Chapter 18: The trouble with siblings pt. 1. (1)
Last time
"You had better be prepared...Naruto-Outouto."
Now
Percy looked around the dinner he, Annabeth and Grover were setting in. Around them families ate their meals and drank their sodas and malts.
He sighed as his stomach gave a painful grumble. It had only been a day since Naruto had left them to possibly go back to his home realm, and already they were in bad shape. No monsters had attacked them, thankfully. But they had no idea what to do next, and no money to buy any food as their last little bit had been used up to contact camp.
Percy sighed again as his stomach growled once more, far louder than before. Judging by how Grover and Annabeth looked it was obvious as to their current situation; they were just as hungry as he was. He wished Naruto was still with them. Percy had never told the other two, but he knew Naruto and his mother were pretty well off in terms of money. He'd even seen Naruto pay for a few things with a debit card while the two of them had still been at Yancey. He got no good feelings from it, but he wished the other blonde was there to buy them food.
Percy looked up at a sign of movement near their table. A blonde waitress stood at the edge of it. Order pad in hand and a skeptical look about her face. "Well?" she asked.
"Um," Percy started, unsure if he could weave a sob story well enough to get the lady to give them sympathy, and a free meal. "We'd like to order dinner?"
"You kids have money to pay for it?"
Damn, apparently not.
Looking over to his friends, Percy saw Grover's bottom lip quivering, and Annabeth's weary look. She looked half ready to pass out.
Percy was about to speak again when a Stretch Limousine pulled into the dinner parking lot and parked near the door way, drawing his and everyone else's attention. Out of the driver side door came a man dressed in the typical butler outfit and he preceded to walk to the back of the limo. As he opened the door Percy watched as, almost in a movie like fashion, a long, slender leg appeared, followed by another, both capped in diamond incrusted high heels.
After the legs came the rest of the lady followed, and she had Percy gapping in awe. She had to be the most beautiful women in the world. Even more so than his mom. His brain was close to short circuiting. She was dressed in what had to be a red dress made out of the finest silk in the world and seemed to have an earthly glow to her that was not a product of the light hitting her.
Percy did not notice when Annabeth inhaled sharply at the sight of her, nor did he notice when Grover started to cower into the seat.
Everyone in the dinner watched as the lady got out of her limo and offered the driver a kind smile and a nod of thanks before strolling into the building. The lady took a look around the place before her eyes (again Percy felt his brain go haywire at their beauty. Everything about her was beautiful), landed solely on Percy's group.
Without preamble she walked right up to them, and slid into the booth, right next to Percy. The boy's face light up like a Christmas tree.
The waitress glared at the women before turning back to the three. "You kids got the money to pay for it?" she asked again, sending glares in the lady's direction.
The lady giggled. "It's on me sweetie." she said, pulling out a purse form ...somewhere...and producing a credit card from it. Gracefully she set it on the table in front of the waitress and waited for her to take it.
She did with a huff and stalked off into the kitchen.
Had Percy been in his right mind he would have wondered what her problem was, but unfortunately he wasn't in his right mind and could only continue to stare at the beautiful women beside him.
The woman turned to him and smiled sweetly, "something I can help you with, Percy?"
Realizing he was staring Percy turned his head away and stared at the table, "sorry," he muttered, his face beat red.
The woman giggled again. "It's okay, honey. It isn't every day I decide to grace mortals with my presence. Besides, I don't mind a few stares, especially when it's from a cutie like yourself."
Percy felt like he was going to pass out when the woman called him cute. Only his mom had ever called him that. Across the table Annabeth watched the exchange with a heated stare. She knew who the lady was though, and didn't say anything, lest the woman decide to rain goddess horror onto her.
It was then Percy's brain decided to kick itself into gear. The way the woman said mortals. It was the same way Mr. D had back at Half-Blood Hill. The fact that she was unearthly beautiful helped him figure out who she was, but to a lesser extent. "you'reYou're Aphrodite!" he exclaimed, but quickly turned his head away again when she smiled at him again.
Aphrodite nodded smiled ato the dark haired boy beside her. "Got it in one." she told him, enjoying how he blushed and looked away.
