Ignored

Ron Weasley had always felt ignored. Being the youngest of six sons just meant that no one ever paid any attention to you. No one noticed you. You were just 'another one of those Weasley kids'.

He always looked up to his brothers. His brothers were great to him most of the time, but he couldn't help feeling a tiny twinge of jealousy, because they all seemed greater than him, more special, more important. They were the ones that everyone noticed.

First there was Bill. Head boy, prefect, and generally just someone everyone liked. He had a style which Ron longed to have, but what did it matter? Things are always more impressive the first time round.

Then there was Charlie. Amazing at quidditch, naturally born a leader, and amazing with creatures. The whole of Gryffindor practically worshipped him, and he'd even gained himself a title: The "Legendary" Charlie Weasley. Ron was sure he needed quidditch talent more than Charlie, but did he get it? No.

Percy was the one that Ron was sick of, but he knew, somewhere inside, he hoped to be the tiniest bit more like Percy. Why? Well, Percy was the one who was organised, tidy, and freakishly smart. He was born to authorise, and had a sense of power inside him. Percy could be great, too.

Fred and George were a different case altogether. Marks didn't matter at all to them, and they never paid attention to class, but even the teachers couldn't help liking the school's troublemakers. Not to mention their wisecracking humour, and incredible quidditch talent.

When Ginny came along, Ron knew his parents would never notice him the same way anymore. Who cares about a sixth son after the arrival of a long-awaited daughter? Ginny was the family's jewel anyway, even if she wasn't so witty and popular. Ginny was the 'special' one.

No, Ron was never someone people noticed, for he was always in the shadow of his siblings. He knew though, that he was more than just 'the sixth son' and he wanted so much for someone, anyone, to notice that, to notice Ron, and not Bill or Charlie or Ginny or Fred or George or Percy. Why couldn't Ron be special? Was it really his fault for wanting to stand out?
