This is ALL that I have written for this story, It is missing parts, but consider the end to be what I would have for the ending, the parts missing are in the middle.

It will remained UNFINISHED.

Chapter 5

Envy was laying upside down in her bed his arms hanging off the edge as he played with Hayate, the dog had grown accustomed to him and tended to jump on him every chance he could. Riza was once again reading one of her mystery novels, she tensed up at a moment and Envy raised his head to smirk at her.

"Too scary?" he asked, sounding amused, she lowered the book and rolled her eyes at him, snorting softly.

"No it just surprised me, something happened I didn't expect." she said shrugging and he sat up and raised an eyebrow at her in question.

"The main character just found out that their brother betrayed them," she said with a shrug hoping that would pacify his curiosity, she wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next. But instead he looked more interested.

"What'd he do?" he asked sounding almost fearful of the answer, Riza stared at him for a moment before looking down at the book.

"He...lied about the death of their parents," she said and then looked back up to the homunculus who had his lips pursed.

"Being lied to your whole life is...bad," he said, pursing his lips not feeling too happy with the word choice.

"I'd imagine it would hurt after you'd find out the truth," she said slowly and he nodded in kind, then he bit his bottom lip and then flopped down on his stomach, looking in her direction but not at her.

"I didn't really find the truth out...I just knew the whole time and didn't want to accept it." he muttered into his arms.

"I always knew they were using me, I just wanted to believe it was because they loved me," he said so quietly Riza had to strain her ears, she blinked when she finally got what he'd said.

"They would never say it...so eventually I stopped trying to fool myself and I asked, I expected honesty at the very least...but he laughed at me and said that could never happen, because of what I was. Because I'm bad." his voice faded to less than a whisper and his eyes looked troubled.

Riza set down her book and then laid down next to him on her own stomach, then she turned her head to the side to look at him.

"He was wrong," she said and he looked at her, his face showing how surprised he was, "You can have whatever you want, no matter what you are, because of how much you want it. I think you'll get it, because of how sincere you are. Anyone who wants to be loved, isn't bad. Not to me." she smiled at him reassuringly. His eyes scanned her face looking for something, and he must have found it because his cheeks went pink and he hid his face in his arms. She blinked and then smiled softly and then slowly pat the top of his head, it was the first time she'd touched him in this form. Then she sat back up and started reading again, looking up at him every so often. He was now looking off to the side and seemed to be thinking hard, but something in his face had lifted, he looked less troubled. She smiled happy to see that, it made her feel good knowing she'd helped him, perhaps they really were friends. She liked the feeling of having a close friend who would share secrets with her and who she could also do the same with, well maybe not just yet but someday.

She smiled to herself, it was nice to have a friend none the less, especially one like Envy he was so interesting.

Riza was a bit confused, from time to time she would catch herself staring at Envy, or when he wasn't around, thinking about him. The way he laughed, really laugh, not his maniacal cackle, or how he smiled when he didn't think she was looking, he would play with Hayate, and when she was 'distracted' he would pet the pup and even let him on his lap, he really was cute. She wondered if maybe there was something going on, and if there was, if she needed to call a doctor. Hopefully she wasn't sick.

But why would she be? She'd been learning about Envy, she knew he liked watching people, he was easily bored and because of how he was 'raised' he thought humans were lower life forms. He really wasn't that bad, he was more like a child than anything else, but he had his moments were he acted like an adult and when he did, Riza really enjoyed being with him. She just hoped nothing would change how things are, or if they did change, it was for the better.

Envy sighed and waited, he wrapped his arms around his legs and placed his chin on his knees, he didn't like waiting for her, he much preferred when he was with her to anything else. She was so nice to him and she listened to him and talked to him. No one had ever done that before. He really liked it, and she didn't judge him, he'd told her stuff, most of it unintentionally but it was kind of pointless to be bothered about that now. But she had listened and told him what she thought, he actually enjoyed hearing that, it somehow made him feel better.

His head lifted up as he heard the front door open and Black Hayate come in with a happy yip, he came into the living room where Envy sat, Envy put his hand down and Hayate shoved his muzzle into it, obviously looking for attention, he snorted and scratched the top of his head he gave a yip and then rolled onto his back and exposed his tummy, Envy rolled his eyes then started scratching it.

"Attention whore," he said and Hayate's hind foot started thumping on the floor, he snorted in laughter as Riza walked in the room taking off her uniform jacket.

"You're going to spoil him," she reprimanded gently, but she smiled it was always cute to see Envy curled up on the floor giving Hayate attention.

"Not my fault he has to come to me to get attention," he said and she chuckled and set her jacket on the back of a chair.

"He was getting plenty from Fury earlier, now you're just spoiling him," She said and Envy shrugged then picked Hayate up, put him in front of his face and held onto his paws, moving them as he talked.

"But he wants attention from mommy, Woof." he said and Riza laughed as Hayate's tongue lolled out of his mouth and Envy's voice came from behind the canine, it looked positively ridiculous.

"And he gets it, but he needs to know who is boss," she said taking the dog from Envy's hands and giving the dog a small scratch before putting him down and heading to the kitchen.

"Well that's pretty obvious, dogs are simple creatures, you feed them and they'll follow you forever," He said standing up and following her into the kitchen, she raised an eyebrow and looked back at him.

"And what have I been feeding you, hm?" she asked with a tiny playful smirk Envy made a face at her.

"Haha, you're so funny," he sneered without any real malice, she smiled and went to the cupboard grabbing a can of dog food for Hayate who was sitting on Envy's feet, who was leaning against the wall. He sighed at Hayate, the dog's tail wagged as if sensing his irritation, he bumped the dog with his toe and Hayate just wagged his tail faster.

"I'm so glad you think so," she replied and set the food on the ground, Hayate rushed from Envy's feet to the food.

"So how was work?" Envy asked, his eyelashes fluttering innocently, Riza's wine colored eyes rolled.

"As dull as you like to say it is," she said and he chuckled as she went to the fridge to get herself some food, she was sure she had some left over take out somewhere.

"Well I'm right then, a recurrence happening more and more, and yet you still don't believe me," he said and she shook her head while chuckling under her breath.

"That would be because half of the time your 'rightness' only applies to the certain types of people I am around, that's nor fair," she said and Envy scoffed.

"Who said life was fair?" he asked getting that tone in his voice that Riza told him made him sound like a jerk, and Riza gave him a look and he immediately snapped his mouth closed, "Right right," he grumbled then he watched her as she took out some food in a Tupperware container.

"How can you eat that...it smells nasty," he said making a face and she shrugged sticking a fork in it and putting whatever it was in her mouth.

"Could you get me a glass of water?" she asked, smiling sweetly at him, he made a face at her and grumbled but pushed himself from the wall and grabbed a glass and filled it with water. He set it down and then snagged a chair and flipped it around to sit on it backwards putting his arms on the backrest.

"You're so demanding, and the only reason I listen is cause you have a gun," he said pouting just slightly and Riza laughed and continued eating.

"I've got to have some way to control you," she said and he snorted then rolled his eyes, she laughed.

They talked about small things or things they'd talked of before until Riza sat on the couch with a tired sigh, Envy leaned over the back of it next to her.

"You look more exhausted than normal," he commented and she shrugged, her eyes closed, her lashes brushing against her cheeks. Envy turned away, why was he watching her eyelashes?

"Not really it's just an accumulation of exhaustion over the week," she replied, and Envy's eyes went to her lips as she spoke, they were pink and just slightly chapped, the corners of her mouth were turned down. She looked a bit sad, he didn't really like that.

"What's wrong?" he asked, in a tone of voice that told her she wasn't allowed to argue or deny it.

"It really isn't anything," she said and Envy's eyebrow quirked she sighed, "I just heard some other women talking about me," she said quietly, Envy frowned, women tended to talk a lot, sure they liked to gossip and as his experiences as a woman, they tended to gossip about other women.

"What did they say?" he asked and didn't realize that he'd sounded angry until she looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Nothing," she said and then sighed, "Many of them think I am too...hard to be capable of a relationship, or even a simple kiss," she said and Envy frowned, some women. Sheesh.

"And why is that? Because you're busy? Because you have more important things to do than think about silly relationships?" He replied and she shook her head.

"No, they're right, no man would want to be with me anyway, I'm too intimidating, I've been told so," she said, and that had been told to her by a man she'd gone on a date with. She looked over at Envy who had snorted.

"Well then that guy had no balls- wait was it that idiot from the play?" he asked and Riza nodded, "Yeah he had no balls. Besides that, I don't see any reason why you can't go have a relationship," He said with a shrug, and Riza sighed.

"There are plenty of reasons, I haven't found the right guy and most won't get close enough to me to give me a hand shake let alone a kiss," she said and Envy blinked, he was close to her a lot of the time, the more they talked the closer he had moved to her. In fact he was almost touching shoulders with her now.

"I think that's an excuse, maybe you don't think you can handle one, or you're waiting and glad no one has ever tried," he said and Riza turned and frowned at him and then frowned more at the look on his face, one that said there was nothing she could say that would defend herself, didn't mean she wasn't going to try.

"Yeah well what about you and-" she started but was cut off when Envy leaned forward quickly and put his lips to hers, cutting her off in a kiss.

She froze as she felt the lips on hers, she hadn't been kissed since before she'd joined the military, and it was so...soft. He wasn't pushing her which she felt grateful for, he was waiting for her to respond, which she did after a moments hesitation it was kept soft Envy didn't push forward he merely played with her lips until he pulled back and then smirked weakly.

"Hmm, I hate to say I told you so...buuut...I told you so." He said and then stood up, she gaped at him for a moment. He had just kissed her...and well...she kind of wanted him to do it again.

She frowned and looked up at Envy, he was looking away from her, his fingers were curling and uncurling as if he were nervous, and from the angle she was at she could see the edge of his cheeks, they looked pink.

"Envy," she said and he turned to her, his face still pink, but it was also guarded as well it should be, he had just kissed her, and also interrupted her.

"What?" he grunted, and she looked him over again then slowly reached her hand out and took his, she squeezed it and smiled.

"Thank you," she said and his face relaxed just slightly, he nodded and his hand twitched, maybe he had meant to squeeze hers back. Now that she looked at him, he was pretty good looking, and he knew her better than practically anyone. And she knew him more than anyone as well save for the fact they were enemies they would be very good together, pity that was unrealistic.

She sighed and let his hand go and stretched, it was pretty late and she was tired, she turned to wish Envy a good night but he was gone. She blinked, he'd run away, he'd never done that before. She just hoped he'd be back tomorrow.

Chapter 6

Riza sighed, it had been about three days since Envy had vanished, she wouldn't admit it, but she missed him. He really wasn't all that bad after getting to know him, and he wasn't as out of his mind as one originally thought. And he wasn't as mean as he said he was, he was actually very sweet. So in other words he was almost nothing like he portrayed in a first impression.

She wondered what it was he really wanted, what he was meant to do and where his meaning in life lay because she was sure it wasn't to be a slave to his so called Father.

Deep down she wanted him to find his meaning, but he wanted him to find it with her, she blushed at the thought and scoffed that was terribly selfish of her.

"Humans are selfish, that's what makes them human," Hadn't Envy said that? And time and time again he'd told her she was only human, she shouldn't try so hard to be something she wasn't.

"Then what am I?" she asked her self, she was herself but only when she was with him. She smiled a bit in irony, she would be human then, and stay with him.

She smiled a bit stupidly then went to bed and buried her face in her pillow, this whole friends with someone with an outside perspective thing was pretty helpful.

Envy watched as she slept, she looked so peaceful and so sweet, he could watch her all night, but he much preferred talking with her, but she was so tired he didn't want to wake her, instead his hand reached out tentatively and slowly his fingers moved across her face, moving a few strands of her blond hair. It was somewhat rough, she didn't spend hours in the shower like most women lathering her hair with products. She wasn't vain, and sure she wasn't the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, but she was still very pretty. And her eyes they were brown, but almost red, just almost, it was unique and he liked them, he'd even used them a few times when he transformed.

He sighed and ran his fingers through her hair then he lifted a lock and kissed it, he'd never really felt like this before, he felt like he needed to treat her like she was made of glass, however he knew she was strong. But every woman wanted someone to treat her with care, he knew because he wanted to be treated gently, and he wasn't exactly a woman, or a man, not to mention he once read a whole bunch of gossip magazines while waiting for a mark in a book store, he'd learned quite a bit about women. And he kind of wanted to try being soft. He'd had the rough wild sex and it had been fun at first, but now he wanted something more. But he didn't think Riza wanted him that way, which really sucked, because he liked her a lot.

He sighed again and then moved away his hand dropping to his side as he stood up and looked at her one more time, he really didn't want to sit and watch her go be with someone else, he knew it would hurt too much and he liked avoiding as much pain as possible. He turned around and was about to head to the window when his hand was caught by another. He looked down and followed the hand to the owner, Riza was looking at him, looking absolutely fetching with tired eyes.

"I didn't think you were going to come back," she said quietly, and he blinked at her, she squeezed his hand and then pulled him closer, and he was sure it was due to tiredness that made her do it.

"Why would that matter?" he asked sitting on the bed next to her, she frowned, though at what he wasn't quite sure.

"It matters to me, I was wondering," she said and he quirked an eyebrow, though she couldn't see it, "I don't want you just vanishing out of my life," she said and Envy blinked, was she saying... she'd miss him? He leaned over and looked at her.

"Why not?" he asked his face very close to hers now, Riza looked him in the eyes and faintly noticed they were still holding hands.

"I enjoy your company," she replied quietly, and his eyebrows furrowed just a bit, that was all?

"That's all?" he asked out loud, his voice barely a whisper and Riza's eyes watched his eyes watching her, they reflected the little light that was coming in through the window.

"No..." she said and he leaned closer, he was almost close enough to kiss her again and whether by her tired mind or not she was hoping he'd do it again.

"What else then?" he asked leaning closer and Riza couldn't breath, he was so close she could feel him, he wasn't warm like humans and he wasn't cold, he was room temperature, it was odd but she really didn't mind.

Envy was getting impatient for her to answer and was about to ask again when Riza frowned and then leaned up and pressed her lips to his. It took Envy less than a second to realize the small pressure on his lips was a kiss. He pressed back and her head rested back on the bed and let him take over. He pressed forward and moved so she would lay on her back fully, he turned and placed a hand by her head, the other was still in hers the fingers now entwined he had no idea when that happened, but he didn't care, she was gripping his hand and not letting go and that was all that mattered.

He moved his lips around hers gently, she didn't really seem to know what she was doing, it was cute really, though it was probably because she was tired. He started trailing his lips away from her mouth to her jawline and then down her neck. She was making small sounds, she wasn't used to this attention, but she didn't seem to be minding it. He made his way back up to her lips, resting a soft kiss on her lips before breaking apart and then looking down at her, she was flushed, blushing furiously and her eyes were avoiding his out of embarrassment. It was cute. He sat up slowly running a gentle finger over her cheek before he stood.

"It's late you should go back to sleep," he said, and she looked at him finally, he didn't look all that affected by what he'd just done, but if she looked closely she could see a telltale blush brushing his cheeks, she smiled and squeezed his hand before rolling over and drifting back to sleep, before she lost conscious she thought she felt a feather of a kiss brush her brow, she smiled again and felt his hand slip out of hers, then she was asleep.

When she woke up the next morning there was a note on her night stand that said 'Be back in a few days -E' the fact that he'd left a note surprised her, but also pleased her greatly. He was going to be gone for several days so that meant that he was probably on a mission for his Father and that worried her, she knew he wouldn't be hurt, but he might go back to the way he was, he was calmer now that he didn't seem to have the itch to kill, but she just hoped he would come back to her safe and sound.

She blinked, 'come back to her' she hadn't noticed she'd started thinking of him as hers, but then again, they had kissed and she really enjoyed it so it wasn't a surprise. But what about him? She didn't know how he saw her, she could hope he felt the same way.

She threw the blankets off of her and headed for the shower, she didn't know what went on in Envy's head. He thought in a very different way than she did, and she found that very intriguing. She took off her sleeping clothes and let them pile on the floor, she turned on the shower and stepped under the warm water with a sigh.

All she could do was wish for his safe return and then go about business as usual. R attempt to at least.

Roy knew Riza was distracted, why? He had a suspicion but couldn't be sure unless he asked and he really didn't want to. But she looked so worried, and her lips were chapped because she kept licking them. And her hands were clenching and unclenching around her pen, she would keep looking at the clock and she didn't even seem to notice when Havoc and Breda started having a paper wad war. She'd been like that for the past week.

"Lieutenant," he said through the door and she blinked a few times before looking up at him, "I'd like to speak with you for a moment," he said she nodded and stood, still unaware of Havoc and Breda's growing piles of crumpled paper at her feet.

"Sir?" she asked once the door was closed and Roy sighed and then gestured her to sit on the couch, she frowned but did so.

"Riza what's wrong?" he asked, once he was sitting on the couch across from her, and she blinked at him.

"Wrong, Sir? Nothing is wrong," she said still confused by the question and he gave her a look and leaned forward.

"Riza, Jean and Heymens have been throwing paper at each other for the last half hour and you haven't said a word, what's wrong?" he asked again and watched as she blinked in surprise.

"They what?" she almost gasped and stood up to stop that immediately but was forced back down by Roy.

"That's not the problem at the moment, I want to know what has you so distracted," then he sighed, "Well I figure I know what has you distracted but I don't know why," he said and she frowned.

"I'm fine Sir, just...just," she sighed and he raised an eyebrow in wonder, she looked to the side and blushed faintly, Roy's eyes widened, was Riza Hawkeye really blushing?

"Riza?" he asked looking concerned and Riza seemed to steel herself up before looking back up at the man.

"I'm just worried about Envy, nothing more," she said and Roy rolled his eyes.

"You're worried about a thing that can't die?" he snorted and Riza's eyes narrowed at him turning into a flat glare.

"I have every right to worry for the ones I care for, and you Roy Mustang have no right in saying otherwise," she said defensively, she didn't like the way Roy thought of Envy, he had no right when he didn't even know him.

"I'm not refuting that, but Riza, it's not even human, you don't need to worry about it!" he said, trying to get her to understand.

"Because he's not human means he doesn't deserve to be treated with care?" she asked and Roy nodded, thinking just maybe she was beginning to get it, but she glared at him furiously.

"I can't believe you," she hissed, "I can't believe you would stoop so low, is he undeserving of care and happiness because he is different from you? Do you hold Hayate in the same contempt? He's a dog therefore doesn't deserve love or food?" she snapped at him, getting to her feet.

"Is everything that you dislike beneath you Mustang? You don't approve of something therefore it's not good enough?" she huffed and continued to glare.

"Riza," he started but she cut him off with a single step towards him.

"No Roy, I will not talk to you about this matter again until you get your priorities straightened out, good day Sir," she said and did a one-eighty and went out the door, clicking it closed behind her.

