REMY POV
"so Cruz?" Cassie looked at me and nodded.
"seven months ago. He's great, really rambunctious," Cassie explained.
"Was it dangerous?" Cassie looked at me and shook her head.
"No, it was difficult, but minimal fighting. I have a great team," Cassie said and put her hand on my growing stomach. "Boy or girl?"
"We don't know," I said.
"Any names?" Cassie asked.
"Of course," I said. Cassie looked at me with a smile. "If it's a boy Cedric and if it's a girl Charlotte." Cassie laughed.
"Middle names?"
"Well its Edward Cedric, but we'd call him Cedric. Then for a girl Charlotte Renee," Cassie looked at me and nodded.
"Is that okay?" I asked. Cassie nodded. "Cassie."
"Its fine, it's wonderful. She'll be wonderful," Cassie said.
Cassie and I talked. She told me all about her different pregnancies and what she did. I asked every question I could think of and Cassie answered. She didn't hesitate at all.
When I woke up I was alone. Asher was there. He of course hovered and took care of me. I didn't see Cassie at all. However, Asher did tell me that she was speaking with Marcus. I know that Cassie wanted Cruz to be seen by Uncle Marcus and Grandpa Aro. Something to do about having the same powers.
"Are you positive you don't want to drink anymore?" Asher asked me again.
"Yes. I'm not thirsty and it's not like I could keep it down anyways," I said. Asher looked at me and sighed. "You didn't tell Cassie, did you?" Asher shook his head.
"I'm sure she knows anyway. She was concerned for you when she left the room," Asher admitted.
I sighed before closing my eyes to go to sleep. The baby doesn't like blood and it doesn't like food. It's surviving, but it's also weakening me. We've tried a lot of things, and theories. It doesn't seem to work. I don't know what is going to happen, but I know I want Cassie here. I want her here to help Asher, to help my child just in case I don't make it. No one in my family will listen to me. Cassie will though. If she has too she will. Cassie has always looked at all sides of the problem and if she comes to the same inevitable conclusion that I had then she knows and she will be there for my child and husband.
"Hey," I looked up at Cassie. I pulled myself up into a sitting position and she handed me a drink.
"Cassie, please," I stated and Cassie looked at me with a raised eyebrow. She handed me the cup. I looked at her then took a sip.
"I was doing my research all last night. I looked at Myths, legends, about women getting pregnant by vampires. I looked at my medical file and compared it to Briar's, Evan's and Mom's. All of us hand something in common. We all wanted blood and needed blood. Mom's was a bit different though, she had to drink Human blood. So I thought, what of the baby needs blood, but not animal."
I looked at Cassie just as I took my third gulp. This was good, it was sweet, but not to sweet that I couldn't handle it. I looked at her, then at the drink.
"This isn't animal?" I asked. Cassie shook her head. "It's human!" Cassie nodded her head slowly.
"Your heart rate has already gone up and you've kept it down. Asher told me you've been throwing up all the blood you drink. This is obviously giving you something you need besides Iron," Cassie stated. Our parents walked into the room. They both zeroed in on the cup.
"It was Cassie's idea," I stated.
"It's working," Cassie defended.
Our dad took my pulse than called Carlisle up. Carlisle took my pulse then checked the baby. He looked at me than at Cassie.
"How do you feel?" Carlisle asked.
"Good, but still its human," I stated.
"It's donated, no one died," Cassie explained.
"You should have asked me?" I yelled.
"If I did you wouldn't have tried it," Cassie defended. I sighed and closed my eyes.
"Well, now we know what you needs to get stronger and better," Carlisle said. Our mom and dad stayed with us for a while before they left.
"What?" Cassie asked as I stared at her.
"It taste's good," I said and she started to laugh. "How'd you know it would?"
"Lily, after Renee I had a difficult pregnancy with Lily. Cooper broke into a blood bank and gave me human blood. I got better, I wasn't sick. I figured you'd need it, but only if you actually need it to survive, to bring your baby into this world."
"About that," I said. Cassie looked at me and rolled her eyes. She sat next to me putting her hand on my baby bump.
"Everything is going to be fine and if the baby comes out with an extra finger or toe it will be cool," Cassie said. I looked at her with a shake of my head and laughed.
"No, I just …I need you to promise me something," I said. Cassie looked at me. She nodded for me to go on, "I need you stay, I need you to be here for Luca and the baby if something goes wrong. I need you here. They will need you."
"But nothing is going to go wrong," Cassie said.
"But if it does. I need you here, I know they will be okay if you're here," I said. Cassie looked at me. She looked at me long and hard.
"I promise," Cassie said and hugged me. I saw a tear go down her face and I wiped it away. "You suck." I nodded and hugged her again.
CASSIE POV
I can't believe she made me promise that. Everything will be okay. I mean I gave her human blood. Now that we know she needs human blood she should be getting better. I saw Asher come up the stairs as I went down. I hugged him then let him go. He just nodded and went to Remy who fell asleep as we talked about more names and the future of the baby, what they would do and accomplish.
"Cassie are you okay?" My mom asked.
"Asher asked me to come, but then you did. You told me to come that Remy wanted me here," I said. My mom and dad looked at me followed by my Aunt Rose. My aunt Alice was looking down, Uncle Jasper was looking at Alice. Uncle Emmett was looking at Rose and Grandma Esme, and Grandpa Carlisle were looking at my parents. "Whats wrong?"
"Nothing is," My dad said taking a step forward. I took a step back shaking my head.
"Something is or she wouldn't ask me to stay and take care of the baby and Asher," I stated. No one said anything so I looked at the one person who would treat me as an adult, who always has.
"Grandpa Carlisle, Whats wrong?"
"Remy hasn't had a healthy pregnancy, she's been sick, she couldn't keep food down and it's been hard on her body and her heart. Her chances of survival are 30/70," Carlisle said.
"And the baby?" I asked.
"50/50," he said. I nodded and left the room.
I walked down the hallways and found myself in the pool area. I changed into an extra swimsuit and got on the diving board. I bounced a bit on the highest board before flipping and diving into the water. I swam all the way down and sat on the pool floor. I screamed at nothing and no one. My sister will survive. I should have come the minute I found out she was pregnant. I should have been here sooner. I saw someone at the edge of the pool, Lukas. I swam up and to the edge. Lukas had a towel waiting. He handed it to me and I wrapped it around.
"It sucks," Lukas said. I nodded. "It sucks that you get to go to a pool and let your anger out and I can't because everything will catch on fire." I smiled with a shake of my head. "She's going to be okay."
"How do you know?" I asked. He smiled, I looked at him confused.
"Because I won't let anything happen to any of my sisters, not ever, not again," Lukas said. I looked at him, "I promised I would protect you Cass, and I couldn't that day, and then Marc died and I couldn't protect you from that."
"Lukas, No one ever said you had to protect me, us," I said.
"I know, but I'm your brother. I've been there for everything. I mean I know you're super strong, like borderline superpowers, and can handle yourself, but I still feel like you're protector" Lukas said.
"Well, no matter where I am you're still my brother, and sometimes being a brother is better than being a superhero," I said, " You know, even though we don't talk much, even though we don't see much of each other, even though we don't hang out together, even though we don't spend a lot of time with each other – I know from the bottom of my heart that you will always be there for me when I call." I kissed Lukas on the cheek and hugged him. I then stood up to leave to my room. Lukas looked at the water and I turned to him. "Sai, che siamo più vecchi sono contento di aver capito quanto sia impressionante ... Sei anche bene, credo."
I heard Lukas laugh and shake his head.
Italian Translation: You know, that we're older I'm glad you've realized how awesome I am... You're okay too, I guess.
