Chapter 40: Death Is Only The Beginning

Present Times:

Third Person's POV

"Damon?" Stefan called his brother's name. Damon was lost in his own thoughts. He acknowledged Stefan's presence there but didn't bother looking up at him. Damon's mental state was making Stefan very worried.

"I think something is wrong with her. Why isn't she waking up?" Damon's voice was steady and rather emotionless but inwardly he was experiencing a tornado of emotions. But as Damon was, he refused to express his turmoil. Stefan however still understood what Damon was going through. After all he could relate to him.

"She will wake up Damon." Stefan said with confidence, providing Damon some sort of mental support. He also put a hand on Damon's shoulder to comfort him.

"But what's going to happen once she wakes up?" Damon asked more to himself than to Stefan.

"She didn't want this to happen to her."

"I don't know Damon but I believe eventually everything will be alright." Stefan said and he looked at Jacqueline who looked as if she was sleeping peacefully. But she wasn't sleeping. Jacqueline was dead.

"You will help her get through and I will help you get through." Stefan said to Damon.

"You know you don't need to do this Stefan. You already have a lot of your own to deal with." Damon finally looked away from Jacqueline and looked up at Stefan. It wasn't that Damon wasn't thankful to Stefan for standing by him at his time of crisis when Stefan himself had problems of his own to death with. Stefan however only smiled at what Damon said.

"I know but I want to help you. That's what brothers do." Damon couldn't help but sigh out heavily as Stefan said that.

"Sorry that I won't be any help to you." Damon said sadly. He knew that even though Stefan wasn't showing it but inwardly his brother as well was going through hell. But still he came to comfort him. Well that was Stefan. And that was why everyone liked him.

"Don't worry about it." Stefan said and glanced at Jacqueline's dead body again. He'd have stayed longer but Stefan needed to go back to Elena. She woke up half an hour ago but due to feeling weak she fell asleep again.

"I'll be in Elena's room. Call me if you need anything." Damon simply nodded to that.

Stefan glanced at Jacqueline for one last time before sighing out quietly and walking out of the room. Damon once again fixed his eyes on Jacqueline, waiting for a movement from her, even a little one. Every single minute of waiting seemed like years to Damon. This particular day was absolutely crazy for everyone. No one expected something so shocking to happen in the end. Damon couldn't tell whether everything that happened a couple of hours ago was a good thing or a bad thing. But if he was given a chance, Damon would've undone all that happened. Only if he knew the consequences of their actions from beforehand.

Twelve Hours Ago:

Jacqueline's POV

A Dream-

"Hello! Anyone there?" I asked out loud. Where the hell was everyone? I muttered to myself. I was still at the hospital but for some reason, the entire building seemed to be empty. There wasn't a single soul around. It was not only weird but troublesome too. I was very alert and careful as I walked down a random hallway. The situation seemed so creepy. Not to mention, I was having a very bad feeling. Something really really bad must have happened at the hospital. Though it didn't explain, why I was left behind? Suddenly I heard a whisper in the air, saying my name.

"Jacqueline!" I turned around so fast that my head started to spin a little. But there was no one behind me. There was no one anywhere around me. And I must admit that the voice literary made me shudder from inside. It was that scary. Before I could calm down, the voice called my name again.

"Jacqueline!" But still there was no one around me. And the voice began frightening me more.

"Who are you? Show yourself!" I said out loud.

If I could hear him then it was most possible that he could hear me too. Suddenly a gust of wind went through my hair. It seemed as if someone just went past me in vampire speed. Therefore I couldn't see the person. But I realized that whoever it was meant to harm me. I started to run towards the exit door of the hospital. While running, I felt someone's eyes on me. There was no doubt that I was in danger. Unfortunately before I could get out of the hospital, I found my way blocked by the person I least expected to see.

"Markus!" I gasped out the name in horror. He should be dead. How come he was standing in front of me? I instinctively started backing away from him. Markus on the other hand was smirking at me like the devil he was. He looked like a predator on hunt and unfortunately I was his prey.

"My dear Jacqueline, you have been a very bad girl lately." Markus' sweet voice was simply poisonous. He was not approaching me yet but I still kept backing away from him.

"You are supposed to be dead. How are you still alive? It's not possible." I was raving more to myself than to that evil creature standing before me. Markus' smirk now turned into a full blown evil grin.

"Isn't it Jacqueline?" Saying that Markus bared his fangs at me. Also his eyes were more animalistic than I remembered. I understood then that Markus was no longer only a werewolf. He has turned into a hybrid. How the hell did that happened?

"No!" I gasped out loud.

"This can't be happening." I felt like crying that moment. After everything I and everyone else went through, after what happened to Amelia, how could Markus still win? How could he still be alive and be more powerful?

"But it happened. You should've known better Jacqueline. You should have known that you can never win. And now, not only you but every single soul of this town would pay the price for what you did." When Markus said that I suddenly felt the urge to look around myself. And when I did I was horrified at my surrounding. The place was suddenly full of dead bodies. And they weren't dead bodies of strangers but of people who were dear to me. Damon, Stefan, Elena, Jeremy, Caroline, Bonnie, Tyler, Matt and the entire original family and everyone else was lying dead on the floor. Their blood was everywhere. I didn't have the time to think or cry or do anything else because suddenly I was pinned against the wall by Markus.

"They've already paid the price for what they did and now it's your turn." Saying that Markus titled my neck and sank his fangs into my skin in the most painful way.

End Of The Dream

I screamed out loudly as I shot up on the bed. I was breathing heavily and my entire body was soaked in cold sweat. For a while I didn't care about where I was or about anything else for that matter. Clearly I had a nightmare but the dream was so livid that it actually managed to scar my mind. It took me sometime to calm down. When I did, I looked around and found myself in a hospital room. Though this time, thankfully everything seemed normal and not creepy as it was in my nightmare. However, when I finally registered my whereabouts in my mind, it confused me to no limits. I wasn't supposed to be in the hospital wearing a patient's clothes. I should have died a long time ago. I remembered that my breathing stopped when someone must have killed Markus.

I did have a mask on my face that seemed to be supplying oxygen into my lungs but still I was supposed to be dead. But now I was not only alive but I could breath on my own too. It meant only one thing. Markus has also woke up from his temporary death and must be in his transition right now. I couldn't waste any time thinking about my miraculous survival. I quickly pulled out every wire and needle attached to my body and got out of the bed. I realized I was in the same ICU where Meredith and I were talking before I blacked out. Thankfully no one was watching over me that time. I quickly changed my clothes and sneaked out of the room. From there, I went straight to Elena's room. But I had to hide because Jeremy and Meredith were standing right in front of Elena's room. They were talking about something.