"B...But why are you here?" Grover asked, "Gods are not allowed to help Demigods."
"Ahh, straight to business. I like that in a man." Aphrodite said, smiling a coy smile at the satyr. Grover blushed and looked away.
Aphrodite smirked inwardly, while it wasn't widely known, she herself was a bit of a prankster. And she loved messing with men, and women, which ever one suited her fancy at the time, but she liked getting under their skin and embarrassing them with her looks and smiles. It gave her such a pleasure sometimes to know her grandson had inherited that part from her. The fact that Hermes was also a prankster and was another source for Naruto to get it from was lost on her right then.
But she supposed she should get down to her reasons for visiting these three. "Well I could say that I'm here to speak with my grandson, but that would be a lie as I know he's going back to his home realm so I won't say that."
If the three noticed the way the goddess spoke of Naruto's birth realm they didn't comment on it. Instead they only nodded to her. Well Annabeth did, Percy and Grover did a sort of half blush half nod thing.
"I'm here to speak with the three of you."
That through the group for a loop. Why would a goddess want to speak with them? "And what would you want with us?" Annabeth asked, being the only one to be able to speak properly at the moment. "The only thing I can think of is that you have information of the lighting bolt's location. But even then, as Grover said a second ago, gods aren't supposed to help us Demi's on a quest."
The "Demi's" thing was a fast coming slang word the campers used to describe themselves.
Aphrodite smirked again. "Very much like your mother Annabeth. You can see through nonsense too." When Annabeth didn't seem fazed by the complement Aphrodite carried on. "Look, it's true that the reason I'm here to speak to you three. No; the reason I need to speak with you three has a lot to do with Naruto." She admitted. "But there is something else you three must know. Something that would be very detrimental to this realm if it got into the wrong ears. Zeus has actually forbidden it from being mentioned on Olympus." The light seemed to darken around the goddess as she said this.
"Then why tell us?"
Surprisingly it was Percy who asked. The boy seemed to have snapped out of the funk Aphrodite's appearance had put him in.
Aphrodite was surprised, usually the minimum allure she radiated could put a lot of people into a sort of hypnotized funk that they couldn't break out of until she left the area or were totally in love with someone else. To do this meant that Percy was either special or already in love, and judging what she had planned for the boy's love life she would bet on the former of the options. She had to give it to Naruto, his friends were special. But then her thoughts sobered and briefly she wondered how much she would be able to tell them without any danger of Zeus' anger.
Aphrodite snuffed that thought out though, Hades would deal with that. This was his plan after all. And besides, Zeus was always angry, a little more wouldn't hurt.
"Because," she started with a frown, "Naruto's life depends on it."
The admission left the three in a state of shock.
Naruto's return to consciousness was slow.
At first the only thing that registered to him was the warm object curled around him. Then he began registering the stiffness of his body. The next was pain.
An unholy amount of the stuff assaulted his senses as his mind became aware and Naruto almost wished he was in the underworld, at least then he wouldn't be hurting. Instead however, he just groaned. "Remind me not to do that again." He muttered, trying to get his body to move and finding it difficult due to the scaly flesh around him. The only thing his tired mind could think of for the scales and warmth was Ehecatal. 'He must have stayed to protect us when I passed out.'
"I did warn you, Love." Helena's voice was soft in his mind, but it also held the hints of tiredness as she replied to his spoken words.
"I know, but I had to summon Ehecatal if we were gonna live. Using your chakra was the only way to do that." Naruto groaned again as he opened his eyes to see his surroundings. Just as he thought, Ehecatal was there. His tail was around the two of them as he slept.
'Where's Thalia?' the blonde asked, turning his attention to the area around him and the dragon. The cave, at least it looked like they were in a cave, was sparsely lit and the only source of light came from the single opening in the rock wall to Naruto's left. In front of which was a wall of water cascading down from what must have been a higher elevation. To one of the sides expanded a cavern, similar to the one he'd walked through before fighting…that.
"At the moment she's still asleep. That thing left her too wound up to do much of anything. I had to take a few measures to get her to rest." Although Naruto knew she shivered from the mention of the monster, the small giggle in Helena's voice at the end left little room for his imagination to fill in. Naruto's face warmed significantly when the vixen sent a memory of his dark haired lover's pleased gasps from the night.
