"…Lan Fan, can't you go any faster?"
The driver flushed beet red as she continued to concentrate on the road before her. Ling looked at her in a bored and irritated expression. He knew he shouldn't have left his driver's liscence in the apartment, or it would lead to this.
He yawned sleepily, as he heard many beepings behind them. The girl beside him, however, would jump every time a car would beep at her, making a hasty and embarrassed apology. Ling can only stare at the road in boredom, before he couldn't take the silence anymore and put the radio on.
"I-I want to drive you there safely," The young girl stuttered, gripping his hands tightly on the steering wheel.
Ling sighed heavily, knowing this could take hours. He remembered suggesting to take the bus but Lan Fan protested, fearing he would get hurt by a random stranger. Ling grumbled, sometimes he wishes her to stop treating him like a baby. He's already a man for cripe's sake!
Ling heard sirens going off and looked through the side mirror to see a police behind them. He growled in annoyance as the driver gulped nervously. She slowly parked to the side. They both waited, one relaxed the other tensed as the police stepped by the window.
"Can I help you?" Lan Fan asked bashfully, her cheeks turning red as she tilted her head to look up at the dark haired officer.
"Yes," The officer had a slightly low voice as he nodded, "You know you were driving at 35 miles per hour… in the freeway."
The passenger smirked as the girl's eyes widened in shock, she bowed her head, her ears turning red. "Y…Yes, I'm so sorry."
"Can I see your license?"
She fumbled through her purse to get the card and handed it to him. The officer looked at it before giving it back. He glanced at the girl then to the boy beside her. He sighed before smiling.
"I won't give you a ticket this time, but try to drive actually faster okay? I pity your boyfriend."
Lan Fan's face turned into a deeper shade of scarlet as Ling smirked. He likes this guy.
"Thank you very much," Ling chirped up, cocking his head to read the police man's name, "Officer Mustang."
The policeman nodded before walking away. Lan Fan sighed in relief as she started the car. Ling waited for the police car to leave before speaking up.
"Hey Lan Fan."
"…Yes?"
"Next time, let's take the bus."