Keeping myself hidden, I went closer to Jeremy and Meredith to eavesdrop in their conversation. At first I heard them talking about Elena. She was awake and alright. Then I heard them talking about me.

"She's going to be fine Jeremy. There is nothing to worry about." Meredith said and she sounded rather confident about it. Well she was good at her job after all. Me still being alive proved that.

"But why would she suddenly faint?" Jeremy asked worriedly.

"Jacq's been through a lot Jeremy. But believe me, she's going to be fine now." Meredith said convincingly but I could sense that she was hiding something from Jeremy. Perhaps she didn't want to make him more worried than he already was. First Elena landed in the hospital and then me, Jeremy must be having a really hard time dealing with all this. I suddenly wondered to myself how long has it been since I passed out and almost died. Looking at the time though, I learned that I hasn't been too long. My attention went back to the conversation when Meredith spoke up again.

"Did you inform anyone about Jacq?" Meredith asked curiously.

"I tried calling everyone but they aren't picking up. I guess the fight with Markus' werewolves isn't over yet." Jeremy said sighing out loudly.

"You know Elena isn't safe here." Meredith said and she couldn't be more right. Jeremy nodded his head, agreeing with the doctor.

"Yeah, I know. Stefan should be arriving here soon." Jeremy said but he didn't look pleased about it. Jeremy knew that Stefan would come only to take Elena to Klaus for protection from Markus. But who was going to protect Elena from Klaus? It was no secret that Klaus was planning on taking Elena away from Mystic Falls. Away from her home, from her family, from her friends and everything else as well. Jeremy couldn't possibly be happy about that now, could he?

"I'm gonna go check up on Jacq." Meredith announced.

"Let me know if Elena needs anything." With that, Meredith walked away from Jeremy. Though being under Klaus' protection for the time being would be best for Elena but it wouldn't be best for my plan. I couldn't let Elena be with anyone else but myself at least until Markus is dead, permanently this time. I needed to take Elena away from the hospital and fast because Stefan would arrive here any moment. Also Meredith would start searching for me. I needed to take Elena away from everyone because I knew once everyone finds out about my link with Markus, many would try to save that evil werewolf. But Markus needed to die. And I feared that the secret of the link would be out very soon.

Third Person's POV

Damon couldn't be happier. They successfully took down Markus without any difficulty. Well they did have a good plan after all and a lot of support. Thanks to their marvelous team work, Markus' pack didn't exist anymore. His witch was dead and Markus himself was too weak to fight. After all he was full of wolfs-bane and Bonnie put a few very strong binding spells on him. At the moment, Markus was in transition but he couldn't even move a single muscle. Damon and Elijah were taking him far away from Mystic Falls as fast as possible. If Markus didn't feed on doppelganger blood within next eight hours, he'd die and stay dead this time. Considering the circumstances, it seemed that Markus was finally helpless and he couldn't do anything but wait for the inevitable death. Or perhaps not.

"We should stop somewhere to grab a drink. Celebrate our victory you know." Damon said to Elijah while glancing at Markus' half dead body on the backseat of the car. Elijah however wasn't keen on celebrating just yet.

"We shouldn't let our guards down till he is dead. Permanently" said Elijah and he did have a good point.

"Okay whatever you say Mr. Careful." Damon said sarcastically. Elijah was too mature to response to Damon's remark. He simply ignored it. Not to mention, Elijah was still kind of on the edge. By living as long as he has, Elijah learned never to underestimate an enemy. Even when it seemed that the fight is won. Also there was something else apart from Markus that was giving Elijah quite a hard time. After a moment of silence, Elijah finally spoke up about it.

"Jacqueline will never forgive us, will she?" Elijah asked Damon out of nowhere. Obviously he was talking about Amelia's death. And if Damon was not wrong, and he wasn't, Elijah sounded sad about it. Damon glanced at Elijah for a moment before looking back at the road. And then Damon gave the answer that Elijah already knew.

"Well to be honest with you, no… I don't think Jacq will ever forgive what you did. Klaus killed Amelia and the rest of you supported him. Jacq doesn't take hurting her friends too well. But you already know that, don't you? You know it better than anyone else that she can do anything to keep her friends safe." Damon's words only increased Elijah's guilt and sadness. An uncomfortable silence befell them. Damon was about to speak up again but a certain dying werewolf beat him to it.

"So true." Markus whispered with such low tone of voice that if Damon and Elijah weren't vampires, they would've never heard it. But they did and Damon stopped the car right away to look at Markus with questioning eyes.

"How do you know that?" Damon asked Markus. His eyebrows were furrowed with confusion. Elijah was wondering the same thing. How did Markus know what Jacqueline was willing to do to save her friends from danger? Even if Markus was spying on Jacq, he couldn't have known her as well as they did.

"Know what?" Markus asked playing coy with Damon and Elijah. Not caring that he was practically paralyzed. He was even having a difficult time keeping his eyes open. But that certainly didn't stop Markus from being evil.

"Is there something we should know about?" Elijah asked carefully. Hearing that question, Markus started to laugh like a maniac. Though it was a weak laugh but it looked evil nonetheless.

"I guess… Jacqueline… forgot….. to tell you-" It was difficult for Markus to speak. He inhaled deep breaths just after saying a few words.

"Forgot to tell us what?" Damon asked impatiently. Suddenly he started to have a very bad feeling about killing off Markus.

"…that…. she will die… if I die… if she isn't dead...already." Markus talked no further. His work was done anyway. Now the very people trying to kill him, would rush to save his life. To say that Damon and Elijah were shocked to learn about this information would be the understatement of the century. Clearly they didn't anticipate something like this even in their wildest imagination.

"You are lying." Damon growled at Markus angrily. He was feeling enraged. But there was fear in his voice as well. Fear that Markus wasn't lying. Elijah on the other hand remained completely still rather than give a reaction. He only stared at Markus with a cold gaze.

It was Markus' turn to feel victorious. He had linked Jacqueline's life with his for this very purpose. One thing about that evil werewolf was that Markus always thought of all the ways his enemies could have him killed. Before getting involved with Klaus, Markus had considered the danger of being forcefully turned into a hybrid. And as a solution to that problem, he put a spell or rather curse on Jacqueline, a girl who everyone cared about. Someone whom everyone would try to save. Even the Originals. And to save her, they must keep Markus alive as well. Markus was sure that he would be completing his transition in no time now. And once he becomes a hybrid, he'd tear everyone into pieces for doing this to him.

Going back to Damon and Elijah, Damon was about to get out of the car and give Markus a good beating for what he said. But Elijah stopped him from doing anything stupid. Most importantly stopped him from waste any time.