Shaking his head before his hormones got the better of him, Naruto stood up-no easy feat when he had to push a heavy tail out of his way to do so-and stretched his stiff muscles. More pain flared through them, but it was getting significantly less each passing second.
"Thank you, Helena." He said taking a few steps to get his legs working again.
The statement surprised the Nine Tails, especially when it was coming from her lover and host. "Why are you thanking me, Love? I didn't do anything I haven't before."
"Just…for everything, I guess." Naruto told her, truth be told he was ashamed of himself. Helena had been there for so long that he'd grown used to her, he'd started to just take what she was offering without thanks. "I guess I never realized how much I've come to rely on you. You give me chakra when I need it in fights, you've trained me almost since I can remember. Plus," Naruto paused as a small smirk appeared on his face as he pulled out a scroll from his battered hip pouch, "after yesterday you managed to keep Thalia very assured that I would be ok. I'm surprised, especially since you managed it even though you must have been just as exhausted as I was, healing my body with your chakra I mean." Always the prankster, Naruto couldn't help the subtle jab at Helena's pride. His smirk widened when he heard a shocked squeak from the vixen in his head.
"Was not!" Helena retorted, miming anger. "I am the Kyuubi! Your human concepts of exhaustion do not apply to me. It would take several days of constantly healing you for me to even be close to sleepy, keeping a mere girl sexually pleased while doing it is nothing for me to accomplish either-" Helena was cut off in her attempts to be an arrogant and all powerful being by a huge yawn.
Naruto's smirk almost split his face as he chuckled at her. "Get some rest Lena-Chan." He told her softly. "You deserve it."
"Ok," Helena replied, her voice a tired whisper as her exhaustion began to take over. "Wake me if you-" she never finished her sentence and Naruto shook his head when he heard the redhead's quiet snores. There was a burst of smoke as Naruto opened the scroll and pulled out a fresh pair of cloths and a mask.
When he finished changing Naruto was dressed in what normally wore when he wasn't at camp, an orange hoodie and a pair of blue jeans with his mask and sneakers. For an instant it felt a little strange for him to be wearing anything but his camp shirt, it felt like he was supposed to be wearing it now that he'd been living at the camp, but he shook it off. No use feeling like that, besides, they were just cloths after all.
"You awake yet, brat?"
Naruto smirked when the voice spoke and he heard movement behind him.
"Awake and fully healed, thanks to Helena." He said, turning to grin at the now standing wind dragon. "I was just taking the chance to change my cloths; Gods know I couldn't keep the ones I had on and I figured I'd stretch my legs whilst I was at it."
Ehecatal snorted, either in amusement or something else, Naruto didn't know. "I can see that." The dragon muttered. "While you're at it, you may want to stretch your senses as well. I think you'll be surprised by what you find."
Naruto stared at the dragon in curiosity for minuet or so before closing his eyes and doing as suggested. For a split second he wondered what Ehecatal had meant with the reference. But then, as his senses reached outside of the cave the answer hit him like a ton of bricks. The air outside was absolutely saturated with chakra!
"Huh?" Naruto gasped when he felt this. Much like the chakra of a person, the chakra of an environment could be used to find where a person was at times. Normally Naruto could feel the aerial Chakra in the mortal realm, it was pretty damn abundant in places that didn't contain a lot of human traffic. But even then, the Chakra levels in the air there was slowly and steadily dropping as more and more on the environment died. The only place he had felt anywhere near this level of saturation was back at camp. But even then, it was nothing compared to THIS!
For a time the feeling of this new abundance feeling left Naruto's senses overwhelmed and he had to tone them down considerably to allow them time to adjust.
"Welcome home, Naruto."
'The nerve of that woman! She maybe my mother-in-law, but that does not mean I will take her insults when they're directed at me to my face! Mother Rhea be damned!'