"Damn," was all the man could say, wide eyed and a little in shock. He knew that the homunculus was not a good influence on his lieutenant but had no idea how to keep them apart, he just hoped the woman would come to her senses, and soon.

Riza tried not to huff as she exited that irritating man's office, she did care for him, of course she did, how could she not after all they'd been though? But still he could be a right pain in the neck, and she wished he would trust her judgment but she knew he was too self-righteous and stubborn to see things her way.

The moment she shot Breda and Havoc glares they ceased their paper war and immediately got back to their paperwork but she crossed her arms and then tapped her foot twice and they were both up and cleaning up the mess.

She sighed and sat down, the day was almost done, she just needed to get home and have a nice bath.

Unfortunately this idea was interrupted by a private rushing into the room and handing her a message that was for the Colonel. She stood and sighed, what a way to ruin her dramatic exit, she entered the room and walked over to him he was looking at her, was that expectantly? Oh she should shoot him right then and there, but instead she handed him the note.

"Sir," she said and he frowned but opened it up and read it over then his eyebrows furrowed and he read it over again.

"Assemble the men, we have a mission," he said and Riza's eyes widened in surprise, they were going out in the field?

"Sir?" she asked and Roy sighed then steeped his fingers together, he nodded at her then gestured for her to get the others before he explained. He started after all of the men had filed into his office.

"We have been given the task of flushing out a potential terrorist attack in the sewers," he started and then Havoc groaned.

"Did you have to say flushed Sir?" he whined and Roy smirked just a bit before continuing on.

"We have seven hours to get there and get them before they make their move, I expect everyone to be ready and present in two for the debrief, we move at 22:00, Dismissed!" he ordered and the others saluted before scrambling to get out of the door first.

"Sir, why did it come in a note and not in a formal report?" she asked and Roy sighed, and tore up the note before lighting it aflame.

"It is an anti-military group comprised of former officers and several lower rank soldiers, the higher ups don't want it to be on official record so it has no base if reported to the public, bad PR and all that," he sighed tiredly.

"Isn't there an Ops group that would be better suited to the job?" she asked and Roy snorted, and shook his head.

"Oh I'm sure there is but the fuhrer only uses them when he feels it's necessary, so whenever he feels threatened personally," he laughed and Riza frowned.

"I wonder if there really is or not and if it's actually Envy who takes care of those things," she wondered out loud, and Roy frowned.

"Well that should give you even less reason to trust him," he said and she shot him a look, she saluted and then left, Roy had to stop himself from pouting, now she was just being difficult.

"Tch, women," he huffed then started getting ready himself, he grabbed his gloves and then went out to meet the others.

"Our mission is to find the terrorist hiding in the tunnels under the warehouses, it would appear they have been using them to steal from the military and sell things to rag-tag extremist groups around the country," Roy informed the other members of his unit, the only two who would actually be going in with him would be Riza and Havoc along with a group of other battle trained men, his other men had other responsibilities to take care of.

"You are to shoot first and ask questions latter, leave the leader to me," he said and the men all saluted he nodded, "Move out!" he ordered and all of the men got into the transportation vehicles that Falman had gotten.

"Breda are there any entry points that should be advised against?" he asked and the plump man shook his head.

"From what this says they only use these two entrances it's possible they are unaware of the others," he said and Roy nodded, he would take advantage of that, he nodded and then looked to Fury.

"Keep me informed," he said and the young man nodded and saluted.

"Yes, Sir!" he said and Roy nodded in acknowledgment of the salute before getting on one of the transports and signaling for them to move.

It wasn't a very long drive since the warehouses were in the manufacturing part of the city, the men got out and Roy ordered them to their posts and who would be going in.

Riza had her two pistols and a rifle and with a lot of ammo, she would be fine, but she was wondering if things that the military took care of, were actually cause by the homunculi.

"Riza?" Havoc asked and she looked up at him surprised, they were at the entrance and she blinked, how did that happen.

"Are you okay?" the blond man asked and she shook her head to clear it before giving him a curt nod.

"Yes, of course, let's go in," she said and Havoc nodded but was planning on watching her back a little more than usual.

The tunnels were mostly clear but there were many of them so they had to split up, Riza went straight and Havoc went left.

She bit her bottom lip in wonder, did Envy start these things, did he give them the information they needed? He had told her he was the instigator and manipulator. But she saw no reason for him starting this, didn't terrorists just cause trouble for the military?

As she wondered this she didn't see the wire that was strung a few inches above the floor and tripped, she didn't fall very hard but lost the gun in her hands in the process. Then someone laughed, she looked up to see one of the rogue military members.

"And you're supposed to be a lieutenant, how pathetic, some military officer you are," the man scoffed stepping out from a corner, a pistol held in his hand, pointed straight at her.

"Oh I know you, you're that sniper, Hawkeye isn't it?" he chuckled and waved his pistol around dangerously.

Riza simply glared at the man, she had two more guns on her, but she couldn't reach for them without him noticing.

"Well this is a treat, I get to be the one to take you out, you're famous you know, almost as famous as the Hero of Ishval. This is going to make me famous, aren't you lucky?" he chuckled and then pulled back the hammer and smiled.

"It was nice meeting you, Lieut-" he was interrupted by a click and then a bang, the man was on the ground in seconds, blood sprouting from the gunshot wound in his head, he was still smiling, he didn't even know he was dead.

"Do you make it a habit of dropping your guns while out on a mission, Lieutenant?" Riza looked up and watched a figure move into her line of sight, her eyes moved up the black toeless socked feet to the skort and bare stomach, to the black sleeveless top to the smirking face. She had never been more relieve to see him. He crouched down in front of her, his elbows on his legs, the gun dangling in his hand.

"Envy," she breathed and then sighed, pushing herself up, "What are you doing here?" she asked, and he shrugged.

"Taking out the informant," he said nonchalantly, he didn't say which informant he was taking out.

"What had you so distracted?" he asked cocking his head to the side, gazing at her with dark red eyes, she went pink.

"Oh, nothing important, it was trivial, stupid of me to be so unprofessional," she muttered as she stood, Envy handed back her gun and she took it with a small thank you.

"I see," he said blinking at her, his eyes boring into her something burning behind them, she wasn't sure what but it was intriguing.

"Well can't let that happen again," he said and stretched, "Don't get lost," he said and grabbed her hand with a laugh.

"I wouldn't get lost," she said a bit petulantly, and he smirked, then started pulling her along the long corridor, a bit faster than she would have liked to go.

"I can't hear if someone is sneaking up on me if my own feet are too loud," she said and he snorted and looked back at her.

"You really think I can't hear over that?" he gave her a look before rolling his eyes, she frowned.

"Are you saying I'm loud?" she asked pouting, and he smirked at her devilishly, his eyes flashing.

"Not quite," he said and she blinked at him for a moment before she realized he was calling her heavy footed, or in discreet terms, fat. She gaped at him before she yanked on his arm so he'd stop and turn around and then stomped on his foot.

"Hmph!" she said and started marching away, he hoped up and down a few times in pain before he ran up to catch her.

"Aww, come on I wasn't serious, you know you're not fat," he said and grabbed her around the waist she gasped in shock, he was being awfully forward.

"Well, except one part," he purred in her ear and then his hands wandered up her stomach and then quite obviously cupped her breasts.

A muffled shriek of surprise echoed through the hall, she grabbed his hands and yanked them off of her person before getting out of his arms length.

"What's wrong with you?" she gaped at him and he shrugged, smirking. There was a glint in his eyes she'd never seen before, it made her worried.

"What makes you think anything is wrong?" he asked back, his eyes were roving over her, like a predator and it's prey.

"You're making me uncomfortable," she said firmly, she knew if she sounded weak or scared, he would probably take advantage of that.

"And how am I doing that?" he asked, obviously admitting that had been a mistake, he was walking towards her now, stalking her as she took a step back before she stood her ground.

"You're not acting like you usually do," she said, "You're acting like a creep," she said and he frowned, his eyes narrowed, she got the impression he didn't like being called a creep.

"I'm acting like I should," he said, "This is what I am," his eye glinting faintly black in the dim light.

"Not it's not, I know what you are, who you are and this is not it," she said glaring at him, then she pulled up her gun and aimed it at him, "I'm not going to put up with this," she said and he smiled and then she found herself against the wall, pinned, her gun dropped to the floor for the second time that day. She hadn't even seen him move.

"That's why I like you, you're so stubborn," he said quietly his face inches from hers, she refused to let herself feel scared and instead glared at him.

"Envy let go of me," she demanded, "I won't take this from you, I'm friends with you, but I won't let you push me around," she said and he snorted, but he released her.

"You're no fun," he said and then turned around and walked away without another word.

She watched him until he disappeared, blending into the darkness, she bent down and retrieved her gun. She frowned and bit her lip, that look in his eyes, she remembered vaguely seeing it before, it took her a moment to recall, but when she did it sickened her a bit, she'd seen it on the face of the Crimson Alchemist in Ishval, blood lust. The desire to see death and destruction, pain and suffering, to be the one who causes it.

She knew, she'd always known that's what Envy had been like, she'd just tried to blind herself to it, Roy was right. But...

He hadn't hurt her, even in a state like that, that meant something didn't it? She closed her eyes and wished hard, that it did.

She didn't see Envy for several more days and when she did she was a bit surprised, he was sitting on the floor in her living room, playing tug of war with Hayate with an old pair of socks tied together, not looking very enthusiastic about it, he didn't look up at her when she entered not until she was in front of him, she bent down and picked up the dog who wagged his tail and licked her face in greeting.

"Hello," she said a bit cautiously, he glanced up at her for a moment and then looked back down, if she wasn't mistaken, he looked almost ashamed.

"Hey," he said quietly, biting his lip then he looked up at her, "I didn't mean it," he said and she blinked at him in confusion before she realized he was trying to apologize.

"As...as long as you don't do it again," she said and he looked back down bobbing his head once.

"I won't," he promised quietly, poking at the sock, looking a lot like a child in time out, she shook her head, she knew she was in for it when she thought he looked cute.

She sighed and set Hayate down and then grabbed his hand, "Come on, help me find some food," she said and he looked up at her his eyes searching her face before nodding. He stood up and went along with her, staring at their joined hands for a moment until she let go once they were in the kitchen.

"Let's see," she said opening up a cupboard and frowning at it's contents, when had she bought instant curry? She didn't even like curry.

"You really suck at this," Envy said quietly, looking in another cupboard his face incredulous, he shook it and closed it before opening another.

"What's that supposed to mean?" she asked raising an eyebrow and he pulled out a box, and gave her a look.

"Instant Instant Coffee? Come on, I may not eat but even I know there's something wrong with that," he said and her cheeks went pink.

"Okay so I shop late at night, I don't always know what I'm getting," she said pouting slightly, and he shook his head again.

"Yeah, I don't think you're allowed to go shopping any more," he said he pulled out a box of instant pancake powder and set it on the counter, "I'll go get you some real food later." he said and she huffed a bit.

"I can shop just fine," she said and he nodded and started looking through some other cupboards.

"Uh-huh, where do you keep the bowls?" he asked, sounding like he hadn't even heard her, she glared at him and he looked at her grinning before going back to his search. "Oh found them," he pulled one out and set it on the counter and then looked back at the box, frowning at it not quite sure what to do next. Riza chuckled quietly and gently tugged the box from his hands.

"Here, let me," and then she had no idea how it happened, half of the powder was in the bowl and the other half was on Envy.

"Yeah...I don't think you're even allowed around food any more," he told her, "Unless you're eating it," he said with a huff, a white cloud of pancake mix puffed from his mouth. Riza stared at him, his face and top were all white and she was hard pressed not to break out into giggles, she was clutching the box still. He shook his head and took it back before giving her a look.

"Go take a shower before you end up covering me in something else," he said and she went pink, but was still trying not to giggle, she nodded giving up for the moment, she went off to take a shower and get dressed in more comfortable clothes, as well as regain her composure. By the time she came back to the kitchen there were some haphazard pancakes on the table and a glass of what looked like juice. Envy was no longer covered in powder and was sitting at the table across from her seat reading what looked like a cookbook.

"It looks great," she said as she sat down he looked up at her and watched her take a bite satisfied she had swallowed it. "Where'd you find that?" she asked, she didn't think she had any cookbooks. He shrugged and she narrowed her eyes at him, he looked up at her, trying to look innocent and gave up when she pursed her lips at him.

"I'll put it back," he relented and she nodded.

"You'd better," she said and then shook her head, then blinked why did he have it in the first place? "Why do you have it?" she asked frowning and he smirked.

"You're not allowed to make food for yourself anymore," he said firmly and then raised an eyebrow at her when she started to retaliate, she frowned.

"We'll see," she said finally, not going to go down without a fight, though he smirked, believing he'd won the fight already.

Envy started making all of Riza's meals, he even made her lunches to take to work, he was starting to get cooking crazy, it was something he really enjoyed doing, Riza didn't mind. If he liked cooking he probably wouldn't go out killing people any time soon. He was also really good at it, he'd gotten some cookbooks, legally, and made some really good dishes, Riza feared she was gaining weight. Envy would roll his eyes and tell her to shut up and eat and then slip some meat to Hayate, who was also gaining weight. Riza started doing more physical activities to keep in shape, she had to do normal military calisthenics once a month naturally, but she wanted to be able to keep up her perfect record, she couldn't do that if she was getting fat!

But of course Envy didn't really care, he still looked at her, she would catch him at it, and then end up pulling him down for a kiss. It took him a long while to get used to it, he would blush and pull away and mumble about food. She would grin, he was so cute. Once he got more used to it he got more into it, at first. He would kiss her back with vigor, moving his mouth roughly over hers, trying to get her to moan. But after a while he started pulling away again, and wouldn't meet her eyes when he gave an excuse. She wondered if he was embarrassed or...if he was having second thoughts. No he couldn't have, if he was he would just up and leave, she knew that much, he wasn't the kind to stick around for others feelings, unfortunately. But he was here and he would still kiss her, but it took some prompting, and kissing was all they ever did. Riza was starting to get frustrated, she tried to let him know, but he either was ignoring her, or didn't notice.

They continued their life though, and that was something, Envy made her food, she went to work they would spend time later in the day, go see plays when they could, for the most time they were together. Sometimes Envy would be gone, but would leave a note promising he would be back soon. He would return after some time and then they would go back to the routine. It wasn't totally normal, but it was comforting, Riza enjoyed being 'in a relationship' it may have been unorthodox, but it was what it was, and that was what mattered.

Riza wondered what Envy thought about when he was alone, or when he had free time. She watched him as he looked at the food, he looked pensive, she traced the tip of her coffee mug with a finger as she watched him, he must have felt the eyes on him because he turned to her.

"What?" he asked his eyebrow raised and she shook her head smiling slightly he cocked his head to the side and gazed at her for a moment before shaking his head and then going back to what he'd been doing.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked once he was suitably distracted again and he took the food off the burner and placed it on a plate.

"Nothing much, why?" he asked and she pouted just a bit to herself, if it had been anyone else they would have said exactly what they were thinking, it didn't seem to work on Envy. He seemed to notice that she didn't like the fact she couldn't trick him and smirked, he set the food down in front of her.

"You can't manipulate the master manipulator, babe," he told her devilishly, laughter in his voice before pressing his lips to hers roughly.

She was rather surprised since he never seemed willing to be the one to start the kiss, but was very pleased, however she wasn't so much when he cut it short. She frowned at him but picked up her fork and started eating slowly, he sat down across from her and picked up one of his many new cookbooks, she was about half way through her meal when she spoke again.

"Why do you do that?" she asked and he looked up at her, she couldn't stop the small twitch of her lips, when he was caught off guard and not smirking, when he looked vulnerable, he was actually very cute, she honestly wished she could see him sleep just once, she knew it'd be a sight to remember.

"Do what?" he asked, looking at her curiously. She set her fork down and tapped the table in a brief moment of thought.

"You almost never kiss me, but when you do it's never for very long," she said and he frowned before he bit his bottom lip.

"That...bothers you?" he asked a bit hesitantly and she snorted at him and rolled her eyes.

"Of course it bothers me, if it didn't do you think I'd be bringing it up?" she scoffed and he frowned before looking down at the table top.

He stared at the table for a little while biting his lip and Riza wondered if maybe she'd hurt his feelings, when he looked back up.

"Why do you want me to kiss you?" he asked, and she blinked at him, that had been a strange question, but then again who she was talking to was all about strange.

"Because I like it," she said, "Why does that matter?" she asked and Envy scoffed and rolled his eyes at her.

"Humans, it doesn't matter," he muttered, then snorted and crossed his arms, Riza frowned, and then remembered something, when she touched him he would always tense up just slightly, not in a way that made her think he didn't like it but now that she thought about it, she wondered if maybe it was because he liked it very much. Too much?

Why was he so reluctant to indulge?

She narrowed her eyes at him and then stood up, he watched her from the corner of his eye and looked up at her when she was standing next to him. Their was a spark in her eyes that made his own widen but then she was bending down and her mouth took his in a fierce kiss. One hand went to the back of his neck pulling his head close for firm contact and the other touched his shoulder. Then in the time it took her to breath she was sitting on his lap straddling him while her tongue and his own had a battle between their joined lips. She moved her body forward creating a good amount of friction between them and Envy went rigid, his mouth broke away from hers and it looked like he was going to try and push her away so instead she brought her lips to his jaw and neck, trailing her lips over his pale flesh, her hands went down to his chest, her fingers spreading over the black material of his top before sliding back up to wrap her arms around his neck so she could pull herself even closer.

"R-Riza!" he called out a bit panicked and pushed her away, she looked at him and frowned, he looked like he was trying very hard to not give into his lust, which she had felt and knew he had a lot of.

"What?" she asked slightly irritated, it had been four months. If this had been a relationship between herself and another human that would have been a ridiculously long amount of time to go without having sex, especially as an adult who knew what she wanted.

"What the hell are you doing?" he asked trying to get her off of his lap, but too aware to really push her.

"I thought that was fairly obvious," she said a bit coldly and then she stood and turned around, "I'm sorry I must have misunderstood something, I won't do it again," she said and Envy frowned at her, she'd never spoken to him like that before.

"W-what did I do..?" he asked and she glared at him and shrugged then sat down at the table and started eating again, faster and with enough force it was clear she was doing it to get finished so she could get away.

"I won't know unless you tell me," he said sounding just a touch desperate, she looked up at him and she could see he was very troubled and she couldn't imagine how he didn't get the message.

"Do you want me?" she asked flat out and he stared, his mouth gaping just a bit, but she saw his eyes move over her taking her in, even if she was wearing sweat pants and a loose shirt, his eyes gleamed just slightly as he did so telling her, he definitely did.