"Damon, we must get back to Mystic Falls…. NOW!"

Even though Damon just wanted to destroy everything around him that moment but he knew Elijah was right. They needed to get back to Mystic Falls as soon as possible. Both Damon and Elijah hoped that once they reach Mystic Falls, they'd find that Markus was just lying to save his ass and Jacqueline was perfectly fine. However deep down both of them knew that it was nothing but a wishful thought. But that didn't mean they would let Jacqueline die just like that. Damon even made up his mind that he'd let Markus become a hybrid if that was what it took to save Jacqueline's life.

Jacqueline's POV

Elena and I were at the Lake house. The same lake house that the Gilberts owned. It was my idea to bring Elena here after getting her out of the hospital. It might seem like a stupid idea but it really wasn't. The thing is when someone goes missing, people look for that person everywhere but in their own home. I was quite certain that no one would come at the lake house looking for Elena. And yes, I did actually kidnap Elena from the hospital. Though she wasn't aware of it. I told her that it was all part of the plan that Stefan and I secretly made so that she wouldn't have to stay with Klaus. Therefore Elena was quite happy with the plan.

However, I had to go through a lot of trouble getting Elena out of the hospital. It included, stealing chloroform from the hospital and knocking Jeremy out with it. Meredith was going crazy looking for me and Elena when we escaped from the hospital. But I must admit, none of my plan would have worked without Sam's help. He helped us get to the lake house. He also had a witch clocking both Elena and I so that even Bonnie wouldn't be able to find us. The reason Sam was helping me was because he wanted Markus dead just as much as I did. Sam always knew my real plan and he helped me in every step.

Speaking of Elena, I was lying my ass off to her. But thankfully she believed everything I said. Only if she knew the truth. Getting Elena out of the hospital was a bit tricky. And she was asking a lot of questions in the beginning. But I managed in the end and finally she was within the safety of the lake house. And most importantly she was away from others who would most certainly attempt to keep Markus alive after learning the truth.

"How are you feeling now?" I asked Elena. She was resting on the couch.

"I'm feeling fine now." Elena said convincingly but I knew she was anything but fine. She was under a lot of stress. Elena was worrying like hell for everyone out there dealing with Markus. I looked at Elena with genuine sympathy.

"I know you are worried about others. I am too. But you can't stress yourself like this. Try to fall asleep." I said to Elena who sighed out heavily.

"I won't be able to sleep Jacq. I wish I could talk to Stefan." Elena said that more to herself than to me. I let out a heavy sigh myself. I knew that at one point, Elena would want to talk to Stefan but I couldn't let that happen. So I might have told Elena that we didn't have our phones on us because we couldn't risk being found by Markus' people in anyway. Which including our phones being tracked. I told Elena that when Markus is finally dead, Damon or Stefan would come to take us themselves. Until then we couldn't contact with anyone. Elena believed that too. Only if she knew I was lying to her on my every breath.

"I have an idea. How about I tell you stories. It will get your mind off of things for a while." I said and Elena smiled at that.

"Actually that's not a bad idea at all. It might help me relax too." Elena said and she got ready to listen to stories. I decided to tell Elena about something that I knew she was compelled to forget about a long time ago.

"Okay, I think I have a perfect story for you. This story is actually about a girl. Just like you." It made Elena grin and I couldn't help but smile in return.

"Really? And what is her name?" Elena asked with interest.

"Ummm… let's think her name was Elena too." Elena laughed and rolled her eyes but asked me to continue. And I did.

"So Elena was in sophomore year. She was living a happy life like any other teenager. She only had common teen problems in her life. The story starts when Elena went to a bonfire with her boyfriend one evening. There's a little back story here. Elena's aunt was in town and her parents wanted to have a family night. But Elena's boyfriend insisted her to come to the party and she couldn't say no to him. I should also mention that during this time, Elena was having problems figuring out her feelings for her boyfriend. She could neither be in love with him, nor leave him thinking she might lose him forever which she didn't want at all." At that point, Elena had a serious look on her face.

"By any chance Elena's boyfriend's name was Matt." Elena asked with a little stern tone of voice but I didn't lose my mirthfulness.

"Well we could call him that. Let's hear the rest of the story first. So as I was saying that our story starts when Elena went to the bonfire party. Her best friend had told her in the morning of the same day that she was having a bad feeling about the party but Elena didn't take her seriously. Unfortunately at the party her best friend was proven right. Elena had a serious fight with Matt."

"The best friend was Bonnie, wasn't it? Elena used to make fun of the fact that Bonnie thought she was psychic." Elena added that in the story. She would know since it was her story after all. I simply nodded my head and continued.

"After the fight Elena walked out of the party and called home." I noticed Elena's gaze going unfocused at that moment. I understood she was reliving the past in her mind. And it made her upset too. Elena must be thinking about her parents' death. I wanted to console Elena but didn't know what to say. Instead I continued the story, knowing that Elena wanted to know what happened next.

"Elena spoke to her mom about her feelings regarding Matt. Her mom advised her to set Matt free. But Elena needed more support. So she called her best friend Bonnie. And Bonnie too told her the same thing her mom did. But still Elena couldn't bring herself to tell Matt about how she really felt for him. At least not that night. When Elena was done talking to Bonnie, she hung up the call. She realized she has come quite far from the party location. But Elena wasn't afraid. After all nothing bad ever happens in Mystic Fall, according to Elena of course. Only if she knew that not far away a vampire was waiting up for someone to feed on." This made Elena frown at me with confusion. Just like I expected.

"Lucky for Elena that vampire thought she was someone he was in love with. At that time, he was actually looking for his long lost love in Mystic Falls. Otherwise the vampire would have killed Elena instantly. Though made a mistake at first glance, but the vampire soon realized that Elena was in fact not his lover. Her beating heart told the vampire, she was a human whereas his lover was not. It did disappoint the vampire but he decided not to kill Elena anyway as she reminded him so much of his lost love." Elena stared at me with wide eyes as I told her this. She knew I was telling a story about herself but she didn't remember meeting a vampire the night I spoke of. Of course it was because Damon compelled her to forget everything. And as I wasn't gonna let Elena turn into a vampire this time, she'd never remember this either.

"What happened afterwards?" Elena asked with serious curiosity this time.

"Well at first the vampire introduced himself to Elena. Then they talked a little, flirted with each other a bit. And when Elena's parents came to pick her up, the vampire looked deep into her eyes and compelled her. He told her to get everything she was looking for and made her forget about meeting him. The vampire didn't want people to know that he was already in town. Then before Elena knew it the vampire was gone. And as she was compelled to, Elena forgot all about meeting the mysterious stranger who had all the answers to her problems." For a while Elena stayed lost in her own thoughts. But then she looked at me and asked-

"Who was the vampire Jacq?" I smiled at her and said-

"Who do you think?" Elena thought for a moment then gasped out a little.

