"This is your home?" Sesshomaru asked, staring at the seemingly abandoned old bungalow. Tall ivy hung on its worn out concrete walls, but what made the house beautiful was the garden. Shrubs of flowers grew in the yard and was obviously cared for by someone with a green thumb. Her home lies just outside of the town, following a short trail in the surrounding forest.
Rin smiled. "Yes! I like it here." She bounced towards the porch, hugging the gift box which contained the cake her new friend had bought her.
Sesshomaru took a deep breath and couldn't help but notice that she lived alone from the scent. "You live in solitude."
Rin bit her lip. "My grandmother passed away three years ago. I lived with her."
He blinked. And her parents? He realized it wasn't his business and decided not to ask.
"I see."
Rin shrugged her shoulders and smiled. "Well, thank you for walking me home! I'll be seeing you!" She waved goodbye cheerfully.
Sesshomaru nodded and watched the girl turn around for the front door. Few seconds later, he saw the box fall from her hands, and the white cake splattering on the ground. He realized something is horribly wrong, when Rin fell backwards.
In an instant, he had caught her before she hit the ground.
"Rin?" He asked tentatively, moving strands of hair from her face. She was unconscious. He tried to rouse her, but she wouldn't come to.
He stood up and lifted the girl with him.

Day 4

"Will she wake up?" He asked the human doctor, glancing at the girl on the bed. A white bandage was wrapped around her forehead and scalp. She remained unconscious.
"I cannot tell, but she should. You brought her here before there was any significant damage." The doctor stood beside the patient and brought out his penlight. He opened her eyelids and shone the light in them, satisfied when her pupils constricted. "Reactive to light means her brain is functioning well."
Sesshomaru rubbed his temples. There was no way he could have known. When he saved her, he found her lying on the ground surrounded by violent males. They were holding bats. They must've hit her on the head somehow before his arrival, and though it didn't bleed externally, she slowly bled inside until the pressure affected her brain. Fragile humans.
The doctor excused himself out of the room to tend to other patients.

He sat on the chair near the bed and looked at Rin. Will she wake up? Sesshomaru thought about how strange the situation was. What if she does not wake up on the last day? Would he end her life then? That wouldn't be much challenge or fun for him…

But before he can dwell on the potential problem, a movement caught his attention. Her fingers twitched. Sesshomaru stood up suddenly and moved closer to her. "Rin?"

Her eyes slowly opened and met his.

"How are you feeling?" He was surprised but relieved to see her awake.

She slowly sat up and kept staring at him, her slight confusion apparent.

"You had an accident. But you're fine now." Sesshomaru reassured her.

She blinked slowly. She couldn't help but admire him.

"You're awake! Thank goodness." The doctor returned and quickly attended to her.

She still couldn't get her eyes off the interesting man with magenta markings on his face. While the doctor performed motor function test on her, she couldn't help but ask.

"Who are you?"

Both the doctor and Sesshomaru froze.

"It might be short term memory loss. She just met me few days ago." Sesshomaru said confidently.

The doctor adjusted his glasses. "We'll see." He turned towards his patient. "Can you tell me your name and your birth date, dear?"

They waited for a few seconds for her to answer. "My… name?" She bit her finger while staring in empty space.

Oh boy.

Sesshomaru sighed. Clearly things will not go according to plan.