"Why is that so important?" he asked sounding very lost and she remembered, Envy wasn't normal, by any means, sure he'd had sex and from what she could tell, he'd had sex with only two people, both of which he was related to. So that meant he knew nothing of how things in the real world with real relationships worked. She felt a little guilty for pushing him, but she was confused, and frustrated and maybe a bit lonely. She just wanted them to be whole.

"That first time...why? Why did you kiss me?" she asked and Envy looked at her, she was waiting for an answer and he knew nothing but sincerity would suffice.

"I...I wanted to..." he answered, "I wanted to prove to you that you were wrong about that, I didn't want you to be so sad about something so small," he said and Riza gazed at him, she knew he cared for her, it was fairly obvious if someone were to look, he made her food so she didn't kill herself slowly on instant and empty calories, she looked at him for a moment.

"Humans tend to make big deals out of small things," she said, "Something as simple as a kiss tends to be one of the biggest deals humans make drama out of," she said and he looked up at her with a frown.

"Why?" he asked and she smiled softly, and then shook her head.

"Humans are strange creatures, we blow things out of proportions and we want things and don't get them, we tend to get upset about it," she said and he looked at her, she was explaining why she'd been cold earlier so that was helpful but he frowned still.

"I don't want to hurt you," he said quietly and she shook her head, she knew by his tone of voice he didn't mean just physically.

"How could you do that?" she asked and he shook his head, she watched his face, he looked so unsure she was close to dropping it. But she didn't want it to cause them more problems, she wanted to see how far they could go with each other, take risks and be there for each other. They had to talk otherwise the problems would stack up and it would drive them apart, something she didn't want to happen.

"I don't know how to treat you, I don't want to do anything wrong," he said making a face, one that told her it had been very hard for him to say that. She smiled and took his hand over the table, holding it tight.

"Hearing you say that makes me very happy," she said and he smiled slightly, "But you can't just keep thinking that, I want to be with you, and the only way you'll know how to do things is by making mistakes." he made a face like he'd had to eat a lemon, she couldn't help but laugh at the face and then stand up and wrap her arms around him. He exhaled before wrapping his own around her, his face was right at her chest level and he smirked up at her just slightly, she rolled her eyes.

"Don't get any smart ideas," she said and he laughed lightly as he pulled her down on his lap, she smiled and held him resting her head on his shoulder.

His hand ran over her side gently as he held her, he couldn't really believe this, did she really want him this bad, as bad as he wanted her? He'd wanted to touch her and make her moan since before he'd kissed her for the first time, but he wouldn't admit it to himself, he wouldn't even let himself think about it, kissing her had been impulsive and irrational, but now he was holding her. He still didn't think he could do what she asked, he was too used to being rough, fast and hard, Greed had always been rough and usually liked to cause pain, he'd wanted Envy to make more noise, he'd needed more moans, more gasps, more screams. More. And then Lust had always wanted the passion, the pleasure, that fierce gaze in her eyes had told him she'd wanted to get as much 'lust' out of him as possible. Envy was too much in need of the contact to ask for things he wanted.

Riza took down her hair with a sigh, she ran her fingers through it a few times then noticed how hard Envy was thinking and wanted to wipe that pain filled look off of his face, she placed her hand on his cheek and turned his face towards her own, she kissed him gently and then smiled.

"All you need to do is ask and I'll give you what you want," she said and then watched as his eyes widened and then looked over her face, as if trying to see something but instead he shook his head and then smirked a bit half heartedly.

"W-what made you say that...?" he asked quietly, and she smiled at him her hand came up to brush his cheek gently.

"It looked like that's what you needed to hear, so that's what I gave you, I'll give you anything you want," she promised.

"Careful, making promises like that is dangerous, I want a lot," he said quietly and she laughed, but was cut off by his lips, she moaned into the feel of his relaxed kiss, he wasn't tense for once, it felt so much better than any other kiss they'd shared, she wrapped her arms around his neck and returned the kiss. His arms wrapped around her waist and he tilted his head and kissed her more fervently.

He wanted this, he wanted this so bad he felt like he'd wake up from an unconsciousness he had no idea he'd fallen into. She actually wanted him too, it was like nothing he'd ever imagined, someone wanted him. He'd spent all his life wishing for things everyone else had, Pride had Father's affections, Lust had beauty, Greed had ambition to get what he wanted. What did he have? He had a burn, a persistent painful burn, his whole being wanted to be another, anyone but who he was. That man on the street who would smile at the sight of the sun, that woman with her children who were terrors but would run up to her and hug her and bring the brightest smile to her face. The lovers who held each other close, whispering sweet nothings in the other's ear. He wanted that, he wanted all of that, he wanted to be happy, more than anything he wanted to be loved and given the chance to love in return.

He finally had that chance, he didn't want to screw up. But he couldn't leave it hanging like he had been he had to take it before it was gone.

He pushed her away and she glared down at him, she had been thoroughly enjoying their impromptu kissing session, but he grinned up at her.

"I don't think a chair is a suitable place for what I have planned next," he said, that smirk of his firmly in place and she blinked at him before her face went pink and she smirked back.

"About time," she muttered and he looked at her amused but a touch scandalized, but then he shook his head and stood up bringing her with, he carried her to the bedroom and then dropped her on the bed then turned and put a hand on his hip.

"Hayate, out," he snapped and the dog whined, he pointed to the door and the dog put his tail between his legs and went out the door sadly, he snapped the door closed behind him.

"Animals," he snorted then turned around to see Riza with a hand over her mouth and shaking in suppressed laughter.

He gave the woman a blank look then crossed his arms, looked away and huffed a bit petulantly.

"Then again-" he started but she grabbed his hand and pulled him on top of herself, she captured his mouth and didn't give him a chance to finish.

"No more talking for at least an hour," she said and his eyes widened, that had made him forget anything and everything he'd been about to say or think and instead took her mouth again, she moaned in joy and a bit in relief, she'd thought for a moment he was going to back out, but the feel of his hands on her stomach as he pushed up her shirt let her know otherwise.

His lips trailed down her jawline and to her neck while his hands took off her shirt, he moved to also take off her pants so he didn't have to do it later, all she had on now was her underwear, then he sat up and smirked down at her. Her skin was by no means flawless, she had scars, she was a soldier after all and her hands had calluses from holding a gun, she wasn't perfect, but that was why she was better than perfect.

She looked up to see his rather pleased expression and couldn't help but flush, but then she tugged at his top. "You too," she demanded and he smirked.

"I'll get there," and then he bent down and took her lips again, his hands rubbed over her body and she made small noises at the feel of his hands exploring every inch of her, pale palms went up her arms and brushed her shoulders playing with her hair on the way down to the valley of her chest and then stomach, they brushed her thighs and calves before coming back up and resting on her stomach as he kissed his way over her skin along the same path.

"O-oh!" She gasped and he felt that was encouragement enough to continue his ministrations, his hands sliding up her stomach to her breasts, he massaged them gently and her hands came to his chest as she gasped and moaned, her fingers dug into the material, she wanted to touch him and feel him too, he sat up for a moment so he could transform out of his clothes. Then he was back down his lips on hers as his hands rubbed her breasts, his thumbs and forefingers coming up to pinch her nipples gently.

"Ah!" she cried into his mouth and gripped his shoulders before sliding them down his chest, and then wrapping her arms around his back.

"Envy," she breathed and he shivered, he'd never heard his name sound like that before, needed and passionately, he liked it, he liked it a lot. He placed his lips over hers and then slipped his tongue inside she tried to kiss him back but she was still to engrossed with the pleasure his hands were bringing her, she turned her head to the side.

"Envy please..." she whispered and he shivered again, he took off her underwear in one quick tug then he pressed his lips to hers, then felt her hands tense on his for a moment and then relax, he slowly slid into her, controlling himself he wasn't going to hurt her. Her legs came up and her ankles locked behind his back, and she kissed his neck. He had to breath for a moment before he could move, he pulled out before pushing back in and she moaned quietly, he wanted to hear her say his name again, that's what he wanted.

He pulled out again before thrusting back in, starting a slow pace, one hand was by her head threading through her hair, the other was resting on her chest rubbing it gently while his lips kissed her neck gently. He started a slow at first but her gasps and moans increased as he increased his thrusts, he changed his angle and she cried out.

"Envy!" she called and he moaned against her skin, he felt warmth, her warmth spreading through his body as he sped up hitting her in the same place that made her cry out again and again, calling his name each time, he moaned hearing it and feeling her hands gripping his shoulders tightly. His sped up more and she started shaking in anticipation and he felt her trying to dig her nails into his skin, she threw her head back and lost it, crying his name to the stars, he followed moments after crying out softly before taking in a deep breath and removing himself from her and wondered what happened next, normally after doing this Lust or Greed they would either want to go several more times or they would just up and leave. He was debating what to do when Riza's arms pulled him down next to her and she placed her head on his shoulder, he blinked. She wanted to cuddle. He smiled slightly and wrapped an arm around her waist with the other played with her hair as she smiled at him, kissing him gently before falling sound asleep.

Things were good, they finally felt like he wanted them too, he just had no idea how long this dream would last, he pulled her closer and kissed her hair, he didn't want it to end. With all of his heart he wanted to stay with her for as long as possible.

Envy was so happy, he couldn't help himself, he was overjoyed, he had exactly what he wanted, he had a reason to live, to stand up and keep going, he had what humans had that had been what used to infuriate him.

And his was positively beautiful, and she was kind and she would smile at him and he couldn't help but smile back.

He really enjoyed being with her, but he noticed it was getting harder and harder to go back to Father after being with Riza, she was so much more than Father and he enjoyed it.

But, how could he find a reason to stay with her? He wanted to be with her always...but... He was immortal and she was a human, eventually she would die and he would still be in this world. That was a problem, as well as...well...Father.

He sighed, this was troublesome, if he so much as moved a finger against Father he would be destroyed. He needed to find another way.

So, he looked, he was going to be with Riza. No matter what it took, he was going to be with Riza.

But...how?

Envy

He bit his lip, he'd made up his mind, he knew what he wanted, he was going to stay with her, no matter what it meant. He was going to turn himself human, but he didn't know how, he couldn't very well just yank his stone out and declare his humanity. He felt his only way out of this life, was through alchemy.

He sighed, he couldn't perform alchemy and he had a feeling Riza wasn't well versed in it, and that she probably didn't want to risk it. He closed his eyes, who knew wanting to be with someone, which was so simple, would end up being so complicated.

He looked up at the sky which was threatening to rain, he needed someone who was well versed in human transmutation, because that was essentially what he needed. But who?

He looked back down, and spotted someone in red amongst the blue, he raised an eyebrow and then the other joined it. The shrimp. Of course, why hadn't he thought of him first? He leapt from the building and landed lightly on his feet, he followed the boy and waited until he was in front of his hotel room, fumbling with his keys.

"Pipsqueak," he said quietly and the boy jumped, dropping his keys, he whipped around and took on a fighting stance.

"Envy!" he nearly gasped, "What do you want?" he demanded and Envy held his hands up, trying not to smirk at him, he had in fact enjoyed that reaction, but he was here on business.

"I want...I need to ask you something," he said, his voice still quiet, and Ed's eyes narrowed, not dropping his stance.

"And what would that be?" he asked, sounding defensive, Envy sighed and bent down, picking up the fallen keys and held them out to Ed.

"I don't think in the middle of the hallway is a good place to talk about it," he said, still holding the keys out, Ed stared at him, debating whether to take them or not. "I didn't poison them," he said sarcastically, and Ed taking that as a challenge grabbed them.

"Fine, but I swear..." he started and Envy rolled his eyes and snatched the keys back and opened the door himself.

"You take too damn long, get in," he said and Ed glared at him but went in, turning to the corner.

"We've got company," he grumbled, and Envy heard what sounded like moving pots and pans, he saw Alphonse stand up and the glowing red orbs that served as his eyes, looked almost like they'd widened.

"Envy?" he questioned, his echoey voice sounding shocked, and Envy sighed.

"Can't be anyone else can it?" he joked, and then Ed turned to him, arms crossed and eyes narrowed.

"Alright what do you want?" he demanded and Envy sighed again, running a hand through his hair, he should have thought things through before coming to him. He let out a huff of air, and then made a few faces, no point in beating around the bush was there?

"I want you to turn me human," he said staring at him straight in the eye, there was a moment of silence and then Ed snorted, and then started laughing.

"You want to..to be...human?! W-why?" he gasped, clutching at his sides, and then Alphonse was on him, smacking him hard enough to send him to the floor.

"Ow! What the hell?! Al?!" he screeched and then Al was looking at Envy, who wished he had a face so he could see the expression he had.

"Are you serious Envy?" he asked quietly, and Envy nodded. "Why?" he asked in that small voice of his, sounding genuinely curious.

"Are my reasons really needed?" he asked back, "I haven't ever had a say in much of my life, but I know, this is what I want," he said.

"But why? I thought you enjoyed being 'above us pathetic humans'?" He asked as close to scathing as Envy had ever heard him and he smiled a bit grimly.

"Alphonse, who am I?" he asked quietly, and he saw Ed frown at him in confusion, and imagined the younger brother had the same expression on his face. And then slowly, Ed's eyes widened, and he stared at the homunculus.

"You're jealous...of humans?" he said, but made it sound more like a question, Envy's eyebrow lifted.

"Took you awhile, didn't it?" he replied and Ed frowned and glared and was about to say something more when Alphonse spoke up.

"That's not the only reason, you're doing it for someone, who else are you doing it for?" he asked and Ed looked at his brother in what looked like awe.

"Myself," Envy said firmly, he wasn't about to tell them, these kids, why he was really asking them to break that rule again, he shook his head, "Look it doesn't matter, I just want to be human, will you do it?" he asked, getting impatient, he didn't want time to get his hopes up. There was a long pause before Ed answered.

"No," he said and Envy frowned at him not having to ask why since the blond answered before he asked, "I'm not committing another taboo just because you want to get your kicks as a human," he said firmly, and Envy didn't know why but he couldn't bother getting mad, it seemed like a waste of energy.

"Fine," He said and turned but Al stopped him this time.

"Why won't you tell us your other reason?" he asked quietly those red orbs glowing at him.

"You don't need to know," he replied and grabbed the door just as someone knocked on it, he took his hand from the knob stared at it wide eyed and then stepped back so Ed could open it, he hid in the corner just to be safe, but he wasn't.

"Hello Edward," Riza's voice came from the door way, and Envy hated that he shivered at the sound of it, hated that there were Elric's there to see it anyway.

"Hey Lieutenant, did you need something?" Ed asked sounding confused and Riza must have shook her head but stepped in because she was staring at him, he flailed a bit and had to catch himself from falling flat on his face.

"Envy, what are you doing here?" she asked, and he blinked at her and then shot forward and grabbed her hand and yanked her out of the room.

"Nothing," he said and the hand yanked back on his when they were in the hallway, she sighed and gazed at him thoughtfully.

"You were asking them to make you human, weren't you?" she asked quietly, and he went slightly pink.

"Well I know it looks that way but-" he started but she shook her head a small smile on her face, she raised her hand and set it on his cheek.

"I saw you follow him and followed you," she said brushing her thumb over his cheek gently, "You don't have to do this for me you know," she said and he shook his head.

"It's not just for you, I want to be selfish, I want to be human too, I don't want to have to watch you grow old and die, knowing I can't do a damn thing about it, I don't want to be alone any more," he said closing his eyes, pained, he felt her lean up and press her lips to his.

"I know," she said and he made a small noise between a snort and a pained laugh, he knew she knew and that was what was so great about her, she understood him, but it was still painful. He leaned his forehead against hers, his hand went to the back of her neck. She smiled at him a bit sadly and put her arms around him in a hug.

"I'll do it," a voice said gruffly, and they both looked over to see Ed standing in the doorway, Al behind him.

"Ed," Riza said quietly, gazing at him in slight surprise like she'd forgotten he'd been nearby, "You don't have to do anything, we'll find some other way," she said and Ed shook his head at her.

"No, I'm the only one who can, no one else knows as much about human transmutation than me and Al. We're all you've got," he said and Envy blinked at him, then snorted.

"Well, if you make it work, I owe you one," he said grimly, and Ed smirked at him his eyes flashing.

"Damn straight you do," he said and Envy rolled his eyes.

"Don't be so damn sure of yourself," he said, and then sighed, "I'll get you all the information I can about the subject," he said and Ed nodded, his eyes telling him that he was hungry for more research.

"Alright, sounds good," he said eagerly and opened his mouth again, but Alphonse put a hand on his brother's shoulder and he closed it again.

"Come on, Brother, I think they want to go home now," he said and Ed blinked and then nodded, he got the drift.

"Yeah alright, take care Lieutenant, and...uh you too Envy," he said and then the door closed, and then Riza whapped his chest lightly with the back of her hand.

"You're so much trouble, almost as bad as when I was first training Hayate," she sighed and he snorted.

"Never pooped on the floor though," he said and she laughed, kissing him on the cheek and then took his hand in hers as they made their way back home.

Envy rubbed the bridge of his nose, if he knew being around Ed this much would cause him, an immortal being that doesn't catch diseases or get the normal human problems like aches and pains, to get a headache, he wouldn't have asked for help.

"Wait, this doesn't make any sense it says that you have to switch the soul and the spirit but if those cross...whaaat?" Ed was squinting at one of the books Envy got for him, it was a very old book so Envy wasn't surprised he couldn't read it well, he snatched it back.

"It says the soul needs to be removed from the body while changes are being made, but if the spirit is removed as well there's no hope for getting the soul back in the body," he said and then handed it back, Ed blinked and looked at the page again.

"Oh," he said and continued squinting, the corners of his lips pointed down in a frown and his eyebrows scrunched in concentration. Envy's own eyebrows rose up in something like concern, he wondered if it was possible for Ed's face to get stuck like that.

"What about here?" he asked and Envy flopped on his back and then grunted and yanked a book from underneath him.

"Aren't you hungry or tired or something?" he asked trying to hold back a groan, he'd forgotten how annoying alchemists were.

"Yeah I guess but..." Ed replied his eyes still racing across the page, Envy sighed then stood up and dropped the book he'd been holding. Ed and Al who'd been in the corner both jumped.

"I'll get you some food," he said and Ed blinked at him then nodded slowly, they still weren't used to him yet, the fact that he thought about their human needs and didn't try to punch them in the face probably threw them off.

Envy left and returned a short time later with some sandwiches and a drink for Ed, Ed attacked the bag of food like a mad man.

"Food!" he cheered, Envy sighed, humans.

"So, did you get anywhere?" he asked and Ed was too busy stuffing his face, so Al answered.

"We think so, we found a few circles that combined may be able to do what we want, since we're not trying to actually give you a new body, we're just trying to make what you have human, this may actually work." he said and Envy nodded that was reassuring.

"Well if you use the stone, I'm sure there won't be any problems," he said and then raised a brow as the two brothers looked at him.

"About that...we...don't really want to," Ed said after he'd swallowed and Envy's brow rose.