"Oh my god, it was Damon, wasn't it? I met Damon that night. And he compelled me to forget about it. That's why I don't remember anything." I nodded my head in confirmation. I let Elena process everything in her head.

"I must say this Elena, you have no idea how lucky you are this time. You only love Stefan. Totally, completely and think of Damon as just your friend. In the show that I always talk about, you were in a very complicated situation with your feelings for both brothers. And you were unable to choose between them as well. For the lack of a better way to say it, you were simply going through hell with your love life." Elena sighed out a little as I said that.

"I guess I owe you for that." Elena said to me.

"I don't know what happened in that show but I can never think of loving Damon the way I love Stefan. I mean I do care about him but just as a friend. Nothing more." I nodded my head knowing it to be true.

"I know Elena. Many things have changed in this world since I came here. Your love triangle was one of them." Suddenly Elena became uncomfortable. I understood she wanted to ask me something she was hesitating to ask.

"What is it Elena?" I encouraged her to speak.

"Jacq I know this is not the best time to talk about it but would you go back to Damon after all this is over? He loves you a lot you know." I exhaled a deep breath as Elena said it. Only if she knew that it didn't matter anymore if I loved Damon or Damon loved me. We could never be together. It seemed that Damon and I were never meant to have a happy ending. But as I couldn't say that to Elena, I gave her a puzzling answer instead.

"Well if Damon and I are meant to be together then we'll find our ways back to each other sooner or later, in life or in death." Elena thought I was being philosophical therefore she simply nodded her head. There was something else I wanted to share with Elena. I wanted to warn her about her possible future. But I also hesitated knowing that Elena's reaction would be anything but calm after learning about having vampire blood in her system. But in the end, I decided to disclose the information. It was the right thing to do.

"Elena there is something else I haven't told you yet." Elena immediately become worried and curious. She frowned at me with confusion.

"What is it?" She asked. I inhaled a deep breath before speaking up.

"Elena in the show, the very last episode I watched. You died. But with vampire blood in your system. You were going to become a vampire." A loud gasp escaped Elena's mouth as I said it. She gaped at me with shock.

"No, that can't happen. I don't want to become a vampire Jacq." Elena said with fear in her voice.

"I know. I know. And I promise I won't let you become a vampire. But unfortunately, you do have vampire blood in your system right now." Hearing that Elena became more scared. I explained to her why she had vampire blood in her system in the first place. Meredith had no other way to save her. Elena though understood that but it didn't make her any less worried.

"Jacq please. I don't want to become a vampire. Not now. I know that I'm in love with Stefan and I want to spend my whole life with him. I also know that at one point in my life, I'd have to turn to be with him. But that can't be tonight. I am simply not ready for that." I nodded my head and tried to calm Elena.

"That's exactly why I brought you here. To protect you from everyone who could put your life in danger. But truth to be told Elena, I can't do it alone. I can't protect you all by myself. I need your help with that. Promise me that within next few hours, you won't go against me." Elena furrowed her brows at me with confusion as I said that.

"Why would I go against you?" She asked. Obviously it didn't make any sense to her.

"Elena our enemies are smart. You've no idea what they can do to get what they want. The lies they can tell. Promise me that you won't leave my side until everything is over. Promise me that no matter what, you won't let Markus have your blood. Because if Markus turns into a hybrid, he'd slaughter the entire town. Everyone's fate is in your hand Elena. You must listen to everything I say and I guarantee you that you won't turn into a vampire tonight." I was desperate to have Elena's promise. And she understood that. Elena made up her mind pretty quickly.

"I promise you Jacq. I'll do as you say. I promise." I smiled happily at Elena and felt a bit relieved.

"Thanks Elena. Now get some sleep. You look exhausted." Elena nodded to that and laid back on the couch for a little nap. While Elena was trying to sleep I decided to call Damon once she dozes off. I needed to talk to him. Most importantly, I needed to apologize to him for everything that happened and for everything that would happen soon. I could only wish that Damon would find it in him to forgive me one day.

Third Person's POV

Stefan and Klaus were at the Boarding house. Impatiently waiting for Jeremy to wake up. When Stefan went to get Elena from the hospital, he found Jeremy unconscious and lying on Elena's bed. It was clear that someone knocked him out. Who? They had no idea. Meredith as well was unable to provide any answer. She was just as much clueless as them. She could only tell that both Elena and Jacqueline were missing from the hospital. While Stefan brought Jeremy to the Boarding house, Matt, Tyler, Caroline and her mother started looking for the girls. Everyone was worried about what was happening. Little did they know, their problems were only gonna get more complicated? Because Damon and Elijah were coming back to Mystic Falls bearing a very bad news. It was only a matter of time now before everyone learned about the curse.

"Finally!" Klaus exclaimed as Jeremy woke up from his unconsciousness.

"Jeremy, are you alright?" Stefan asked with concern. He helped Jeremy sit up on the couch. Jeremy groaned a little and squeezed his eyes shut. He felt very heavy in the head.

"What the hell happened?" Jeremy asked with weak tone of voice.

"We were hoping you would tell us little Gilbert." Klaus said unsympathetically which earned him a glare from Stefan. The hybrid wasn't expressing it but he was feeling quite paranoid about the recent turn of events. His doppelganger was out there somewhere, possibly surrounded by danger. Klaus couldn't possibly be in a good mood at the moment. Also where the hell was Jacqueline?

"I don't know what happened. I only remember seeing Jacq before I passed out." Jeremy said and sighed out with frustration. What the hell happened to him? Why was he knocked unconscious? All these questions were only giving him a nasty headache. It frustrated Jeremy more as he figured out it was none other than Jacq who knocked him out. Why would she do that to him?

"What the hell is Jacq up to?" Klaus asked angrily, more to himself though. But it wasn't only him who wanted to know that. Jeremy and Stefan wanted answers as well. Stefan had a bad feeling about what was happening and he shared his thoughts without hesitation.

"Jacq is up to something." Stefan said with certainty.

"Something is going on that only she knows about." But what could that possibly be? Stefan thought hard about it but couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation.

"Well whatever it is, we need to find out about it fast. Because every time Jacq keeps a secret only to herself, it's usually dangerous and life threatening." Jeremy said getting really worried. Both Jeremy and Stefan feared Jacqueline repeating the history with them. Last time they lost her simply because they had no idea what was going through her head. Unfortunately this time as well, the same seemed to be happening. Once again, they had no idea what Jacqueline was planning to do. There was silence in the room since no one could figure out anything. However, the silence broke when Damon and Elijah walked through the entrance door. Klaus, Stefan and Jeremy were shocked to no limit to see them because Damon and Elijah were supposed to be far away from Mystic Falls with Markus. However their presence only confirmed that something terrible was going on.