This was said inside the head of a very annoyed Hades as he stomped his way past the cowering statue guards of Olympus. Normally they would try to stop him, seeing as he was not allowed to be on Olympus until the Winter Solstice, but the amount of power currently radiating off the annoyed god as almost visible and caused the guards to think better as they allowed him past. If Zeus was scary when he was mad then Hades was even more so. The tales they'd heard from their predecessors about his anger was more than enough for them to obey what little self-preservation they had. They much preferred Zeus' anger, thank you very much.
Hades noticed their cowering and mentally sighed, '. 'Statue Guards,' he thought, rolling his eyes in disgust, 'useless things they are. I prefer Skeletal Guards more. They at least are already dead and have nothing to live for.' The thought was of dry humor and Hades shook his head to ride it from him as he came to the throne room.e throne room door.
For the first time in recent memory the doors were closed. He assumed it was to offer his two brothers privacy as they argued inside. Not that it really did any good since he could hear their cries of "Give it back!" and "I did not take it, asshole!"
'Those two should really grow up.' Hades hand moved to the handle as his other pulled out a role of sealing paper from his robe. 'I thought a few thousand years would give them enough time to do so, but I suppose I thought wrong. I can see why mother Rhea favored me now. I was always the most mature one.' That last thought was with a small smirk on Hades' face as he threw the door open.
The two other gods inside were momentarily stunned at the sudden interruption, so much so that it gave Hades enough time to walk in close the doors and quickly draw a silencing seal on the paper and stick it to the door. The light in the room dimed a small amount for a moment as the seal went to work blocking off any outgoing sounds.
"There, that will allow us to speak in real privacy." he said, turning to the other two. Looking at them he saw the surprise in their hardening eyes.
"Hades-" Poseidon started but was interrupted by Zeus. "What are you doing here? GUARDS!" the sky god called. Hades only chuckled after a few minutes of silence as Zeus waited for the so-called guards to arrive.
"They can't hear you, brother." He said, hardening his gaze at the youngest of the trio. He pointed at the door behind him, where the seal glowed a soft gray. "That seal, is designed to block all noises from leaving the inside of this room. Even if they hear you though, I doubt they would come. Last I saw of them they were cowering in their corners like scared kittens."
The reddening of Zeus' face was all the warning Hades had before a fist encased in lightning suddenly flashed into existence in front of his face.
He only rolled his eyes at Zeus' attack and caught the fist as he applied a very small amount of wind chakra to his own to cancel out the lighting. "Please, Zeus." Hades said with a mocking tone. "That pitiful excuse of lighting is nothing compared to what you can really do. However, as I am here on strict business, I can't have you unleashing your anger just yet. So…"
Hades' next actions were so fast that the watching Poseidon's eyes could barely track them. However, when they ended he had to struggle to control his laughter at Zeus' predicament.
The sky-god was tied to his throne, his face covered in a white mask of flower that billowed away from his nose at every breath, and judging from the tears streaming down his face, Zeus' robes had been tugged up into his hind end, and he'd been gagged with a pink ball that had little lightning bolts painted on it. Despite himself, a few of Poseidon's chuckles escaped him.
Luckily for the sea-god though, Hades only turned to face him, with a questioning look as if to ask, 'do I need to do the same to you?'
Poseidon's hands raised on their own in surrender. He had no attention on attacking their oldest brother like Zeus had. Despite the myths the mortals used, Hades had surrendered the sky to Zeus willingly and had instead preferred the underworld. Why Zeus had chosen to banish him there though had been a big question for Poseidon and the other gods, but they knew well enough to not ask as Hades had taken it with stride and asked them not to worry about it.
"I won't do anything." Poseidon said, lowering his hands as Hades' nodded in acceptance. "You're just as much a part of this as Zeus and I are."
"Too right you are, little fish." Hades said, and enjoyed the embarrassed blush coming to the sea-god's face.
"Why are you hear though?" Poseidon asked, ignoring the small jibe.
Hades snorted, "Like you said, I'm just as much a part of this argument as you two are. Our little brother here," he turned to glare at Zeus, whose angry shouts were muffled by the gag. "Needs to learn to not throw accusations at people willy-nilly without probable cause! And as for you…" Hades paused as he turned back to Poseidon.
"As for me?" Poseidon questioned. "What have I done?"
