A/N: It has been such a ridiculously long time since I watched this show and these episodes that I'm sorry if I leave a lot out or get some things wrong. I'm relying off of episode summaries to jog my memory. Enjoy!

While Kyrie was generally glad to be back in her progeny's company she attempted to create some distance between them. She knew it wouldn't be easy especially with Pam's inquisitive nature and sometimes intense observations. For the most part however Eric was preoccupied with the running of his business and seemed interested in other affairs that Kyrie was not privy too.

As the days went on she became more leery of what exactly her child and his own progeny had been doing under the radar. There was a lot at stake and as time went on Kyrie became uncertain if she should tell Eric anything. If he had been dealing 'V' illegally then he should have known better, he wasn't stupid and neither was Pam.

Even still she held her doubts that he would be so daft, then again Nora's words had rung true even if they had angered her. Eric had always done things his way as he saw fit, the only person who had ever been able to reign him in was Godric and that was only due to extensive conditioning on his part.

Now that their maker was gone Kyrie wasn't sure how to proceed with Eric. Once again she found herself berating herself for allowing Eric and Godric to care for her for as long as she did. She had to put a stop to it, she couldn't let Eric fawn over her as he had done in the past.

If he was involved in marketing and selling 'V' then she would have to protect him from the authority and anyone else who would seek to cause him, or Pam, harm. Kyrie stood with her back against the bar watching the night scene unfold in front of her. She was becoming accustomed, somewhat, to the noise and general rowdiness of it all but that didn't mean she was willing to start participating.

The vampires who frequented the club were all fairly young compared to her and Eric, they were still practically in their infantile stages. It made sense with how they behaved especially with the humans who mingled with them.

"Hey." A voice said next to her. Kyrie didn't bother glancing over at the young male voice. "You a vamp?" Slowly she turned her head in his direction. He smiled widely at her dead pan expression. "You're pretty hot."

She scowled and made a move to walk away when the man, human man, grabbed her by the wrist. "Listen honey, all's I want is some company."

"Remove your hand sir before I rip it off." She growled out. He continued to smile at her in a goofy way but let her go all the same.

"That's quite the accent you've got." He remarked. "Where you from?" Kyrie paid him no longer mind working her way over closer to the crowd to get away from him. "Now come on, that's not very nice."

"I'm a vampire." She said as he came up behind her. "I am not…nice."

"Just because you're a vamp don't mean you can't be." He responded. "I'm Jackson."

"I don't care." Kyrie said being caught between the people dancing on the floor.

"Well, this is generally where people tell me their name…so what is it darlin'?" He questioned. Kyrie spun around gripping him by the throat and squeezed. She felt her fangs descend down as other vampires scurried away from her to make room. Instinctually they felt her blood and her age, none of them would oppose her.

"I am not your 'honey' or your 'darling.'" She ground out in a hiss. "Leave me be human."

"Kyrie!" Eric's voice raised up over the music calling out to her. She released the human retracting her fangs and hurried to the cellar. She sat down haughtily absolutely livid. "You can't attack humans in my establishment."

"He was bothering me." She stated.

"So attack him once he's outside and far away from here." Eric said. "Not in here. One little incident is all it would take for me to be shut down."

"What do you care Eric?" She asked.

"This is my business, my livelihood at the moment, so yeah Kyrie…I do care." He quipped.

"I've heard rumors around here. They swarm like flies, you know." She said softly. "I've heard mentions of 'V' being dealt from here."

"That's ridiculous. If humans get their hands on it then that's none of my concern so long as they don't get caught." He replied. "They can drink themselves stupid for all I care."

"Eric, do you know anything about it?" She asked gripping her hands together tightly. She brought her gaze to his. "A vic…"

"I have to get back upstairs." He stated shortly and went back to the staircase. Kyrie intercepted him standing a couple of steps above him to meet his height.

"Eric…" She whispered running a hand through his hair ruffling it slightly. "Tell me the truth."

"Moder…I…" He glanced away as if ashamed.

"Damn it Eric! For once listen to me!" She demanded her fears boiling over into anger.

"I didn't have a choice." He said his voice cracking the way it did.

"My child, you always have a choice." She responded.

"No, I can't tell you who is forcing my hand in this but I will say that it is from higher up the chain of authority." He said. "I physically have to obey."

"Higher up but lower than the league?" She asked trying to piece things together.

"I've already said too much. It's bad enough that Pam is at risk, I could never live with myself if I put you in danger as well." He said wrapping his arms around her waist.

"It is only a matter of time before you are discovered." She warned. "They will send someone, they will hurt you and everything that you have worked for will be for naught."

"I'm careful and smarter than all of them." He said. "I have done everything to cover my tracks, it won't be traced back."

"Watch your pride." She whispered in his ear laying a soft kiss against his cheek. Eric gave a swift nod and made his way past her up the stairs. Kyrie stood for a few minutes before deciding to retire early. The last thing she wanted was to go back upstairs and deal with people, human and vampire a like.