"Elijah, what are you doing here?" Klaus asked fearing the worst. His paranoia was practically driving him insane. One little push and Klaus could kill everyone within his reach. Though he was trying hard to keep himself under control.

"We have a problem." Damon announced. He and Elijah explained to others what they found out from Markus. After hearing out everything, Jeremy went into shock. Stefan felt confused about how he should feel really. Should he be mad at Jacqueline for planning on leaving them again? Or should he feel grateful to her for sacrificing herself? Because it was obvious that if Markus gets to live, he'd kill everyone simply for the spite of it. Klaus on the other hand, simply didn't know what to feel. If he let himself feel horrible about Jacqueline dying, then it would put his inhumanity into shame. No one would believe him again that he didn't care about anyone else but himself. Besides, what Jacqueline was doing would certainly make Klaus victorious. And he didn't feel bad about winning. Or that was what Klaus told himself anyway.

"We need to contact a witch immediately." Elijah said and at that time, he sounded anything but calm. He didn't get this worried even when their mother tried to kill them all.

"There must be a way to lift off the curse from Jacqueline before Markus dies."

"I'm calling Bonnie." Stefan said and he got busy calling her.

"But what if there isn't a way to break this curse?" Jeremy asked overcoming his shock. But now that he wasn't shocked anymore, he was freaking out. Jeremy didn't want to lose his sister. Not again.

"Then we will let Markus complete the transition and become a hybrid." Damon stated firmly but he immediately faced objection.

"And then what? Let Markus kill us all. I am sorry Damon but I won't let you do that stupidity. Besides, Jacqueline wouldn't want that to happen too." Klaus meant what he said and Damon glared at him for that.

"I know what Jacq wants. I also know that if I let Markus become a hybrid, she would hate me for that forever. But to save her life and keep her alive, I can do anything Klaus. And I will do ANYTHING to prevent her death." Suddenly, Klaus and Damon were in each others' face, glaring and sneering at each other hatefully. Thankfully Elijah stepped in between them.

"Enough! Both of you. We still have approximately five hours before Markus dies and Jacqueline dies along with him. We WILL find a way to save her without letting Markus become a hybrid." Even though Elijah sounded confident but inwardly he was anything but. He just didn't want others to lose hope and do something regrettable.

"Well you better find a way Elijah because if you don't, I swear I will let Markus turn." Before Damon could say more, his phone went off. Making an annoying face, Damon received the call which was from an unknown private ID. It meant the number couldn't be tracked easily.

"Whoever it is, I'm gonna break your neck and kill you for bothering me right now." Damon said angrily but his breathing stopped when the person on the phone spoke up.

"Well then it's a good thing I'd be dead in a couple of hours. It'll save you the trouble of killing me." Came Jacqueline's mirthful voice. She sounded so cheerful that no one could tell from hearing her voice that she was about to face death soon. It successfully got on Damon's nerves though.

"Jacq? Where the hell are you? I want you to tell me right now." Damon demanded knowing Jacq would never disclose her whereabouts when she clearly wanted to stay hidden. The others in the room were listening to the conversation carefully as well. Jeremy however could only hear what Damon was saying.

"You know I can't tell you that Damon. I am just calling to say goodbye." Jacqueline said softly. She sounded tired as well. Tired because of everything she went through in past few weeks. She just wanted to take a long peaceful rest now.

"You can't do this to me Jacq. Not again. Please just come back. We'll figure out a way. I'm sure Bonnie can break the spell on you-" Before Damon could say more, he was interrupted.

"Bonnie can't help Damon but I won't tell you to stop trying. Just don't get your hopes up." Damon heard Jacq sighing out heavily before she spoke up again.

"Damon, I don't know how I can apologize to you for doing this. I know that I am hurting you. I'm aware of the damage I'm causing you. But please, you need to let me do this. Because if Markus gets to live because of me and have a chance to kill even one person I love and care about; I won't be able to live with myself anyway."

"Jacq, listen to me. No one will die. We fought Markus before; we will fight him again and win. You don't need to sacrifice yourself." Damon was begging Jacq at that point. He wanted her to trust him that he could not only save her but also not let anyone else come to any harm as well. Though undoubtedly Damon was delusional to think he could achieve all that.

"I know how you won against Markus last time Damon. But you or even Klaus won't be able to stand up against him if he becomes a hybrid. I can't take any risk." Jacqueline stated stubbornly and strongly. It made Damon fall off the edge and he got mad instantly.

"So, what do you want me to do huh? Start writing a funeral speech for you, again." Damon snapped angrily. His whole body was practically shaking with rage. The others were standing mutely in the room. What else could they do anyway? There was a long pause from Jacqueline. Damon immediately started to feel bad for yelling at her. He realized that she must be having a hard time too being all alone and waiting for death. However before Damon could speak up again and apologize, Jacq beat him to it.

"Tell Stefan not to worry about Elena. She is fine. She will come back home as soon as Markus is dead." Jacqueline paused for a brief moment again. When she spoke up, her voice was heavy. It was obvious that she was crying quietly. It killed Damon from inside as he realized that.

"I love you Damon. And I am really really sorry. Hope you can forgive me one day. Good bye!"

Jacqueline's POV

I wiped away the tears from my face as I hung up. I knew Damon would never understand me let alone support me. But I had to apologize to him before dying. It was the right thing to do after all. Elena was sleeping peacefully inside the house. Whereas I was sitting on the porch, leaning against the staircase. I didn't know how long I sat there, lost in my own thoughts. But suddenly my phone went off and I was snapped out of my thoughts. I checked the ID but it was an unknown number. I wondered who was calling me. Because apart from Sam no one had this new number I was using. I hesitated for a moment but received the call anyway.

"Hello?" I said but no one responded from the other side of the line. I frowned in confusion to myself and wondered who it could be. But then again the silence stirred some familiar feelings in my heart. I somehow knew who it was. And it made me sigh out heavily.

"If you don't want to talk to me then why did you call me. Kol." I said with stern yet soft tone of voice. How did he get this number? Perhaps he got it out of Sam. But it didn't matter. He wouldn't find me anyway. Even after I said his name, Kol didn't speak up. Why was he doing this? I wondered to myself. But I guess I already knew why he was being like this.