"Why not?" he asked confused, "The stone should help," he said and the brothers sighed in unison.

"We agreed that we would never use a stone," Al explained and Envy stared.

"How very noble of you, so what are you going to give in return then? As much as I love the thought of you losing more limbs..." he trailed off and Ed scowled at him.

"We aren't going to use it," he said firmly.

"Your arm," Envy shrugged, and Ed snarled quietly under his breath, Envy could only roll his eyes. "Look at it this way, shrimp, you're using these souls, which by the way have no other purpose but to provide me life, to make me human, which might make their existence actually count for something positive...eh?"

Ed shook his head, "We can't it just isn't right..." he said quietly, Envy shrugged.

"Up to you," he replied, "I'm heading out, don't get killed," he said for a goodbye, then he hopped out of the window and vanished.

"He called me a shrimp again," Ed growled and Al could only sigh.

"Oh brother..."

Ed and Alphonse were geniuses for good reason, Alphonse suggested the use of Alkahestry the medical form of Alchemy for Xing, use that to redefine Envy's molecular make up, it would take up a lot of energy, but they knew it could be done, even without the stone, which Envy said was theirs when they were done, the said they didn't want it but he turned a deaf ear on their complaints.

Ed was going over a few last minute checks when Envy came into the room, something felt a bit off, but maybe he was just nervous.

His eyelids felt so heavy, he felt so heavy, and everything hurt. He took in a breath, it felt so strange feeling air go into his body and then come out again seconds later, but it hurt to breath right now, his chest...oh right Pride had stabbed him. He opened his eyes groaning, it was white and very bright, he tried bringing a hand up to cover his eyes, but it was very heavy and hard to lift, and then it was stopped, he couldn't move it any more than a few inches, there was something around his wrist, something around both of his wrists as a matter of fact. He couldn't lift either of his hands more than a few inches from the bed, he'd been handcuffed to the bed.

He huffed quietly, not like that really mattered, he didn't think he could stand let alone run if he tried. He felt terribly weak, and above all else, wanted to see Riza.

The door opened and someone walked in, it was a nurse, she blinked at him noticing he was awake, she stepped back out and said something to someone and then stepped back in, she gazed at him a bit unsure.

"How are you feeling?" she asked, it seemed to be an obligatory question since her tone made it sound like she didn't seem to really want to know. He frowned, was he really that scary looking? If so he didn't think he wanted to look in a mirror.

"I've been better," He croaked, and then coughed a bit, her face relaxed slightly, telling him she was a kind heart and didn't like seeing anyone in pain. He'd used to take advantage of those traits, didn't really have a reason for it anymore.

"Would you like a drink of water?" she asked with more sincerity than before, he nodded and sighed, then flinched.

"He sure got me good," he mumbled to himself, and the nurse came over and put a gentle hand behind his head and helped him lean forward so he could take a few gulps of water. He had no idea water could taste so good, or that the slight burning sensation in the back of his throat had been thirst.

"Thank you," he said quietly, if Riza had taught him anything, it was that being polite would get you anywhere. She smiled at him, apparently taken with him and not believing anything of what she'd been told of him before meeting him.

"You're welcome, is there anything else you need?" she asked, as she looked at a few of the machines he hadn't realized he was attached to.

"Is...is Riza out there?" he asked, hoping she was, the nurse looked confused, she didn't know her by name, he was about to describe the woman to her when someone walked in the room.

"You won't be seeing Riza," a deep cold voice said, Envy looked over to see Roy Mustang standing in the door, glaring at him.

He blinked at the man, he really didn't want to see him, he looked away and back at the nurse she was a much better sight, and she looked at him sympathetically, patting his hand. But she had to leave to give her report to the doctor.

"So, what plan is this, huh? Trying to get in with the humans now are you?" the man asked, his hands shoved in his uniform pockets, Envy refused to answer, refused to look at him to give him the pleasure of his attention.

"I want to see Riza," He said quietly, and the man snorted.

"That's not going to happen, ever, you're going to stay away from her," he said and Envy turned and gazed at him.

"You're jealous," he said, and watched as the man's eyes first widened and then narrowed dangerously.

"I will never be jealous of a murderer," he hissed, and he brought his hand out, it was gloved and looked very ready to snap.

"But you'll be one in your denial?" he asked and saw with grim satisfaction that he'd incited more of the man's wrath. He saw a spark light from the glove, and had to keep himself from smirking, he had to remember that he could die now, and he had someone to live for, which in retrospect was more important.

"You filthy piece of-" Roy hissed taking a step forward but he stopped at the sound of his name, from a familiar voice.

"Roy, that's enough," Envy looked at the doorway and smiled, Riza was standing there, her arms crossed, glaring at the man in fury. He was a bit surprised to see Ed standing behind her looking a bit out of breath.

"Riza?" Roy looked at her shocked, "How did you-?" he started and Riza entered the room and stood in front of Envy, facing the man threatening him.

"Ed," she said in explanation, and the blond boy stepped forward and glared at his commanding officer.

"I wasn't about to let you get away with this," he said, and before Roy could protest, Ed had shoved him out of the room and slammed the door behind him.

"Now that he's out of the picture," Ed nodded and then turned to Envy with a self satisfied smirk, "You owe me three!" he said and Envy blinked, before rolling his eyes.

"I never killed you when I had the chance, I think that makes us even," he said smirking and Ed narrowed his eyes at him.

"No way, I'll get my favors you can count on that," he said and Envy waved his hand lazily, dismissing the idea, but that seemed to draw attention to the fact that he was handcuffed to the bed.

Riza walked over and stared down at them in disgust, but Envy was looking at her, she looked a bit worse for wear but all around just fine.

"I'm fine," he promised, but she didn't seem too convinced, "Really, this human thing isn't so bad, though the constant throbbing I think I could do without." he said laughing lightly but she looked more worried.

"Envy..." she said and he shook his head, her eyes narrowed in concern, she'd seen his hand twitch, she figured he'd wanted to touch her but couldn't, she grabbed his hand and he rubbed the back of hers with his thumb.

"I'm fine, I'm better than fine," he said quietly, a smile spreading across his face, "I'm a human now, I get to be with you, I don't have to just watch you die, I can die with you, I can live with you," he said quietly, though unnecessary. Ed, who was showing a remarkable amount of tact, was humming loudly to himself and looking through a magazine that had been on a chair he was now sitting in.

"I'm glad to hear it," she smiled and leaned over, kissing him gently he smiled and kissed her back.

It was a bittersweet moment, they were finally together the way they wanted, but there were still problems that needed fixing, but they could wait for later.

He was happy that was for sure, Riza came to the hospital every chance she got, which wasn't that often, Roy tried so hard to keep her at work that Envy was truly starting to despise the man, most especially for his dense head. He discovered many things about humans he never really knew, like when they were hungry, the grumbly bubbly feeling in his stomach, it had made him laugh when he realized it.

Being human made him happy, it hadn't granted him freedom, but he was happy.

And yet being human didn't bring Envy salvation, instead it brought him more trouble, and after repeated attempts of Roy having him throw in prison, the accusations weren't enough to actually get him there but he was still handcuffed, and a little change was almost welcome, or it would have been if it hadn't come in the form of his brother Pride.

It was late at night when a chill ran down his spine and he started awake, looking around the room as best he could from his position.

He exhaled slowly and felt the presence all around the room engulfing the walls, there was a chuckle that echoed a bit from somewhere in the room.

"Hello little brother," the voice said sounding highly amused, Envy frowned and fisted his hands, if Pride really wanted to kill him this time, there wasn't anything stopping him. He didn't reply, having nothing to say.

"Are you scared?" Pride asked, sounding even more amused, "You should be," he chuckled when Envy didn't reply, "Father wants to see you, he has a question for you," he said and chuckled at the sound of Envy inhaling sharply.

"But look at this, the humans don't seem to trust you do they? You're all tied up, tsk tsk," and then Envy felt the handcuffs fall from his wrists he rubbed them in relief he was only able to have them off when he went to the bathroom, "Come," Pride said, and he didn't budge, but then felt the encouragement of black shadows on him, "Come," Pride said more firmly and then Envy stood, he didn't seem to have a choice did he?

He took a step and then felt the shadows engulf him, it seemed Pride was impatient and was taking him to Father quickly.

The next time he could see he was in the lair, and on the ground in front of the blond man who was looking down at him in indifference.

Envy sighed and looked back at him unblinkingly, the only thing he wished was different was that he wasn't in a hospital gown, there was something about the drab thin cloth shirts and pants that made one feel particularly weak.

"My child," the man spoke, his deep voice seemed to reverberate around the dungeon like room. Envy's jaw tightened slightly, he had a feeling things could go very sour if he wasn't careful.

"Yes?" he said evenly, he may no longer be a homunculus, but this man was still his creator and could be considered his father, so being called his child wasn't too disputable, no matter how much he wanted to deny it.

"Why have you abandoned me? You agreed to help me to my mission of greatness, to be a tool to reach the end." he said and Envy made a disgruntled face, was he always an old wind-bag?

"I've done nothing of the sort, I've done exactly what you made me want to do, you made me jealous of humans, to be what I was not, to want that more than anything and to get there by any means, and that's what I've done." he said and then smiled, "So I have you to thank Father, I am happy thanks to what you gave me," he said he saw a flicker of what could have been mistaken for pleasure in the man's eyes, but sometimes it was hard to tell.

"I see," he said and there was a very long pause, "And what will you do to earn this? To keep the happiness you have found?" he asked and Envy's eyes narrowed.

"What exactly do you mean...?" he asked slowly, and there was a small twitch of the man's mouth, a smirk.

"I will let you remain as you are, if you still give me your loyalty," he said and Envy pursed his lips, of course.

"I have a feeling I don't really have a choice, do I?" he asked and there was a nudge from Pride, that was a no.

"Fine," he said crossing his arms, "But don't expect me to like it," he muttered to himself, and then there was a smack to his back, Pride had used his shadows to hit him, again.

"Be respectful," he said in a hard voice, as close to a hiss as he would ever get, Envy glared at him and rubbed his chest.

"Yes big brother," he said sarcastically, Pride's eyes narrowed slightly but he didn't respond.

"I will call upon you, my child," Father said in a voice that broached no argument, and before Envy could even try he was engulfed by darkness and on his way back to the hospital.

"Ow! Think you could be any rougher you sad excuse for an-oh...hi." Envy had landed back in his hospital room right on his ass, right in front of several nurses and none other than Roy Mustang, "Now before you say anything, I was kidnapped, and brutally tortured and then dumped here as a message, mhmm," he nodded avidly staring at the group of people wide eyed. He was sure had he been anyone else, they would have laughed, but Mustang scowled, though the two nurses gave hesitant laughs, before one of them noticed he was bleeding.

"Oh you have a cut on your cheek," she said and came over to clean and bandage it.

"Really?" he asked sounding surprised, he tried to look down at it, but she had his chin in her hand. "Little jerk..." he mumbled, Pride knew that would scar now, it was probably retaliation for the jab he'd made at him.

"What deal have you made with the homunculi?" Mustang demanded, and Envy stared at him.

"Not much, just eternal life and glory, all in exchange for your paperwork," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, oh he was on a roll.

"Don't give me that you little-" he snarled and and kicked Envy in the side, he fell over and grabbed at his ribs.

"Talk...about kicking a man...when he's down," he gasped as the doctor rushed to his side, the nurses pushed the other man away.

"You will not treat a patient like that sir!" the one who had bandaged him earlier said sounding truly shocked.

"Oh don't worry...he likes...the power...that comes with...killing the helpless," he gasped and the man snarled again and tried to attack him again but froze when there was a click from behind him.

"Sir, I'm going to ask you to calm down," Riza said, her pistol pointed straight at the back of Roy's head.

"Lieutenant Hawkeye, what do you think you are doing?" he growled and Riza frowned at the back of his head.

"I'm protecting the one that I love," she replied no waver in her voice, nothing just the solid truth.

"Jealous?" Envy asked still smirking from the floor and Riza's eyes flickered down to him, she frowned at him next.

"Envy," she scolded and he went pink, feeling slightly ashamed, he bowed his head.

"Sorry," he muttered, mostly for her benefit but also for giving the doctor more work, who was now helping him up and back onto the hospital bed.

"It looks like you'll have bruised ribs but nothing terribly serious," the doctor said trying to change the subject.

"Aaah," he let out and then sighed, laying on the bed and staring at Riza who was frowning at Mustang who seemed to be debating what to do, eventually he growled under his breath then whipped around and left.

Riza sighed and put her pistol away, looking upset, Envy bit his bottom lip and then held out his hand to her, she smiled and walked over to him to take it, he lifted the calloused hand to his lips and pressed a gentle kiss to the knuckles. She smiled at him and then showing a moment of weakness crawled onto the bed with him and sidled up to him.

"What's wrong?" he asked quietly, and she sighed, looking down.

"It's become extremely difficult to be able to get you out of here and not locked in a jail cell, even with Ed supporting you, Roy has put so much pressure on the case..." she sighed and Envy sighed and kissed her gently.

"Soon his opinion won't matter," he said trying to smile, but was too worried really for the smile to come through.

"What do you mean?" she asked, now looking worried as well.

"Father...has...well let's just say I get to keep living as long as I continue to work for him," he said and Riza stared at him.

"Are you okay?" she asked and he smiled at her concern leaning forward to kiss her gently on the lips.

"I'm fine, and I will be as long as I play along," he said and she nodded slowly before laying sideways and rested her head on his shoulder. She wasn't happy hearing that news, but she was happy he was okay. For now.

Riza sighed as she walked into the apartment, Envy was in the kitchen, he popped his head out and smiled at her.

"Welcome home, long day?" he asked seeing her slouching just slightly, and she nodded and put her jacket on the back of the couch.

"Quite," she answered and then sniffed, "Oh smells good, what're you making?" she asked attempting to peek over his shoulder and he turned around and waved his finger at her.

"Tsk tsk, you'll see, now sit." he pointed to the table and she narrowed her eyes at him, he smirked back.

"You're no fun," she pouted playfully and he laughed.

"Oh really? Well, I don't know about that, might have to prove you wrong," he said winking and she raised her brows at him.

"Oh is that so?" she said and he just grinned as he brought their dinner over, it smelled great and tasted wonderful. But Riza was somewhat distracted, especially since one of Envy's legs was trying to molest her under the table.

"Envy," she grumbled as his foot ended up resting on the chair between her thighs, he smiled and took another bite of food.

"Hmmm?" he hummed in question and moved his foot closer to her crotch, her eyes narrowed again and then reached over the table, grabbed the front of his shirt and then pulled him in for a kiss.

"Bedroom. Now." she demanded after they pulled apart from the heated kiss and he smirked and then was up and dragging her in that direction in seconds.

Though she was pushed against the wall before they made it to the bedroom, his mouth attached to her throat, and his hands moving up her stomach under her shirt.

"A-ah...Envy..." she moaned, her hands gripping his shoulders, trying to pull him the rest of the way to the bedroom.

Somehow they made it into the room and fell on the bed, Envy smirked down at her and then took off her shirt.

"I've missed you," he said and she blushed, maybe she HAD been working a lot lately, he bent down and kissed her neck, yeah she really needed to work less.

His hand ran up her stomach and cupped her breast, his lips trailed down her neck to her collarbone and she moaned again.

"I'm sorry...I've been...oooh...trying to...Oh...Mmmm...Envy," he chuckled as she lost coherency, his hand had traveled down her side and leg and then back up to brush at her womanhood through her pants.

She moaned deep in her throat and pushed herself further into his hand, wanting more pressure and contact.

"Oh Envy..." she gasped and he hummed at her, enjoying the show, he pressed his hand into her harder, then he unbuckled her pants and maneuvered his hand inside he pushed past her panties and pressed a finger inside of her, she moaned loudly. He twirled it around and brushed against her sweet spot she called out.

"Oh god!" she cried and he moaned at the sight of her bucking her hips for him, it had been way too long. She made a few incoherent noises and pulled him away, she pulled off her pants and underwear and then yanked at his own.

"Riza..." he purred, "Calm down," and she snarled at him, he moaned, she was so...he moaned again and then took her lips forcefully.

"Take me, now," she hissed at him, he wondered briefly if she was getting close to that time of the month, not like he cared, he lost those thoughts as he did as she demanded.

He thrust into her and she cried out in pleasure. "Oh Envy!" she bucked her hips and he followed with another thrust, she moaned and he started moving, she followed suit, gripping onto him, bringing him close, she wanted as much contact with him as possible.

They moved together, thrusting and panting, Envy kissed her throat and lips as they moved, Riza was engrossed in the pleasure he was giving her, it was intense and real, and she loved it, just as she loved him.

He sped up and she moaned wanting even more, he obliged giving her more, their hips moved together, working to bring them close to their finish, he was moaning and she was crying out when finally they climaxed, calling each others names, and gasping for breath once the fell, Riza pulled him close, not caring that they were still connected.

"I love you," she whispered and he held her tightly, his hand on her blond hair.

"I love you too," he replied just as quietly, squeezing her for a moment, she sighed happily nuzzling him affectionately. He was so happy, so overjoyed that he had her, he couldn't think of anything that could make this better.

Riza couldn't believe it, she honestly couldn't believe it. There was just no way it was possible, at least that's what she'd thought, at first. That's why she'd done it a second time, but still it was the same, so she tried the third almost out of panic. But there it was that damned little plus sign she'd been dreading. She had gotten a trickle of worry two weeks ago when her period hadn't come but she was holding out, but now there really was no denying it. She was pregnant.

She, Riza Hawkeye, was pregnant, she couldn't believe it.

She had no idea how to deal with this, she wasn't mother material, that was Gracia's department, or even Rebbecca, not her. She took a deep breath and tossed the pregnancy test in the trash and then remembered that she wasn't alone in this, she had a partner in crime.

Envy was probably more insecure about children than she was, she had no idea how he was going to take it, but still, he should have been more careful! She frowned and then marched out of the ladies room and headed for her thick-headed and careless husband's office.

Once there she drew her side arm and pushed the door open, she made sure he was aware it was her before lifting it and firing it at him. Envy looked up when he saw the door open, and then blinked when he saw Riza, but his eyes widened when she had her pistol out and shot at him.

"What did I do?" he asked not moving an inch and she shot off both of his shoulder boards, he frowned.

"Good answer," he said wryly and then a bullet whizzed past his face and he glared at her. "Riza!" he snapped and then he stood up and walked over to her taking the gun from her hands.

"What the hell is the problem?" he asked, a little irked at being shot at and she tried to take her gun back and was upset when he wouldn't let her have it.

"Give it back," she demanded, and Envy set it on his desk and grabbed her hands looking concerned.

"What's wrong?" he asked quietly, and she looked at him, the corners of her mouth turned down and her eyes glimmering in trouble.

She looked at him and opened and closed her mouth several times, trying to find the words to say but she couldn't, finally she looked down took a deep breath and then looked him straight in the eyes.

