The Apartment

17: Aftermath: Out of harms way

One month later...

Clouds skittered by the quarter moon giving the illusion of the stars winking as they passed above. The cement and surrounding lawn were still damp from the evenings rain. Jake, Red, Samuella and Fredrick were enjoying the early morning in the backyard hot tub at the former home of Fredward Benson, deceased.

"I believe a toast is in order, to honor the last of the Lykslorian Burn." Jake said as he carefully poured the dregs of the off planet, triple distilled, alcohol into the four glasses.

They each raised their glasses as Samuella said; "To us! The best damn pirates in the galaxies!"

"And to you! The best damn pirate Captain!" Jake added hastily.

"Well, let's amend the toast to the best damn pirate crew, and our own Captain Sam, The Demon of The Pirate Moons!" Fredrick said heartily.

They all four laughed, nodded and raised their glasses in salute. After each of them drained their glasses Red took an open bottle of wine setting on the deck, near her.

"This stuff any good?" Red asked.

"It's like the beer - piss water. Did you folks get the... Um, whiskey?" Jake asked Sam and Fred.

"Yeah, I picked up a few bottles this Post... Afternoon. It's what they call Post Meridian. Anyway, yeah, I did get a few types. It's in the house, I'll get it." Fred said as he began to stand.

"No, I got this. Relax. Besides, I moved the box." Sam said as she gave him a peck on the cheek while getting up and out of the hot tub. "Don't you dare begin telling them anything before I get back though. I want to hear this too." Sam said as she walked toward the sliding door.

"Is that an order?" Fred asked, grinning.

"You're damn right it is." Sam said, smiling back at him.

This being the first 'real' reunion they had shared since arriving on Earth. They had been together before, but had individually been so busy... Now it was finally time to enjoy themselves.

"So what are you going to do about those damn journals... Books they call 'em?" Jake asked, looking away from Sam's bikini clad ass, and back toward Fredrick.

"I don't know... There are some people calling me, screeching at me is more like it. Motion picture people. All the Benson clone did was write about what he remembered. He didn't know that, but that's what it was. Fleeting bits and pieces of my memories that seeped through the cloning process. I'm actually hesitant to continue those books. I really don't want to chance them coming to the attention of whats left of the Combine or the Barons. Those lawbots were jointly launched you know..."

"So how did that work, anyway? How did the counterfeits remember stuff we did?" Red asked.

"Don't you start that explanation yet! Let me get comfy..." Samuella said as she sat the box down on the edge of the hot tub and stepped in.

"Comfy now?" Jake asked as Sam sat down next to Fred.

"Not really. You guys are comfortable. You're not wearing anything. Why do Red and I have to wear these... Things?" Sam asked while flourishing her hands indicating her yellow striped and black bikini.

"Yeah, how come? It's night, we're in our own yard. You guys don't have to wear this crap, so how come we have too?" Red joined in as she indicated her solid neon orange bikini.

"No reason really I guess. Red's correct. Why do they have to wear these bikini things when it's just us?" Jake said.

Fredrick shrugged. Red and Sam took that as reason enough to strip off their swim wear, and relax.

Captain Sam poured out four large tumblers of brown-ish liquid.

"This first is Scotch Whiskey; Chivas Regal. We can drink it and then move on to the Bourbons or Gin while our intrepid navigator, pilot and husband tells us how these clone things worked and why I have a sister." Sam said while handing each of them a full glass.

They all took a hearty drink... "Hey, this isn't bad..." Red said. Everyone nodded, agreeing with her.

"Well, the clones, or counterfeits, whatever you want to call them, had just enough of our memories in them to be sure they would at least try to seek each other out. And you see, it worked." Fredrick said.

"What would have happened if they hadn't found each other, or one of them had been killed." Jake asked.

"The first part, them not finding each other would be easy. All six of them had shut down codes. If needed I could shut them all down or only an individual. The next part was a bit more difficult, but doable. If one of us, one of our clones I mean, were killed, there were two spares. One spare, the copy of Jake, malfunctioned at some point early on. He's out and about somewhere, if he's still alive. The other was a copy of Captain Sam, which is how you ended up with a twin sister, Sam. The two spare clones had all four of our identi chips installed. All I had to do was select which identi chip to activate." Fred explained.

"They all had a slightly programmable 'desire' functions as well. In other words they could act on a desire that I could insert in real time. That's how I got them to all stop their vehicles, and climb to the crest of the hill where they were disintegrated." Fred continued.

"Could the spares remember us, like the four main clones did?" Sam asked, taking another large sip of her drink.