"So you have heard about the curse on me. And this is how you chose to say goodbye?! By giving me a silent treatment. Seriously Kol?" Any other time, I wouldn't have said a word to him. After all I still hadn't forgiven him and his family for killing Amelia. But I didn't wish to spend my last moments showing hatred to someone. Even though that someone was my friend's murderer.

"I thought one day I'd apologize to you for what my family and I did to your friend." Kol finally spoke up.

"But now apologizing is completely out of question." I frowned in confusion and wondered why he said that.

"Care to explain why?" I asked, making my voice as bitter and sarcastic as possible.

"You hate me now Jacq, don't you? You hate me because I let Klaus kill Amelia and didn't do anything about it. I let your friend who you cared about a lot, die without feeling any remorse. I wanted to say sorry to you for my part in all that but you don't deserve apology anymore because aren't you doing the same to me right now? You are also killing my friend. Someone I care about. You are taking away someone from me I had begun to love. So Jacq, you are just as much guilty as I am, if not more." I heard Kol taking deep breaths. He was trying to control his anger and rage. I didn't know Kol could be so melodramatic but jokes apart, what he was saying was actually true.

Kol definitely considered me his friend and he cared about me. And I also knew that he was falling in love with me. But now I was taking myself away from him forever by choosing to die with Markus. So yes, I was guilty, it'd seem. I really didn't know what to say to Kol to make him feel better.

"So I guess we are even now." I said and let the silence consume us both. But I wanted to say something to Kol. Anything. Because the silence was not only suffocating me but it was making me realize exactly how much I was hurting him.

"I will never forgive you for this." Kol finally spoke up again. I couldn't help but sigh out heavily with sadness.

"I know." After saying that I suddenly couldn't speak to him anymore. So I decided to hung up.

"Good bye Kol."

After hanging up, I inhaled a deep breath. I tried to stay strong and not let any tear fall from my eyes. But suddenly I started wishing for things, I didn't wish for just a while ago. I suddenly wished to stay alive. I wished not to die with Markus. Only if there was a way to break the curse on me. And I was almost certain, there was a way but there was no time to find that way. But what if there was a way for me to come back after dying with Markus?

Many other nonsensical and meaningless thoughts started to run through my mind. For a moment, I actually started having second thoughts about dying altogether. Perhaps I shouldn't have received Kol's call after all. He always managed to make me crazy and mess up with my mind. I vehemently shook my head to straighten my thoughts again. There was no way for me to back out from the plan. No going back for me at all. It was the truth and the only truth. I could only wait for my death at this stage and that was what I would do.

Inhaling a deep breath and then sighing out loudly, I decided to go back inside. I should check up on Elena and see if she was alright. But before I could stand up on my feet, I felt a sharp pain in my head. As if someone hit my head with something. Even with that stinging pain in my head, I managed to turn around. My eye sight was getting blurry but still I could see Elena standing there. She was looking at me with worry. Before I could do anything or say anything, I blacked out helplessly.

Third Person's POV

Elijah had kept Markus inside the Lockwood old cellar. He couldn't guard him though as Elijah had other more important things to do. Therefore Stefan, Bonnie and Sam took the job. Bonnie was trying very hard to find out a way to break the curse on Jacqueline. But so far she couldn't even figure out what kind of spell it was. It seemed that only the witch who cast the spell had the ability to break the curse. Bonnie was beginning to lose hope when Damon walked in the caller.

"Did witchy made any progress?" Damon inquired right away. Bonnie remained quiet, so Stefan answered on her behalf.

"No, not yet" said Stefan and he let out a heavy sigh.

"We don't have much time left!" Damon exclaimed angrily. But he was more scared than angry.

"We need to find them right now." Damon said firmly, talking about finding Jacqueline and Elena. Sam even though knew where they were, but didn't say a single word to them. Sam wanted to see Markus dead for a long time now. And he was so close to seeing Markus dead that he couldn't compromise anything at that point. Besides, if Markus lived, Sam would be the first one that evil beast will kill and Jacqueline would be next.

"We will find them Damon. Everyone is looking for them. They can't hide for long now." Stefan said trying to provide some hope to his brother. He knew what Damon was going through. Stefan wished he could do more than just stand by him. Suddenly Bonnie screamed out with frustration. She looked exhausted and mostly defeated. The Salvatore brothers understood that Bonnie has finally given up, unwillingly of course. It simply wasn't possible for her to break such a strong curse. Specially when she didn't even know how to do it.

"I am sorry. I can't do anything… I am so sorry." Saying that Bonnie ran out of the cellar. She would break down outside and cry out her pain. Stefan and Damon looked at each other. Damon was on the verge of breaking down too.

"I'm gonna go join the search party." Saying that Damon left in vampire speed. It only left Stefan and Sam with Markus. There was something that Stefan found very strange. It had been a long time since they captured Markus but no one came to rescue him yet. The two packs Markus brought with him in Mystic Falls were dead but it was obvious that Markus didn't have only two packs. There were many of them. Yet no one came to his rescue. Why was that? Well the truth was, others simply didn't know that Markus has fallen. Sam kept informing them that everything was fine. And Markus would return very soon. And the other werewolves believed him because they couldn't even imagine that someone from Markus' closest pack would dare to betray him. Not only that but plot his death as well. Not to mention Sam was Markus' grandson and he was quite close to him. There was no reason for the other packs not to believe his words.

"I should go with my brother." Stefan said to Sam but he objected.

"And I should guard Markus all alone? A singular bad idea. What if something goes wrong?" Sam tried to dissuade Stefan from going after Damon. Thankfully Stefan agreed to stay behind. But right then, someone called him. Stefan was shocked to see the same private ID. It meant Jacq was calling him. Stefan quickly received the call.

"Jacq, please tell me where are you." Stefan hopefully pleaded Jacq. But when the person on the phone spoke up, it shocked Stefan very much. Because it was none other than Elena who called him from Jacqueline's phone.

"Stefan! It's Elena. I need your help. Please come fast." Elena sounded very scared and worried. It immediately got Stefan worried as well.

"Elena, tell me where you are. I am on my way." Stefan had already started to get out of the cellar. Sam followed him to see what was going on because Elena wasn't supposed to talk to Stefan until everything was over. Something must have gone wrong.

"Stefan, I'll reach the Wickery Bridge in about fifteen minutes. I think someone is following us. Please hurry up." And that was the end of the conversation. Stefan looked back at Sam who was staring at him with confusion.

"I'm going to get Elena. Call someone to come over here." Saying that Stefan disappeared in a blink of an eye. Sam however didn't do as Stefan said. He obviously had some other plan. So instead of calling someone from the gang, Sam called one of the pack members that followed his orders. When the call was received Samuel spoke up.