"I'm pregnant." she said and Envy looked at her for a moment, blinking and then suddenly his eyes widened.

"W-what?" he breathed, "But that's not possible!" he exclaimed shaking his head, "I don't have genes to pass on I don't have the other half of the chromosomes," he said totally bewildered. And Riza shook her head.

"We don't know that, that was always a theory you had," she said and then smacked his shoulder with her open palm. "You lazy jerk! You only said it to get out of wearing a condom!" she said smacking him again.

"No I didn't! I said it because I thought the gate wouldn't let me have kids!" he defended, he was looking at his wife a little shocked, she never acted like this. She must have been just as troubled as he was if not more so.

"Not like I could raise them," he added and Riza frowned and looked down, this was going to be hard, this whole ordeal, no the rest of their lives, for the both of them.

"Well one is on the way, you're going to have to learn, we both will," she said quietly, and Envy blinked at her before wrapping his arms around her and holding her close.

"I'm scared," he mumbled into her hair and Riza's eyes widened, she knew he'd never have admitted that if it weren't true. Her own arms came up around him and she held him back.

"So am I," she admitted back and he held her more tightly, she closed her eyes, she loved being in his arms, warm and secure.

"Riza what are we going to do?" he whispered and she shook her head, she couldn't hold it back now she was pressing her lips together so tightly they were white she inhaled shakily just as the first tear fell and was absorbed into her husbands uniform.

"I don't know, I don't know," she whispered back and felt a hand on the back of her head, holding her tenderly. This was going to be long and hard and they didn't know what to do, she was sure these tears were not going to be the last during this, but she wasn't alone and that was a comfort. She gripped the black material of Envy's jacket and buried her face deeper into his shoulder, they had things to do, but for now she just wanted to be held.

"We need a bigger house," Riza said one evening while Envy was looking over some paperwork in the living room.

"Huh?" he said looking up a few moments before the words made sense, "We do?" he asked, "Why?" and made a face until Riza pointed at her stomach, they'd barely talked about the pregnancy yet, but they couldn't avoid it forever.

"Oh yeah," he mumbled and looked down, a new house for one baby? Couldn't they put it in the closet or something?

"Well...where do we go to find one?" he asked and Riza sighed and sat down on the couch next to him, she wasn't even close to showing yet, but she was very aware of her stomach at the moment.

"It won't be too hard, we can just ask the housing department, it's their job after all," she said and Envy nodded, "The only problem is just moving, I've been here for so long..." she trailed off, and he knew she also was thinking of the sentimental value of this tiny apartment they shared, he grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

"It'll be fine," he said reassuringly, even though he was hard to believe it himself but she smiled grateful for the effort, she leaned over and kissed him gently and he squeezed her hand again then wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

"I can't wrap my head around it, a baby...what do you do with a baby? How do you treat it?" Envy whispered and Riza's arms came up around him.

"I don't know," she replied and sighed, "But we'll learn, and Gracia will help I'm sure..." she trailed off and then sighed.

"You mean if he lets her help," Envy snorted, Gracia; she was a sweet lady, and Roy had tried to get at Envy by telling her the truth about Maes, but the woman was too forgiving and wouldn't let Envy apologize. Roy had been furious but hadn't done anything or said anything and the woman hadn't known a thing. Then something occurred to both of them.

"How are you going to tell him?" Envy got to it first and Riza shook her head and placed a hand on her stomach and looked down, then Envy placed his hand over hers. "I'm not going to let you do it alone," he said and she looked up at him, and then smiled before kissing him gently.

"I think, with you there I can do it," she said and Envy nodded and kissed her back then kissed her forehead, before looking down at her still flat stomach. He spread his fingers over her shirt and wondered what it was going to feel like when the baby was bigger.

A baby, he still couldn't grasp the concept, a baby, a part of him and a part of her. It was supposed to be very happy, he'd seen people who had children on the way, mothers and fathers, they looked so happy, he'd never actually seen anyone happier. But all he felt was apprehension, what if he did something wrong, what if the child hated him, what if he hurt it? He wasn't exactly patient and he had never really been around children before, he didn't trust himself.

"Riza...are you sure we can do this?" He whispered and Riza placed her hand on his head and held him close.

"No," she said honestly, and he expected nothing less from her, "But we will learn, and we will do the best we can, we're not perfect, we're human, it's what we do." she said and Envy made a noise between a laugh a snort and a sob.

"I hate it when you're right, but I much prefer when you are, because it means I don't have to be," he said into her hair and she laughed then Envy pulled back and smirked.

"So, I was thinking, while you still have the stamina we could have a little fun," and he crawled over her so she was laying on the couch.

"You're insatiable," she said and he chuckled and placed his lips over hers, so when he spoke they would brush against hers.

"That's why you love me," he chuckled and Riza shook her head.

"No I'm pretty sure I love you for your hot body," she teased and then Envy sat up and flexed, he kissed his arm to play along.

"I know, everyone is falling for this sexy piece right here," he said and she started laughing, he smiled down at her and felt her laughter was contagious and started to laugh too, they hadn't had a good laugh in a very long time, if he did say so himself, they needed it.

Riza was nervous, and dropped the files she'd been holding, she bent down to retrieve them, they had planned on telling them all today, but she didn't think it was such a good idea anymore.

"Colonel, are you alright?" Riza jumped and dropped the files again scrambling to pick them up and turn around and saluted.

"Yes sir, just distracted sir!" she said, looking at Roy's shoulder, which sagged a bit, he walked forward and took her hand, the saluting one.

"Riza what's wrong, you've been acting jumpy all day...is...is he mistreating you?" he asked, his voice going dangerously low, and Riza scoffed taking her hand back.

"Of course not, I don't think he'd know how to hurt me any more even if he wanted to," she said and then gave him a look, "By the way, we need to talk in a half an hour in your office," she said. And he blinked then nodded, Riza whipped around and walked away, leaving the man there staring at her.

She couldn't help it, every time Roy started something like that she got defensive, she knew Envy loved her, she could see it in his eyes and the way he smiled at her and how every morning she would wake to see him watching her sleep. He'd given up everything for her, immortality, his family; despite how dysfunctional they were, his powers which he had admitted he did miss from time to time, but still said she was worth it and always would be. She had no doubt in her mind that he loved her and would never hurt her in anyway, and she was sick and tired of Roy's stubbornness. But that didn't stop her from being apprehensive of his response to their news.

Riza was clutching onto Envy's hand as they stood outside Roy's office, she figured it was best if they told him first and then the others, so he didn't hear it from them.

"Ready?" Envy asked and she nodded then turned the handle and pushed the door open, Roy was sitting behind his desk, and looked expectant, but then his face darkened at the sight of Envy.

"Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel," he addressed them and they looked at each other, Envy's cheeks puffed out at her and she smiled.

"Roy, we have something to share at you," she said and Roy's eyebrow quirked, getting the distinct feeling he wasn't going to like this.

"And what might that be?" he asked casually, and Riza swallowed, Envy squeezed her hand in support, she took a deep breath and started.

"A few weeks ago, I found out I was pregnant," she said, "Envy and I are going to have a baby," and then she bit her lip, waiting for the mans response, it appeared that at the moment he was frozen in shock. It was several moments before he seemed to come back to himself and let his face crack and break out into a smile.

"That's wonderful news, I'm so happy for you," he said and Riza nodded slowly, knowing he was taking this hard.

"Thank you, we thought you should be the first to know," she said and he smiled more brightly, and much more insincerely.

"I'm so glad you thought so," and then he sighed, "Well I have some more work to do, we'll have to talk more later," he said, and then looked down at his desk, they took their cue to leave and Riza closed the door and then let out a deep breath.

"Well, that went well," she said and Envy chuckled at her then picked up her hand and kissed it gently.

"Yes I guess it did, ready to tell the others?" he asked and she smirked at him.

"Piece of cake." she replied and he laughed.

The others took it reasonably well, there was a lot of surprise at first but then they all congratulated them and asked when the due date was and other normal obligatory questions when fronted with such news.

Envy was watching as Riza talked to the others, he hadn't exactly been accepted into their little group and as much as it pained him to think, he was a bit disappointed about it.

He sighed and rested the back of his head against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched, he brought a new meaning to wall flower. Riza looked at him briefly and gave him an apologetic smile, he shrugged and smiled back, he didn't mind being ignored for a little while so she could talk with her friends. Contrary to most of their beliefs, he wasn't as jealous as they thought, well not anymore anyway.

"So you're going to be a dad," Envy blinked and looked over to see the blond haired guy Lust had sent to the hospital, Havoc was his name, he was pretty sure.

"Yeah..." he said hesitantly, looking at the other man, he had an unlit cigarette in between his lips which were quirked in an unsure smile.

"You know, I was sure Mustang was right about you at first, but after all this time and you're still with her and she's still looks...happy," he frowned a bit bemusedly, like he was surprised Riza could actually hold that emotion for so long. "And well...now I've decided to make my own opinion of you, and you're not so bad, you know for a creep," he grinned and Envy had a look on his face that was a lot like a frown and a pout and somewhat confused.

"I'm not a creep," he said, now the pout mostly taking over and Havoc started laughing and then clapped him on the back.

"What's so funny?" Riza asked coming over to them, looking a bit surprised to see the two of them talking.

"Oh...nothing," Havoc said grinning around his cigarette, Envy just continued to pout, Havoc put a hand on each of their shoulders.

"I'm happy for you, I think it'll be good for a kid to be around, should lighten things up," he said and then went to talk to Fury.

"What was that about?" she asked now looking confused, and Envy shook his head, then lifted his hand and brushed her cheek gently.

"Nothing, he just said he's going to stick to his own opinions about me and not listen to stubborn guys with poles up their butts," he said and Riza snorted and rolled her eyes.

"He said that did he?" she asked and he shrugged, smirking slightly.

"Something like that," she shook her head and laughed, then leaned up and kissed him lightly on the lips.

"I'm glad that you're starting to get along with the others," she said and he pouted at her, sticking his bottom lip out further than usual.

"It wasn't my fault they thought I was a-" He wrinkled his nose, "a creep." he huffed and Riza stared at him then covered her mouth to try and stifle her giggles.

He pouted at her trying his hardest not to laugh too, because when she laughed it was way too tempting, but he had to keep his cool, or...his pout in this case.

"You think I'm a creep too!" He whined and she started flat out laughing then wrapped her arms around his neck and then pulled him in for a deeper kiss then pulled back and smiled.

"You're not a creep, but even if you were, you'd still be mine, though they do have a point, you were quite the creep back in the day," she said and he rolled his eyes.

"Oh great, let's tell our kid that, 'it's okay honey, daddy is just naturally creepy, there's only a small chance you'll end up as a psychotic murderer too!'" he snorted and Riza started laughing again, this time he couldn't help but join in, she sighed and hugged him tightly.

"As long as the baby gets your sense of humor I think we'll be safe from any late night slashings," she said and Envy nodded.

"True, my comedian side can't be beat, at least we'll live a long time," he said and she looked at him, her head cocked to the side with a curious smile, he grinned back.

"Didn't you know? Laughter makes you live longer," he smirked and she laughed again then took a deep breath.

"As long as it's with you," she said and he smiled and kissed her gently, until of course the hoots and hollers from the other guys in the office, they both went pink and then chased them off in embarrassment, then gave each other looks and started laughing again, over all it was a good day.

A retching sound from the bathroom and a moan woke Envy from sleep, he got up to investigate, "Riza?" he called softly, having noticed she wasn't in bed.

"Go away..." she whined pathetically, Envy stepped into the bathroom and kneeled next to her, he set his arm on her back.

"I'm sorry..." he whispered, truly meaning it, maybe if he had been more careful then she wouldn't be suffering like this.

"Shut up, idiot," she groaned, flushing the toilet and stood, he followed suit, "I'm at fault too, I could have been taking birth control," she said with a sigh.

"Yeah...but you didn't think you had to because of what I told you," he said quietly, looking very guilty. Riza let out a breath, she reached her hands forward and cupped his cheeks.

"Envy...you can't always take all of the guilt," she whispered, "We are in this together, for better or worse, remember?" she poked his cheek.

"I remember," he grinned despite himself, he wasn't alone, and maybe, that was all that mattered.

The new house was two stories and Envy was convinced he was going to fall down the stairs and break his neck. Riza only said if she didn't push him first.

Envy noticed she got more snappy and onery and grumpy and a number of things due to the pregnancy, it was hard for him to hold his tongue, he'd learned the hard way that he needed to. The first time, he'd made a witty retort in return to one of her snarky comments and she started cry, Envy had nearly freaked out. He couldn't handle her crying, especially because of him. He'd made it up to her by making a very good dinner and something very sweet for dessert. She was fine in moments.

Envy learned quickly that chocolate was a good breakdown deterrent, he also noticed that when she was at work, she kept her emotions to herself, she was still normal while she was there, but when she came home, Envy had to tread carefully.

But he did his best, trying to be as supportive as possible while he also did his own job, he sure hoped the baby came soon. Even though Riza was only three months and was just starting to show. It was going to be a long pregnancy.

"Riza give me the gun," Envy demanded and his wife glared at him and held onto her pistol tighter.

"You can't bring it into the delivery room with you," he told her calmly, "You could put the doctors and baby in danger, give me the gun," he demanded again holding his hand out and the woman was about to tell him something that would normally never come out of her mouth when another contraction hit, Envy used that as a distraction and plucked the gun from her hands.

"Take her," he told the nurses and they wheeled the woman to the delivery room who was swearing in Drachmanian, Envy cocked his head to the side and wondered if he should have taught her those words but then shrugged. She would have been doing it in Amestrian if not so he figured it was probably better.

He sighed, he was so nervous it was making him think too much, he looked down at the gun in his hand, it was rattling slightly from the shaking in his hand. In mere hours he was going to be a father, he was kind of freaking out about it.

"Hey man you okay?" He turned to see Havoc standing there holding a teddy bear and he grinned, the man was such a sob, a teddy bear for the gate's sake. He inhaled and then shook his head.

"Oh fine, just anticipating one of the most life changing moments of my existence," he said and the blond man nodded in understanding.

"Well I can see you made sure that it will continue at least," he said with a grin gesturing at the gun, and Envy nodded.

"Can you hold onto it? I should probably..." he waved his hand towards the delivery room and Havoc nodded and took the gun but noticed the shaking.

"Hey man, don't worry about it, things will be fine," he said and Envy tried to feel reassured but wasn't in the slightest, he was absolutely terrified.

"Yeah," he said and then turned to go join his wife, he walked into the room and Riza's knuckles were white from how hard she was gripping the sheets, Envy flinched, his poor hand. He bit his bottom lip and walked over to her and unclenched her hand and then took it in his own, she looked at him and he could tell she was just as scared as she was, he smiled at her and then kissed her hand.

"You'll do great," he promised her and she sweeped her eyes over his face before nodding and then clenched her eyes closed as a contraction hit, she gasped when it ended and blew her bangs from her face in slight irritation.

"Alright Riza when the next contraction hits I need you to push," the doctor said from between her legs, Riza nodded and then did as told.

Envy flinched when his knuckles rubbed together but didn't say anything, he wasn't the one in real pain here.

"AAAAAAAH!" Riza screamed, as she pushed, her face going red, she panted when the doctor told her to stop, Envy brought her hand to his lips and kissed it again. She glared at him.

"Never again! I am NEVER sleeping with you again, do you hear me?!" she yelled at him and Envy sighed, he should have expected that, "Where the hell is my pistol I'm going to shoot it off!" she screeched and Envy paled.

"Riz...there's a reason you don't have it, and that's it." he said, trying to keep calm, if he was calm she'd be less likely to freak out herself.

"Then I'll yank it off!" she yelled at him right before another contraction hit and she had to push, Envy sighed, who knew she could be so violent.

"Mr. Hawkeye it might be better for her if you sit behind her, moral support," the doctor said and Envy nodded, anything to make it better he would do, and it would also protect his forethreatened parts. With some help from the nurses he was able to sit behind her and hold her, he took both of her hands and didn't make a sound when she squeezed them with all of her might.

"You're going to be celibate for the rest of your life!" she screamed and pushed, Envy sighed again and knew she didn't mean it but with a new baby he knew that would be true for several months.

He squeezed her hands back in encouragement when she panted between pushes and screams and at some point Envy was sure he felt his hand break, but then after several hours there was a wail and Riza was laying against him panting, sweaty, close to tears and exhausted, but she was still beautiful.

Envy wrapped his arms around her shoulders and hugged her, whispering things into her ear that made her start to sniffle out of relief and happiness, one of the nurses seemed to notice his now swollen hand and helped him out from behind Riza so she could bandage and set his hand as Riza delivered the placenta while other nurses washed off the baby. The nurse wrapped up his hand and he sat in a chair next to Riza, more concerned about her than his throbbing hand. He took her other hand and kissed it, she looked up at him and smiled bringing their joined hands to her lips.

"Would Daddy like to hold his baby girl?" the nurse asked making Envy look at her both in surprise and utter terror, but something still clicked.

"It's a girl?" he asked as the nurse placed the pink blanket wrapped baby in his arms, he looked down and felt something bloom in his chest as he looked down at that tiny face with eyes shut tight and a tuff of dirty blond hair.

A tear trailed down his cheek and landed on the soft pink blanket.

"Holy crap," he whispered, "Holy crap," he repeated as he looked at the small life cuddled in his arms, he was holding his daughter.

"Envy?" Riza asked, she saw another tear trail down his cheek and she reached out a hand to wipe it away.

"How?" he asked looking up at her, and she could see in his eyes that he was happy, he was crying for happiness. "How did something so small and delicate come from a part of me?" he asked and Riza smiled tiredly and rubbed his cheek.

"Because, you are so much more than a smart-mouthed, sarcastic, horn-dog," she said and he gave a watery laugh and kissed her hand.

"I love you," she said and Envy smiled at her, then he gently set the baby in her mother's arms then bent over and kissed her.

"I love you too," he whispered back to her, and she smiled then looked down at her baby girl and felt the same love bloom in her chest and new tears joined the ones already falling from her eyes.

"Hello Hayden," she whispered to the baby girl who was fussing slightly, "Hayden Lynn Hawkeye," she said Envy smiled at the sound of it. It was perfect, just like her.

The new family went home and the first week was hard, Envy had been pulled aside by the doctor who told him that Riza might experience Postpartum depression, or possibly 'baby blues', and Envy needed to keep a close eye on her for the next month to see if she showed any of the symptoms.

Getting time off for Riza was easy, Maternity leave came with ease to the Fuhrer's favorite subordinate, Paternity leave for the Fuhrer's worst enemy was a totally different story. But eventually Envy got the man's secretary to get it to be signed off and he was granted a month and a half of leave, for which he was glad, he wanted to get as much time with his baby girl as he could before he was punished for his 'insubordination' because, apparently wanting to spend time with one's family was punishable.

