," Maura comments noting the heavy dark circles under Jane's eyes.

"Where did my husband wander off to?"

"Didn't he go to get ice cream?"

"Yes," she nods, "I guess that he did."

"What are your plans for Jacey's birthday?"

"Nothing extravagant. We're just going to have a little get together. Cake, and ice cream. Nothing fancy, I don't want a big to do. I hope that her first birthday is significantly less eventful than her birth."

"I can't believe that she's almost a year old."

Jane runs her fingers through Jace's hair, and kisses the top of her head, "I know. In three weeks she'll be a year old."

The door opens, and Barry enters carrying a brown paper bag. He sets the bag on Maura's counter. Jane puts Jacey on the floor. She pulls a book out of the baby's diaper bag, and hands it to Jacey.

"Jacey this is a new book mommy got for you. Go hand it to daddy, and see if he'll read it to you."

The little girl takes the book, and toddles off to the kitchen. Barry is taking the container of ice cream out of the bag when Jacey makes her way to him.

"Da-da!" She squeals.

He grins from ear to ear, and reaches down to pick her up. He lifts her off the ground, and places her on the counter. She holds the book out to him.

"Do you want me to read this to you?"

She hands him the book.

"Just Me and My Little Brother. Hm, this must be a new one. I haven't seen it before. Did mommy get this for you?"

Jacey doesn't answer. He opens the cover of the book. He finds Jane's scrawl inside the cover of the book in permanent marker.

He reads the inscription aloud, "Jacey, you're going to be a great big sister. Love, mommy." He continues to read. He gets a couple pages in, and abruptly stops. He lifts Jacey off the counter, and puts her on his hip. He carries his daughter, and her book into the living room. He finds Jane, and Maura reading magazines, pretending to ignore him.

"Jane!"

She puts her magazine on the coffee table, and looks up at him, "Yeah?"

"When did you get this book?"

"Today, why?"

"Why did you get this book? I'm confused," he admits.

"Maybe you should turn to page seven," she suggests.

Jacey reaches for Jane. She leaps from Frost's arms. She hops from Jane over to Maura. She snuggles up with Maura as Frost turns the pages in the book. He finds a picture between the pages. He studies the picture carefully.

"When is this from?"

"Barry sometimes I question your detective skills," Maura tells him.

"Excuse me?"

"There is a date on it," Maura points out.

"How do you know?"

"I have had one done before," she reminds him, "and I already saw that picture."

He studies the print on the corner of the picture. He furrows his brow, "This is from today."

"I know," Jane admits.

"This is where you had to go this morning? I thought you said you were going to the dentist."

"I lied."

"I don't understand," he reveals as he scrutinizes the picture. He holds the picture out, and points to the image, "This is from today?"

Jacey looks up at him, and springs from Maura's lap to Jane's. She waves her index finger at the picture.

"Baby!"

"Yes, Jacey that's a baby," Jane grins, she looks the little girl in the eyes, "Do you remember what mommy said about that baby?"

She smiles, "My baby!"

The color begins to drain from Frost's face. "Wait, what?"

Jane vacates her seat on the couch. "You should have a seat."

He takes a seat on the couch next to Maura.

"What did I tell you?" Maura looks to Jane.

"I should have told him sooner."

"Jane?" He stares up at her with big dark eyes.

"We're having a baby."

"We already have a baby," he points out, "She's not even a year old yet."

"I know."

"Are you saying that you're pregnant?"

"Yes," she confirms.

"How long have you known?"

"That's not important."

"I can't believe this," he studies the picture in his hand, "We're having another baby?"

"At least you found out before the baby was born this time."

"You should have told me."

"I am telling you now."

"Why did you wait so long?"

"I wanted to wait until I found out what we're having."

"What do you mean?"

Jane points to the book in his hand. "Just Me and My Brother? Does that mean that we're having a boy?"