"Are you following Elena?" Sam asked with strong and commanding tone of voice. As if he was the alpha.

"Yes, Jacqueline is with her but unconscious. Elena is going towards Wickery Bridge right now. I am following them with others." The werewolf reported to Sam.

Sam had a couple of his trusted werewolves keep an eye on the girls. Even Jacqueline didn't know about them. Sam simply didn't wish to take any chance. Specially when he was anticipating trouble from the beginning. So many things could have gone wrong in the plan. Jacqueline could have had second thoughts about dying. Or someone from the gang could have found her and the doppelganger and let Markus complete the transition. And something did go wrong after all. The doppelganger was creating problems. But since Sam was anticipating problems, he knew how to take care of it as well.

"You don't need to follow the girls anymore." Sam said to the werewolf on the phone.

"Then what do you want us to do?" The werewolf asked. Sam inhaled a deep breath before answering the question. He really didn't want to do this but there wasn't any other option left.

"Kill them."

Jacqueline's POV

I was wake but there was a very painful headache troubling me. When I tried to open my eyes, a groan escaped my breath before I could stop it. Still I forced my eyes open. And when I did, I found myself in a car. The same car I used to take Elena to the lake house from the hospital. I looked beside me and found Elena driving the car. It shocked me. I tried to remember what happened. I recalled seeing Elena before blacking out. I figured that she knocked me out somehow. Most probably by hitting my head. Which explained the nasty headache I was experiencing.

"Elena, what the hell is going on?" I demanded an answer with stern tone of voice.

"I am sorry Jacq that I knocked you out. But that was the only way I could get you in this car." I scowled at Elena with confusion and anger as well.

"What do you mean? Where are you taking us?" I asked and wondered what suddenly got into her.

"I brought us back to Mystic Falls. I heard you talking to Damon and Kol." Well that certainly explained what was happening. And it pissed me off to no limits. She wasn't sleeping after all. When I looked outside to see where we were, I found that we were close to the Wickery bridge. This time I didn't hesitate to glare at Elena. And I was downright cursing her in my mind.

"Elena stop the car right now." I snapped at her angrily. Elena glanced at me once before looking back at the road. And she didn't show any intention of stopping the car anytime soon.

"I know you are mad at me right now but this is for the best Jacq. I'm not letting you die again. We'll figure out a way to kill Markus without putting your life at risk." Elena stated firmly. I forgot how stubborn Elena could be when she wanted to.

"Elena, I'm telling you. You are making a huge mistake. You are going to get everyone killed." I said but my words didn't reach Elena and she stayed determined about saving my life.

"I've already informed Stefan that we are coming back. He would meet us at the Wickery Bridge." When Elena said that I seriously wanted to start yelling at her. But I knew that wouldn't have worked on her either.

I wondered how she even managed to get me in this car. But then again, my clothes were dirty and there were scratches and bruises all over my body. So it was easy to figure out that Elena literary dragged me to the car and somehow got me inside. I shook my head to myself. Also I was getting mad at myself as well. I let my guards down which led to this disaster. Only if I had stayed more cautious. Then I noticed Elena glancing at the rear view mirror frequently. I looked back too and saw a car following us.

"Are we being followed?" I asked Elena worriedly and she nodded her head confirming my suspicion.

"They are following us for a while now. That's why I asked Stefan to come here." I looked back again and managed to recognize one person in that car. My eyes widened immediately.

"Oh hell! They are werewolves Elena. Drive faster!" Elena thankfully listened to me this time. But unfortunately the wolves also realized that we recognized them. They sped up their car as well to overtake us. At one point their car came up right beside ours. Very soon we were about to cross the bridge. Suddenly the other car bumped into us intentionally and tried to crash our car.

"Oh my god! No! Why are they doing this?" Elena could barely keep the car in control. She was getting scared now. I could clearly see it in her eyes. I wanted to be sarcastic that moment and congratulate her on failing to be the savior of the day. But I restrained myself due to the seriousness of the situation. But seriously, you should not try to play the hero if you don't know how to be one.

"They are trying to kill us. Drive faster Elena!" I said out loud. I thought Elena said Stefan would be here but there was no sign of him. No one was waiting for us at the bridge. The other car bumped into us once again and if they had hit us a little harder our car would have rolled over for sure. Elena was on the verge of letting go of the steering wheel. She was panicking. And I was losing my mind too. However I didn't start crying like Elena. She entered the bridge. I remembered from the show that this was the precise moment, when Matt's truck crashed into the water with him and Elena trapped inside. And it seemed that after all my effort, the story line was just gonna remain unchanged regarding Elena becoming a vampire.

"I guess the ending won't change after all." I said out loud, looking straight into Elena's eyes.

"Congratulations on becoming a vampire."

Just as I said that the other car hit us so hard this time that Elena completely lost control of the car and she drove us straight over the infamous Wickery Bridge. The car landed in the water and started to sink fast. Both of us tried to unbuckle the seat belts. The water was coming inside the car very quickly. I saw that Elena was badly stuck. I tried to help her first but I was going through hell as well. One of us was bleeding because there was blood in the water and I think it was me.

"I am so sorry Jacq." Elena said looking at me with red fluffy eyes.

"I should have listened to you." I could only nod to her that moment. The water finally went above our heads. I could only struggle for a while before darkness consumed me. The last thing I felt was Elena shaking me forcefully and trying to keep me alive. But soon I stopped feeling everything, the pain, the suffocation, the fear of death. And before I knew it I was gone from the world of vampire diaries for the second time. Little did I know that my death was only the beginning of me?

Third Person's POV

Stefan jumped up startled the moment he opened his eyes. He had his neck snapped. When Stefan calmed down and looked up, he found Caroline staring at him with worry and confusion. Also Samuel's dead body was lying a few feet away from him.

"Did you kill him?" Stefan asked Caroline who shook her head in response.

"Elijah killed him. He has gone to the Lockwood cellar to check up on Markus. Stefan what the hell happened? When Elijah and I found you, Sam was about to drive a stake through your heart." Caroline informed with anxiousness. She was downright freaking out not knowing what was really going on.

"I don't know what happened. Sam came out of nowhere and broke my neck." Caroline frowned in confusion as Stefan said that.

"But why would he do that?" Caroline really couldn't figure out why. After all Sam was on their side. He helped them fight Markus.

"I don't know-" Stefan stopped mid sentence which made Caroline furrow her brows at him. But Stefan was starting to get why Sam tried to kill him.

"Sam wanted to kill me to stop me from going to Elena. He knew the entire time where Jacq and Elena were."

"What are you saying Stefan? Are you sure?" Caroline asked with disbelieve in her voice. She didn't expect Sam to turn into an enemy like this.