He snorted and shook his head as he stirred some pasta, Riza was asleep, she had been sleeping a lot since the birth, and so had the baby, according to the doctor, it was fairly normal.

He put the pasta in the strainer when he heard the baby start to whine and then slowly start to cry, she was hungry, and then he heard Riza get up and out of the bed, she always did when the baby cried and then she fed her, and then she went back to bed.

It worried Envy, he was wondering if perhaps she was depressed, she was certainly showing symptoms, the doctor had given him pamphlets about it. She had sever mood swings and would be smiling or smirking at him one moment and crying her eyes out the next. Sometimes he wondered if maybe she missed that connection with the baby, they had been one unit for nine months after all, it had to have been hard.

He just hoped he'd be able to help, or do something, he hated sitting around and not being able to do anything to help her, so instead he took care of the baby and anything he could around the house, and over all felt somewhat at a loss of what to do himself at times.

He sighed and finished up the pasta and set it on the table then headed to the nursery, the baby had calmed for a while, but was now crying again.

He opened the door to the nursery and stepped in, Riza wasn't in there, he assumed she was back in their bedroom, he went over to the crib and picked her up, he set her against his chest and she calmed after a moment, probably at the sound of his heartbeat, so she'd wanted attention. He frowned and looked in the direction of the bedroom, he needed to talk to her, she couldn't go on like this.

He walked into the bedroom, saw Riza lying on her side back to the door, and sighed softly.

"Riza?" he asked quietly and he heard a soft hiccup that could have also been a sob, his brow furrowed in worry, he hoped she wasn't crying, he hated when she cried, it hurt to see.

"Riza," He murmured softly, sitting on the bed and setting his hand on her shoulder, the baby still in his other arm.

"What?" she whispered and he felt horrible, she sounded so...so sad, devastated. He let his hand sweep down to her neck and then up to her cheek, he pulled her over so she was laying on her back.

"What's wrong?" he asked, but her eyes went to the baby, and then they teared up more, she shook her head and then tried to turn away again but he wouldn't let her.

"Riza...please," he begged, holding the child closer to his chest, "Please tell me what's wrong," he begged, close to desperation, his hand squeezed her arm.

"I...it..." she started then shook her head, her hair was ratty and a mess, but it still shone slightly when her head shook. "It's nothing," she whispered, sounding tired. Envy opened his mouth to protest but then decided against it.

"Okay..." he whispered and then had an idea, "But you have to let me hold you," he said and she turned and blinked at him, "Which means you have to hold Hayden," he said and then he saw her eyes go to the baby and she looked torn, over what he didn't know, then she looked him in the eyes, eventually her arms opened up hesitantly. He smiled and then gently set the baby in her arms letting her small head rest over his wife's heart, the baby was now sound asleep, but it wasn't bad to be careful. And then he moved closer opened his arms and then took her in them, holding her close with their baby between them, dinner was forgotten for the moment as were the problems because it felt just right.

They would eat and talk later, but for now this was perfect.

"Riza," Envy said and the woman looked up from her food, her hair was now brushed, tied in a braid over her shoulder, she looked a little better but still wasn't quite the same.

"Now, will you tell me what's wrong?" he asked quietly and her eyes went down to her food and then back up to his, she was obviously thinking, he knew she had to know that he wasn't going to let this drop.

"I...I just don't know what to feel," she said quietly poking at her unfinished food, Envy wondered if he maybe should have waited until she'd eaten more before broaching the topic.

But he waited for her to continue speaking, he didn't want to interrupt.

"I feel like...like I shouldn't...touch her, like I'll taint her," she whispered, "I have blood on my hands, I don't want to get it on her," she whispered and Envy's face softened.

"Riza..." he started but she shook her head and suddenly choked on a sob.

"N-no, I shouldn't be a mother, I'll b-be awful, I can't take care of h-her," she sobbed and Envy got up and went over to her side of the table, he wrapped his arms around her shoulders as she buried her face in her hands.

"You know that's not true, it's positively crazy, you are strong and confident and beautiful and will be a capable mother...if...if I can take care of her, me who used to be a blood thirsty, murdering, inhumane, son of a bitch...if I can be...a dad, then there is every possible way, you can be a mom," he said and she just continued to sob, he held her tighter.

She turned in her chair and buried her face in his stomach, he hushed her gently and rubbed her back.

"I love you," he whispered quietly and she sobbed harder and he certainly hoped she was going to be okay, he didn't like her hurting.

After a while she started to calm and he persuaded her back to the bedroom, he laid down with her on the bed and held her until she fell asleep, he would do anything for her and right now holding her was what he felt was all he could do.

"We're getting nice and clean aren't we?"

Riza rubbed her eyes as she walked out of the bedroom and headed towards the voice from the kitchen, she peeked her head in to see Envy standing at the sink holding the baby up while he rubbed her back gently with baby soap.

He was talking to her, his voice soft and sweet, his hand was holding her head and neck gently, she was so small, it was easy for him to do so, his other hand was pouring warm water over her soft skin, and then his fingers wiggled in the water to make the bubbles move around a little.

She walked up behind him, looking at the little girl in her husbands hands, and she wanted to help but not sure if she should.

"A bath?" she asked and Envy turned to look at her smiling softly, he nodded.

"Yeah, she really likes them, look at her, she's watching the bubbles," he said and Riza moved behind him and saw the the baby girl was indeed watching the bubbles, she was doing nothing else however but watching the bubbles.

"Is that normal?" she asked voicing her observations and Envy nodded.

"I was reading some baby books in my free time, right now all she really can do is watch, she'll start interacting later," he said as he grabbed a towel and then put it in Riza's hands then lifted the baby into her arms.

"Here dry her off, I'm going to go get her some clean clothes," he said and Riza blinked then nodded slowly. She looked down at the baby who was nuzzling her, obviously pleased with the contact with her mother. Slowly the corners of her lips turned up and she wrapped the towel around the baby drying her off gently and then just holding her close, swaying back and forth to a soft tune she was humming.

She didn't notice that Envy had returned, holding some of the baby's clothes, leaning against the doorway, watching her.

"You look beautiful," he said smiling at her, she looked up at him, he walked over to the both of them, he leaned over to kiss her lightly on the lips, "You have nothing to worry about, if I can be a dad, you can most certainly be a mom," he repeated and she looked up at him, noting the sincerity in his voice before looking down at the child in her arms. Her vision blurred as tears started to fall down her cheeks, she sniffled as she brought the baby closer to her face and she kissed the soft head, her baby, her little girl.

She was so stupid for thinking those things, she felt herself being pulled into arms and being rocked gently.

"I-I don't know why, it was s-so hard," she said trying to stop the tears and Envy hushed her, holding her close but careful not to hurt the child between them.

"It's normal, you're doing fine," he reassured her and she nodded, holding her baby close, she felt awful, she'd felt like the baby hadn't been hers, but had at the same time, either way, she'd been too dirty to be her mother.

"My baby," she whispered and then felt the arms around her squeeze and she smiled, "Our baby," she corrected and she felt Envy's chest reverberate with his chuckles.

"That's more like it," he said and she felt his lips press to the crown of her head she rested her head on his shoulder and looked at the baby who was once again sleeping.

"I love you, I love you," she said and felt another kiss to her forehead.

"I love you too," he whispered in her ear, his breath ghosting against the shell.

"Are we going to be okay?" she asked and he moved away and cupped her cheek, rubbing it with his thumb.

"I think so, for now, I'm not really looking forward to that whole 'boy' thing for when she's a teenager though," he teased and Riza laughed, she hadn't laughed in a long while and it felt good to do so. Holding her baby in her arms and in the arms of her husband.

She laughed, and it was beautiful.

Hayden was growing up and Envy was amazed by her most simple actions, he had never really experienced that whole 'growing up' thing so he got joy out of everything, while Riza was enjoying it just as much, she found Envy's joy just as fulfilling. Hayden was growing quickly too so they tried to experience as much as they could. She was opening her eyes a lot now blinking, trying to comprehend things, her tiny fists gripped whatever they could. Her feet moved and she wiggled, it was quiet possibly the cutest thing Envy had ever seen and Riza would laugh at him when all he could do was stare at the little girl.

"You're so funny," Riza said leaning down to scoop up the child from her blanket nest, Hayate whined, he liked the baby, she was smaller than him. Riza hushed him gently, and then rocked the baby while Envy pouted.

"What? It's just so...so..." he couldn't find the words and Riza smiled, looking so much better two weeks after she finally got over her fears. She kissed the little blond head and sat on the couch, pulling up her shirt so she could feed the baby.

"Yes, yes," she chuckled and Envy pouted, staring at the blanket that was now blocking the view, she rolled her eyes, "Don't even start," she said and he stuck his tongue out at her, she rolled her eyes again.

"Alright, hungry?" he asked and she nodded, very hungry in fact. "Chicken sound good?" he asked standing and started heading for the kitchen.

"Oooh, with the lemon sauce and some of those vegetables I like?" she asked and Envy laughed.

"I thought cravings were done," he asked and she just smirked at him, "Alright, will do," he agreed and disappeared into the kitchen.

Envy smiled as he started in on the food, this was amazing, he loved being human and having all of these human experiences, having a wife and child, it was incredible, he wouldn't trade anything for it, not even immortality.

He hummed as he started preparing the food, the phone rang and he grabbed it while pulling out some pots, "Hawkeye residence," he answered easily, it had taken him a little while to get used to things, but he was managing.

"Hello Envy," a kind female voice said on the other end.

"Gracia, uh to what do we owe the pleasure?" he asked, trying to remember one of the lines Riza had taught him, Gracia laughed quietly, she knew how hard Envy tried to act human.

"I was just wondering when our next get together should be, I know Elysia is very eager to see the baby again, she must be bigger now," the woman said, and Envy hummed in agreement. Elysia absolutely loved Hayden and she'd only ever seen her once, when she was born, but she asked for updates almost daily.

"Oh she is! She's gotten so big," Envy gushed without thinking, "Her hair is so blond too, like Riza's, and she can hold things and her feet wiggle it-"

"Envy who are you talking to?" Riza called from the living room and then Envy blushed.

"S-sorry Gracia, yeah, we can get together soon," he squeaked and didn't hear a reply except for a quiet in and out of breath it took him awhile to realize that Gracia was muffling her laughter.

"O-oh Envy, I'm sorry but that was just the cutest thing I've heard in a very long time, thank you." she replied and Envy blushed more darkly, glad she couldn't see him.

"Well, I'm still sorry I just kind of went off," he muttered, he couldn't help it, he had help make a cute kid!

"Don't be...it was sweet. It's nice to hear things like that again," she said softly, Envy bit his lip, she was talking about him. Her husband. Of all the people he'd killed it had been Maes Hughes he felt the most guilty about. It definitely had to do with who was involved in his life now, he was sure if he'd fallen for some random person it wouldn't be like this now, but it was probably better the way it was.

"Gracia..." he muttered and she clucked her tongue.

"Not again Envy, you've apologized far too many times, I don't have any anger towards you. I find it takes far too much out of life, out of the future, thinking of the past." she said and Envy sighed.

"If only everyone thought like that..." he said and Gracia sighed.

"Roy will come around, you just have to give him time," she said and Envy snorted.

"Well I'd think half a decade would be enough, but apparently not," he shook his head, "So when did you want to come over?" he asked and he and Gracia agreed on a time, they still had some things to unpack too, Riza had more stuff than she realized, Gracia would probably be able to help sort it all out.

He went back into the living room while the food was cooking and flopped on the couch, taking the baby from Riza, she was done feeding now and needed burping.

"It was Gracia," he replied, putting a blanket on his shoulder and rested the baby up on it to start rubbing her back.

"Oh, she and Elysia want to come over huh?" she asked smiling, it would be nice to see them again, it had been almost a month since the little family had seen anyone. Riza hadn't wanted to see anyone, and Envy didn't really know anyone and he was more concerned about the baby and Riza to go see people.

"Yup, I invited them over for lunch tomorrow," he said and Riza nodded, then she leaned against Envy's free shoulder and sighed, though it was a happy sigh.

"It'll be nice to see them again...maybe we should invite the others over too...?" she wondered and Envy made a sound in the back of his throat.

"I'd rather not have the Fuhrer know where exactly it is I sleep, thanks," he said sardonically, Riza poked him in the side, "What? You know he's plotting my death," he grumbled and Riza snorted but cuddled closer to him almost possessively. No one hurt her family and didn't get shot for it, not even the Fuhrer.

"Don't worry, he won't do anything, but I think we should have a little party, no one else has come by, they need to see the baby again," she said, and Envy grinned.

"You want to show her off," he said and Riza grinned just as the baby burped.

"Who wouldn't want to see that?" she laughed, Envy shook his head and wiped Hayden's face gently.

"You're adorable, don't let anyone tell you otherwise," he told her and she only waved her limbs in response.

"Do you have everything?" Riza asked coming out of the bathroom, staring at her husband in amusement who had two bags on his shoulders and another on the stroller. Hayden was in his arms, burbling happily trying to grab a teddy from one of the bags.

"Well...we're only going to be gone for a few hours..." Envy said and Riza only laughed, she grabbed the bags and riffled through them, taking out only what they really needed and put them in one bag on the stroller.

"Okay, ready to go, Elicia and Gracia were going to meet us at the park," she said Envy nodded, he grabbed the bear for Hayden who was starting to whine for it.

"How are we going to lure them here? I was going to make Gracia that chicken pasta dish that makes your mouth water," he said and then grinned when Riza glared at him, just the mention of it had made her stomach rumble.

"We'll figure something out," she said grabbing the stroller and taking it out the door, Envy locked the door and they headed down the stairs, once they reached a non bumpy surface, Envy set the baby in her carriage, he took the bear and made it kiss her a few times before setting it down next to her and taking the stroller handles.

"Alright then, shall we?" he asked and received a smile and a nod in return, Riza looped her arm through his and they walked to the park, Envy was a bit mystified by how many people would randomly walk up to the coo at Hayden and then call them the cutest family they had ever seen, Riza had replied, thank the gate, but he was still brooding about it once they reached the park.

"BABY!" a high squeal flew at them and Elicia Hughes materialized next to the stroller and looked into the carriage, "Awwwwww, she's so sweet!"

"Hello, Elicia," Riza greeted smiling fondly at t he child, Gracia walked over a few yards behind her daughter. "Hello Gracia," she greeted when the woman was near them.

"Hello Riza, Envy," Gracia smiled at them both, Riza smiled back with ease, Envy tried but it looked more like he had to sneeze.

"Hi, Hayden," Elysia cooed at the baby offering her a finger to hold, she squealed happily when Hayden held onto it.

"She likes you," Envy smiled bending down and started talking to Elysia, Gracia and Riza shared grins.

"So how are things going?" Gracia asked Riza as they started walking around the park.

"I think they're going good, Envy has been doing wonderfully," she said smiling.

((STORY SPLIT!))

Envy hummed as he worked in the kitchen doing the dishes, Hayden was sitting in her high chair, playing with a bowl as he worked, he grinned over at her she had the bowl in her mouth but dropped it when he grinned at her she bubbled at him happily and reached out to him. He dried off his hands and picked her up, holding her to his chest and kissed the top of her head.

"You are just too damn cute, you know that?" he cooed at her and she cooed back reacting to his tone, he laughed and kissed her little blond head again.

"Let's go get you ready for bed, mama is going to be home soon, she's going to want to say goodnight," he said softly, he set her on his hip and headed for the little girl's nursery. He would put her in the little pink footsie pajamas Riza loved so much, they were soft and warm and she pulled the little girl to her chest and held her close until she fell asleep. He loved seeing the two of them cuddle, it was darling. He rolled his eyes at himself, since when did he get so soft? Oh right since he became a father, who knew? He was halfway down the hall when a sudden jolt rocked the house and he was thrown against the wall. He gasped, careful not to hurt the baby who cried out in alarm she sniffled and started to mewl. He calmed her down quietly and looked to the front door where the shock to the house had originated from. He did not like what he saw.

"Sloth..." he breathed, slowly his eyes widened at the sight of his, for lack of a better term, brother. Sloth was gone, he was dead, how could this be? And more importantly what the hell was he doing here?

"...bring...Envy...said so...troublesome..." the giant moaned sadly, Envy moved as quickly and quietly as he could to the baby's room he set her in her crib and rubbed her head gently.

"Stay here sweetie, be quiet. Daddy will be right back," he whispered but saw that bottom lip start to tremble, Hayden didn't like being alone she was a clingy little thing, it was absolutely adorable, albeit a bit tiresome at times.

Envy put his finger to his lip, "Shhh, it's okay, baby," he said and then slowly closed the door moving towards the living room as the house gave another violent lurch, Envy steadied himself on the wall, he heard a desperate wail from the bedroom behind him, Sloth had better stop doing that, if the house came down on his daughter, Daddy would be pissed.

"Sloth!" he finally shouted getting the giant's attention, "What are you doing here?" he demanded, trying to use that cocky, arrogant, superiority complex type attitude he'd finally grown out of.

"Envy..." Sloth sighed, "Bring...back...Envy..."

"To who Sloth? Who?" he demanded. He frowned, who could possibly want Sloth to bring him in? No one could control Sloth except one person, but he was dead! But Sloth was supposed to be dead... No it couldn't possibly...

He inhaled sharply and glared at Sloth, even more determined to get him out of the house. Luckily, he was in pretty good shape. After he'd discovered that annoying human tendency of getting pudgy if you don't exercise, being the vain bastard he was, he'd gone jogging every morning for the past several months and even started lifting weights at the military gym, and if not for his own satisfaction it was nice when Riza would try to slap his ass in appreciation.

He ran past Sloth, luckily the big dolt was still half asleep and Envy made it outside, but his victory was short lived, suddenly the air right next to Envy turned into a vacuum as Sloth shot past him, missing him barely.

"Shit!" he breathed, stumbling a bit from the suction it caused, "Sloth, aren't you tired?" he asked, trying not to pant after all of the air in his lungs had been sucked out.

"Tired...must...bring...Envy..." Sloth groaned, then swiped a large hand at him, Envy swore as he narrowly dodged again. There was no way, Sloth would do exactly as he was told until he finished his job, the one that...He had assigned him.

Envy was looking for a way out of this when Sloth charged at him again, Envy wasn't fast enough this time and only got half way out of the way when Sloth hit him, sending him flying. Envy slammed into the neighbors rock garden wall.

He slumped to the ground and groaned, he couldn't see straight and his back and ribs were killing him, being human really was an adventure. Or in this case, a pain, being a human was awful!

"Bring...Envy..." Sloth lumbered over and picked him up with one of his big hands, Envy cried out in pain as his ribs were jarred, this wasn't fair, he couldn't even fight back, he had a pistol, sure, but those were useless against Sloth.

