Chapter 22

By corpsedollie

To say that the ride home was awkward would be an understatement since neither of the two heated bodies breathed a word of what just happened. They arrived home in no time at all, although it did feel like the ride home took forever.

"Where the fuck is the grub?" spoke a certain foul mouthed Jashinist as if he was waiting for the food like an eager puppy waiting to be fed.

"You can feed yourself. You're a full grown man" said Itachi with a slight red glint in his eye as he moved past the hungered Hidan.

But even before Hidan had time to retaliate, Itachi had slammed his room door closed.

Sakura felt rather awkward just standing there. It wasn't just that but she could feel that there were some eyes focused on her face. She herself wanted to explain why a calm and cool headed man like Itachi was in a foul mood that he was but decided to remain silent as to not cause any more trouble than there already was.

She moved through the lounge and to the studying/meeting room to sit down at the table where the giant map was that she had to study. She was rather surprised to find that she was not alone in the room but the red headed puppet master was on the other side of the table drinking like what seem to be green tea and studying the extra copy of the map and writing his own little extra notes on it.

He barely made eye contact when Sakura made her way to her spot, Sakura greeted with a "Hey" but the man barely even noticed that she entered the room and the pinkette had to admit that this was exactly what she wanted. She needed time to process her thoughts since some of the alcohol she had drunk earlier already left her systems. And for some reason she felt rather ashamed for the way that she had acted.

She sat down on the cool leather chair, pulling herself closer to the table and pulling the extra map that she and Itachi had been studying earlier to eye contact.

The lines all seemed the same. All the nooks and crannies that were drawn onto this map was already burned in the back of her skull and there was no way in hell that she would be able to forget what she already forced herself to memorize.

It was here that her mind started pondering on the heat and fondness that she experienced earlier the night. Was she imagining the feelings that she felt for the man with the strikingly good features? Was she crazy to react the way she did towards him?

She shook her head. No, she was not imagining what she saw or felt. The pinkette placed her flat palm on the place where her heart was. Was she imagining the feelings of warmth in her heart? And why in the hell was Itachi acting such a jerk making her feel not worthy of her presence or her feelings

'Damn Uchiha's' she thought to herself as she ruffled her messy pastel pink hair to cover some of her face.

A few moments of silence past where she did not make any movement just as her eyes were fixed on the map that lay in front of her.

This break-in was going to happen in a week's time and if she was to be successful onto breaking into the government vaults, she needed to get her mind out of her ass and focus. Because if she had her mind to be like it was now in a week's time, it would be problematic and it could get Sakura and the rest of the gang caught.

It's not something she wanted; she was just not ready to spend the rest of her life in jail just because she had some boy trouble.

Boys are trouble. That's a fact. And they are exactly the type of things that could cloud a girl's mind to no end. The pinkette has never had these feelings before. Why now all of a sudden? It was so annoying and troublesome

So what would be the only option to fix the situation?

Act as if they do not exist?

No, that won't work. She has to work with them and they will always be there with her. So just act normal with them, without having any feelings towards them?

Yes. That sounded perfect. The plan was perfect. How could it fail?

Sakura leaned back in her chair, to rub her eyes that felt like they were growing heavy. She let out a big sigh before realizing for the second time that she was not alone.

"You want some tea, Sakura-san?" Sasori asked as his eyes for the first time connected with the pinkette's.

Sakura blushed slightly since she only realised now she was not alone and she was moving around a lot trying to contemplate on what actions to take next. Sakura nodded at him "Hai" she said, she needed that tea

The ruby red haired man stood up from his seated position, grabbed an extra tea cup that was placed in an upside down position on his tray and poured Sakura the cup of green tea and poured himself another cup

She took the extra cup from him and took a sip of the liquid. It was warm and sweet but not too sweet but also not very bitter. It tasted of honey. Sakura loved the taste of honey and it just seemed to work for the tea. The drink reminded her of a different time

Sakura felt a surge of energy cascading through her body and she felt like she could focus again. She placed her cup down and for the third time that day she could focus again on the map.

And so the night proceeded where Sakura studied the map for the umpteenth time. Just studying it and also studying the extra notes she got with from Sasori. It went on quietly until Sakura could feel her eyes not being able to stay open and her body grew tired.

She folded her arms over her chest onto the table and rested her head on them. She closed her eyes. She promised herself it would only be for a second but it wasn't.

Early morning, the sun rays of a new day peeped through the curtains of the office window. It shone directly on the pinkette's face causing her to stir awake. She sat up from her seat, to feel a blanket slip of her and bundle up on the leather chair she was sitting on.

The first eye contact she made with was the man with the silvery white hair. "Morning sunshine" the man rested his crossed outstretched legs on the table while having a cup of what seemed to be coffee

"What time is it?" Sakura asked, taking her glasses off and rubbing her tired eyes. She also seemed to be harbouring a slight headache.

"It's a little bit after six. Coffee?" he asked as he sipped his own.

"Yes. That would actually be nice" Sakura said, attempting to brush her hair back to compile it a sloppy bun.

Hidan stood up and poured Sakura a freshly brewed cup of coffee "Sugar, milk?" he asked

"Two sugars and yes" Sakura responded. She stood up to stretch her burning limbs and let out a yawn to stretch her lunges as well.

Hidan handed her the cup of coffee and Sakura immediately took a sip of the dark brown liquid. "What are the plans for today?" Sakura asked

Hidan looked at her then looked away, his violet eyes facing the ceiling as if in thought "Just studying the map and then we have to do a test run on some of the equipment that would be arriving today. It's not very exciting but it has to be done" he took another sip of his coffee.

Sakura sighed deeply as she drained the remainder of the scorching warm liquid into her mouth and into her stomach. "Well then, let's do this thing"

True to Hidan's words, the remainder of the week was slow containing the very critical training that each and every member needed for the day of the breaking into the Government facilities. Every person, from Tobi to even Itachi was trained to know the procedure and information so well that all they could talk about was the day that the whole procedure would happen and the moments after they had the machine inside their living room.

And before they even knew it, the week was gone and they were left to face with the day of reckoning

A/N: Slightly disappointed in the reviews or lack thereof, of the previous chapter. I thought people loved Itachi but hey, why should I complain. Anyways. I will still continue this fanfiction since it's my baby and I think it is partly my fault for the reviews that are slow since I didn't update for 6 months.

Next chapter should be interesting.

Oh yes. And merry Christmas and happy New Year
