Night Sky

Her hair is golden in the star-filled night. Her eyes shine with joy in the peacefulness that is the mountain. There is nothing more magical than sitting with her, her head resting on your shoulder, knowing that she needs you.

That she is happy to be with you.

You absently run your hand over your scar-ridden face, wondering how on earth she could possibly still love you. Why would someone who moves so gracefully when she walks, someone who melts your heart when she speaks... why would she love you; a careless man who's face does not depict his youth?

You promised her ages ago that you would take her to this mountain, because you told her its beauty reminded you of her. You said that the blissfulness – the joy – you felt when you were up here was the same joy you felt when you were with her.

You also vowed to marry her one day. She doesn't know that yet – you never promised her, you promised yourself. But you're sticking by that promise.

She's worth it.

As you sit under the clear night sky, the stars surrounding your mountain (yes, that's what you're calling it), you take out the small box.

Will she say yes? you wonder as you take your arm away from her.

She turns her head to find out why you're no longer holding her, but then she sees the sparkling diamond and she gasps.

"Eez that... for me?" she asks, sounding surprised; as if she hadn't seen it coming.

"Yes, my dear," you tell her. "All of this is for you." You point to the ring and then to the mountain you are sitting on. "Will you marry me?"

She smiles the smile that makes your heart jump out of your chest and nods. "Yes, of course I will marry you!" she exclaims and she leans forward and kisses you with her soft lips and you caress her face, wondering what you had done to get so lucky.

"I promised you I would take you here one day," you then tell her, as you place the ring on her finger and she returns her head to your shoulder. "And I have. I also promised to one day marry you and we are one step closer to that now, too."

She doesn't say anything, except she moves even closer to you.

The two of you simply sit there for hours, watching the stars in the night sky. Her golden hair still shines in the light and once again, you wonder to yourself; how did you get so lucky?

3/700 for Boot Camps :D I'd love it if you could leave a review. I'd really appreciate it, actually. I hope you enjoyed it.