Envy saw in his peripheral the front of his house as he was being carried away; the door smashed in, the windows broken and the walls splintered. The couches Riza had fallen in love with were now ruined too, the front of the house looked awful, but the back of the house still stood. It was terrible. But that wasn't what was the worst thing, it was the wailing that was coming from the back room, the cries for Daddy. That was the last thing he heard before he passed out, trying desperately to get back to his baby girl.

"Wake up."

Envy snapped back into the world as the deep voiced echoed, and then the pain came, following shortly after, he used all of his will power not to cry out like a child. He never had liked getting hurt, and it amused him to no end when Riza would 'kiss his booboos' better, though of course that usually ended with them both in bed, but it was still funny, and she liked to make fun of him for it, but what did he care? He was getting laid.

That was a nice memory to relive, but it was a short one as the pain throbbed harder than ever, reminding him that he was not home right now, Riza was not taking care of him.

"You've disappointed me, my child," the deep voice said again, Envy opened his eyes slowly, not really wanting to see the speaker. But there he was, standing by his rebuilt throne staring down at him condescendingly. "To lower yourself to a human..." his eyes flashed but then he sighed, "But I will forgive you, you were misguided. From today on, you will be among your siblings again to help serve me." The man gave off an air of superiority and cold heartlessness, it sent shivers down Envy's spine. "Be grateful, you no longer have to worry about your old life."

"N-no...I like my life! I-I-" He struggled to come up with something that would save him, "This is the way you made me! I was always envious of humans! Now I get to live it!" he tried to get up but was in too much pain, "I finally have what I want...and you're going to take it away?" he was close to begging, but of course nothing reached those cold gold eyes.

"Envy, that is still your name. It is clearly something you have failed to understand. I did not make you envious, that is what you are. You are my envy. You never had a choice to begin with, and like me, you do not belong among mortals."

Envy shook his head in denial, "No...no if I'm your envy...then you should understand...you should understand why I want to stay! Why don't you understand?!" he cried, he was in so much pain and this whole scenario was surreal, he wanted to be home with Riza and his baby girl. Where he was loved.

"All of these human emotions have gone to your head," the man replied, seeing the wild look in Envy's eyes, "I will be sure to make you remember what is important," suddenly he placed his fingertips on Envy's forehead.

"Wh-what are you going to do?" he whispered in fear, panic growing inside of him. Riza...Hayden, would he ever see them again?

"Your body is still the same, your core is still that of envy. I have been making philosopher's stones I can use it to return you to your right form, none of these useless feeling will remain." Father said, the way he said it gave no leeway to any other option.

"No! Please! I'll serve you again! But please don't make me go back!" Envy cried, his eyes wide with panic, he couldn't be that cold killer again! "Please Father!"

"Hush now, it will be over soon," the man said monotonously, his power pulsed and a liquid red stone dripped from his finger and pooled on Envy's forehead, it stalled for a moment and then with Father's prompting seeped into his pale skin.

At first nothing happened and then Envy's eyes widened, flashed purple and he started screaming.

Red sparks erupted all over his body as he convulsed, he was in no danger of dying as he was perfectly compatible with the stone, but that didn't lessen the pain any. His ribs were repaired and then broken a few dozen times, and just as he felt like dying would be a much better way for this to end, the pain increased and he could feel the anger, hate, loathing, murderous rage, jealousy and envy that had made him what he was come rushing back, he cried out in despair and tried to fight it back he had to for Riza, for Hayden! But his humanity was weak in his pain and he was enveloped, wrapped in a thick curtain of his former self, his other self blacked out unable to stall any longer and with one final scream he was gone.

His eyes fluttered shut while his body settled on it's form, malleable and androgynous, one final spark flew around him before dying and all was quiet.

"Envy," Father said and red eyes snapped open. Slowly a smirk formed on the wide mouth and he sat up.

"What can I do to serve you, Father?" he asked, his eyes flashing with deadly curiosity. Envy was back and he was ready for some bloodshed.

Ed was wrong, he had to be wrong, there was no way he'd do something as ridiculous as get a family, that was just...idiotic, that stupid shrimp, he was just trying to get under his skin. But still there was something in him telling him that he had to check it out.

He came to a house...he wasn't sure what made him come to this house it looked to be under construction, but something was telling him to go inside.

He did, but he made sure no one was watching, Pride couldn't know about his little field trip. He slipped in through a window and ended up in the kitchen, no big deal, but it did feel familiar. No of course it didn't. That was ridiculous, he'd never been here before. He scoffed and walked over to the living room, it was in the process of being re built and most of it was covered in plastic, nothing important. There wasn't anything here he needed to worry about, Ed was being difficult. He nodded as he walked into another room but froze, no there was something very familiar about this room.

Leaves on the vine falling so slow,

Like fragile, tiny shells drifting in the foam,

Little soldier boy, come marching home,

Brave soldier boy, comes marching home.

((END SPLIT!))

The door creaked open and a little blond head peaked into her parents' bedroom, her little pigtails sagging from the long day and restless sleep, she clutched onto her stuffed teddy and blinked owlishly at the unmoving forms on the bed.

"Mommy?" she asked hesitantly looking at the narrow beam of light touching the bed, she knew mommy had had a long day and was very tired, but she had had a bad dream and needed to see her. She tried not to sniffle as one of the lumps turned and looked at her bleary eyed.

"What's the matter, baby?" her daddy asked tiredly his voice husky from sleep, she took a step towards the bed.

"Had a bad dream," she said her bottom lip wobbling, the man blinked then nodded and a hand slipped out from under the covers.

"Come here," he said and she hurried over, he grabbed her around the waist and brought her onto the bed, he pulled the covers down and then put her between himself and his wife, she snuggled down as he pulled the covers over her, she clung to her teddy and then sighed happily as her father laid an arm on her mother's waist, keeping her in a safe cage of sorts.

She wasn't around her daddy too much, he was always at work and usually came home very late, but she knew every morning before he left he would kiss her forehead and wish her a good day, and even though she was nearly five now, he still called her his baby.

She was with mommy most of the time, and she loved her mommy very very much but she loved her daddy too and she wanted to see him more. She cuddled closer to him and grabbed onto his night shirt, she felt a gentle hand pet at her hair and a kiss placed to her forehead.

"I love you daddy," she whispered and he hugged her close to his chest.

"I love you too baby girl, sweet dreams," he said quietly and she sighed and fell asleep to the gentle fingers petting her hair, she loved her daddy so much.

When Riza awoke she was surprised to find her daughter curled up between herself and Envy, she smiled at the sight of his arm curled around the small child, it was so cute. She smiled and then reached over and let her fingers slide over his face, his eyes fluttered for a moment before they opened and took her in.

"Good morning," she said and he blinked, stifled a yawn then smiled lazily at her, he reached over their daughter to take a lock of her hair in his fingers, playing with the strands, she knew why he'd been so upset she'd cut her hair, now that she tended to wake up to him playing with it.

"Good morning yourself," he replied and then he noticed the fact that they were all still in bed and he was in fact going to be late for work, he swore in Drachmanian and got out of bed careful not to upset the still trying to sleep child.

"What's the matter?" she asked and he gave her a look and pointed at the clock, it was 7:06 he had less than thirty minutes to get to work on time.

"Oh I'm sure it's okay, you know he doesn't get in until 8:30 most days," Riza said and Envy snorted.

"Oh I'm perfectly aware of when he gets in, but the fact that he has turned half of the damn country against me means that anyone will try to find fault with me just so I get fired," he grumbled and Riza sighed, she knew Roy still had a few problems with Envy, and she tried everything to get them to get along, but Roy just wouldn't have it, he was almost as stubborn as Edward.

"I'm sure things will get better once he finds someone to settle down with," she said and Envy shrugged as he yanked off his pajama top and headed to the bathroom.

"Yeah, he'll want some young thing, but the man's not getting any younger, he's pushing forty the only kind of women who want that are gold diggers, and you'd shoot them," he said she shrugged, couldn't really deny that last bit. "Besides we both know who he really wants," he said shooting his wife of six years a look, "And they call me the embodiment of jealousy," he grumbled right before the door closed. Riza sighed and got out of bed, then turned to their sleeping daughter and smiled, the little girl was awake but drowsy, she yawned and clutched tightly to her bear.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," she said and then chuckled at the state of her child's hair, the girl pouted and she leaned over the bed then wrapped her arms around the girl and hugged her tight.

"Mommy, is daddy hurting?" she asked out of the blue, and Riza pulled her back as she started walking to the child's room so she could get her ready for school.

"Why do you ask, sweetie?" she asked curiously, and the little girl held her bear closer to her.

"He was sad," she said and Riza smiled, she was such a compassionate little girl, Riza was sure she'd gotten it from her father, she set the girl down on the bed and kissed her forehead.

"He's fine, sweetheart, daddy just likes to complain from time to time," she said with a bit of a grin.

"Hey I resent that," the man said from the doorway, drying his hair with a towel, he was already in uniform, he smiled at the pair of them. Then he walked over to the bed and pat her head, then kneeled down.

"Daddy is silly sometimes, it'll happen to you too eventually so don't you dare laugh, squirt," he said and ran his fingers up her sides, tickling her, making the little girl collapse in giggles. Once he was done she threw her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.

"Love you daddy, have a good day at work," she said and Envy laughed and hugged her back picking her up and holding her tight.

"Love you too baby girl," he said then handed the girl over to his wife who he pecked on the lips, "If you could bring me some breakfast I'd be eternally grateful," he smiled, teeth showing and everything and the blond woman laughed and then kissed him back.

"Alright, I will, see you in a bit," he smiled and then kissed them both once more before leaving the room and tossing the towel in the bathroom, he pulled and tied his hair back and then ran out the door, this whole working thing sucked, but it was productive and was something to do so he really couldn't complain, about the work anyway.

"Mommy, when can daddy stay home with me?" the little girl asked as her mother went through her dresser to find her some clothes.

"I don't know if he'll be able to do that but would you want Daddy to take you to school sometime?" the woman smiled as the girl took off her dirty clothes and took the clean ones her mother offered.

"Yeah!" she said happily and Riza smiled, sat on the bed and grabbed the hairbrush on the nightstand, the little girl turned around used to this routine. "And then I can show him my bean! It already has leaves!" she said enthusiastically and Riza laughed.

"I'm sure he'd like that very much," she said and the little girl wiggled in happiness but stilled after her pig tails were taken out and felt the brush running through her hair.

Riza smiled as she let the bristles of the brush untangle the fine hair, she was so proud of her daughter, she was sweet and compassionate and very smart. Much like the man she now called her husband, even though he denied every accusation, he was also stubborn and possessive and naturally very jealous, but he hid it well. It was really cute, and she was happy, and she knew he was, they only had one problem and that was Roy, but neither of them could think of anything to do about it.

"Mommy, can I visit daddy at work?" the little girl asked out of the blue, and Riza blinked then raised an eyebrow, then she grinned.

"Sure you can baby, we can go after school," she said feeling just a bit evil, Roy couldn't do anything dastardly while the child was around he was too fond of her despite who her father was. The little girl clapped her hands together.

"I can make daddy something in art class!" she said excitedly, and Riza laughed, she could see Envy's 'wtf?' face now and then he would go pink and then make sure no one was looking before he gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead. Riza laughed, he was so cute sometimes.

"That sounds like a brilliant idea sweetheart. Alright time for breakfast," she said and the little girl nodded, then followed her mother down to the kitchen.

Riza got her daughter set up with some toast and milk before going upstairs and getting herself ready for the day, she was showered and in uniform in less than ten minutes, then back downstairs to give the little girl a napkin to wipe her face and then put the dirty plate in the sink, she made a lunch for the girl then they went to the door, the little girl grabbed her little pink backpack and her mother gave her her princess lunchbox, then they were out the door and walking down the street, the little girl's hand in her mother's as she talked her little mouth off.

The teacher smiled at Riza as they walked in Riza nodded to her and followed the girl to her cubbie, Riza kneeled down and gave her daughter a kiss and a hug before wishing her a good day.

"You too Mommy!" the little girl chirped and Riza smiled then waved goodbye and headed for a nearby bakery to pick something up for Envy and herself for breakfast.

"Aaah you're amazing you do know that right?" Envy said after he wolfed down the pastries, Riza grinned at him.

"So you've told me," she replied and he rolled his eyes before moving around his desk and put an arm at her waist.

"And so modest too, I really hit the jackpot with you," he teased and she rolled her eyes, but stepped closer to him anyway.

"Don't forget I know where you sleep," she grumbled and he grinned cheekily at her before pulling her close and kissing her in a way that he never would if their child was around, unfortunately the door decided to open just at that moment, allowing the entrance of the Fuhrer.

"Where are-" Roy started in an irritated way before he stopped and his face darkened at the sight of them, Riza stepped back, but not so far to make it look like she was embarrassed, but just so it wasn't indecent, Envy turned around and grabbed a few files from his desk then walked forward and shoved them at Roy.

"The reports on the Williamson and Fredrick case as well as the weaponry reports, sir," he said and Roy snatched them with a scowl, he never caught Envy off guard which pissed him off to no end.

"Don't get distracted," he snapped before turning around crisply and then slammed the door closed behind himself. Envy scowled at the closed door before turning back around and then assaulted his wife with a tight hug.

"It's been over six years why can't he just get over it," he grumbled into her shoulder, and Riza sighed and hugged him back, she knew it bothered him. He was very sensitive to what other people thought of him, especially people who she respected and called her friends.

"I don't know, but I'm sure he'll grow up eventually." she said and he laughed before squeezing her tightly then pecking her on the cheek.

"Alright I'll talk to you later, I have more paper pushing to do," he sighed and she smiled then pecked him back before leaving the office closing the door gently. She sighed, it was a trying situation and she had a feeling that it would be solved after it blew up, it was bound to happen, no matter how much she dreaded it. She sighed again then went back to her own office to start her own work day.

"Daddy!" Envy turned around and then grunted as a small form charged into his legs and then bounced off. He looked down to see his daughter beaming up at him, too happy to care that she had fallen on her rump.

"Well hello," he chuckled and then bent down to pick her up, "And what are you doing here?" he asked putting her on his hip as he stood.

"We're visiting!" the little girl chirped and her mother chuckled as she finally caught up to them, she leaned over and kissed Envy on the cheek, she wasn't on duty right now so it was okay, not like it bothered them, then she pet the little girl's hair.

"She has a present for you," she said smirking, and he looked at her his eyebrows raised and she simply smiled.

"Oh do you?" he asked looking down at the little girl who nodded happily.

"Here, Daddy!" she said and then shoved something in his face, he took it and then actually got to look at it, it was a popsiclestick picture frame with a picture of Riza and Hayden, he smiled and then hugged her close.

"Thank you, baby girl," he said and then kissed her head, she giggled and then hugged his neck tightly.

"Welcome Daddy," she returned and then set her head on his shoulder, enjoying the contact she was having with him.

"Let's go back to my office, I'll find the perfect place for it, sound like a good idea?" he asked and she nodded, Riza laughed and took his free hand.

The family went to Envy's office and he sat at his desk with his little girl in his lap the both of them were trying to figure out where to put the new picture.

"Where the hell are those files-" the door was slammed open and the Fuhrer barged into Envy's office as he was prone to do, but this time he froze, he face softening at the sight of the child on Envy's lap.

"Uncle Roy!" the little girl waved at the man excitedly but was glued to her father's lap, unwilling to part from him.

"Hayden, what are you doing here?" the man asked obviously experiencing a moment of dimwittedness.

"Visiting Daddy!" she chirped happily wiggling her butt on Envy's lap happily, Envy tried his hardest not to laugh.

"D-da..." he looked up at Envy and his eyes went ice cold, then he looked back at the little girl, then he whipped around and left.

"What did I do?" the little girl asked sounding hurt and Envy pulled her close and kissed the top of her head.

"Nothing, baby, he's just having a bad day," he lied, the little girl looked up at her father and then nodded slowly then leaned her head against his chest, sighing happily. Envy's hand came to rest on her head. It was a pity the man couldn't put aside his jealousy even for the child of his love interest, even if the child wasn't his.

Roy was pacing like a maniac in Gracia Hughes' living room, Elysia was watching him move back and forth, wondering why he was so upset, Uncle Roy was usually so calm.

"I just can't believe this," he finally said after fifteen minutes of pacing, Gracia sat in an armchair calmly, she knew it was coming she was just surprised it had taken so long. "It's not right."

Gracia sighed, Roy hadn't been happy since Riza had married Envy, he had gone almost reclusive after they announced Hayden was going to be coming. Now she was born, about four months old and doing very well.

"You mean you can't accept it," Gracia replied, and Roy threw his hands up.

"Of course I can't accept it, this whole ordeal is wrong! There's just nothing okay about this, that thing shouldn't be allowed to have children! Let alone with Riza," he snarled and Gracia sighed.

"Elysia honey, who don't you go see if Louisa can play?" she said softly to her daughter, Elysia nodded, knowing this was above her, she would go have a tea party with her friend instead.

"Roy..." Gracia started and Roy turned around, a stubborn look on his face, he had heard Maes use that tone too often, so this was where he'd learned it.

"What is so wrong about it?" she asked slowly and he crossed his arms.

"What's wrong is this is the thing that killed Maes -a capable father and good man! He has no right pretending to be human when he never was one to start with," he snapped.

"Have you ever seen Envy with Hayden? He's a very capable father himself," Gracia said, having spent so much time with them could gave her a good judge of Envy's character. He was a good person now, she believed he'd changed.

"Oh please, he was created to be an actor, this whole thing is an act!" he declared and Gracia had to stop herself from groaning, this man was impossible, and she'd been married to Maes.

"What would he get out of acting like a good husband and a good father?" she asked, "The answer is happiness, Roy, he is happy, and I think that's all he wants."

"Oh please!" he barked a bitter laugh, "He's doing this to try and get the better of me!"

"Roy!" Gracia snapped, finally at her wits end, "Do you know what you sound like?" she asked, crossing her arms, "Like a little boy who got his toy taken away! Honestly, if you really loved Riza you would be happy for her, you would be overjoyed that she found someone that makes her happy. You're acting nothing like a man in love, you're acting like a man possessed, and it worries me that you run this country and you can't let this go."

There was a long moment of silence, "Is this how you feel?" He asked calmly and Gracia nodded slowly, unsure of how he was going to react.

Envy sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, he hated testing new recruits it was a right pain in his ass, but they kept dieing which was even worse. He was the head of the secret assassins group for the military, undercover as the Fuhrer's secretary and doubling as his body guard but his main concern was the group of men trained to be secret killers. A group so secret it didn't even have a name, but apparently he was the only one who could get the job done right, probably all that experience he had. He sighed, sending men off to their deaths was really a downer, he hated doing it and he hated having to train people to take their place once they died.

He was almost positive Mustang was doing this on purpose, sure he'd been letting up, he probably realized that being jealous and pining for something lost for the rest of his life was a lost cause and a complete waste, so he wasn't an ass, but they weren't exactly friends. He doubted they would be, but at least things were better.