"No, they didn't have the previous memory maps. Their existence is only in the here and now, with whatever memories they made themselves." Fred replied.

Red nodded.

"What about the clones parents?" Sam asked.

"They were four screwed up individuals. Jake's and yours, Sam, wanted children for the public assistance. They got paid by the State to raise you two, well three counting your clones twin sister. Red's family ended up being the most normal, but were killed at some point. I'm not quite sure how they died. Your clone's memories don't include that. I assume the clone was not with them at the time of their death, Red. My mother just wanted a child for some unexplained reason. I'm the only one that still has this mother, and let me tell you, she is a real blind light jump. Wacky as a neutered Askatorian goosedog..." Fredrick answered, shaking his head at the memory of the last conversation he'd had with his 'mother'.

"So, it worked. We fooled them. We're not wanted criminals now?" Red asked.

"We don't exist. They think they killed us, so we're outside their systems reach. Our legal case is closed. That's why I chose this planet. It's so very backward, the Combine doesn't trade here and the Barons won't let ships in the same galaxy."

The four nodded in understanding as Jake refilled their glasses.

"So that's why the locals here still regard some rocks and metals as precious, isn't it. They're so backward" Red stated.

"Yes, that's it. All that worthless ballast off Ocianic fishing boats is worth a huge amount here... What is it, the metal?" Sam asked.

"They call it gold. That and the stones that they named diamonds. We've got thousands of kilo-mass of each buried at the ranch... Speaking of the ranch. Don't you agree that it would be better if we all were together at the ranch instead of making these trips back and forth. Or, we could keep this housing unit and the ranch and all of us just move back and forth between them. There's plenty of room in each." Fred mused.

"Speaking of us, are our husbands ready to have a bit of bliss with your wives?" Red asked coquettishly.

Sam chuckled, grinned, took Fred's face in both hands and kissed him avidly. She reached between his legs, ran a hand over his dick and proclaimed; "Oh, he's ready" as she began to get out of the hot tub, followed closely by Red.

"Well, if our other husband is not ready, we can get him ready, Red." Sam informed the group lasciviously as she grinned at Jake, who hadn't moved.

"Fred, you three got a nap today, I didn't. I'm a bit tired. Are you up to both of our wives tonight?" Jake asked.

"Yes." Fred answered emphatically as he got out of the tub and followed Red. Sam stopped, turned and strode around the tub, stopping beside Jake.

"Oh, C'mon Jake. Are you really that tired?" Sam asked, kneeling next to him.

"Yeah, I really am. Fred gets all the fun tonight I guess." Jake replied, nodding.

Sam shrugged, took Jake's chin, turned his face to her and kissed him soundly. She then sashayed over to join Fred and Red as they walked into the house, arm in arm. Just as she was entering the house, Sam stopped, turned back to Jake, placed her finger on her hip and made a loud hissing, sizzling sound. She smiled back at him, and then entered their shared home, but didn't close the door.

Jake grinned at Captain Sam's theatrics as he took another sip of his Scotch. He wondered about the locals, and how they insisted that marriage was only between two people. He... They in fact, were used to multiple husbands and wives. They actually were one of the smallest groups that he could remember. He remembered the randomness that had existed during the long transit times, before they had decided to marry. One night, he and Sam, the next, he and Red - with Fred doing the same thing. He thought back to the first time they had all shared with each other... The confusion at first - who was with who - trying not to anger anyone while figuring out what woman would pair with what man. Those were crazed days. It had become much simpler after Red had suggested that they should just marry and share each other, always. Of course, she'd been correct. She always was...

He began to hear the chirping noises Red makes as she begins to reach bliss without insertion. Fred must be working her clit with his tongue. Soon, Samuella's lusty moans could be heard at regular intervals. He could envision just exactly how Fred was working the two women - Red on the couch, her legs spread with Fred licking and sucking her into oblivious bliss, while Sam was just in front of the couch, her legs spread wide as Fred pounded in and out of her. Fred would work those two women into a frenzy while he would attempt to get them orgasmic together. After their first climax, he would pull Red down in front of the couch, next to Sam and alternate back and forth - using his fingers on one while screwing the other. He'd switch between them often enough to keep them both in a tantric stupor until they both reached their apogee again.

Maybe he wasn't all that tired after all, he thought.

He climbed out of the hot tub just as he began to hear Red and Sam both howl and grunt. He thought he really should go and help Fred out with their wives. The two of them were quite a chore to satisfy.

It was the least he could do.

He chuckled to himself as he walked into the house, and closed the door.