"Yeah, pretty sure. Why else would he break my neck and try to kill me when I was going to meet Elena?" Caroline shook her head to herself at the unexpected turn of events. But then she became worried again.

"Stefan, where is Elena and Jacq?" Caroline asked.

"Elena asked me to meet her at the Wickery Bridge" replied Stefan. Only if he knew what happened to the girls while he lay dead with a broken neck. Stefan would certainly go crazy when he finds out.

"I must go" said Stefan. Caroline nodded her head.

"I am coming with you."

Then both of them started running towards the Wickery bridge in vampire speed. Unaware of the reality they were about to face. It didn't take them long to get there. But when Caroline and Stefan finally arrived at the bridge they stopped dead in their tracks. A horrible accident had happened there. Stefan and Caroline looked at each other. Neither wanted to believe that the accident might involve Elena and Jacqueline.

"I think there is a car in the water." Caroline said with shaking tone of voice as she noticed a faint light coming from underwater. The headlights of the car were still working.

Without saying another word to each other, both Stefan and Caroline jumped into the water. They swam to the car in no time. When they found out who were trapped inside the car, their worst fear came true. Not to mention without any warning. Both Jacqueline and Elena were stuck in their seats and there was no sign of life in either of them. Stefan rushed to get Elena out and Caroline got out Jacqueline as fast as she could. They brought the dead girls out of the water. Though they refused to believe Jacqueline and Elena were already dead.

"She is not breathing Stefan. Oh my god! There's no pulse!" Caroline exclaimed while crying. She was doing CPR on Jacq but obviously it was no use. Her friends were long gone. Stefan on the other hand could only hold Elena. He wasn't even crying. He was simply holding Elena tightly against his chest. The reality turned Stefan into a shocked statue. However his eyes were filled with tears. Caroline started sobbing hysterically when reality finally came crushing down on her. Stefan and Caroline were both drowning in sorrow when a third voice spoke up.

"What the hell is going on here?" Caroline looked up and found none other than Rebekah standing there. The original was looking at them with a shocked expression on her face. It didn't take long for Rebekah to understand that both Elena and Jacqueline were dead. And it shocked her to no limit. Rebekah slowly walked over to Jacqueline's dead body and couched down beside her. Her eyes were getting teary. Caroline was still holding Jacqueline's hand, pleading her to come back. She was crying for Elena too.

"How did this happen?" Rebekah asked with heavy tone of voice. She let a few drop of tears fall from her eyes.

"I don't know" said Caroline with low broken tone of voice.

"I don't know anything. We found them trapped inside the car….. Oh god!" Caroline shook her head vehemently as if denying to believe the reality. Rebekah didn't know what she should do at the moment. She was feeling completely lost. Having no other idea she called Elijah who was waiting for Markus to die. The transition time was almost over for the evil werewolf. Any moment now and they'd get rid of Markus for good.

"Elijah, something happened." Rebekah said when Elijah picked up her call.

"Come to the Wickery Bridge as soon as possible."

Present Times:

Third Person's POV

Flashback

"Where is she?" Damon barged through the door of the hospital aggressively.

"Where is she?" He asked again while looking around. Meredith saw Damon and came running to him.

"Wait, Damon. You need to know something first." Meredith said but Damon was in no mood of listening to her. But Meredith wasn't about to let Damon go without hearing out her first.

"When Jacq fainted while talking to me earlier in the hospital, she couldn't breathe in oxygen for a long time. Her brain cells started dying." Meredith was rushing her explanation knowing Damon would walk away if she didn't get to point soon. But after saying that thankfully, she got Damon's attention for the moment.

"What are you saying?" Damon asked her sounding desperate and broken. He wasn't in the state of figuring out anything on his own.

"I was so worried; I didn't want to tell anybody but-" Meredith took a deep breath before confessing.

"I helped her Damon. She needed my help. Like Elena needed my help when she came into the hospital."

"You what?" Damon finally realized what Meredith was actually saying to him and honestly he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Jacq knew that I helped Elena but she didn't know that I used vampire blood to keep her alive too." Damon closed his eyes shut and inhaled a deep breath as Meredith said that.

"Where is she?" Damon asked again. This time Meredith showed him to the room where Jacqueline's dead body was kept. The doctor left and Damon entered the room. He walked over to Jacqueline and brushed his fingers lightly at the side of her face. Her skin was cold as ice but Damon didn't care. He quietly whispered to her.

"You will come back to me."

End Of Flashback

Damon opened his eyes and sighed out heavily. He was done living his memories. He really wanted to forget about them because only Damon knew what he went through in those dark hours. And Damon never ever wanted to experience something like that ever again. There was only one good thing that happened in all the mess. Markus died in his transition like they hoped he would. In his last moments, Markus became violent but Klaus and his hybrid were able to put him down. Speaking of Klaus, he went crazy when he heard about Elena. The last Patrova doppelganger was becoming a vampire and there was nothing he could do about it. Thankfully Elijah and Rebekah kept him under control and prevented a massacre from happening in the town.

Sheriff Forbes and her team took care of Markus' body and Samuel's as well. Alaric helped her with everything. The rest of the gang killed off the werewolves who got Elena and Jacqueline into the accident. While all that chaos was happening in Mystic Falls, Stefan was waiting up for Elena to wake up and Damon was waiting up for Jacqueline to come back to him. Elena woke up when she was expected to. She was currently in transition. But Jacqueline was still very much dead. Frankly it was making Damon worried as hell. What if the spell Markus put on her wasn't letting her come back to life again. But Bonnie said that the curse broke when Jacqueline died. Then why wasn't she getting up?

Damon really didn't know whether everything that happened in past few hours was a good thing or not. In one hand Damon was really happy that Jacqueline would come back to him. But on the other hand he feared that she wouldn't want to live as a vampire. What if Jacqueline refused to complete her transition? But Damon was determined never to let her go again. If Jacq really refused to become a vampire, Damon would make her see that being a vampire wasn't that bad. He would make her want to live. And they were going to spend the eternity together. Damon inhaled a deep breath and held Jacqueline's hand again. It was still as cold as ice. He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it lightly.

"Please come back to me." Damon whispered to Jacqueline. Begging her.

He wished Jacq would wake up already and stop putting him through hell. At that moment, god finally listened to his prayers. Suddenly Jacqueline's fingers moved a little. Damon's face lit up immediately. He looked carefully at her face hoping to see another movement. Damon just needed assurance that his love was coming back to him, finally. Before Damon knew it he got what he wanted. Jacqueline snapped open her eyes and a loud gasp escaped her mouth. Damon smiled at her as she looked at him.

"Welcome to the land of undead!"