He smiled looking at the picture on his desk, Hayden and Riza along with Hayate, Hayden was holding the dog and grinning madly while Riza held her daughter laughter clear in her eyes. He'd taken the picture after Hayden had demanded it, she wanted lots of pictures of her with lots of things, that picture was now his favorite. Eight years old and already she knew what she wanted in the world, she said she was going to be an actress and star in lots of movies so Daddy could see her as often as he wanted.

He chuckled and shook his head, that girl sure was something, and he loved her more than anything else in the world, the smiles she brought to Riza and himself were something that could have no comparison. He couldn't believe that nearly ten years ago he'd been a crazed anti-human killing machine working for an even more crazed mad-man trying to turn everyone into a philosopher's stone. He honestly knew that this was so much better, no comparison really.

"Sir?" Envy looked over to see a panting private at his door he raised his eyebrows at him, telling him to speak or leave, he was tired after all.

"Sir, we just received a phone call," he said and Envy gave him a blank stare in response, he was too tired to give the man a scathing comment, who, seeing the annoyance in the man's eyes, continued hurriedly.

"Well, um...you see...there's been...an...um-" he stumbled and Envy was losing his patience he slammed a hand on his desk.

"Out with it Private! I'm not going to sit around all night listening to you stutter!" He snapped and the Private nodded and snapped into attention.

"Sir, excuse me, Sir!" he said then took in a deep breath, "Sir, at precisely 22:00 a call was made to the office of Warrant Officer Steven Feldman, head of civilian communication, the call stated a time and place for a ransom to be placed in exchange for the safe return of an officer and a civilian, I was then issued with the message to relay to you, Sir!" he finished and Envy blinked at him.

"Okaaay, why are you relaying it to me?" he asked, he knew he was a little slow because he was tired, but civilian issues didn't concern him.

"Sir, the Officer and civilian...they were your wife and daughter," he said and Envy froze and felt his whole world shift and freeze for a moment.

He didn't think he was frozen for that long but then he was up and out of the chair and headed straight for the Fuhrer's office, the man wasn't as lazy as he once was, but had to stay late to keep up anyway.

"Mustang!" He shouted and the man looked up at him in shock, Envy never came running into his office like a man possessed.

"What?" he asked sounding as shocked as he was feeling, but taking in the other male who seemed frantic and very close to losing it, he was also concerned.

"They're gone, someone has taken them from me!" he shouted and Roy knew only one thing that would make Envy lose it. Riza and Hayden.

"Alright calm down, give me all the details," and Envy merely shook his head, he either didn't know or couldn't answer due to his anxiety. Roy picked up his phone and called down the communications officer and told him to bring the details of the call.

"Warrant Officer, debrief me on the situation at hand," he demanded after the man had saluted, he sat at his desk while Envy stared at the man.

"Sir, the call was place at precisely 22:00 by an unknown party, they clearly stated that a ransom of 5,000,000 cenz to the corner of Main street and 22nd street. They gave no specifications as to who was to bring it, just a soldier and if the ransom is not carried out by noon tomorrow Colonel Hawkeye and her daughter would die, Sir." he said and Roy saw Envy's hands tighten considerably making the already pale male's fists go white.

"Get Major Fury to track and find where the call was placed," he said and the man nodded.

"Already been done, Sir, he tracked it to a pay phone outside of an abandoned church six blocks from the meeting place," he replied and Roy nodded.

"Has the church been checked out?" he asked and the soldier shook his head.

"Not yet Sir, a unit has been sent out to do so," and Roy nodded again, things were playing out as they should in these cases. And he was sure Envy knew that but the man was obviously shaken enough to come to him of all people.

"Bring them to me as soon as they return," he said and the man saluted and left, Envy watched as the man closed the door before taking in a deep breath trying to calm himself, but his hands went to his face as his resolve broke and he started to shake and breath hard, if he didn't have pride he would have cried too but, nothing would make him tear up in front of Mustang.

"Hey, they'll be okay," Roy tried to reassure him but really was at a loss, he'd never seen the other male look like this, ever.

"I should have known, they didn't call, I should have known something was wrong," he whispered and Roy frowned but then remembered everyday at exactly 6:30 Riza and Hayden would call Envy while he was still working, to see if he would be home for dinner or not. He couldn't believe how hard Envy was taking this, he never thought he really cared for his family that much, how could he? He'd never had one before he'd never been in the position to learn how to be a parent.

"I can't lose them, they're all I have," he whispered and gripped his face, leaving red marks, Roy's eyes widened, he really hadn't been expecting that.

"This is not your fault," he said and Envy looked up, he still wasn't crying but his eyes were swimming in doubt and pain.

"How do you know? I have many enemies they may want to hurt me," he said and Roy shook his head.

"That may be true but if it were so for this case then why didn't they mention you by name?" he asked and Envy's mouth turned down.

"If all they wanted was money from the military, why did they take Hayden?" he asked back and Roy twitched that was a valid point.

"We won't know until we've stopped them," he said and luckily just then a knock sounded on the door, Roy granted them entrance and a Lieutenant came in and saluted.

"Sir! It has been confirmed that the Colonel and child are being held in the basement of the church Sir, what are your follow up orders, my men are still deployed outside the church to report any changes," he said and Roy nodded.

"Good work, Lieutenant, get them out, no casualties today," he said and Envy immediately took a step forward.

"I'm going too," he said and before Roy could protest, "I have to be there to see them come back to safety myself!" he demanded and Roy knew either way Envy would go so he nodded and Envy left with the lieutenant.

Envy had all three of his guns on him and then two more extra the rescue team had given him, they knew he was a Hawkeye so naturally he was a sharpshooter and a good one at that so he was given a sniper rifle, they were going to take out the ones patrolling the outside of the church before moving in.

He was almost too anxious and impatient to wait for the signal, but he did and once it was given, three men were down within ten seconds, no one was going to get away with taking his family away.

Clearing the outside was easy it was taking out the people on the inside that would be difficult, if they even got a whiff of the rescue team the hostages would be killed. Envy cocked the pistol he had and then turned to the man giving orders.

"I'm going in alone," he said and the man blinked and gaped at him before protesting.

"But sir there-" he started but Envy shut him up with a glare.

"I'm going in alone," he stated again and then turned around, "I'll give you a signal when I'm done." he said and then disappeared through one of the entrances, one of the other soldiers looked at the commanding officer.

"Sir, what do we do?" he asked and the man shook his head and sighed.

"Nothing we can do, he's already disrupted the plan," His eyes looked where Envy had left, "That is a man desperate not to be alone, he's probably doing this just as much for himself as he is his family." He said and the other soldier nodded, but still didn't fully understand.

Envy walked over the body of the man who had almost caught him by surprise, but he had been faster, and that was all that mattered, in moments like these the strongest and fastest won and the weak and slow lost, he was not weak nor was he slow, he would not lose.

He came to another corner and listened for footsteps, it was clear, he kept his gun in front of him as he came around and then went to the room, he looked in the room, clear, there obviously weren't very many kidnappers except for the four outside and two in here there were only six so far, not that many at all. He went down the stairs and heard talking, there was a door at the bottom and two men were talking to each other, their backs to him. It was easy enough to knock one out with the butt of his gun and then grab the other one before he could turn around and pinch a nerve in his neck. Eight, there couldn't have been too many more.

He checked all the rooms at the bottom but they were all either locked or empty so he moved on until he came to the reception hall, it wasn't that big but it was fairly open, no where to hide but that meant he could see it all from the doorway. His eyes found the center of the room where Riza and Hayden were, it looked like they were only worried about Riza because she was tied up, Hayden was too shaken up to do anything but cling to her mother so they hadn't bothered tying her up.

There were two men in the room one of which was standing by Riza and Hayden, he was obviously the leader since he had the gun and looked totally nonchalant about having it near a child and there was another man in the far corner. He had to think for a moment, he couldn't shoot one and then shoot the other there was too much of a chance that one of them would shoot at his family, so instead he backed away and decided to bring one of them out there. It was easy enough he found a chair nearby and dropped it, it made a loud thud that had the leader telling the other man to go check it out. Envy had hid behind a corner and pounced the moment the man came into view, he slumped to the ground from the force of the butt of the gun hitting his face.

Envy went back to the door and saw the other man had his back turned to the door, it was easy enough to walk over to him and raise the gun to his head.

"Hands up, drop the gun," he snapped and the man turned around and looked surprised at first and then grinned.

"Oh my, what is this? Aren't you a cocky one?" the man chuckled but dropped his gun, Envy didn't pay any mind to the man's words and looked down quickly at Hayden and Riza who both looked relieved.

"Hayden untie your mother," he said and the little girl, feeling much better now that her daddy was there quickly got to the knots that bound her mother on the ground.

"You came alone? That was pretty conceited of you," the man scoffed and Envy turned his burning gaze to him.

"If I were you I'd shut up. You are seconds away from getting a mouthful of lead," he hissed, the man obviously didn't realize he was very pissed off.

In response all the man did was laugh and then there was a click, and Envy turned. There had been another man in the room, he hadn't seen him from the door, he'd been behind a corner but now had a gun pointed at his head.

He simply blinked, and then smirked, a hand was on his ankle taking the gun from the holster there, and then the man was howling in pain as a bullet went through his foot. He looked down to see Riza glaring at the man who was now on the ground rolling around from the pain. Envy looked back at the other man and then froze.

He'd taken the time for the other man to get shot to reach down and grab his own gun, but in the process had also grabbed Hayden, he smirked triumphantly.

"Now I know I said I'd kill them if anyone tried to rescue them and you have been very valiant, so I'll give you another chance-" the man had obviously thought he still had a chance, but the moment there was a gun to his daughter's head Envy lost it, and he knew humans could only focus on one thing at a time so when he'd started talking Envy knew he could take him out with a single shot.

"No one points a gun at my daughter," he said as the man fell, he was already dead, the bullet to his head had killed him instantly, and then Envy grabbed his daughter and held her close, Riza was up and taken in the embrace as well. He'd come so close to losing them, he couldn't bear for it if he really had.

"Daddy!" the girl cried before she burst into tears and clutched at the man's uniform, he held her close with an arm around her shoulders and then had Riza with an arm around her waist.

"Envy," the woman breathed and then pulled back with a wary smile, "What took you so long?" she asked and Envy gave a watery laugh as he grabbed Hayden and lifted her up to carry her out.

"Paperwork," he replied and Riza smiled before leaning over and kissing him on the cheek and then running her hand over the blond head on her husbands shoulder.

"Let's get out of here," he said and they walked out together, the other soldiers came in to clean things up once they stepped out and Envy gave a run down of what happened, the soldiers told him that the fuhrer wanted a report directly from him so he had to return to HQ but sent Riza and Hayden home even though the child was reluctant to let him go, but easily attached to her mother.

Envy sighed as he walked to the fuhrer, his hands were shaking, the adrenaline was leaving his body, but he was ignoring it. He wanted to be with his wife and child.

"Sir," he said and saluted when he entered and Roy looked up his eyebrow raised, "No casualties, the Colonel and civilian are safe, the leader of the kidnappers is dead." he reported Roy nodded then looked down at the remainders of papers on his desk.

"Thank you, you are dismissed for the day," he said and Envy nodded and turned for the door but Mustang spoke again, "Oh and you and Riza have the day off tomorrow, use it however you wish," he said and Envy blinked at him in shock before nodding his head and leaving and heading home.

He felt immense relief when he walked into his house, he saw that there had been signs of a struggle, of course Riza hadn't gone down without a very fierce fight, but it looked like she had cleaned up a little bit before he'd returned, he was glad she had.

He trudged up the stairs and went to where he heard gentle voices, they were in Hayden's room, he exhaled as he opened the door and then walked in they both looked up at him.

"Daddy!" the little girl cried happily, she didn't want to be separated from either of her parents at the moment.

"Envy," Riza said obviously seeing the look on his face, he shook his head and then kneeled down and wrapped an arm around each one, his girls, he held them close.

He felt them wrap their arms around him too, and felt his heart finally unclench and tried his hardest not to cry in relief. His daughter seemed to get this and started crying herself, she had known how serious and dangerous the situation had been but couldn't do anything about it, she didn't like feeling so helpless, she was very much like her mother in that respect.

Riza knew how hard Envy had taken this, she knew how much the man relied on the both of them, she was sure he would have fallen into a depression if she and Hayden had been taken permanently from him, but she was happy he hadn't had to go through that, but was still sorry he'd had to have a glimpse of that feeling and hugged him tightly.

Eventually Hayden fell asleep and her parents put her to bed before going to bed themselves, Envy pulled off his uniform jacket and then grabbed Riza's hand and pulled her to him, his mouth met hers in a frenzy, he took her cheeks in his hands and kissed her hard and needily, she was slightly surprised but then returned it as best she could until she had to pull away to breath, but he didn't seem to want to let her, and then she realized the kiss had gotten very wet.

She pulled back and then put her hand on his cheek feeling the dampness of his tears, she shook her head.

"Oh Envy," she whispered softly, and then kissed him gently before wrapping her arms around him and holding him as he cried.

It didn't last for very long, seeing as he did have some pride but he refused to let the woman out of arms length and got undressed and in his nightclothes between kisses, he just needed the reassurance she was still there. Once they were in bed he held her so tightly she was surprised she didn't break, he seemed to realize this and lessened his grip. She tried to see his face in the dark but couldn't so instead traced the lines of his face until he fell asleep, but he was awoken when a smaller form crawled into bed in between them, he chuckled a bit and kissed Hayden on the head and then the three of them drifted off to sleep. Together.

Riza was the first to wake the next morning, she stayed in bed a few moments to gaze at her husband and child, he was holding Hayden tightly, the girl had a little fist clenched around his pajama shirt, her head pressed against his chest, they both had dried tear tracks on their faces, she shook her head, who knew Envy would be so sensitive, she smiled it was probably one of his best qualities.

She kissed them both on the head before getting up and heading downstairs to make coffee, just as she put the pot on the percolator the phone rang, she frowned and looked at the clock, it was 8:45. She made a small face, oops, they were both late for work and Hayden was late for school, they had an excuse though, she grabbed the phone off the receiver and tucked it under her cheek so she could start making breakfast.

"Hawkeye residence," she said grabbing some instant pancake mix and put it in the bowl, was milk needed for this, she wondered when the voice on the other end made her stop.

"Riza," Fuhrer Mustang said, she blinked a bit, glad he couldn't see her, "Can we talk?" he asked and she made a face of surprise.

"Of course, Sir." she said, "I hope you'll forgive us for being late for work," she said and Roy snorted and then chuckled.

"I gave you the day off, I told him last night," he said and Riza frowned at his tone of voice.

"We were a bit preoccupied," she said flatly, hoping he'd take it the wrong way, but then he coughed to himself and sighed.

"No-yes, yes, I should have realized you had better things to talk about," he said and Riza frowned slightly, "No I was calling because," he sighed and it sounded like he was running a hand over his face, "Because I wanted to apologize," he said and Riza stared blankly ahead then looked down at the phone to make sure it was still on, yeah it was, maybe she had misheard?

"Apologize, Sir?" she asked, unable to keep the surprise from her voice and she heard Roy sigh on the other end.

"All this time, I always thought he was just using you, he was trying to fit in, it never occurred to me that he actually cared for you and Hayden," he said quietly, and Riza frowned, it hadn't been obvious until just then? She stayed silent and waited to see if he would continue.

"Last night, he looked almost...broken and he hadn't even really lost either of you, it was just a chance and he looked hurt, I didn't really understand it until now. I wanted to apologize for how I've been treating him, but I uh...don't think I can say it to his face..." he muttered and then Riza gave a short chortle.

"Too much pride, Sir?" she asked grinning and he 'hrmphed' on the other end, she knew he was pouting and laughed again.

"I'll be sure to let him know, and Roy," she added and he grunted in acknowledgement, "Thanks, for giving him a chance," she said and he was silent on the end for a while.

"Sure," he said quietly and then hung up the phone, she figured out of embarrassment, she chuckled and hung the phone on the receiver.

"Who was that?" Envy asked from the doorway, rubbing his eye with one hand and holding Hayden in the other, she had her head on his shoulder and her hand was still fisted in his shirt.

"Just Roy, reminding us we have the day off, oh I need to call Hayden's school too, but breakfast..." she started, then raised her eyebrows at him, giving him the message they needed to talk and Envy made a face before setting Hayden down who whined at him he pat her head.

"You don't want mommy to cook do you, squirt?" he asked and the little girl shook her head and detached herself from her father and then attached herself to her mother who was now on the phone again, calling her school.

Envy started breakfast shaking his head at the instant powder and wondered why they still had it.

He grabbed the ingredients needed for real pancakes and listened as Riza apologized to the secretary for not calling sooner, then she laughed a little at something the woman must have said and hung up the phone.

"Is there anything I-" she started but he shot her down immediately, he was quite proficient in the kitchen now and was quite capable of making a five course meal if he wanted.

"Nope," he replied and he could practically hear her frown, and then pout. She sighed and grabbed Hayden.

"Come on honey, daddy is being selfish," she said and he grinned looking over at her, his eyes twinkling.

"Hayden can help, but you can't." he said and she narrowed her eyes at him, crossing her arms, Hayden had a hand over her mouth, trying to muffle her giggles.

"Oh I see," she said with a playful huff and then dramatically stormed from the room.

"It's for Hayden's health!" Envy called after her, and then Riza said a few choice words in Drachmanian that had Envy bent over and laughing, Hayden however was blinking in confusion, daddy hadn't taught her those words yet.

It was strange, after the incident the night before and Roy's apology, it felt like a weight had been lifted from their shoulders, there was more laughter and teasing, the Hawkeye household was all around much more friendly, despite an unfriendly reputation, it was nice to go against the conformist views.

"But Daaaaaaaadyyyyyyy~"

"Don't 'but Daddy' me young lady, I already said no, I'm not letting you go sit in a dark room where some untrustworthy teenage boy can feel you up."

"Daddy!"

"No."

"MOM!"

"Envy..."

"Rizaaaa!"

"Envy, it's a group date, if anything happens...well..."

"And that's supposed to be reassuring?!"

"Maybe you have a point..."

"Moooommyyy! Not you too! I swear, nothing is going to happen! It's like you don't trust me at all!"

"Oh we trust you, it's teenage boys we don't trust."

"Good thing you were never one, hmm?"

"I can act like one if it makes you feel better..."

"Uh...hello? Teenage daughter in the room."

"Sorry, baby girl."

"Ahem, anyway. Hayden, you can go, just be back by ten."

"COUGH!"

"Eleven."

"Gross. Fine, thanks Daddy! Thanks mom!"

"...Should we follow them?"

"...We will...in about a half an hour."

"Oh ho~ Mrs. Hawkweye~"

"Shut up and take off your pants."

"Yes, Ma'am-Mmph"