"It's not so much what you have done as it is something I need you to help me with.." Hades admitted. The room range with silence. Poseidon and even Zeus were stunned to silence at it. The reason being was that Hades had never been one to ask for anyone's help unless it was for good reason. He was the type to do something on his own first before asking. Like his appearance on Olympus today for example.
"Ok, what?"
"I need you to talk with the other gods. They may not like it, but our children are going to need us. Our sons especially."
I "What do we have here?" Naruto asked quizzically as his eyes shown with the Rinnegan.
When he had expanded his senses earlier, the abundance of latent chakra around him had blocked something else from them. Something inside the cave they were in was radiating a small amount of chakra. The amount didn't come close to what he'd felt before so he understood why he had missed it.
"I'm unsure," Ehecatal, now shrunk down to the size of a small lizard, said from his spot on the blonde's shoulder. He was looking at it with as much curiosity as Naruto. "I am surprised however. The feeling of this chakra is similar to your own." The dragon muttered, switching his gaze to his summoner. "Something your father may have left you to find?"
Naruto shook his head. "I don't think so," he said. "If he had I think he would have told me about it in the scroll he left me seven years ago."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, Naruto." Ehecatal said. "Gods are on a totally different mindset then you mortals are. They may offer demigods like you some help on occasion, but it only goes so far. Hades, your father, may have given you a limited set of instructions to do once you returned here."
Naruto flinched at the reminder, it was an unsettling thought to the demigod that some gods outright ignored their kids past their arrival at camp, some even more than that.
However, Ehecatal continued before he could dwell on it further. "Hades has always been an oddball though. Maybe he really didn't know about this and the fact the chakra coming from it being similar to your own is just a coincidence?"
That bothered Naruto more than anything else. How could there be a source of charka so similar to his own, but yet so much older than him at same time? Naruto knew that Hades' or even Kushina's chakras could have been likely sources, especially since a child's energy was often similar to their parents'.
But this? Naruto was left clueless.
"You see, Percy, Annabeth and Grover. Naruto is much more important to both these realms then you or even he himself, knows."
The chakra fueling the Genjutsu he was staring through held nothing of either of his parents, nor was it like the one he'd dispelled the previous day prior to fighting that horrendous monster. Instead however, it was so much like his own that he could have sworn that it had come from his body directly. But it was so much older at the same time.
"The legends of the shinobi world Naruto has told you are incomplete. Although he owes his existence to their origins, even Naruto does not know the full holding of their story. Of his story."
Naruto was unable to correctly determine the age of the chakra, but from what he felt it had to be a century or two old. Maybe even as old as the sage's time. But that still left the question…
"…Even the Kyuubi is unlikely to have realized it but…"
…why did the chakra feel so much like his own?...
"The man you know as Naruto Uzumaki-Hariken, has existed before."
"I'm going to see what the fuck this is!" Naruto exclaimed, raising his hands into the Ram seal.
"It's not Naruto himself that has existed before, but the soul inside his body."
"Kai!" Naruto pulsed his chakra out of his body, wincing as he did due to his chakra network having been overloaded with Helena's Youki and still recovering. From what had before looked like a rock wall, a plain looking door was revealed. He stepped forward and opened it.
"This soul has existed three times prior, each time a near century apart. And each time fighting a continuous war with another soul. The soul of its brother."
"What the heck?" Naruto asked himself, staring into the room. The only thing inside was a small round table with a scroll resting on top of it. For some reason Naruto felt himself drawn to it and found himself walking the three steps to it before picking the scroll up and opening it.
His eyes widened at reading the words inside.
"Naruto may be the Rikudo's descendant, but his soul is that of the sage's son. The one who inherited his chakra, Ashura Senju Uzumaki." (2)
"What?"
(1) I was listening to my brother's argue when I came up with the name for this chapter, the exact reason to it will be revealed next chapter.
(2) the names of the sage's kids will be edited to fit with this one.
CUT! man does it feel good to be back!
First of all I think I should apologize for even putting this up for adoption. I was at a really low point in my life when I did and was stressed beyond belief with work school and emotional problems. But rest assured, the biggest part of that, the emotional that is, has been mostly delt with and while I may have a relapse or two in the future I shall not abandon this again!
one way or another I am finishing this story!
